Oppo realme 1 is having automatic brightness compensation option while unlocking the phone through face id in dim light.
In my phone this feature works well after a reboot but after some time this compensation stopped working and become normal after next reboot but stops again when I put my phone on charging.
Any help or someone facing the similar issue
In low light face unlock doesn't work so we have to type 6 digit pin which is too much time taking so either make the pin of 4 digit or provide a pattern unlock.
Pattern unlock
There is an option for pattern inlock. And you can change the pin to 4 digit or even 16 digit in settings.

Have you seen in settings there is an option to turn on screen brightness compensation in face unlock settings.
So when you turn on this screen will light with white light so that face unlock can work in low light..
In my case this feature working sometimes but most of the times not working I need to reboot my phone to work it properly.
This is a software glitch from oppo which needs an upgrade to solve it

There is a option to use pattern instead of pin while using face unlock....
The option is under the name of OTHER ENCRYPTION METHOD (not sure) while providing face or setting new way of ENCRYPTION.

Maybe a dumb question, but my standard lock screen keeps switching from left/up and right/up to unlock, is their a way to specify which you prefer until some can make one of the better programs truly disable the standard lock?
Security settings - Change Lock Pattern
when the phone is locked you can do 2 things to the touchscreen
1. Unlock the phone
2. change the direction of the unlock motion by dragging the top corner of the arc towards the side of the phone you'd prefer.
Mine changed in my pocket a couple of times and I thought I was losing my mind, then I thought it must use the moton sensor to figure out which hand your holding the phone in. Eventually worked out how to change it.

I think you might have misunderstood, I do not mean the lock pattern, just the actual unlock (i.e. flick up with thumb) to unlock the device then you get to the pattern if one is set.

Dang, thanks bazzatron, this was really getting on my nerves....and such a simple thing I could not find in the manual.
I was drunk when I stumbled across how to change it.

Lol, I'll have to think about that next time I have to solve an issue.
So I am sure you guys are aware of the pretty big security whole for Pattern Lock in the AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 2.
For those of you who dont know, the problem is that lets say you have a pattern lock enabled. You turn on the screen and w/o drawing the pattern let it dim.
If you try to unlock the screen again, it wont ask for your pattern. It works as if the pattern lock is disabled.
I was wondering if anyone has a way around this? or know any other possible solution for this since I hate putting pin number as a security.
Thank you

Yes we're aware, and yes, there's a workaround, it's even in a goddamned AT&T press release!
Have you considered rereading the XDA rules? Pay attention to rule #1, you just broke it.

re-setting their time-out screen to the "immediately" setting. This is done by going to the Settings->Location and Security->Screen unlock settings->Timeout->Immediately. "
I got this and I tried doing it earlier, but for some reason it still didnt work. I guess I was doing something wrong and will try it again.

Its not the phone or a security hole...it's you...this was only a problem when some people made it one...
If you just unlocked then let it time out after say a minute then quickly pushed the unlock button the phone is smart enough to know that the same person pushing the unlock button is the same one who unlocked it by swiping 1 to 2 minutes before...
And like Entropy said which you clearly ignored....
This is OLD news and not even considered a real issue....nor a security hole....

Not a lot to say other than it works for me. You have to make sure your face is not backlit or it wont see the features it needs to unlock
Worth mentioning, my mate at work took a photo with me on his iphone and he was able to unlock my phone with that.
Also, if its dark, it wont recognise your face. It will go to your alternative method but there can be a delay so its slow to unlock your phone in dark places.

Hi all
Set a face detection unlock
1 In the application list, select Settings → Lock screen →
Screen lock → Face unlock.
2 Select Next → Set it up → Continue.
3 Adjust the device to fit your face inside the figure.
4 When your face is captured correctly, select Continue.
5 Complete the setup of the secondary unlock PIN or
pattern.
Confirm if you are happy
Hello,
I AM new to xda developers, i have allready searched what i was looking for without any luck.
I was looking for a customized locking system, and i don't mean changing the theme or wallpaper on your locking screen, but an alternative way to unlock your phone every time you turn your screen back on.
it used to be with a 4 digit code, then they changed it to a pattern, then to a lock that u drag to an outer circle which then unlocks the phone.
the thing is, i find the 2 last ones rediculous, anyone can open the last one, and the pattern...well, u look at it once and u know it aswel.
but then again, if u have to input a 4 digits code every time you start your phone, well that is also irritating.
I have never programmed for android, though i have programmed in my days as a programmer, my question is... if i get into it... will i be able to create my own locking system? or are they all predefined?
for example, something rly random: on the lock-screen, the front-side camera turns on and unlock the phone when it detects a smiling face.
+ giving u the ability to input a 4 digit code if you're not in the mood to smile at your phone.
any insight would be helpful!
Device: Redmi Note 4Global version (Snapdragon 625, 64GB / 4GB)
I have the strangest issue with my fingerprint scanner, in addition to some other problems.
Started In RR rom latest build.
My main issue:
The phone will not recognise my left index finger(that i used to unlock with regularly ). But works perfectly fine for all my other fingers
When I try unlock with my left index finger, it says "notrecognised", I then have to use my pin to get in again
But if I use any other finger that is registered, it unlocks. NOT ONLYTHIS, but if I use my left finger even once, I have to use my pin. But if I geta "not recognised" for any of my other registered fingers, I can thenretry with the same finger, and it unlocks. It seems like my left index finger always forces the phone to resort to my backup unlock method (pin, pattern, password), but my other registered fingers seem to have unlimited tries.
It doesn't make sense. If it was a software issue, it would not be consistent across the different ROMs
If it was an issue with my finger, nothing has changed since yesterday. I haven't got any cuts, or markings.
If it was a hardware issue, it shouldn't recognise any of my fingers.
What I've tried:
1. Removing the finger, and re-adding it
2. Washing my hands
3. Cleaning my fingerprint sensor
4. Taking my case off
5. Using Pattern +fingerprint unlock
6. Wiping cache, system, dalvik cache, internal storage, data, and reinstalling the ROM
7. Flashing another custom ROM (AOSP Extended)
8. Going back to my original ROM (Resurrection remix)
9. Flashing back to stock using MiFlash (latest MIUI version)
10. Going back to RR
11. Going back to AOSPextended

Try this -
Screen lock > register your unrecognised finger
and add patern/pin
then go to settings
and don't delete the fingerprints
but remove the screen lock itself
and then add screen lock and register fingerprint
This is working, thanks to @JackSparrow17

Hey....
Remove all your registered fingerprints.
Remove all your pin,pattern..etc.
Make sure you can unlock the phone with just a swipe.
Now re -register your fingerprint.
This worked for me.
