Hi,
I`ve got a BLA-L09 rooted with Magisk and TWRP as recovery running 8.0.0.131(C432).
I`ve received a OTA Update for 8.0.0.142(C432)-FULL
There's been alot of bricking threads recently so I just wanted to know if I can do the update.
Thanks in Advance

It's safe.
Though you will have to flash stock recovery to install it.

Thank you, I've already encountered that problem
When flashing the stock recovery and successfully updating the firmware, will I loose root?
I've read somewhere that the bootloader will be locked again.

You will have to re-root yes.
BL should stay unlocked, although I have yet to update "normally" so I'm not sure. I only used HWOTA, and now HuRUpdater as it will let you keep twrp as well.

Hey!
recently flashed the Autralian MM FTF onto my Z2 D6503!
Now i miss my loved apps like Greenify, Lucky Patcher, Intelli3G, XPOSED, a custom recovery, amplify and so on. I tried to root it using KingRoot4.6 (sucsessfully) and then used Supersume.apk to replace the kingroot app with supersu. but after every reboot i need to root it again, which means my methode isn``t working problery! How can i root it? i really want SuperSU, Busybox, Xposed and the [NUT`s] Dual Recovery!
thats the build:
D6503_23.5.A.0.570_1281-9715_R4D
It depends on weather you want to unlock your bootloader or not
I typically flash a Kernel with recovery then flash systemless root but you do require a unlocked bootloader to do it this way
You could downgrade to KK, use a root tool to install root and recovery then use recovery to upgrade to a pre-rooted MM
Sent from my D6503 using XDA-Developers mobile app
Afaik the only way for the moment, it's to downgrade to a previous version, then flash a MM pre rooted rom.

You can use a tool called PRFCreator, you will need a SuperSu zip and a FTF of your choice

I tried to do that (downgrading to KK, rooting, dual recovery, making a flashable pre rooted MM) but ended up with bootloops. Tried to flash a stock however I, with difficulty, could only flash KK again. This time I used wirelessly downloaded all the software updates.
I think I will wait some time, till a better way exists.
There is a pre-rooted MM in the forum, I've tried earlier. But it is for D6503, not my d6502. It has a 3g fix, but in About Phone, it reads D6503. And root isn't working there as well. or perhaps I was doing something wrong.
I'm starting to think that MM isn't root-friendly

You will get the root soon for MM. This is why I hate Sony devices. Updates also comes late and rooting also comes late. Fed-up with this z2. Gonna go with Samsung

i didnt notice that
you since you have a unlocked bootloader can now flash the "advanced Stock kernel" found in one of the dev sections, through that you can flash supersu

Hi guys, first I want to apology if it has already been asked.
I'm running Android 6.0 (32.1.A.1.185) on my E5823. My phone is rooted and have Xposed installed (Hi Niantic)
I can't get rid of the notification for 32.2.A.0.224.
Should I update?
Will I loose root and Xposed? If so, how can I get rid of this annoying update notification?
Thanks a lot
You won't be able to update the official way without getting rid of the mods/root.

Okay thanks. How am I supposed to update then?
Can I remove this annoying persistent notification?

Uninstall Xposed framework and then you'll need to flash stock kernel using fastboot which would also remove whatever custom recovery and root you have.

Hey, I was asking myself: if I install systemless root (Magisk), will I be able to OTA? (if Magisk is compatible with my phone, which I'm not totally sure)

I wouldn't recommend it. Even if you do succeed in updating you could end up with a bricked device or just mess up your firmware and would have to do redo everything. Best is to bring it back to complete stock and then do the update.

Okay, thanks for the reply
I don't really see the problem. Just flash the latest firmware using Flashtool and then root again by using the rootkernel mod in this forum. Xposed and such aren't a problem either.
Hi
Is it possible to use Flashtool with twrp/root/xposed? Btw I think my bootloader is still unlocked.
And what should I use to root? Something like this or this?

If your bootloader is unlocked you should be able to follow both tutorials just fine.
In short:
Flash new firmware using Flashtool
Patch kernel of new firmware and flash it
Flash SuperSU and Xposed using TWRP
Enjoy life
If you need step-for-step help, just send me a PM with your instant messasing contact details. I'll help where needed.
Hi, thanks for the reply, I'll do that when I'll have more free time.
Instead of SuperSU, can I flash Magisk?
Bump
Thanks

You'll first need to downgrade to an older firmware in order to backup the TA partition. This thread describes everything very detailed: http://forum.xda-developers.com/z5-compact/general/how-to-backup-restore-ta-partition-root-t3479532

In my case MM 6.0.1 (.224 or .253) solved the battery drain issue during night/sleep, so i would highly recommend it. There is also a discussion regarding this.
as suggested by others, i would not directly OTA upgrade with modded kernel, Supersu and Xposed installed. I would do it with flashtool.
If you want to stick with the current version, simply disable/hide/remove the Software update app (or "hide all notifications from this app".)
I froze it a while ago with Rom Toolbox, but thanks

Hi, I'm still on 32.1.A.1.185
Flashtool (Emma) only allow me to install 32.0.A.6.200 (there is Customized MY and NOBA, don't know the difference) and 32.1.A.1.163 (only Customized_NOBA)
Why can't I update to a more recent firmware?
Thanks

Haven't seen any tutorial on that but as far as I know once you have rooted and unlocked the bootloader you are not able to use the stock Huawei OTA update anymore, if I see one I'll let you know though.

This thread is 6 months old.
Mankindtw has since removed the HWOTA used for updating and now only the Magisk installer exists.
For anyone wondering, use HuRUpdater to update through twrp.
Or restore stock recovery and stock ramdisk and you might be able to install OTA. If it should fail you can try the menu in System Update and Download Latest full, this should install fine as it doesn't check any partition for integrity before installing (will remove Magisk if you haven't)
I recently rooted my device using this tutorial:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-4/how-to/guide-root-using-magisk-stock-recovery-t3718203
The guy who posted it says that since we keep the stock recovery we can safely install OTA updates without any problems but he doesn't mention how. Is there a way to install OTA without getting bootlooped or bricked and of course without wiping everything? Also, Flashfire doesn't work on my phone (it kicks me out after loading). Besides I've heard that it can really mess up your device. Just please help out here because I really want to keep my phone updated without losing my data.
Thx in advance
