Android Auto Problems - LG V30 Questions & Answers

I have a problem with Android Auto. I drive many different vehicles and in some, Android Auto works well most of the time, but sometimes randomly disconnects. In other vehicles it disconnects all of the time. I have tried the two different USB cords (A-C and C-C) that came with the phone and that does not seem to be the issue. The issue seems to be within the phone itself as it tends to happen in the same areas all of the time. Has anyone else had similar issues? Has anyone found solutions?

Make sure that you have it set to the 'Charge only' usb mode. Mine would keep disconnecting when I would unlock the phone while connected to Android auto until I switched to the above mentioned mode. Super frustrating until I did.

Where in settings can I set the USB mode to Charge Only?

On stock enable developer options
Then
Settings>general>developer options>select usb configuration

Flaky USB port
I have experienced the same thing. The USB connection of V30 seems extremely unstable when used in conjunction with AA.
Tried many things but no solution

I am having the same problems with my V30. The only USB C cables that I find work with Android Auto are LG ones. With any other make I get an error message saying Can't connect to car screen on my phone.
The cable I'm using at the moment was advertised as an LG on eBay. I have to connect it 2 or 3 times before it finally connects. And then sometimes I get an error message on the console which says no data connection in phone. Once I get it going it's fine.
Super frustrating. The days when I just had to plug in my phone and it just worked are long gone

Is there a known issue with active sync dropping on TG01?

Have picked up a second hand TG01, the power cable is loose as is the usb cable.
When connected via usb active sync and charging drops after a short period of time.
Is this a common issue? are there any fixes? Does anyone know which pin in the mini usb deals with sync?
thanks

I have had this problem as well
had? Did you manage to fix it?
As far as i know I dont think so. you probable have afaulty usb cable.
try blutoothe activesync perhaps? or buy a new cable from ebay they are very cheap!
had the same Problem, so I changed to BT
anoying on big files ->> so a solution would be handy
My ActiveSync also keeps dropping, I have new cables but its still the same.
Sometimes its fine for hours and other times it dies after a few minutes but what I do is to open settings, connections and usb-pc and change to mass storage mode then change back to ActiveSync.
Tried different roms (6.1 seems to last the longest) on different machines and with different cables but nothing seems to work reliably.

That's a known problem with TG01. I prefer using Wifi connection with Pocket Controller
I know you can use BT/WiFi but they suck the battery
I like to let my TG01 'trickle charge' from USB especially considering the small battery Toshiba gave us.

Sorry, I don't understand. USB charge always works for me (orange led lighting) don't matter if connection works or not! Even with USB connection switched to mass storage.

yes, pere- on my tg01 too!
Hi guys, yes usb charging works for me and when in mass storage mode but I dont want to connect via wifi/bt when activesync dies.
I would prefer for the TG01 not to keep loosing the activesync connection
To solve this, i restart my TG01. Right after the restart, i can transfer big files or list huge directories (\Windows i.e.) without connection Loss.
mine doesnt actually connect with the phone in mass storage mode, the connection is REALLY temperamental even on a mains charger - once its connected its fine but I sometimes have to try 20+ times before it starts charging.
I have also tried a new charger and a different usb cable.
This evening having fully charged it I have just installed the 6.1 mirom14 to see if it is any better but no *sob*

Hello,
I'm having a problem with the S4.
When I plug it into the computer (Running Windows 7), the device starts charging and I can sync files with the device.
But, it starts reconnecting, the USB connection just keeps disconnecting and connecting over and over again, nonestop.
But the device is still charging, only the connection to the computer stops.
Its going back and forth drom cd installer to mtp? Drivers are installed?
Does someone know what the problem might be?

I had a similar issue, the problem was damage to my USB ports. Try different ports.
When this was happening to me I found the problem to be the cord I was using, with the littlest of bumps it would loose connection. Try swapping to another cord and see if it fixes your problem.

^ This. I've got quite a few cables that I cycle between for different instances, and there are one or two I have that seem to be really finicky.

Don't know why it happens but ROMs like jellybeans4 bypass the installer and go straight to mtp which fixed it for me.

I had a similar issue where it would constantly disconnect and i could never get it to connect long enough to get past the installer, but it only happened on my desktop and on all usb ports, so i rooted using my laptop which didn't have the problem, and installed Hyperdrive, and now i can connect to my desktop just like i was before, but without all the disconnects. so it seems like it was a combination of my phone and my desktop not getting along nicely, but with a custom rom everything is fine.
Ahh now that I think about it the newest Samsung USB Drivers might help him also.

DNA now won't connect to PC

So I was just going to change ROMs, and I realized that my DNA won't connect to a PC over USB anymore. I always plug it in at work via USB to a laptop to charge, and it would normally open the autostart/autorun window, which I would always notice because I'll switch computers often. Last week the autostart dialog stopped opening, but I was distracted with work being busy and it just went to the back of my mind.
Until now.
I've checked all the normal trivial stuff... trying different cables, using different USB ports, and obviously different PCs. It also won't be detected by ADB. Yes, developer options are enabled, yes USB debugging is enabled. It sounds to me like its the port on the phone, so then I'm screwed, but I was just wondering if anyone knows any tricks I can try.
Are you running a custom rom? Go to settings>storage>storage settings>USB computer connection and make sure the connect as Media device (MTP) is checked. Same thing happened to me and some how this setting was unchecked

You going to laugh at me but download PDAnet and it will redownload the correct drivers.

Have you found a solution for this? I am in the exact same situation with no solutions working for me. I tried PDAnet and many other things. The device is unrecognized by my computer completely not even showing up in the device manager. This likely is a hardware issue, but I'm rooted with no way to return to stock because I can't connect to my computer which makes me unable to use my warranty for repair. This is a really unfortunate pickle as I'm not sure if I can even do anything at this point. I have found online that people with a hardware issue with connecting to their computers also had the slow charge notification when charging either through the computer or the power adapter. Mine does not display slow charge which gives me some hope that it is somehow a driver issue. Do you get the slow charge notification at all?
EDIT: It's a hardware issue for me. Noticed my charger is sticking slightly more out than usual, and it just can't get the right connection

Hey guys, just figured I'd follow up. Sorry for the delay, XDA email notifications somehow ended up in my spam folder.
Anyway, for me it just turned out to be that all the cables I tried were bad. Pretty low odds, I'm actually surprised both my cable at home and the one at work were all bad. Sure enough I tried it with a coworker's cable and it worked fine.

Sign of loose or damaged USB port?

My g3 is about 1.5 years old. It's been doing just great for me. I do have the hairline fracture right along the bottom base of the phone which I believe comes from stress when trying to plug in a USB chord. Mine was pretty tight to begin with and it still is pretty good.
However, I have noticed some issues the past couple of months.
Sometimes, when plugging in my original charging cable, it states it's in slow charging mode. A couple of disconnects and reconnects fixes this. This is rare but it does occur once in a while.
When plugged into a PC, I have to be carefull not to move or jostle the phone or else it acts as if I unplugged the phone and plugged it back in and then I go through all the machinations of allowing the PC to have access, etc.
Item 2 is the most annoying factor. Sometimes, I don't even touch the phone, and I'll hear the sound that the phone was unplugged and then immediately a sound that it was plugged back in. Then Windows pops up a dialog box, the status bar on my phone states it's in install mode, then the phone asks if I should allow the computer to access the phone, and then when I allow it, it's in MTP mode again.
But item 2 happens whether I'm in Charge Only mode, MTP mode, Camera mode, etc.
I'm just wondering if there is some damage to the USB port on the phone or else it might be lose from the main board? I've searched and searched and can't find anyone else with this problem.
I've tried several different cables, and it's the same with each and every one of them. And it doesn't appear the the original cable is damaged. It might be since it's also 1.5 years old, but I don't think so because using it with other devices doesn't cause this issue.
Thanks!
Both my G3 and my G Pad 8.3 are more sensitive than they used to be about their connections to both original and high quality third party ones, although mostly the third party ones.

Yeah, I'll just chalk it up to good 'ol wear and tear.
It's just annoying if I'm doing something like copying files to/from my phone from/to my PC and I bump the desk or the phone and whoops! Gotta start over.
Need to look at using WiFi for it, but the worst part is if I'm using my phone to test apps I've written (emulator is not a good testing device for a lot of things). So, that also becomes an issue if I'm trying to watch the logcat and it gets interrupted, etc.

S6 Edge USB connectivity problem to PC (Only Charges no MTP)

So as the title states. I am having problems with getting MTP options while plugged into a computer. It sometimes works and others doesn't but it seems to work once on a first try on a new system and then the next connection it is only charging.
I was thinking maybe faulty port or cord. As I have tried several cords which also work on other phones I ruled the cord out. The port I have tried unplugging and replugging several times with no success, also jiggling the cord a bit while plugged in. No luck. It just randomly works fine once in a blue moon and then does not.
I have made sure my phone was unlocked, switching options in USB configuration setting though not the notification option because it is not there while it is not working, USB debugging on/off, restarting the phone, simulating a battery removal reboot, installing windows drivers, removing the sim card.
The phone is rooted with a custom rom for marshmellow. Can't really reset it or flash it without a computer to my knowledge. Was considering trying out Nougat but with the current situation I am not really able. Any help, ideas or insight would be greatly appreciated!
