For that you need bootloader unlocked. I think he is trying to do that on stock unmodified .

Thanks.
Just a quick heads up for everyone thinking of using HuRUpdater for Honor 10 as I hard bricked my Honor 10 trying it out even by triple checking instructions carefully. It's definitely not compatible with it. Now I had to get it sent off for warranty repair. :crying:

No nothing at all. Tried everything. It's completely hard bricked. I even tried getting it to boot into fastboot mode but the display doesn't even turn on. I had to beg my mum to let me buy a new smartphone. I'm thankfully getting the OnePlus 6 and will sell the Honor 10 when it comes back from repair to pay my mum back. The only thing stuck in my mind is wishing I had just used erecovery earlier.

I used HurUpdater v0.3.zip and downloaded all firmware files for COL-L29 8.1.0.1.0.4 and renamed the files to match the HurUpdater thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-9/development/tool-flash-official-firmware-recovery-t3769279 Then I flashed in TWRP Recovery. It flashed successfully and I rebooted once complete. Then I got the black screen of death and tried to turn the phone on.
It's strange as the thread shows that it works for the P20 that has the same processor and confirmed by a user.

I think there is some issue with those build in firmware finder one of my friend tried .120 build with HurUpdater and it flashed but got different device build installed. Its showing device as fty-l29 with chipset-boston as build number and may security patch .
But when he tried with 104 his device also bricked and currently can't switch on. Does any one of you know a way to recover it.

Ah okay, glad I'm not alone. I tried to search for solutions too but nothing. It would be ideal if Huawei/Honor had a similar tool like what OnePlus have for there devices because it's as simple as using an MSM Download Tool and installing the Qualcomm Drivers and then flashing all files in the firmware. Huawei/Honor could have one for Kirin devices.

The honor tool mentions that the debranding works only on Android 5.0.
Even if honor tool says that it successfully completed the process, nothing actually gets done.
I have checked it myself a day ago.
You need to rollback to Android 5.0 and then use honor tool imho.

well i think you got it wrong, they mean by that if you want to change your model you need to be on android 5.0 but i didnt change the model i only changed the region, my phone model is still PLK-L01.
i did manage to flash system, cust, recovery and boot, the phone booted up and it's now PLK-L01 C432B380 but still cant flash the whole firmware.
thank you for your reply.

I have a PLK-L01 with build C185B370, I tried to debrand my phone, everything went as it should, phone rebooted but nothing changed, I still had the same firmware and CUST etc.
And C185B370 booted without a hiccup, theoretically (imo), If my phone had debranded successfully to EU version, it should not boot into ME firmware (just my inference).
May be I am deducing something which is not there but this was my reasoning...

same here after debranding but go to settings about and check your build it will be C432B100
do as i did, after debranding download the C432B380 then extract the firmware files and flash boot, system, recovery and cust.
my phone now is PLK-L01C432B380 with emui 4.0.1 dont try to flash the whole firmware it wont work, use the unbrick option in the multi tool to flash it. hope it will work for you.

Best way for you will be to use honor multi-tool to debrand your phone to an EU version and then use its updates to update to latest MM build B380.
Alternatively, you can try to find MM build for C636 using the tool provided in the following thread

Oops, sorry, forgot one thing, you need to be rooted for the first method and as rooting comes after unlocking bootloader (which voids warranty), its best that you use the second method if you are not rooted already.
On the other hand, if you want to root and debrand, follow any of the tutorials online or just ask for help here.
Enjoy...

i am not sure if this works, but if you were to download the latest version, extract update.app and put it into dload folder, restart phone and push vol + vol - as well as power at the same time, wouldn't it force to update the entire phone with all bells and whistles as well?

Yep, it will if he has a firmware for his phone but actually he can not find ome and if there is none, he needs to debrand to another model to be able to install that model's update.

You may want to check CM13 for Honor 7.
Hi
Latest lollipop ROM for that model is B211.
You can download it from here:
http://emui.huawei.com/plugin/hwdownload/detail?modelId=171
There are two files there, one is B211 Stable ROM, and the other is Beta ROM 5.12.16.
You will have to update using three button method, and it will completely erase your data (BACKUP FIRST!)
After that, you can request update on HiCare app, or wait a few days, you will get B380 MM update, then probably B383.
You can also try Beta ROM, which works fine and it gets 2 updates per month. It's also on MM.
Regards.

But when I start installing with update.bat (http://www.stechguide.com/install-android-8-0-oreo-on-huawei-p10), it stops when I am in TWRP mode. TWRP does not find my p10 in usb mode. So no installation. Any suggestions?

You don't need to Wipe anything. Internal sd is mounted in /data which is not wiped.
Well, it's either that or use HWOTA to update.

Yeah, you'd have to restore stock Recovery, and OTA might install (it checksums partitions and if they don't match the update fails)
You could still use Firmware finder to install FullOTA.
