Hey all, i wanted to ask if anyone is having the same problem as me.
So i bought a new Galaxy s9+ (G9650) and im experiencing some issues when slowly dragging my finger across the screen. It happens both in portrait mode and landscape. If i were to say... scroll across an image veeeery slowly or Play a game that requires fine accuracy (PUBG Mobile, its how i found the problem), the screen would start to jump around very slightly and repeatedly. If anyone has this problem or knows how to solve it please let me know. Thanks!
I will upload a video of the issue so you can see what i mean

Nope - Not an issue with my S9+
Did you make any changes in Developer Options for GPU Rendering etc?
Does this happen in all apps or just this game?

No, no changes in anything. I did not even have developer options enabled. i did read about it and tried them but no success. I have been using the OEM charger and cable and never used anything else to charge it. it also happens when in google chrome, maps, Quora, etc. The problem seems to get aggravated when i charge the phone. I'm losing my mind T.T such a beautiful phone with this problem. My latest whack at the problem is going to be a cache partition wipe. If that doesn't work im going all out and flashing a De-bloated firmware (Goodbye Knox and Samsung pay)

Sadly no luck, cache partition wiped but no problem is fixed. I am currently downloading 2 stock firmwares (i hope theyre de bloated) from dominican republic, one Orange and one from Claro. I would just go to samsung for their warranty but i do not have the original reciept because i did not buy the phone.
If i flash my own firmware (No root, downloaded from sammobile) will it void my warranty?

Rather than doing what you're talking about - Why not just Factory Reset? Backup everything you need or want using Smart Switch or move to your external sd card / computer.
To answer this question - Flashing the Stock Samsung Firmware with Odin will not void your warranty ?

I did factory reset. Installed all apps new and still got the problem. I paid 640USD for the device and now i have this crap, Its the latin american version (G9650).
Im currently downloading the Firmware as i said, i read somewhere about Product code changing while installing a firmware, would that be a sign to the warranters that someone messed with the device and would refuse to service my device? also, i read about Brazilian Firmware being closest to BTU (Bloatware free Android) but sammobile's link is not working ? Do you know someone with expertise in this area that could help?

Don't know if your device has an unlocked bootloader - If it doesn't - Then you can't really Flash anything that could void your warranty - Even if you don't change the CSC that shouldn't do anything to your warranty - it's Stock Samsung Firmware - Doesn't seem like you're too familiar with what you are trying to do - You might want to do some more reading & research ??

I know a thing or 2 (Just gotta catch up on some terms) ? Had an Honor 5 with Cyanogen and an S4 rooted and running AOSP. im just rying to be veeeeeeery cautious since i worked very hard for this phone and i dont wanna brick it or loose warranty. I really apreciate your input on this topic. I spoke with the previous phone owner to see if i could get a purchase reciept and bring it in for warranty repair, untill then i wont touch the phone. if all else fails, then im flashing De-bloated firmware and crying my phone to repair every time i use it ????. I have the worst of lucks ?
Is there a forum for newbies that explain all these terms? it would be nice for all them people trying to get the most out of their phones but arent very tech savvy.

Hi all i have returned to the android scene from IOS trying to work out a means of downloadong the factory/carrier Firmwares i remember from when i had a i9000
It was possible to force kies to download the releasle from Samsung with the spoofer tool despite googling for two days straight and trwaling thru the forums i have not been.able to find a means or even of a download of the. firmware im wondering about
Galaxy S 2 running 2.3.3 gingerbread
PDA: I9100TDOKH1
PHONE: I9100TDOKG2
CSC: I9100TTNZKH1
Im presently dubious about attempting to attain root on this device if i cannot get kies to flash it back to stock rom or even.maintain a copy of this rom
any heads up or advice where to move forwards.
Im hoping the carrier soon releases the 2.3.4 update shortly... failing that i will just debrand with another 9100T rom
cheers any advice for the next move would be great!
I would suggest asking Intratech for it in his carrier-branded firmware thread in the development section. The Voda firmware is listed, so TCNZ's shouldn't be too hard for the man to track down.

Keep trying on fus.nanzen.se. Finally it will hopefully give a response. I have added it to the preset list even though it's not giving a response atm.
I'd be quite interested in a dump of your stock Telecom /system/csc/ folder if that'd be possible?

Wow on further inspection... thats what i call a Awesome/Innovative Tool!
Nice work man!
I think it may come available soon
I think Telecom only released their branded handsets in the last 6 days.. so perhaps the Firmware will come available soon..
Failing that maybe the 2.3.4 update will be what comes available (if ever)
Perhaps a debrand is inorder...
It sounds like Telecom have fairly heavily modified the firmware which is going to make future updates very slow. By comparison Vodafone left it almost completely stock-standard.

Yes you should flash a stock ROM or AOSP ROM. Flashing doesn't void warranties these days. You can reset your download count using what's called a USB jig aka resistor, So when you break it you can just reflash a stock rom reset the download count an Samsung will never know any better.

Any 2.3.4 Stock/AOSP Roms you reccomend for the I9100T
I was going to root first so I could suck all the CSC , efs etc etc out of the phone
and then go for DarkyRom2 but not sure
With regards to wiping the counter i thought there was a second counter that cant be wiped yet!

Yup, thanks very much. I'll trawl through that and see if anything is worth shoe-horning into my Vodafone-derived SGS2.
Was there a TNZ sub-folder inside the CSC folder?
Edit: This section suggests fairly conclusively that XT does NOT support Fast Dormancy (figured as much so no surprise).

Here's an email I received after asking Telecom if they supported it in July (originally posted on Geekzone):
Thank you for your email query and we apologise for the late response, as this needed to come from our network team. Please find their response below:
"No we currently do not have NCFD feature enabled. Because only the handset benefits from Fast Dormancy for battery life purposes. In fast dormancy the handset notifies the network to release the air interface so it’s put into IDLE state much quicker than going through to Cell-FACH and finally to Idle. This can cause much more signaling on the network between the RNC, NodeB and mobile device which (increase in signaling load) can lead to congestion.
We have a number of features on the network that can work with Fast Dormancy and not cause a large increase in signaling load, however there is no current ETA for deployment."
Should you require any further assistance please email or call 0800550120 or *120, we would be happy to assist.
Regards
Harvey

I've been running darkyrom2 with no issues at all, and I'm undervolted. Have you tried that yet? I've never lost data on any non-wipe flash, but also use titanium back up, so am safe if I do.
Is there a link for the stock firmware now? Which modem does it use?

I've used many different modems (probably all of them to be honest), but am quite happy with the KI3 one at the moment. It's giving me no issues as far as XT's network goes, but I don't travel a lot so am not really a good judge. It does give me more range with Wifi though, something I have had issues with on other modems.
No idea on stock firmware. Has Intratech posted a link? He finds most of them.

Why thank you good sir
I just would like to know how many different editions are there for the 7510 because as far as I know, a change in bootloader shouldn't affect the use/flash of CWM. This isn't Apple.

I thought all models of the 7510 were WiFi only. Thus the difference between 7500 (Wifi + Mobile carrier) and 7510 (WiFi + No Mobile carrier)
I could be completely wrong in my thinking. So please tell me if I am. Also if I'm wrong could you point me where I can see a 7510 with a mobile carrier? Please don't say Google, I don't care enough to go searching for something I don't think exists. I guess I would search if you give me what keywords are going to yield results.

Sorry but I'm lost.
You lost me at "should I use the same command prompt"
Then again at "Fastboot flash OEM unlock"
My only advice that could be relevant is to goto the sticky in development section and follow or at least read s0ckm0nkeys guide to rooting and see if you can get where you want using or reading it.
Like I said, I'm lost so my suggestion is only a guess about what might already be posted about doing what you want/need.
Hopefully this will help, but keep us updated.
Edit: just realized I haven't re-read the whole thread so I will and if I notice anything that gets gets me UN-lost, I'll come back and post more.
Edit2: so this page is the whole post LOL so yes I'm still lost and the above suggestion of checking the sticky guide is all I can offer.

Well this is my 2 cent's WiFi or not some models come carrier locked, Verzion probably sells the WiFi and 3G model's but I'm in the dark on their product sales, They probably lock it for certain reasons, I don't really know the details.
I have a 3G 64GB 7500 and yeah it came with a locked bootloader, but as far as I know flashing a CWM should take care of that problem. Because after flashing CWM I didn't see the locked logo anymore.

Guess it's possible. Carriers do some strange things. Why they would even offer a wifi only version, besides profit from the initial sale, is beyond me. Still being wifi only, I can't see how it could be "tied" to any carrier. Even if sold by one. I mean it's wifi only, how could they "tie" it to themselves besides labeling it Verizon or whatever? I guess if you're contracted to their wifi access it could be tied to their wifi access points. Like I said they do some pretty strange things. But still it would be easily "un-tied".
From everything I have ever read or seen the 7510 is wifi only not carrier related at all and I've never read or seen a 7100 that's not sold by or "tied" to a carrier of some type. Therefore my thinking of the 7500 & 7510 difference.
Don't they both basically come with a "locked" bootloader anyway and flashing cwm unlocks them? Never seeing or hearing of the lock logo on a 7510 though.
Maybe this is where I get lost again with different terms used actually meaning the same thing or something other than what I think it means. Such as, I think wifi only means just that, wifi only, and that is what makes it a 7510 and not a 7500. If that's not the difference I wish someone would tell or show me so I could quit showing my ignorance.
I was being sincere and not trying to sound rude asking for someone to point me to somewhere that actually corrects my thinking if I'm wrong here. Because I've never seen it and am too lazy and/or stuck in my thinking to "try" to prove myself wrong.
Once again, its way past my bedtime, I'm laying here in bed trying to figure out what in actually trying to say. Probaly talking out my arse again.

As far as I know AT&T has the same with the new Sony NGP or Vita as they all it , probably because the carrier has some unlimited monthly data plan or something that can be shared of as a personal hotspot, I don't know really, one of the many marketing strategies. Could sell the Wifi version cheaper with some sort of portable internet router on a plan. The company SMART here does that, they sell you this tiny little pocket router with a 3G sim in it and there was an offer for the iPad non WiFI included.
And it's all good mate It's still very informative stuff, I haven't touched or kissed US soil in order to know what goes on with their carrier plans, I admire the fact you being updated, for someone in his prime >:]
And yeah, I think/assume it does unlock it because my tablet no longer shows the locked logo when booting it to fastboot

Hi all,
I read a lot of stuff about locked bootloader and scary stories of bricked tab.
I saw the great videos from qbking about rooting and flash about odin (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1462961)
but it never mentionned locked bootloader.
I bought a retail 10.1 tab without any carrier stuff but I assume that my BL is also locked.
Is it safe to follow the root and flash process without unlocking its BL ?

I flashed an entire new version of Android (3.2) with Odin and found no problems. Another thing, I have my Tab since November and only last week unlock it from carrier... just for fun!
Thanks viarizi !
Did you unlock your tab before flashing your 3.2 image ?
Regards.
Actualy I unlocked it from carrier 3 weeks after flashing new droid version.
First I unrooted it, then flashed new droid version with Odin, finaly unlock it from carrier using a regular Samsung phone unlocker software (unfortunely I dont know which one just that it had roms for almost all Samsung phones).
Can someone please explain if the bootloader is locked or not (if you don't see the unlocked padlock)? I don't get how we can manipulate the kernel if they're locked... Are they (kernels) getting replaced, or is something else happening to them when I flash a ROM (ie. pershoot's CM9)? Also, is there a method to unlock the GT-P7510 bootloader if it is locked? Would fastboot work?
Sorry for confusing you, I've just read so many different things about the bootloader I'm lost now!

Hey guys,
I have a little Problem: UNDER the display of my Galaxy S+ appeared some white stains.
Now I want send it to Samsung that they repair the harm because how could something like this happen?
The problem could be that I had Root on the smartphone. I installed a new firmware on it (value pack) and reseted the system; Root does not exist on my phone anymore (the app was removed).
If I send it to Samsung, could Samsung proves that the smartphone was rooted? Is there a protocol inside the system?
And if yes, how can I delete it?
I added a photo to this post where you can see the harm (they are black in the middle of the phone - in reality they are white)

Notice, I said they couldn't tell if you were rooted, not if you ever flashed anything .
I dont know if samsung would mind a flash count... Since the bootloader is unlocked on many samsung phones, a simple key combo will result in "download mode" where you can flash any ROM.

The flash counter counts "unofficial flashes". So yes, they would mind. If they even find just 1 count, they will classify your warranty as voided.

Ah, that would make sense
4 months ago i've rooted my Galaxy S3 international (I-9300). Before rooting i took a nandroid backup of the Samsung's ICS. Then i flashed CM10 and recently (1 month ago) i flashed CM10.1. Everything was working OK (except some issues that come with the CM10-10.1). I also came against the SOD (Screen of Death) but as the devs warned us i was OK with that. From time to time i flashed a newer version of the CM10.1 nightly (recent one was 4th of Jan 2013).
Today as i was sitting in my office i picked up my device and pressed the power button just to check the time. The device did not respond and i presumed that it was another case of SOD. So i removed my battery and put it back inside as i always did when a SOD occured. I long-pressed the power button but nothing happened. I went to the nearest Samsung supplier and i bought a brand new Samsung battery to replace the old one but the device never powered up. Now i am stack with a device that cannot power up. I cannot get into download mode as well.
Is it a case of a bricked device? If it is, is there anything i can do to bring it back to life?
Thanks in advance!
In this case you cannot do much....take it to center and require motherboard replacement, if its case of brickbug it will he warranty covered....right now im interested if you flashed XXELLA or newer bootloader or did you flash kernel compiled from 7th source from samsung?

4 months ago i've rooted my Galaxy S3 international (I-9300). Before rooting i took a nandroid backup of the Samsung's ICS. Then i flashed CM10 and recently (1 month ago) i flashed CM10.1. Everything was working OK (except some issues that come with the CM10-10.1). I also came against the SOD (Screen of Death) but as the devs warned us i was OK with that. From time to time i flashed a newer version of the CM10.1 nightly (recent one was 4th of Jan 2013).

Sudden death, all you can do is get a motherboard replacement at a service center, however they may never know you flashed CM10.1 because the NAND is dead.

Thanks for the quick reply but i am not sure i can help you with the bootloader! I am not an advanced user. I just used Odin v3.04 to flash CF-Root-SGS3-v6.4. When i finally rooted my device i downloaded the CM10 and afterwards the CM10.1 rom and flashed it along with the GAPPS. And then i used a program to match the modem with the RIL (XXDLID). Ofcourse i fixed permissions.
One thing i need to know? Does the phone stays in the warranty if you root it?

You mean that i shouldnt say anything about root and CM10.1 right?
Also, is there a way for the technicians to find out that i've rooted the device and flashed CM10.1? I mean on a device that it cant even power on!
ps: i live in Cyprus (small island in the meditteranean sea) , so there isnt any advanced service center to examine my motherboard (at least i hope so).

Don't mention it, don't say anything about firmware, if they ask play dumb and just say the latest version, it's up to them to prove your warranty is void, also is Cyprus in the EU? If so check this out http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2092530&highlight=eu
In short for your warranty to be voided by flashing Samsung has to prove that it was CM10.1 that caused the problem.
I don't think this will be needed though because your NAND is completely dead so it will be extremely hard if possible for them to prove you flashed anything.

Yes Cyprus belongs to EU.
I will not mention a thing about firmware and CM hoping they dont find it out.
In the meantime, if they replace the motherboard, i will be running Android with Touchwiz by default?

Yes you will be on touchwiz, but you can always change that
I have no idea which version though, it depends what they flash at the factory.

Samsung should worry about their skin, because i am a user that rooted his device to flash a custom ROM, then the device is not booting by any means and i am thinking to root it again after the motherboard is replaced!!
By the way, the problem on the motherboard is caused 100% because i root the device??
Thanks so much for your answers!

No it is not caused by rooting your device. Your case is a typical Sudden Death Syndrome one. For more info go here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2091045
You said that the last CM 10.1 you installed was from 04.01.13? Well in that case the Samsung Update7 source wasn`t applied yet to CM10.1 Kernel, so the Kernel was not secure.

I didnt find the time to read the thread you post (i am reading it later on). So the not secure Kernel could cause this?

Yes there is a problem with a specific type of eMMC chips in the SIII. There is plenty of evidence now that Samsung fixed this issue with the Update7 Source release and most S3 Kernels have this fix by now. You can read it in detail by clicking the link I posted a couple of posts ago.
I hope that they will repair your device without any problems but they should and if you couldn`t even access download mode it`s pretty much impossible to find out that you had Root or a custom ROM installed.

Some people are saying that the kernel fixes it some are saying they havent, but the service center should fix it because its a known problem.
Also the latest kernel has only been rolled out in UK and Spain. If there has not been a stock update available in your country there is really nothing they can do.

I don`t know of any case where someone had an SD while having a fixed Kernel installed. But you are right that nobody knows 100% if the fix really works.
Thank you all for your responses!! I am taking my GS3 to the place that i bought it for repairing first thing tomorrow!
I will let you know of the outcome!
Again, thanks a lot!!

Good luck
Hey guys,
I have a similar problem except that my screen turns on and shows the Galaxy S3 logo when I try to power it on but it won't go further (shows logo until I pull the battery). It doesn't boot into recovery either but I can start download mode.
The phone just turned off while I was listening to music. I think I was running Omega v27.
So my question is: Should I try flash a stock ROM since I can boot into download mode? And is this even "sudden death"?
Thanks in advance!
Half of sudden death. You should also get the phone to samsung

I would take that to samsung, toy could try flashing stock but if it wasn't a failure flashing something I'm not sure it would work.
I would imagine it will fail before it tries to flash.

Tried to flash the + RESCUE FIRMWARE SGSIII I9300 + but it doesn't work. It can't flash the .pit-file and it doesn't work without either.
So I really have to return it but:
since the phone boots into download mode they will see that I used a custom firmware. Any chance to change this?
Hi everyone. I tried updating to the latest firmware, version 14.1.B.2.257, but it doesnt work. I go into my phone to check which version I am on, and it reads: 14.1.B.1.532. I went into the phone to try to do it the normal way: Settings. About Phone. etc. And I even tried doing it manually through the computer, but my computer says im already on the latest version, which im not. I called Sony, and the reps were complete idiots. At least the 2 reps I spoke to. Im on AT&T, and my model Num. is the C6833. The reps said it may be due to AT&T, but that sounds like BS to me. Anyone else having the same issue or perhaps has a remedy for this issue, that doesnt require root?
carrier supplied firmwares may take longer to reach you sometimes
not everyone has had their notifications on 257 yet, so just be patient a little longer
It's a staged rollout, so not everyone will get it at the same time. If you're not that patient, you can download the TFT from the dev section and manually flash it. It won't void anything and you don't need to unlock or root anything.

So this is something my carrier is supplying to me, even though my phone is unlocked?

I was doing some research and I cant find a flash tool that supports my device. Have you done this to you phone and know for a fact it doesnt void the warranty?

Here's TFTs, and here's the flashtool. Even Sony has a flashtool that you can download here, but use the first one. I have not used flashtool yet since it hasn't been necessary yet, but you're not voiding anything when you flash an unmodified stock ROM, and like i already mentioned, even Sony has a flashtool that does the same thing. You're flashing an official piece of software.
Custom ROMs like CM, ParanoidAndroid etc. are different stories though since you have to root and unlock the bootloader.
