OEM Rom.
Upgraded from Android Nougat 7.1 to Oreo 8.0.0 with March Security Updates
Running stock Samsung Experience 9.0
Build number
R16NW.N950USQU3CRC2
Looking to unlock bootloader, and gain unfettered, non-tethered root.
Anyone bump me in the right direction on how to do this please? I need it for a couple of apps I'd like to use that I have paid for in past, that require root access to device for full functionality.
Thanks I'm advance team [emoji3]

As seen on Sammobile :
"The leaked OTA requires the device to be on firmware version N950USQS2BQK2, which is the latest official build and only available for unlocked Note 8 units on Verizon at this point. However, to get around that limitation, any unlocked Note 8 owner can get the N950USQS2BQK2 firmware on their device by following the upgrade path suggested by the Reddit user. Also, this is only for the Snapdragon-powered Galaxy Note 8 in the US, if that wasn’t clear already."
"Naturally, we don’t support flashing unofficial software unless it comes directly from Samsung as part of a beta test program, so you’re on your own and would require some knowledge of flashing firmware (both via a PC and through the phone’s recovery mode) if you decide to try this out. What we can suggest is looking at a few step-by-step guides that seem to be making the rounds online with directions for installing the leaked Oreo build.
We would also suggest making a proper backup of your Note 8 via Samsung Smart Switch (or any of your favorite backup apps) before trying the test Oreo firmware, as you may have to wipe all your phone’s data (including images and other files on the internal storage). And, if you do install it, let us know how it works! To see what features Oreo is bringing to the Galaxy S8, check out our exhaustive What’s New With Android 8.0 Oreo series, which should apply to the Note 8 as well."

Android Oreo OTA (this is real)
"Hey, Here is a link to the Android Oreo OTA
https://samsung.firmware.science/download?url=48993/1488/SS-N950USQS2BQK2-to-U2CQL1-UP https://drive.google.com/file/d/1xTtsn6gcg4JEX2dYKPiXTWVhPiGPzIBn/view?usp=drivesdk
Before you can do this build you will need to be on 2BQK2, so to get to that you need this build: https://samsung.firmware.science/download?url=48993/1488/SS-N950USQU2BQJA-to-S2BQK2-UP
ODIN for BQK2: https://drive.google.com/uc?id=19gW_CxUf2HdL4UYyxTkyOnBY8cluRIVS&export=download
this file for BQJA is on SamMobile, SamFirm, and Updato. These are OTA updates besides the flashing required in that.
I currently have an S8 on the Oreo beta and will be buying a Note8 this weekend because of this. I AM SO EXCITED!
Oh just a side note, this may be unstable and crash, you have been warned."

Hopefully Exynos Oreo will get leaked too ?.
If anyone tried it already, how is it? Any new features?
I tried this. I get errors on the oreo update. I just odined the AP, CSC, and CP so i take it i need to odin BL rest to get this to work. I'm a little hesitant because of having an unlocked phone so if a unlock BL exploit comes I don't want the inability to odin back to unlocked BL. Not sure if it's possible or if it increments

Title says for unlocked...the unlocked device is SM-N950U1 and this leak is the AT&T leak...correct?
Not to mention there is already a thread
Thread closed.
There is already a topic for this here
I am brand new to XDA and the Android mod world. I am looking into the possibility of purchasing, rooting, unlocking the Bootloader and installing either a Custom ROM or AOSP on a SM-N950U T-Mobile US/Snapdragon Samsung Galaxy Note 8. The goal is privacy and the hope is that these elements can be included:
+Latest Android OS possible
+MicroG (no GAPPS)
+SPenCommand* App
+XPosed Framework (for more advanced SPenCommand features)
+F-Droid
+Retain or add back in as much T-Mobile functionality as possible.
*Unless a Samsung based ROM exists retaining S-Pen functionality with no GAPPS.
There will be other Apps/Utilities I am sure, however, this is the main bundle I am desiring. Since I am just starting out, I do have some questions:
+Is all of this possible on the “SM-N950U” Note 8 Model?
+If so, what ROM options are available?
+Is there a LineageOS with MicroG ROM for this phone?
+Does the Note 8’s 80% Battery situation exist using a ROM?
+I’ve read of TWRP and Magisk, do these have any relevance to this process?
+Do you know what “XPosed Framework” Module(s) I would need?
+If all of this needs to be pieced together to work, do you know what files I would need?
+Are there any other apps/files you would suggest?
+Any newbie Tutorials you would recommend?
+Would a Note 4, Note 9 or Note 10+ be better options?
What I have been reading so far is a lot to take in and I appreciate any help received.

Not going to happen. You'll need to do some research because the N950U has a locked bootloader and there is currently NO WAY to unlock the bootloader so you can't flash custom roms like that.. However if you buy the international version which is N950F you'll be able to do that..

Thanks MrMike!
Do you know if the N950F Model can be setup to retain all T-Mobile features like VoLTE, WiFi Calling, etc? Is there a better International Model Note (9 or 10?) that retains or can be configured to work mostly or fully with T-Mobile's Network? I appreciate your time.
The only way you will get those features on International version is if a developer were to include multi csc in the rom you flash

I am facing an issue since I bought this device galaxy s8 exynos. I didn't get a single update not even a security patch no software update.
Please can anyone help me I tried many ways but not working. Please I am still living in android Oreo
@Reshinrrj
OEM/Carrier never provide upgrades, but only updates and this only if they consider it necessary. If you want to upgrade then you must flash a Custom ROM of your choice.
But every other s8 users got the 9.0 update and security patch except my device is there any way
Hey there I have rooted my android 10 to enable wps but unfortunately it is not working
So
I want to downgrade android version from 10 to any other version that supports wps connection
Can I and how ?
There is no way in how you could ever downgrade to a version, which was lower than the version the device was preshipped with. You cant downgrade a Galaxy S8 to 6.0.1 for example, as it was introduced with 7.0. Correct me if I am wrong but in my many years of experience, I have never seen something like that. I think the A10s was shipped with Android 9. There is no way how you can get Marshmallow/Nougat/Oreo on that Phone. Sorry!
Hey everyone... I scored a t-mobile branded s6 tab (sm-t867u) that came into my hands running Android 11, build # RP1A.200720.012.T867USQS7CVB1, UI 3.1... from my understanding of samsung nomenclature this means it is already at a bootloader version of 7?
I see there actually is a vector to unlock bootloader on these devices these days, but it stops being available at version 4 I think? Is there any chance I'll be able to ever unlock this devices bootloader in the future or should I give up that hope now?
On a related side note it is desperately trying to update itself to Android 12 apparently, and not seeing any good way to stop that... I assume that will push me to an even higher bootloader version? If that's the case, I take it there isn't a way to stay on android 11 then? Tia..
