Hi,
I want to buy a phone and I am little confused with the two phones. One Plus 3 and Moto Z Play
One Plus 3 - OS updates? Aren't great with updates?
One Plus 3 - Battery life? Not that great?
One Plus 3 - Warranty Issues in India?
One Plus 3 - All the rest good config. etc for the price.
Moto Z Play - OS updates? Stock OS so I should get it quickly.
Moto Z play - Good Battery life
Moto Z Play - No issues with Warranty etc.
Moto Z Play - SD 625 processor with 3GB RAM.
Question is what should I buy? if I get faster updates on One Plus 3 I will just go for it?
Can anyone help me with this little confused on what to buy?
Thanks!

I think you go for one plus 3. It have great features.
If you concerned about the one plus 3 above point then go for Moto z play.
Os updates -
If you stick to stock os updates and faster os updates then go for Moto z play.
If you want custom roms support then one plus devices have good support than Moto.
Battery Life -
There is no much difference in battery life in these two devices. One plus 3 support quick charge that can charge your android faster than Moto.
Warranty-
I don't know. It may have warranty issues in one plus one devices.
Motorola not having any issue in warranty.
If you want good configuration then one plus 3 is great choice.

Lol are you kidding! Moto z play has the best battery around by a margin period. If OnePlus 3 is around 4 to 5 hours sot then
10 to 12 hours is z play.
It's basically your usage and priority. If battery usage is your priority and you are a mediocre user with no super heavy games then z play is better.
Else OnePlus 3 hands down if you are a heavy user and best specs to value ratio.
Update is tricky. Moto will surely ensure you get Android n and o. Decent updates. OnePlus has a bad reputation with updates. Look at 1+2 or 1+x. But it's improving with 1+3. But only future will tell you how it goes. 1+3 has already got the Nougat update while z play should this month.
Anyways both phones are very good you won't go wrong with either.
There's a thread for device suggestions:

I have the Xperia XA so am still awaiting on Nougat, but I want to know from the Xperia X users who have already gotten 7.0 does it have the Night Light setting/Night mode in the system ui tuner?

Yes, system UI tuner is thankfully not disabled by Sony, nor is the code for night mode removed so it can be enabled from there with the help of an app called Night Mode enabler which can be downloaded from the Play store.
No root required.

That is good to know, thanks. It is about time such a feature became the norm in phones, it is so useful in Windows 10 after the Creators update. :victory:

This feature still isn't a norm in Android 7.0.x.
They've removed it from the finial builds of 7.0, and the only reason why it can be enabled with just an app was because the code for night mode was still present.
iOS 9.3 had it back in mid 2016
Windows Phone 10 Creator recently got it
Android... O hopefully.....

I thought they made it official in 7.1 Nougat? At least on Pixel devices? Not sure if my phone will get 7.1, we haven't even got 7.0 yet. Typical life of a mid ranger.

I think they'd have to wait for Mediatek to release with Android N kernel sources before any development can get under way.
Generally; Mediatek, and likewise Nvidia like to slack behind.
I though that the X was the mid ranger.

I honestly don't know what Sony were thinking last year, killing off the Z Series then bringing back the X Series with a over priced mid ranger which to them must of been a flagship. Then what makes it worse is that they've gotten rid of Xperia keyboard as well as some other stock Sony apps and replaced them with the Google equivalent, it just gives the impression that the ROM is half baked. I'd rather they made it all Google apps with the Sony media apps.
But it runs super smooth though. :good:

Agreed with the overpriced part. I only purchased with the X because it was on special. A medium-high mid ranger priced at below your typical mid ranger phone like the A5, 5X.
Clean light skin with some good nifty, but functional tweaks...... most other manufacturer phone.
Most of the Sony apps can actually be downloaded from the Play store, including the keyboard through it says that my device isn't compatable with it.

I side loaded the keyboard, you can download it here.
I am thinking of buying a Moto Z now, I wonder if it has the same functions as the Moto Z2 Droid and if Motorola usually improves this in updates. And do you guys think they'll have any more updates after Android Oreo?
Ok Google with the screen off works in custom roms?
There is already a thread that someone ported some of the new functionality:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-z/themes/apk-moto-display-moto-x4-t3682701
In general as far as I know Moto Z family is relatively similar, so a lot of things are being moved between devices by developers..
So stupid me decided that he wants to try an iPhone, and I bought 6S(coming from OnePlus Two). I used it for 4 days and I decided that I'm not happy with the screen size, the storage and the limited functions. So I have the opportunity to return it and get Galaxy S7 or LG G5. The problem with the S7 is the Micro USB mainly, the LG G5 fits my suits the best and I like it, but everyone is hating on the LG G5 and the Moto Z doesnt have 3.5MM. So any thoughts on my dilemma ? Thanks ^^
i like g5 on eBay or Amazon $110 gets you one and nimax Rom runs great on 830t moto z force 2 is sweet $159 down at tmobile get free projector from moto but can't hear g5 swap batteries and great cam hope that's any help
Its a decent phablet with great cameras and swappable battery which get charged in 40-50min. If you size of it not an issue for you you can get it cheaply.
S7 or Moto Z
Hi
I have a Moto Z which is still going great. I would like to be able to use Android 9 without using third-party Roms. Is it possible to flash the Moto Z2 Force or Moto Z3 Play rom on the Moto Z? The idea is to be included in the regular Motorola upgrades for those phones.
As far as I can see the specs of the Z2 Force are very similar to the Moto Z so the Rom might work.
Thanks for your input.

No.
Sadly it's not as simple as people might think, so to answer your question, no, its not possible.
That's a good question, man!
To be honest, If Moto Z can flash Z2 or Z3 ROMS, less people will buy their Z family models.
The answer: NO! You could not flash Z2 or Z3.
