I had someone on here remote unlock my Xfinity s9+. I put in a different sim, enter the code and it says successfully unlocked. Is this the only type of unlock it needs?
Someone asked me if it's network unlocked or sim unlocked. I'm noticing it's all listing Xfinity under all the carrier info, such as, the notification bar and under mobile settings. I am using the phone with straight talk.
Both the Verizon compatible and TMobile compatible sims work. But service cuts out often and kind of sucks.
Can the carrier re-lock it if it goes unpaid? Any info would be great. Also is there a way to remove the Xfinity boot screen?
Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
Without root you're stuck with the boot screen for whatever carrier firmware you have installed..
Surprised the Verizon sim is giving you issues since that's who Xfinity uses for their network.
Are you really saving that much using Straight Talk over Xfinity? I mean I pay $45 for unlimited.
Both are giving me issues. Now today I'm not able to recieve calls. When I did recieve a call, I could hear her, but not vice versa. I don't believe there is a way to root this particular model?

It's not rootable yet.
I have a Verizon S9+ that is Unlocked. Is this what your have or is the factory unlocked S9+? I was curious to what networks would work on my Verizon Unlocked S9+.

Mine is Xfinity originally, which runs on Verizon. I've had it unlocked.

Not sure if this means anything, but this is with my straight talk sim installed.

Correct.

Flash the Unlocked stock rom, that way it has the correct CSC (TFN) for TracFone NVNOs and it will say Verizon for the carrier.

I don't know if this question has been asked before, but is it possible to unlock the Thunderbolt to work on the AT&T network? I recently got a Thunderbolt from my friend who is on the verizon network, but I'm on the AT&T network, I would like to use this phone on AT&T, I love this phone too much.
No you can't because Verizon uses CDMA, AT&T uses GSM.

and just to clarify...the sims are completely different sizes/shapes to one another
Sell it and get yourself an Inspire, the closest you will get to a Thunderbolt on AT&T right now

Actually the sim's are the same size, I put the AT&T sim into it and its the same size.
I just wasn't sure if it was possible, there are a lot of Unlocking sites that claim to be able to unlock it using the IMEI number. So Im guessing its fake and that there is no way to unlock it.

I guess if there is no other way, might as well just try to sell it and get the inspire.

It can be unlocked to use on another CDMA x LTE provider, such as Metro PCS.
I was thinking they made the switch over to the micro ones... sorry i stand corrected on size
yeah, you can stick the sim in there all you want but it isn't going to convert an LTE or CDMA radio into a GSM radio with AT&T bands.
currently I'm using T-Mobile which runs at edge speed. I got a ATT sim card but can't get the internet on the phone and i signed up for the 50 dollar plan which is unlimited everything. could some one link instructions on to get the internet on the phone. also is there a chance this phone will get 4g on it? right now i have att, tmobile, and simple plan sim cards. i saw something about straight talk being on att in the forum. what's the easiest solution?

Simple answer, you can't.
Long discussion as to why you can't is here.

Yes you can but it wont be 4g nor LTE, just a 3g .I've been using gophone for the past 8 months with the I9100, the Note, the nexus, the one x and now the S3. OP, in addition to the 50$ a month's you have to add a data package.
http://m.androidcentral.com/att-introduces-new-data-plans-gophone-customers
I'm using the 25$ for 1gig of data. Once you purchased that you have to enter the following apn under mobile network settings:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

Then your data will work. It has to be the I9300 not the carriers S3 version. Any other unlocked, unbranded smartphone would also be fine.

I have been looking for a gear s for a little while. And since in have the extra cash I'd like to get one. But I'm a little confused. I have seen the international unlocked ones. And I have seen the T-Mobile unlocked ones also. I am looking to add it to my Verizon service so I'd be getting a Sim card from Verizon to put in it. But which one would work? If someone can fill me in I'd greatly appreciate it.

In your case you need to bite the bullet and get the verizon gs if you are going to put it on your verizon plan. The gs have different cell bands.....international/gsm (att/tmobile)/cdma (verizon/sprint). You cannot put a international/gsm gs on a cdma network. Cdma networks are very limited not like gsm where you can unlock...etc..to switch to another gsm carrier with the same cell band.
Thanks dude. Sucks but I guess I'm gonna do it.

But I can goto sprint and buy one if it is cheaper.

Talk to Verizon first if you are going that route and asked just to make sure.. Verizon might not allow cross over from Sprint.
Buy a t mobile one for cheaper and pay the 15 month to T-mobile that's what I did I also have verizon just way cheaper and you also can have root this way

Hi all,
I have an S9+ unlocked and I am trying to get WiFi calling to work. I've tried a few different roms but no dice. I called ATT and they did what they could on their end but they couldn't get it working and escalated the ticket. I told them I was using an ATT branded phone. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is it an att phone that was unlocked or is it a factory unlocked phone???
If its factory unlocked you are out of luck.

As Thor said, if you bought it from anywhere other than ATT, your out of luck. They only allow phones purchased through them to use Volte and Wifi Calling.
The one workaround is to activate the features on your line by using a different phone, and then swapping the sim to your S9/S9+. It's a trick that has worked for some but no telling if it still works.
Thanks fellas!
I still have my old ATT S7 Edge that WiFi calling worked on, so today or tomorrow I'm going to flash the S9+ to this, then put the sim card in the S7 Edge, use WiFi calling, then put it in the S9+ and see if that works. I appreciate the tips!

It wont work beyond a week. Att queries the phone ever so often and when it does it will stop working. This is what I've read and been told. It used to work when it first came out for longer for some reason and now is down to a day to a week.
I'm a little confused about wifi calling. I'm on US99830B using a Straight talk sim. I found out they offer wifi calling now. I just need a new sim from them. But, does it work with the version of Pie that I'm on? I thought I read that it didn't but I see others saying it does.

Straight Talk what? Straight Talk AT&T, Straight Talk Verizon, Straight Talk T-mobile, Straight Talk Sprint?
You can't just say Straight Talk. Straight Talk uses underlying carriers and many options depend on those carriers. For instance, since T-mobile allows Wi-Fi calling on US998 (which is NOT a T-mobile branded phone), any Straight Talk T-mobile account would probably also have Wi-Fi calling.
But since AT&T does NOT allow Wi-Fi calling on non-AT&T branded phones, then neither will Straight Talk AT&T.
So, you need to find out what particular carrier your Straight Talk SIM card is using, if you don't already know. There are codes and colors that will tell you that. Straight Talk will tell you if you ask hard enough. They like to pretend they are this standalone company, but they are just re-selling the 4 major carrier services but with lower prioritization and adding lag.
I used to have Straight Talk AT&T and eventually dumped them to go to what is now AT&T Prepaid. I was already using AT&T carrier services and the part that kept screwing up was Straight Talk's fault. So, I cut out the middleman.
You're right, I forgot to mention that. It's ATT

Don't think so, since it's not an AT&T branded phone. (For some reasons iPhones or at least some iPhones seem to be an exception.)
But check this link. It's for all Tracfone companies.
Good luck.

Yeah, T-Mobile allows it. Not sure AT&T does. I know it doesn't on AT&T Prepaid on US998.
