My customer want his phone rooted, but it has Mi account lock on and it's required this account to unlock bootloader. But the problem is the customer don't remember and even don't want to know this Mi account so this situation mades me troubled to rooting his phone while he don't know his Mi account (probably Mi account activated by phone seller via seller phone number?)
So the question, how I can unlock bootloader with bypassed Mi account? Because either owner is stupid (as he don't want to know about everything includes settings, the most important is this phone ready to used out-of-the-box without settings forever) or the seller too stupid (as owner don't want get effort at that time)

Apparently I have bought Redmi 5 plus (MPEG7) which was locked with Mi Account or what. The phone works normally, but I cannot add my Xiaomi Account because it gives me some error I don´t remember now.
Tried to update the firmware manually, didn´t help. So I decided to do factory reset, and then, soon after the set up screen I connecet to wifi, my Xiaomi got locked. It says I need to sign in on account which was previously been there.
The guy who sold me this phone, aware me of this, I should not do factory reset because this will happen, but I thought If there is no Mi Account on this phone I am good to go.
Luckily I found local repair shop who helped me to revive this phone by bypassing Mi Account somehow. I can use it with my Gmail account and I still can´t add my Xiaomi Mi Account.
So here goes my question now, how much I can do about that here. Unlocking bootloader and installing custom recovery would help me here. But the thing is I can´t enter my Mi Account on my phone, so that means no unlocking bootloader for me, at least nothing officially.
So my questions goes. Is there any way to unlock bootloader without having MI Account on the phone?
And before I forgot, if I don´t unlock the bootloader, and the phone stay in the same condition, will my phone lock itself again after I update it to MIUI 11, once when the update is available?
For now it is on the latest MIUI available, 10.2 Stable, OEGMIXM
Thanks in advance

Hello!
I have a problem similar to this. And I've been looking for some answers on that. With the current state of the device, I have how to unlock the bootloader, and then install a custom recovery and rom? So far I have not found any answer that is favorable to me. Other than paying for the service.

As far I have did some further research, unfortunately for us there is no solution to this. Basically the phone is connected with the Mi Cloud servers. As there is no alternative to unlock the bootloader, other than the official way, if in any case we got to sign in our account on the phone, the phone will lock itself eventually.
The only solution is the person who owned the phone have to remove the phone from the Mi Cloud service.
I hope at least we will get MIUI 11 and the update will not lock our device again.
If you want to know more about this, I have created a thread on Mi Community forum, so you can check there, one guy tried to help me about this problem, but no success

Hello!
I am also getting help to solve the problem. But, it has been 25 days that after sending some photos of the device screens nothing happened regarding the unlock. That is, it remains blocked. I tried help from S-Unlock but showed no interest in solving the problem. I need to find another company or someone to unlock the device next to the server. Feel free to help me if you want.
Hey guys,
there is a pocophone f1 that I want to buy with the original packaging and box, but the mi account is locked after the seller hard restarted the phone. He doesn't remember having a mi account and can't unlock it. When you turn the phone it shows mi account lock.
Should I still buy it and try to unlock it by myself? Maybe if it is possible to just install a custom rom and use it with a custom rom?
Thank you in advance
No. The phone is completely locked if the bootloader isn't unlocked. You have nothing to do. Don't buy it.

Thank you for the reply. I won't be buying it. It has warranty hope the seller can fix it
As far as I know there is literally no way to unlock a MI locked phone other than remembering the password.
You'll be in luck only if you have the bootloader already unlocked. Then you can flash custom recovery and custom ROM.
kinda had the same situation with mine, only seller did say bootloadere was unlocked and phone had custom rom. I asked him to install MIUI, phone came in asking for MI account. Seller said he couldnt remember since he deleted his account. Have been using mine with custom roms only without issues, cant use MIUI though.
Get it to an mi care center. They'll use some sort of "key" account and unlock it for you. It'll be like a new phone again (unlocked). But you have to carry valid bill box and other stuff.
I'll be diving into a new phone (pocophone f1) hopefully and the reseller told me that he has lost his mi account and thus giving it to me for a lower value.
I'll be all over it as long as I'll know that:
Mi account whatsoever doesn't affect my phone
I can flash a custom rom and still use it like normal without the mi account
May I ask what is this mi account for? Thank you for the reply!
It is mainly for finding and killing of lost device and of course theming it as well.....
you need to have older account in order to release miui for you to unlock bootloader. if he has lost his account then miui will send SMS on her sim to verify his identity and then he must log out for you to login in to YOUR miui Account to UNLOCK bootloader and flash custom roms
if the device is already unlocked then
yes you can flash any roms but the moment you will flash miui (using twrp) it will ask OLD user's account's password!
you may try flashing miui later via miflasher (fastboot rom)
it may wipe all the details of previous account (i am not sure)
however EDL flashing always wipes everything! (only xiaomi dealers/ authroized technician centre can perform edl flashing as it involves opening back panel and having authorised account from miui china)

Hello Everyone,
I bough this Redmi Note 10 with screen broken, so I replaced the screen for an OLED new one, I wiped out the data and now I`m getting this Mi Account Lock screen.
The guy who sold the phone to me has deleted this account a long time ago, so I don`t have more access to this. I tried out a lot of methods to bypass and/or remove this lock screen but none of them worked.
So I`m thinking the best solution for this is to Unlock the bootloader and flash a Custom ROM like Pixel Experience for example.
What do you think about it ? Is it possible to unlock it using EDL mode or something like that ?
I think the best course of action for you will be to unlock the bootloader
Ok, So I'm gonna try it. Do you have any idea of how to do it within the EDL mode in this phone ?
Cause I've tried to search for it, and I found it, but only for other xiaomi phones.
There is only one way to unlock bootlader for all Xiaomi phones and it requires MI Unlock software (there is an unofficial alternative for Linux but it requires a bit more of work).
As far as I know to unlock bootloader the phone needs to be previuosly associated to your Mi account, so I'm not sure how you are going to do that.

I'm a Linux user so I think I can go ahead with this tool. What tool is this ?
It's just an unofficial version that runs on Linux, you still need the phone to be associated to a Mi account.
This is the one I used

That protection is there for a reason, even if you claim you're the legit owner.
No, you can't unlock if you can't boot to the system.
Best and legit way is to reset the password first in the Mi Account from i.mi.com, use any email/phone number that was used to register the account. Then remove the device from that account. Connect the device to wifi and use the new password to unlock the phone.
I don't think even local Xiaomi service center would agree to reset the phone unless you bring the legit invoice from the first purchase.
I agree with x3r0.13urn. Just in other words: If the previous owner doesn't give you access to unlock the bootloader, you can only use the phone for spare parts (Mi bill or proof of purchase with IMEI marked).

If what the guy said is true, should not the phone be automatically removed from that account?
I don't really know since I never tried.
I don't think so. Deleting the entire account is not that easy, if he has a registered device, it's not even possible.
He does not remember his login details or is no longer willing to do anything about it.
Hi,
Here is a great way to do it. Worked very well for me!

hello it is possible that i can install custom recovery even the phone is device/mi account locked? its already unlocked bootloader. (the pocof1 phone is from my mother and she does not remember the mi account details.)
I think it's possible to login to a different Mi account.
