Hi all
I have a question/problem about my files on SD Card.
When I connect my sony ericsson xperia neo with the pc even if it is locked with a pattern I can still access all the files on SD card from USB.
I haven't found a way to encrypt the whole or part of the SD.
In my previous phone (windows mobile 6.1) there was an option where you could encrypt files in sd so that when i connected it through usb to pc, the pc asked me for password first and then read the files. Also i couldn't read the sd with a card reader cause it was encrypted.
Is there an option to encrypt the whole sd or at least part of it?
If so,how?Do i need to use an extra program from android market? Is there an option to do that from the operating system?
I will search for a way to do so...that is really necessary...I have used symbian and maemo before android...in symbian you can set password for sdcard and it becomes unreadable by pc.

I have tried to find a way for days now. Nothing so far. I read that in ICS encryption will be available. Well,if that's the case i guess we'll have to wait till then.
It's a bit shame though because this is a HUGEEEEE security issue that I dont understand why i don't see much fuss about it!!!I'm amazed!
There r a lots of other issues...in my opinion android is still evolving and there is a long way ahead...even then android is by far the best mobile OS.

Hello all,
So I upgraded the phone to ICS 4.0.3 and it seems I cannot find an option to encrypt phone under settings > security.
What I have found is this:
If i connect to pc through usb I need to enter my screen password in order to be able to read the SD Card.
BUT, when I remove the sd card and enter it to an external card reader ALL data are available.
Is there no option to fully encrypt the SD Card in ICS?
What the heck?
Hello all,
So I just got this phone of the weekend and I'm loving every single bit of it. Now when I wanted to transfer to contents of my Old 32GB sdcard to the internal sdcard slot in the phone I connected it to my Linux box and it tried loading 2 drives, one did and one failed. I wasn't able to access the internal memory. Now as soon as I connected it to a Windows 7 box it loading a virtual "CDROM" which HTC Sync install and the internal memory of the phone (32GB) and I was able to copy everything then.
Windows isn't my OS of choice, is there a way to get this up and running in Linux? anyone has had any progress?
Thank you.

Answer to this question can be found in the following thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2329213
Verizon HTC Rezound, rooted, using stock ROM with some bloatware uninstalled. Android 4.0.3 (4.03.605.2 710RD, received OTA from Verizon ages ago... I really haven't messed much with this phone).
Windows 7 Pro (both my laptop and my desktop... I've tried this two places now).
Whenever I plug it into one of my computers, I can only open the drive that has TL-Bootstrap.exe and the drv and img folders. The SD card and the internal storage (faked SD card, I guess it is) come up as Removable Disks, but they're greyed out and I can't open them in Windows Explorer. I don't get a popup for connection type whenever I connect the phone to a computer, but I have gone in the settings and set it to ask every time and also to default to disk drive.
I've cleaned my system of drivers, installed HTC_BMP_USB_Driver_x64_1.0.5375.msi and HTCDriver_4.2.0.001.exe and the drivers appear to have installed correctly. I don't think this is a computer problem... I'm thinking it's a Rezound problem. Phone works fine otherwise, and I can see the SD card using Astro and/or Root Explorer.
I've tried it with USB Debugging on and USB Debugging off. Fastboot is off.
I've uninstalled almost every program (I'm going to wipe it and give it to a friend, but want to fix this issue first).
Still installed:
Titanium Backup
TrustGo
Twicca
Verizon Messages
SMS Backup & Restore
SuperSU
SD Maid + Pro Unlocker
Android Lost
Greenify
Better Battery Stats
Barcode Scanner
BatteryGuru
Apex Launcher
BusyBox
AdFree
Can anyone help me figure out WTF is going on? I just want to copy stuff to and from the SD card to my computer, and she's going to want to do the same to restore her programs.

Guess this phone is kind of a dead model, eh?
Download the latest HTCSync and install as administrator.
Try a live Linux CD... I am guessing this is more a PC config than anything else.
If all else fails, use ES Explorer or something similar and copy every thing to external SD and do a factory default with the card removed and try again

I uninstalled the android 2.3 system and tried tried to install cyanogen mod, but it does not start is always trying to install and I can not do anything with the cellphone. The odin does not recognize the phone to re-install the original android can not even copy it to the internal memory of the phone and install it. What do I do??, i have a Samsung galaxy s plus GT-I9001, with 350 mb RAM??
ps: To install the mod cyanogem I connected the phone to the PC and copied the software to internal memory and installed from the mobile phone, through the hard reset menu.
The problem is not able to connect the mobile phone to the pc in downloading mode because the odin does not recognize neither I can not connect to the phone without software.
grateful for the help
I'm using Sony Xperia E4 with Android v4.4.4 and I need rescue my deleted photoes. Please help me.
Were your photos deleted now, or 6 months ago? If they were deleted 6 months ago and you have been using the phone regularly since, then there is almost no chance of recovering them if you had no backups of them.
If they were deleted now and they were on the SD card, then take out the SD card securely, put it in an SD card reader on a PC and run a program like the paid version of MiniTool Power Data Recovery -a great recovery app in my experience.
If they were on the internal storage, you might be able to recover the photos by plugging in the device to the computer directly with a USB cable (USB debugging enabled) and running the above software, but I have not tested that method.
If you are unsure about the above steps, there are alternative options to try out here.
As always, more information can be found here.
Let us know if it works out for you!
