Amazfit Stratos Battery drain when disconnected - Amazfit

Hi Guys,
This morning is saw that my battery was going down quickly when it was disconnected from my phone ( i was in the garden and my phone was charging ). I lost 5% in half an hour. Does anybody also noted this behaviour ?
I have an international stratos 1619 with last stock update which is the .18. Does the newer update ( CN updates ) fix this problem ?
It's a real pain in the butt to have a watch with this kind of problem.
Greetings,
David

the same happens to me. the battery drains a lot if the connection is lost

Do you have any third party notifications app installed, like WatchDroid or AMF? If watch disconnects from the phone, this can cause increased battery drain, you should disable the app or put watch in airplane mode (not always works with 3rd party apps). Other then things, if the watch is trying to sync data with phone, either health or weather, this can help too. Last but not least, battery drain is much worse when using any Bluetooth device like heaphones for example. The best option when away from phone is to put watch in airplane mode.

I have exactly the same problem ~10% per hour when disconnected vs 4 days when connected... The same with pace and stratos with lg g4...

Battery troubles

Bonjour from France !
I'm facing troubles with battery of the gear S for few days now. :crying:
Battery drains quite quickly (40 % in one hour). Before it was roughly 15 %/hour. Could keep normal mode for, at least morning and then swap to safe mode.
Gear has an embedded SIM card and bluetooth is on as WI-FI. It is linked with my Tab S, as I forward calls to the watch.
Didn't change things with use and wondering if it's not capacity of battery that's the problem.
I'm wearing it for two years now and before, when at home with WI-FI battery's consumption was slower. Now even with full charged gear on evening, when getting up it's nearly dead.
Thanks for advices or help. :good:
Battery dying of old age or conflict in software?
Try with airplane mode to see if it is related to communication or watch app or batt.

Thank you for help (et merci - français aussi). Tried with saving mode and consumption was lowered but it did not last that much.
Unfortunately, fail to replace battery (was not the right one) and now pieces are not perfectly back to their cradle and watch does not work.
Bought a Huawei Watch 2. Quite different (Android Wear and size (& shape) of screen -smaller).

New stratos.. why battery drain?

Just received my stratos last night and everything still stock. Went to sleep at 92% at around 1am and now 12 hours later it is at 61% with no music, gps usage. Only notifications and barely any interaction. Rebooted both phone and watch just in case that worked, but no.
Kindly advise why this 5 day battery watch is gulping away my juice?
So i read that bt is likely the culprit. Mine also constantly disconnects and reconnects even when watch and phone are with me.
I just changed setting to keep amazfit app always running and not to optimise bt tool, bt and amazfit app. Think this will prevent disconnect/reconnect? Let's see if this will stop the draining.
Or am i fighting a futile battle against a bug?
1. A few phones, notably Huawei models, have a problem where WiFi interferes with Bluetooth and you cannot get a stable connection, you can test this by putting phone in Airplane mode and enabling only BT and mobile data.
2. The watch may have bad antenna, to test this, pair it with a BT speaker or headphones and see how far you can get from the watch with the speaker/headphone. If it disconnects after only 30-50cm them probably it has bad antenna (normally GPS doesn't work as well in this case) and you should ask for a replacement.

It actually got disconnected after about 120cm away. Do i have a bad antenna?

120cm isn't very bad, can be interference. Bluetooth and WiFi use 2.4GHz frequencies. Any improvements when away from both your phone and router?
Non that I could notice.
Right now, the watch is in airplane mode and it barely lost 2% over the last 3hrs. I noticed when it was draining battery earlier on, bluetooth on my phone depleted 84% and almost killed my phone.

On average my is loosing 6% per night with continuous heart rate on and one alarm in the morning. I am on latest international firmware. Make shure that you do have a watch face which is updating only once a minute. Auto back light should be disabled at night.
My watchface has weather, calories and steps. I woke up with 93% at 6.30am. Auto-airplane mode off at 7.30am. It is now 79% after 7 hours just using notifications. Not very impressed with battery life. At this rate, I have to charge it daily or it will go flat in less than 3 days. I don't even dare to turn on continuous HR.

You are probably receiving a lot of notifications. I don't need notifications on my watch. It is for sports and I have a smartphone. Comparing to Garmin Vivoactive 3 I can say that battery life for me is the same. One exception is during long duration cycling it is consuming more energy because of the bigger display which is always on.
So far maybe about 30-40 Whatsapp messages/notifications. Is this a lot?

I lost 10% within an hour that was when I noticed it was disconnected and failed to reconnect back. At this rate, it isn't even going to last me 2 days. This is really disappointing.
Try doing a factory reset on the watch. This fixed battery issue for me. Before it ate the battery in 24hours with nothing enabled. Now its 1 day 12hours since last charge and 81% remaining.
Worth a try..
Why would a factory reset be necessary on a new watch? It is less than 48 hours out of the box with nothing installed. Would a factory reset even be useful in this case?

Beats me. Should'nt be necessary. But it worked for me. Hope it works for you too.
It's gone crazy after a reset. The charging will disconnect/reconnect non stop, even when attached to a PC via usb outlet. Stratos' drive will connect/disconnect non-stop as well. The only way I can charge the watch now is if I switched the watch off, if not it can't charge. It doesn't appear to be a charging issue since it can charge when watch is off. Factory reset multiple times and updated to latest fw still the same.

Battery drain issues
My new Stratos also facing battery drain issues here, at first when i pair my watch to my phone (Samsung Galaxy Note 3) is was fine. Battery drain percentage was not too horrible. On the next day, my watch started to received notification regarding my phone is too far away from my watch, but i notice that my phone is just nearby my side. Plus, this notification can be received a couple times a day. Then i notice that my watch is drain battery very fast, about 10% per hour.
On the same day, i unpair my watch from my phone (Samsung Galaxy Note 3), and pair my watch to another phone (Samsung Galaxy Note 4). *Note, please backup your data from your watch if needed, because once you unpair the watch from phone it will do a factory reset. (Is a pain in the ass that i have to re-download the watch face again). And charge up my watch to full 100% at 10PM at night and leave the watch bluetooth continue pair with my phone over night. On the next morning around 6:30 am, when i check on my watch battery percentage, its only drop 1%.
Still unable to confirm whether the issues is it cause from both of my phone having different BT version (Note 3 is BT 4.0) and (Note 4 is BT 4.1), or my Note 3 is already old and the circuit board are having problem. I still need to monitor this battery drain issues on my Note 4 to confirm the result. Hence, I'm not a heavy user, i don't received a lot of notification everyday.

Wait for few chargins, update firmware, should be fine. 6 days and 15% looks normal

It doesn't seem normal to me. Of course it depends on how many hundreds of notifications you have.
I've got GPS OFF, app notifications ON (WhatsApp, SMS, Calls), sleeptracking ON, no activities.
Charged the watch on sunday and now on thursday it's still at 100%. Maybe 10 notifications per day.
When I received my first watch, it was 0% straight out of the package. I charged it and it drained 5-6% overnight even with the watch OFF. Faulty battery. Returned the watch and got a new one. This one was 65% charged out of the package and is now holding up well.
Edit: Do you monitor heart rate? I don't.

Maybe I got it wrong. There's no such setting that I know of, but I never use activities that could use GPS on the watch. So GPS is off in that sense.
If you start an activity from the phone, it should use GPS on the phone and not the watch. Haven't tried it though.
It's dropped to 99% now. 1% sunday to thursday. Should I be worried?

Hi!
I got my new GTR 42 today. Big issue: battery goes down to 20% in three hours. I charged the phone twice already today (once when I unpacked it, once one hour ago), and it's the same issue.
I don't really see what I could do to make it better. Any idea?
Thanks a lot

try this

please see my post in another thread. Try it yourself and report if this makes any difference:
Hi, another user with GTR battery drain issues.
My newly bought GTR 42mm drained from 100 - 0 % in 4 days (no AOD, no HR, just Notifications & auto brightness). This was 1% per hour.
There, I read and tried few things, and this one seems to temporary patch the situation.
I unpaired and uninstalled all related apps (this is android user) and deleted the amazfit folder on the device. (read somewhere that there might me a corrupt settings file in there).
Then I installed some previous version of Amazfit app - current version on Play Store is version 3.4.4, and I found and installed version 3.2.0. Now my drainage fell from 25%/day to about 14%/day. I suspect that not the watch but the sh1tty app works in background doing god knows what and drains battery as hell. I did test with no connection to the phone (battery safe mode) and it was not draining single % for more than 8h.
This is not a cure, but probably will help someone until the chinese programmers do their job and release working sync software.

Horrible battery life amazfit stratos

Hi, my stratos is having very bad battery life where some nights it will drop over 50 percent. Is anyone having this problem too? And does auto brightness for back light drains battery?
Hi my friends, this same happened to me. My watch during day and workout lose about 10-14% battery but at night it drops about 80%. At night I have switched on night and fly mode, only sleep tracking and heart rate was on... I am Goni g to send it back.
If you using 3rd party application it i eat your watch battery life.
I used notify & fitness .and my watch only last for two days.
After i remove it it last longer then 4 days
Sounds like it could be faulty, send it back and get a replacement if you can
I have same problem. rom version 4.2.3.0

Amazfit GTS 2 battery life

Hello,
new product came out, and that is Amazfit GTS 2. Anyone already have the watch? Can 1 week battery life still be achieved if all features are turned on?
Thank you for the answers, I really appreciate it.

This guy is a long term supporter of GTS and GTS2. He praised a lot for the old GTS and its amazing battery
But in his review of GTS2, after using for 10 ten days, he said the battery is really PATHETIC, only last like 2 days.

I saw this video but this is the only one that is saying the battery life is 2 days...so I'm looking for more users that can verify this before I buy it...
Thank you anyway
I found two more review on battery test for you.
https://www.igeekphone.com/amazfit-gtr-2-in-depth-review-2/
In terms of battery life, according to the official statement, Huami Amazfit GTS 2 has a battery life of up to 7 days in daily use mode. I turned on the active heart rate detection + sleep assisted detection mode, turned on the sleep breathing quality test, and used the watch according to my own habits. The power consumption was 29% for 28 hours and 12 minutes, and the battery life was about four days. If you follow the official daily use mode instructions, the battery life will be further extended, and 7 days does not seem to be a problem.
https://www.androidcentral.com/amazfit-gts-2-and-gtr-2-review
What's honestly most impressive of all is that the developer's battery estimates for these smartwatches don't appear to be overblown, a rare thing for smartwatches or tech in general. After a week of use, including using the always-on feature sporadically, tracking my sleep cycles, and going for several workouts with GPS activated, the battery only recently dropped below 50%. Keep in mind that it would drain faster if I had continuous heart rate / SPO2 tracking enabled, but for most users, the GTR 2 could easily last you up to two weeks per charge. For comparison, the GTS 2 has a 7-day battery estimate.
Hope it helps, bro.
Personally, i'm using GTS and see no reason for the upgrade to GTS2. If you haven't bought GTS before, then maybe it's worth it.
No me llega las notificaciones del WhatsApp,
Alguien le llega?
Ya ta solucionado.
I have the gts2. I've had it about a week. Battery with usual use is about 4 days. I have wrist flip detection on high and get about 3 days. Overall I really like the watch. Waiting for Alexa update to come in the future.
I have the GTS 2 since the day it launched in India. Love everything about the watch except battery life.
Battery drain is too much. Hardly getting 2 days. I find it absurd to first purchase smartwatch for its features and then keeping most of them off to get battery life.
It is possible to turn WiFi off and bluetooth on?
Hello, I have it and only two days of battery life. I have a week with him and the clock is not bad at all. Taking advantage of the thread, you know how I can activate the extra functions of the watch.
I bought a few days ago GTR 2, and all is almost perfect except for the battery... firstly from 48% to 10% within 24h, . After fully charged, 3 days and 50% has gonewith one, 1h training per day without GPS.
I like multitasking, wifi (fast watch faces synchro), but AOD drains battery a lot I decided to disable AOD, sleep tracking, switched heart rate to 10min. interval and after 24h battery decreased from 56% to 44%, while I know that people with GTR 1 have 1% per day with almost the same settings...
so I'm really disappointed with such battery life...
Do you have any advices?
@Redmundek, my girlfriend has the same problem. I bought GTS2 for her and GTR2 for me and with the same settings I get ±10 days of battery life and she gets ±3! Did you find any solution?
Have you checked the settings for detection method? Try different option and see:
- automatic heart detection - for me it is Ok
- Sleep assistant - may be the root of possible more draining
- Automatic heart detection & sleep assistant - potentialy draining battery a lot (as far as I remember)
Then other options below: activity detection, heart rate alert, all-day stress monitoring, sleep breathing quality.. I have ticked most of them after different tests. No issue with battery draining (I guess)
I'm using a GTR2 but I remember having seen a big change in the battery draining here when I tested different settings.
Good luck.
Hi, I amended sleep monitoring and stress detection and the battery is quite good, even with AOD from 7:00 till 22:00 (which I prefer) it can works c.a. 5-6 days
