how are people flashing magisk, since there's not a working TWRP for 8.1 ROMs yet (or at least not one that can mount system as r/w (at least for the H9)) unless people have come across a new TWRP I'm unaware of

Magisk can be flashed via Fastboot with only a patched RAMDISK.img.
Extract a vanilla RAMDISK.img from some source (for Huawei phones, you can use Firmware Finder and Huawei Update Extractor to get RAMDISK.img).
Place RAMDISK.img on your phone's storage
Patch for Magisk v16.6 with the Magisk Manager apk and move patched_boot.img back to your PC
Open fastboot
Execute
Code:
fastboot erase ramdisk
Execute
Code:
fastboot flash ramdisk patched_boot.img
Reboot to system
You got magisk

I tried his carbon ROM and it booted successfully on my honor 6x without magisk,try openkirin ROMs they are optimized for huawei and their carbon ROM is smoothest ROM I ever tried

Try it. There is only one problem that this one cannot decrypt Data. So Data back up is impossible and you can only flash zip in SDcard.

actually before i do this, this TWRP is definately for the honor 9? and for 8.1, since the TWRP on the H9 forums doesn't boot with an 8.1 ROM installed

ok, so this does work, but cant mount system i guess, so its useful to an extent, actually, is it possible to flash zips like su and xposed or even a kernel or system image, because if so, is it ok if i put this in its own thread with credit to you.
basically, can it:
flash zips to system?
flash system/kernel images?
wipe data/cache/dalvik?
im not sure if i want to try any of this and end up with a soft brick, so i hope you have done some more testing

All functions are functioning properly including what you have said and more,except those that need to decrypt data. So you must have a unencrypted SDcard to store zip you want to flash.

a ok, right, excellent, yep i did a bit more testing after the post and found everything but stuff on internal storage works.
is it ok if i put this in its own thread with credit to you, to make it easier to find?
