Is there a custom kernel for X like there was for Z series OC , battery saving etc?
there are various mods! specially battery saving! however nothing specifically designed for X (yet)
you may try XZ thermal fcs (build from Z5 / Z5p)

He's asking for kernel, not for the mod. Kernels are much more flexible than any mods out there, imho.
But FSC is pretty good too)
A-a-a-anyways, there's only one custom kernel (for Oreo, Nougat have Genesis Kernel, but that's another story) and it's made by YasuHamed. But nothing stops you from creating your own kernel / forking changes from GK and porting it to stock Oreo one.
Good luck.

HELLO!
BEFORE we start.... This is not a post to ask what is the best rom, its basically asking what rom is on your phone?
I had a post similar to this on another forum, and people loved it, so its a question for you all.....
What are you running, when I mean running.....I mean Rom, Your Set Up (launcher, kernal etc)m what else makes your mobile special????
Worldwide we all use our phones differently, and this post is just to see what users set up your phone like
Is there a theme you use? a specific game? anything you wish to add :silly:
I'm using OP2 since last year September and running SkyDragon 4.0 (based on OOS 3.0. Beta community build). I have tried almost all roms currently there are in the forum(including Nougat roms), but none of them give me as good as battery life as this SD rom, except PA. However, PA has some bugs I can not live with.
BrokenOs + Boeffla kernel + Nova launcher + Arise Sound System
Official cm13, stock kernel with a few xposed modules. Nothing fancy for me.
Hunter's CM14 + Ben's 4.3 Kernel + Nova Launcher Prime + Substratum theme engine
My question is, whats the best android version to use to get the best performance, speed and fluidity with aosp roms like CM ?
4.4.4
5.1.1
6.0.1
There's more to it than mere version. CPU governors in the kernel for instance. It all depends on battery life. Personally I'd only use MM or N. Afterwards install a custom kernel and tweak the governor.
The only reason why roms are generally sluggish on this phone are due to the governors and lack of overclocking by default.

For example on an S2, I had tried two different CM 13 version's. One lagged like hell, the other was swift as anything. One was compiled with Uber, one was compiled with linaro. The kernel presets probably differed too.
Are there any EUI based roms with KCAL? Or is it possible to manually add it to them? If so how?
Or if not what is the most compatible rom to use with it? I heard people say Omni ROM Android 7 version but that doesn't seem to come with KCAL? At least it doesn't mention it - how do you add it to it?
The reason i'd rather stay with EUI is I don't want camera issues (and also would like the IR remote to work).
Thanks!
Anyone?
I'm on Omni 7 (great rom) and it does come with kcal, under settings>omni gears>device features>display color (kcal) but it doesn't have any effect. I do however use the screen settings on kernal auditor (with blackscreen kernel) and it works great. I have found reducing saturation intensity to 20, and minimum RGB value to 35, greatly improves the display and makes the reds in particular much more natural and less garish.
Also camera works perfectly on this rom (I use pixel camera mod) and remote works fine. No need to stay on ****ty eui.
If you want to stick to EUI you can try this kernel with kernel auditor for kcal
https://forum.xda-developers.com/le-max-2/development/lambda-kernel-reborn-le-max2-t3767401
Oh thanks for the reply!
Could you give me a quick overview of what I have to do then?
Can I flash Omni 7 straight over the top of Small EUI or do i have to go back to stock first? Do i need to do the "wipe everything" while flashing with twrp?
I thought that the underlying linux kernel was basically part of the rom and so you couldn't really then add a random kernel to an existing cfw but that the rom itself had to choose a kernel to build upon? So you're implying that's not the case and you can just add blackscreen to any rom?
And it says it's discontinued, is it still okay to use? https://forum.xda-developers.com/le-max-2/development/kernel-blackscreen-leeco-x2-t3604445
Would i want 3 or 3.5.i ?
And what's the pixel camera mod, is it just an app or do you need to do anything special?
Just give me a quick overview of steps
If i can sort this then i can finally start using my phone properly
Thanks

Are you sure lambda kernel had kcal support?
I don't think lambda kernel does - i just installed the zip of it with twrp and i can't find any "screen" option in the menu of kernel adiutor (why does it have such a weird misspelt name?).
Reading the lambda kernel thread it seems kcal is not yet supported but people are asking for it so it may happen.
Yes Omni 7 can be flashed over small eui as long as you format system, data, etc. And it works fine with Blackscreen kernel 3.5.
Pixel camera is a port of the Google camera app on their Pixel Phone, with great features like HDR+ and portrait mode. Highly recommended.

First thing it's wrong section
custom ROM depends on users choice and usage and different people may have different views
if you look for best stability but limited customization opt for omni ROM or AOSP-E
If you looking for super customisations then go for CrDroid, Resurrection Remix, Havoc-OS etc
but if you looking for balanced one along with decent battery backup go for MiracleDroid
my recommendation CrDroid
daily driver ( must try) : MiracleDroid
I found that the latest AOSiP (Illusion Project) combined with Stormguard kernel gave me really excellent battery life, had lots of options and good performance.
I also really like Alexey711's LineageOS Extended. I don't think he posts here on XDA, but keeps his wares on AFH. He updates regularly and provides lots of good options.
Then lastly, I also love MIUI 10. I prefer Xiaomi.eu's version, but also really like Escobar1945's version (eagerly waiting for that update!).
In the end though, every single user has different needs and different usage patterns. Best thing is to try them all. Try different combinations of ROMs and kernels until you find one that works best for you.

What is the difference between both ROM's? Which one is more future proof?
I'm asking because Ricky Divjakovski is working on both projects.

Yes i am working on both projects, multiple others aswell the team, im restricted from disclosing alot but i think everyone knows where the team is headed.
ATVXperience - We aim at giving users the closest and most stable experience of official Android TV firmware.
Poison Rom - A bloatless, optimized, bug fixed and UI friendly version based on the latest most efficient firmware.
ATVEperience - A more practical ROM to convert the device to a media player, and pretty much that only(ofcoarse you can do other tasks still)
Poison Rom - More of a test firmware aimed at optimizing and testing methods and tweaks to make the device as fast and as snappy as possible while also modding the UI to make it much easier to the eye
Both ROMs aim to be as universal as possible.
Both ROMs use the PoisonCompiler optimizations and tweaks.
Both ROMs implement pretty much the same bug fixes.
The difference? it all comes down to the user and their personal preference.

Yes, we support a range of devices with stock based firmware and modified firmware, i no longer work with ATVx and me and poison now has 4 members we plan on taking over
I have found the RedPoison ATV roms but where are the ones you have created that are not ATV based?

Some links are dead and we are in the process of making generic firmware that supports all devices
As of May 2020, what are the latest Poison Roms available for S912 devices?
