bootloader cracked or not? unlock phone possible?

Hi, I saw the news (on july) that the bootloader was cracked but then the posts about it's a lie and then the custom kernels appear and I don't know if the bootloader is unlocked or not.
My question is if there will be a way to free unlock the phone (sim unlock) shortly or better go paying an unlock code.
Thank you.
The custom kernels are here because some clever devs figured out how to bypass the bootloader to load unsigned kernels.
Apparently, Zdzihu is working with a mystery dev about unlocking the bootloader, and apparently, they have done it. Nothing has been released to us about it yet however.
Regarding your question, until the bootloader is unlocked, you will need to pay an unlocking service to sim unlock your phone. If the bootloader is unlocked, you might still need to pay an unlocking service.

Yum, no matter the bootloader is unlocked, the SIM unclocking is different and not relate to bootloader.

Actually, If you remember back to the flame war between Max and the_laser, much of the hype was about SIM unlock, as unlocking the bootloader would give us direct access to where SIM lock information is stored. I believe this is one of the reasons that SE will not unlock the bootloader, as they are in agreement with various carriers to keep it locked. The carriers obviously don't want people ditching them whenever they feel like it.
Edit:
I might have misunderstood your post. Sorry about that. But the bootloader is directly related to the SIM lock, on this phone at least, hence why I stated "If the bootloader is unlocked, you might still need to pay an unlocking service."

Best place for root and unlock? Bootloader?

I have a T mobile sim card on the way in the mail and it should be here by tomorrow or thursday. My service is locked to ATT. I thought my phone was rooted and unlocked until I put someone elses sim into my phone and went to a cell phone store that was going to charge me $60 to unlock my phone. I guess my root method didn't work. There are so many year old threads that I don't know which ones are useful and which ones will not leave me with a bricked phone.
So my questions are:
What is the best method of rooting and also having bootloader?
What is the best method to unlock my phone afterwards?
Can someone give me clear instructions?
:crying:
download flashtool 0.9 from the following link and you can root. unlock bootloader and flash Clock Work Recovery (CWM), busybox and anything else you want to...

Flashtool is the safest way (and easiest by far) to root. You connect your phone in debugging mode and click the button por root and done.
Root=/=SIM unlock

Does CynogenMod unlock the bootloader?

I'm reading on their wiki and it says if your bootloader is locked when installing CynogenMod, it will unlock it for you.
On other websites/wiki's, I'm reading that in order to install CynogenMod, you need your bootlocker unlocked first.
So which one is it?
The point of a locked bootloader is for the manufacturers to maintain system integrity by disallowing modifications to the device's partitions. There are exceptions to the rule.

Sorry, what? This doesn't answer my question.
Bootloader is like the mom of your device granting "permission" to roms(cyanogenmod) to be installed.
It fist need be unlocked
So practically yes it unlocks your bootloader (which you can lock again afterwards, why , how google )

Okay, thank you.

Root, magisk without unlock bootloader, possible easy but problematic

Please take this as a curiosity, and don't try it at home?
It is easy and possible (almost the same procedure as on unlocked bootloader) install magisk on K20 and root it without unlocked bootloader.
On edl validated account u can via edl flash boot image and have root without unlock and wipe data.
But phone after ota stuck on bootlogo. And need edl flash.
But if you root it when waiting for unlock you can work with root and wait for unlock. And unlock it (and factory reset).
If someone need exaxcly procedure, write pm.
You will get "system has been destroyed" after flash boot-modified image, please dont post crap
Have you actually tried this?

Because the last time I tried on Z2 plus it didn't boot. Bootloader actually checks for modified system image ohh booting and halts it when it senses bits are changed
You're guaranteed to get a hard brick and need that EDL authorised account a second time if you ever try this.
So yeah don't do it... If you want root/Magisk you have to unlock the bootloader, there's no way around it.
