Before the latest software update I seemed to have no problem interacting with this tablet with 3 fingers. Now using the multitouch tester, I can only keep 2 on the screen at a time and the 3rd finger will make both the fingers spazz out. This becomes noticable in games and such. How many fingers is this tablet supposed to take? Does anyone else have this issue?

I thought it was only me upgrading P920 from GB to ICS and JB and got touch problems, but a quick google with "ics touch screen issues" reveals a lot. This problem seems well-spread across devices, ROMs, kernels,...
Basically the main problem is that it's harder to get the phone to register/recognize a touch/swipe. I sometimes have to touch/swipe multiple times for the action to happen. Sensitivity doesn't seem like a problem here, because a very light/soft touch can still be recognized. It's just that the screen often doesn't recognize the touch. Turning on pointer location in development options is the best proof. Try tapping the same spot on the screen lightly (as normal use) and some times it will register the touch, sometimes not. At first it seems like no problem but gradually becomes very itchy for everyday use. It's like using a defective product. But it is definitely NOT a hardware issue, because every time I revert back to good old GB (any version, any kernel) the touch screen just comes back alive. Every slightest touch and swipe registers beautifully, never misses.
So if your device does not suffer from this problem, lucky you. Us who are suffering from this, would like to have some cues on how to solve it.
NOTE: SGS touchscreen booster DOES NOT solve this issue. It's a great tool, though, to increase the touch sensitivity. But as this is not about sensitivity, it's useless for me.
So anyone have a solution? Thanks in advance!!!
Hi all,
I just picked up the SGP311 today and I've noticed if I'm holding it in one hand from the side (landscape) I'll occasionally get lots of phantom screen touch events, almost like its bending under it's own weight and registering random touches. It doesn't seem to happen if I'm holding the tablet in two hands or resting it on my chest or lap, only if im holding it from the side in one hand
Has anyone else experienced this? I'll probably take it back tomorrow as faulty and take a replacement but im just wondering if this is a common problem with this tablet?
Ta!

The model number is SGP311A1/B, after I first turned it on it completed the latest android update from Sony.
I'm pretty sure it's a faulty hardware issue, I can reproduce it quite reliably now. I was only really concerned if it was a common problem that might occur again in a replacement Other than that I love my new toy, I've been using the Asus TF101 for the last two years and it's been getting a little sluggish, the Sony is beautifully smooth in comparison

I came to this forum for an unrelated reason, but ran across this thread and I'd like to add my own experience with the OP's "phantom" inputs.
I tend to use the tablet on landscape with my left hand holding the tablet. My thumb is well within the black border but it seems the screen senses my thumb sometimes. At times I'm unable to scroll or drag properly (ie an opposing input is stopping the action) and if I move my thumb closer to the edge of the tablet, the problem seems to go away. I haven't bothered recreating the problem, it just occurs once in awhile and it hasn't gotten to the point of annoyance. I've only been using the tablet for about a week
I have the SGP311 and running stock 4.1.2
I have this problem in some 4.4 custom roms. And weird thing is that it sometimes registers touches even when tablet is on table and screen is of... So, is my tablet breaking down or is there anything else I can do?
Try to search for flex/flexing in this Forum.
It is a problem with the torsion, because of the flat design.
I had this exact problem after I unpacked my device, and was also worried abut this being a HW issue. I then upgraded to 4.3 (10.4.B.0.577) and haven't seen this issue since. I hope that means it's gone, but I've only been using this device for less than 2 days so it's too early to tell.
Hi! My first post here
Just got my P9000 yesterday, and while playing with it I noticed that the touch response is pretty laggy. I can see that when my finger is dragging down the text follows with a slight delay. I'm comparing it with my previous phone (Sony Z3 Compact) and it was much more responsive there.
A test that I'm doing is by using the app Multitouch Tester, and when moving the finger around the screen quite slowly I can clearly see the circle lagging always behind.
I also tried flashing a different ROM to see if it makes any difference (tried Eragon 4.0), but with the same results.
Does this happen also to you? Any idea what can be done to improve this?
Thanks!
Yuvi
Yup, there is definitely a lot more delay compared to my Nexus 5.
Thanks for confirming I'm not the only one...is there any solution to this?
Touch screen repair on play store did the fix for me. Try it if you want, I had I good outcome on my phone in stock rom
Hello, i have an Alcatel One Touch Pixi 3.5 and i am having a problem regarding the touchscreen.
I noticed that whenever i tried to play a platformer game my character would suddenly stop moving while jumping, or just not jump high enough. and there also times where the controls would just lock up for few seconds before it would let me move again.
it was getting really annoying so i decided to use a multitouch testing app. those were the results:
I saw that it only detected 2 touch points and when i had two fingers on the screen far apart, it saw both fingers as separate touch points. but when they were close to eachother it would count as one single touch point in the middle.
