Navigation Gestures Troubleshoot - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello!
I just installed the Navigation Gestures App, which I hope to get up and running on my phone with the stock navigation bar disabled. I have gone through the tutorials and used adb to give the permission for the app to do this:
adb shell pm grant com.xda.nobar android.permission.WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS
Click to collapse
It seems to have worked but brought up another issue. When I enable the first option, the pill appears, but the stock navigation bar can be swiped up. However when I turn on the second option, the navigation bar is unable to be swiped up, but the Navigation Gestures Pill disappears as well. I believe that I have done everything right while enabling the permission with my PC, since it does not give me a prompt to grant the permission when I turn it on. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

[Q] Please help. Systemui crash

So I tried to install the custom Nav bar app and I used it to change this...
adb shell pm grant xyz.paphonb.systemuituner android.permission.WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS
But my phone wasnt compatible. Now I keep getting a systemui crash when I turn the phone landscape. Also, after reboot, my nav buttons switch back to the standard configuration.
What do I need to do to fix this?
same here...
I managed to fix the problem by going into Settings -> Display -> Navigation bar and just change the Button layout. You can change it back to whatever you want, later on, but just change it once so that navigation bar setting reset.

Htuawei Mate 10 Pro - Full Scereen doesn't work

Hello, I have a problem with my BLA-L29 (BLA-L29 8.0.0127 (C432). After startig an app I press the button with the blue text about displaing in full screen mode, then another screen appears wit information about restarting the app anf when I press "ok" nothing happens. The navigation bar at the bottom of the screen is still visible and I can't turn it off. Please help.
Hi ya. You need to set your navigation bar to hide. It will give you an arrow on the left you can press to hide the navigation bar, it will be in full screen but it doesn't hide the navigation bar unless you tell it too. It's under setting, smart assistance, system navigation.

Thank You I've thought that in the full screen mode the navigation bar shoul dissapeat "by itself" without pressing any keys
I'd prefer it, if the bar disappeared of its own accord until you needed and you could pull it up. But you need to use the settings I've shown and the use the triangle shape at the edge. You never know it may change in the future. :good:

XDA Navigation Gestures App

Hi, has anyone tried a new application by XDA? What are your thoughts?

my navigation bar does not hide...
I'm trying it right now. And it's not too bad. Only complaint is you can't change the transparency so that small bar will always be there. But you can change the size and make it really small so it won't be that noticeable.
So far, it seems like a good alternative to All in One Gestures. Will update on battery life later.

Did it hide your navigation bar ?
It won't hide my navigation bar .
Works pretty well
It works pretty well for the most part, though on apps where they are black you can see a white line on the very bottom of the screen. Which is kinda annoying.

If you want hide the stock navigation bar, I find a workaround using immersive mode. You can enable it in nogaut too using an app called "SystemUI Tuner" and giving to it adb permission through a pc (so without root).
I don't like too much this gesture so i return to stock, but if you want this work.

Don't know why but it doesn't ask for root permission (needed in order to hide the navbar), so you need the adb commands, for the rest it works pretty well.

For hide the navbar you can switch the app proportion for the 18: 9 and set the permissions again. After this, turn off the gestures and turn on. If this not work, restart the phone. For me it works.

Can't find the scale option under lg g6 with 8.0.
There are some apps there but no navigation gestures.
I think with Android 7 I had the option. Now I can't find it any more. Can someone assist?
Or is it obsolete with Android 8 ?

I love this app.
My battery autonomy is superb and also have more space on the screen.
But the navigation bar doesn't hide automatically, I used SystemUI Tuner from the playstore to hide it.

Hello, when i'm trying to grant permission i only get :"Operation not allowed: java.lang.SecurityException: grantRuntimePermission: Neither user 2000 nor current process has android.permission.GRANT_RUNTIME_PERMISSIONS." what can i do pls ?
I have the porblem that if I open an app lets say, Instagram or Armorfly Browser, the white line at the bottom just dissapears. Then I was swiping up from the bottom to try and get it back or at least the nav bar, after a few tries, the nav bar and the white line for the gestures were showing and dissapearing all the time, it was like they were having a fight for who will stay at the bottom of my screen haha
Does anybody know a fix for that?
Thanks
I'mf facing the following problem, the app is constantly loosing it's rights

Fluid Navigation Gestures won't disable!

I recently installed Fluid Navigation Gestures. I loved it till I noticed that the default navigation bar is displayed in certain instances i.e. while in system settings, using keyboard etc. I tried to disable it from the app itself but nothing changes. I also tried to disable the Hide Navigation Bar option. No luck. I noticed that once I disabled the default navigation doesn't return and the gestures stop working. I haven't tried uninstalling the app not until I have re-enabled the default navigation bar (there's also a warning in the app that's along these lines).
If there's a way I can manually change the setting that hides the navigation bar. I could bring it back and then completely uninstall the app. I read somewhere that there's a magisk module that hides the navigation bar. Sadly, I cannot find that from the magisk repo.
I have an H930DS running 20p Oreo and Nova Launcher. TWRP and root. If this helps.

I found a way to disable it safely. I used the Quick tiles shortcut for FNG to pause/disable it. In the app itself I disabled the hide navigation bar option then uninstalled it after clear its data and cache. You should also revoke the permissions (draw over apps). That's it!

try to to disable fng via accessibility setting. did you grant permission via adb or root?
You can restore the navigation keys by running this adb command:
Windows:
adb shell wm overscan 0,0,0,0
macOS:
./adb shell wm overscan 0,0,0,0
Thereafter uninstall the app normally.
Your also advised to disable the app before you Force stop, Clear app data or Uninstall the app.
You want to hide the nav bar in all and all? Turn off all pauses under black list (in ng fluid app) and you would have no nav bar displayed anywhere.
Don't forget to modify triggers to how you want first
I love this app, this is a great gesture app I've ever used. But one problem I found I not able to restore auto-hidden nav bar in my Asus Max Pro M1 even I disable "Hide Navigation bar" option from App. I also tried it by disable app/clear app data/uninstalling app. But still I'm not able to get my auto-hidden nav bar again. Always it automatically auto hide, I have to swip up from bottom to bring it and after few seconds it automatically hide from screen.
I also tried following command.
Windows:
adb shell wm overscan 0,0,0,0.
Please help
How to disable fluid navigation gesture
You have to install ADB setup on pc or laptop and then open ADB.
On phone download navigation gesture provided by xda and follow all grant permissions app requires.
Then you have to open developer options of your phone.
Enable usb debugging.
Connect your phone to pc.
And write this command.
Adb devices( your phone will be shown on command after you type this command)
Then write one more command.
(adb shell pm grant com.xda.nobar android.permission.WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS)
After all this process open navigation gesture and disable the option showing " hide navigation ".
All done and free yourself.

No Real Full Screen?

Hi there,
It seems Mi A3 has no real full screen mode except playing video.
I tried "adb shell settings put global policy_control immersive.status=*" or "~.full=*", there'd be a black bar on top as the same area of the status bar. When using 'full screen mode' in some browsers, it behaves the same.
Is there any method to utilize this area other than status bar and video?
Thanks.
The notch area usage depends probably on the app. For example F-stop doesn't use notch area even in full screen, Google photos yes.

Thanks, but i wish there'd be a system-wide solution. I used to use adb immersive control on my previous Nokia phone and it worked well everywhere. That's without notch, though.

Immersive mode still works and you can control it system-wide or per app, but drawing over notch area must be defined by an app developers. Otherwise you'll see the black bar as you described.
Hi,
I found the immersive mode disappeared by itself recently -- the status bar came back.
I tried giving it adb command again and it looked fine at that moment. Then the status bar came right back after locking/unlocking the screen.
What's going on? Is there any other adb command affecting this?
Thanks.
If you have magisk there is a module but it isn't in the official repository.

Thanks, but I don't want to root my phone just yet.
BTW, I've used this command to grant permission to Fluid Navigation Gesture:
adb shell pm grant com.fb.fluid android.permission.WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS
Would it interact with the immersive mode by that app?
I've used both FNG and immersive mode in another phone and it's OK with both of them, but it's in Android 9.
