Huawei secret defragmentation feature( probably only on oreo) - Huawei P10 Guides, News, & Discussion

Hey guys, I discovered a year ago, that phone companies(samsung, one plus,huawei...) and android, are hiding features that some of them are very useful. One of them is the defragmentation of huawei. So, what is that mean "defragmentation"? It is the organization of files. Defrag your phone/PC make your performance & battery better. Then how to defrag you huawei device? Just follow my instructions.
1)open play store
2)download apk which called "QuickShortcutMaker"
3)open it
4)Find "Settings"(Not the settings of QuickShortcutMaker)
5)click on it
6)Find the process: com.huawei.systemmanager/com.huawei.systemmanager.spacecleanner.SpacePieceCleanActivity
7)click on it
8)Click on Try
9)just click on the blue button(suggestion: Defrag your phone at least once in a month).

Defragging a solid state drive will typically gain no performance benefits. Since there’s no head to move, there’s no additional time cost in fetching one chunk of data from a flash drive over any other. It doesn’t matter how the files are laid out; it’s all just as fast
If you’re regularly defragging a flash drive, you’re adding*thousands upon thousands*of write operations each time you do so. Whatever the expected*lifespan of the device, you could easily be cutting it in half, or worse.

Then how can you explain that?

Also, after I defraged my phone, it became much faster.

On my p10 o,it simply takes me to normal cleaning app/window... no defrag window
app version 8.0.0.300

same here.
there is no defragmentation screen, just the regular clean window.
b369 vtr-l29.

Are you sure opened that right process?

If you don't have it, I guess that if i will share with you the file of that service, you will be able to install it and use it. Be sure that you opened the right process.

There is no such process for setting file.
It is present for system manager app though.
If you check the process name it is identical with the one You are mentioning in OP but it opens the clean file process not defragmentation.

You are ABLE to defragment a solid state drive, which means that some parts of some files will be closer to each other so you will skip like one or two operations where the location of the other parts is read. However it is much faster compared to HDDs, where moving the head and waiting for the disk to rotate into the proper pos takes a couple of milliseconds. But to see how pointless it is for mobile devices, just look at some random access/write speed comparisons between HDDs and SSDs/flash drives.

Huawei seems to disagree with you as I got the notification this morning. Maybe the Kirin does things differently?

I've got EMUI 8.0 too. Probably it's an "fstrim" feature.

Maybe. Look guys, I won't argue with you but why huawei would have a reason to build this feature. But if someone will be able to understand the reason then please share with us. And I know you all right about the pointless defragment of mobile devices, but it seem to be strange that my performance got better after defragment.

Of my ****ing god! He is right! Kirin work's differently. I found out that kirin processor is defrag the storage. Here, check it out:

And also this

From what i found, Huawei p10 file system type's is f2fs which is support defragmentation.

Several things can cause a rise in temperature. Multiple apps running, using browser with multiple tabs open or high data usage. Also games can cause heating. It's probably normal but keep an eye on it for a bit.

Yes absolutely.
It is on all my devices whether I'm in a browser or not, my note 4 my tab s.... it's like these swirls embedded in the screen
I got a response from Samsung saying

[RELEASE][OEM] Encrypt phone for OEM stock ROM

For some reason the OEM stock ROM lacks an encryption option in the menus. Here's an APK that will fix that little problem for you. The APK is attached to this post and of course on my mirror server at the link below as well. Enjoy!
[REDACTED]
Just install and run.
P.S. It should theoretically work on ANY phone running Marshmallow, but most of those have Encrypt options in the settings, so not really sure why you would want this.
Excuse my ignorance, this apk for what??

Think of it this way. What if you were to get your phone stolen? What if the person who stole it has a bit of knowledge on android phones? Even with a passcode, its kinda easy to access the data. You say open book, but im pretty sure either way you wouldn't really want some stranger sifting through your data. And you might have something on there if you think hard enough that you dont want in someone elses hands. Thats why encryption is important. Because getting to the data is one thing, but accessing it is another thing.

I don't even password protect anymore, nothing on my phone worth hiding. But I agree, if I had anything on it, I definitely would not want them sifting through it.

App launch speed

OMG! Kim K posted another selfie with tons of cleavage! Rate this thread to express how quickly apps launch on the LG G6. A higher rating indicates that even the most intensive apps launch quickly and without hesitation, even if they are no longer in RAM.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
Everything I've launched opens blazingly fast, and I have over 400 apps installed already. (copied a lot of my other stuff from my other phone over to it. OH, and I did it with LG Backup / LG Mobile Switch which worked much quicker than expected. Even the installations of the apps was almost instant each... well except really big apps/games, but those still took no time compared to my older phones.
Unfortunately I had to Rate one star. The basic feature of adding a 2nd google account to google apps, freezes the phone and crashes. Without Root, on a verizon locked bootloader I will be unable to fix the problem. Looks like I need to return, and consider the Pixel or purchase a MXPE.

You used Lg Backup and Switch to copy apps because you already had an Lg phone or does it work with other brands?
I copied from my LG-G2 to my LG-G5 via the WiFi option. I'm not sure if it'll work with other phones, but I'd think it was LG specific.
Yeah probably.
I don't know of anything else than Titanium Backup on rooted phones to get every apps exactly like they were from a phone to another.
There is a 1-2 second lag after tapping an app icon and time to get launched
LG Bridge wouldn't work on Win 7 64x

Was going to use this LG software to backup my Sprint LG G6 phone on my computer. Software installed on computer properly. Couldn't get it to work as software wouldn't recognize USB connection. Samsung support said software only works with Win 10. Nothing on their website says anything about this restriction. Just FYI...

Apparently it's much better with the Oreo update. Older iPhones do not have this delay (although the content takes longer to load). No reason for it other than software.
I still can't get the LG Bridge software to work on my computer either, which is win7 so I believe the Win10 only thing. I think that was a stupid move by them, but I use other ways to backup so not too concerned.
Android 8.0 is an amazing update. I already loved my phone for what it is but with this update, I gained over 3GB of space back on my internal storage (i guess it removed clutter and uses a smaller framework) and all of the new options seem to allow much more control than before.
I was going to jump to the LG-G7, but being that I already bought 2 of the 10,000 maH extended batteries for this one that serve me well, I don't think I'm going to change anytime soon. I have a backup phone (bought 2 LG-G6) so I am just going to use the LG Backup thing and copy everything to my other phone. if anything happens I can just start that one and have an almost exact duplicate, minus any updates i've done and whatever was on the SD card which i'm sure is just booty shaking videos, dot pixel porn, photos, music, and random stuff I probably shouldnt be wasting space on anyway.

Is this relevant to app launch speed?
Just did a factory reset, a long time after installing the Oreo update which gave me a few other issues...
Apps load up without a single hesitation now! It's fantastic.
I finally bit the bullet and did this too, and there is an improvement in the opening apps lag. Let's hope it holds up over time.

If the phone is locked like with pin code and stuff like that, anyone can pass that by using a custom Recovery to delete some stuff from system or he can do it using adb.
If you mean an encrypted storage, then it would be hard, but like you said "high tech computers and softwares" they will possibly be able to do it.
And hackers these days don't need to have the phone to hack it, they are capable of hacking remotely!!
But don't worry, it's nothing to be worry about because the chance of this happening to you is too low, they probably target very high business men and political characters and people like that
anyway, i don't recommend keeping your sensitive information in the phone(bank accounts, IDs...), it's so dangerous like that.

About computers, i have no idea, but anyway, to hack remotely, it requires an infected file to get inside the phone, so you have to be safe, that infected file might simply capture the screen and show them what you're typing in the password field.
BUT as long as you don't download anything from anywhere you're safe.
Apps and games should be trusted and only be downloaded from play store.
If you're using a laptop, you should switch to Linux OS immediately, it's much much safer than Windows, especially these days ransom-ware's hackers encrypted many PCs and asked for money to get the encryption code.
Happened to people i know, but never happened to someone with Linux operating system.

MAC is great as well.
About the Nogut upgrade, I'm not sure that is only about the OS, native OS might be less secure than the company's OS, even if both OSs are Nogut, the Company add modifications and security to its OS that make it more secure.

Question OMG! The amount of bloatware from VZW should be a crime.

This seriously had me considering going back to the Pixel. Unbelievable amount of redundant software, games, just tons of it... ugh...
So is the ADB AppControl program still the best and current option in your opinions for removing the software?
...Or does Flashing a different firmware alleviate this issue?
In my opinion yes. And it's free. You can disable or enable with a click. Also connects wirelessly and can be used to deblaot Galaxy Watch
Installing ADB system wide in Windows has been the way I have always debloated my devices. The amount of Samsung, Google, and T-Mobile bloatware from mine. I use Package Name Viewer 2.0 from the PlayStore to make sure I have the correct package names when uninstalling them.
Adb app control or universal android debloater gui from github either will help you. I shrunk mine to around 22gb after I was done Uninstalling crap
Samsung is a mess. People are still using/buying the N10+; Sammy's last great flagship before they started going off the rails.
New ones can still be had loaded with Q, used ones for much less. If you need 1+tb of storage, good SOT in a powerful, snappy fast well balanced phone with an excellent form factor, this is still a great buy. $300-650 for the Snap variant.
You can use Package Disabler if it works on Android 13, it's the easiest option.
ADB edits is more difficult, but more comprehensive.
Do Not disable the many small Samsung system apps unless you know exactly what they do... and their dependencies if any!!!
Is there a list of what we can disable ?
Tried the adb commands for bixy (that camera thingy) but they're still active...

Not gonna lie MIUI is an mess,
There alot of programs than are useless, and some system bloatwares ( for example Music app, )
And even some system apps have ads, but the ADB or Lucky patcher are an angel to this situation.

There is another Package Disabler that is cloud based and it's around $6.00 a year. You can buy a licenses for as many phones as you want. Been using it since the Note 10 with no issues at all, and you don't get charged for every android update. You can enable and disable bloat on the fly, no need for a PC or adb.
https://www.packagedisabler.com/
Developer got enough of my money..lol adb app control is free. To each their own
When I had the S22 Ultra, I just installed the U1 firmware. It's much cleaner than Verizon's version and even then you may have to use ADB to eliminate some bloatware.
What bloat are you guys talking about that cant be easily disabled/uninstalled ?
So Samsung finally put the same SoC in the entire S23 lineup. Hurrah, that only took 10 years! Now they should end their duplication of Google Apps. It's hard to imagine Samsung is benefiting in a significant manner by forcing these apps on everyone. Their devices have always had a ton of bloatware then add in the Carrier's crap and you're up to your eyeballs in bloat. We could likely free up 20% of our Internal Storage if Samsung's and the Carrier's sorted this out but it's likely too much of an ask. These aren't their phones we own them!

If it makes you feel any better...simply putting a Verizon SIM in a Pixel still seems to result in some Verizon apps being downloaded.
