Problem lg v10 android 6 update - LG V10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys, regards.
Recently my brother gave me his lg v10 and updated it to android 6 through LgUp, it was a big mistake ... every time I turn it on it says that the vpn has stopped, it does not let me get into security settings because it stops, I get many mistakes. my question is, can you go back to android 5? ... can someone help me with the kdz of android 5 for the h900 version? ... I can not find it anywhere ... and in the meantime I have two more queries ... unlock the bootloader but my phone does not start in fastboot mode, and probe in several ways, with the keypad, by means of commands, but there is no way to start fastboot mode, know what is the problem?
and my other query is if there is any way to root in android 6 without having the bootloader unlocked?
Thank you, sorry for so many questions, :crying:

This is a basic answer but have you tried to do a full wipe and then flash again the KDZ?

Moto Cricket E only begins in fastboot and recovery

Hi friends have a question about something that happened to me.
I did something too stupid and now I regret it.
What happens is that I try to update my motorola moto
Brazil 5.1 manually, but try the first time gave me error and does not install the rom achievement, all was well up there, but then gave me the idea to install it again and installed all achievement but by giving reboot not over 5.1 logo rather return to the fastboot mode and brand me as follows:
downgraded version for boot
failed to validate boot image
fastboot reason: fall-trough from the normal boot mode
After that try to install the factory cricket rom 4.4.4 installed but fails because the bootloader is updated to the latest version and also the bootloader is locked (For more problems can not unlock the bootloader for reasons of cricket company and AT & T do not allow)
So what occurred to me was searching and searching but what I found was that I must unlock the bootloader to fix it but I can not as I'm in school and I'm lately busy I could give you head to fix it, oh and I have also seen that could try with RDS lite but I do not have a Windows machine to test (Install the firmware was for Mac to travez of the terminal) ....
Not so good if you can help me the truth is that you can not make or sell in this state and seek or find an expert who can fix me but of course not all will be free xD
If they could seriously help I would appreciate it with all my strength
Salu2 and hugs from a remote location in Venezuela
Sorry to use such bad English translator google xD
:good::highfive:

please help not able to root / not able to boot into recovery

Hi Fellow Users!
I just bought LG v10 yesterday with international warranty even though i live in UAE, the problem is i am following all the steps from "step by step guide to root for tmo" but unfortunately i am not able to boot into phone recovery which is odd for me as i am a long time user of android, is that possible my phone doesn't have one? I tried everything adb, manually but nothing worked, i once booted my phone into recovery via adb but i saw green android picture with no command written on it and fastboot didn't worked there so there is that.
1) i tried dirty_cow but stuck at getenforce "permissive didn't appeared which is must needed, i think its related to my bootloader"
2) should i follow LGUP procedure even i am not sure my bootloader is unlocked?
P.S my phone is TMO although its unlocked to use any network.
Please advise, thank you
Unfortunately flashing KDZ file bricked my phone, :crying:
Now its just off it doesn't turn on tried everything any advise?
Update: Went to LG TechServe and handed over my phone to re-flash the original firmware, bad thing they don't cover international warranties as i live in UAE and the model i have is TMO with international warranty so there's that.
Reason to share the story, may people learn from this.
Have you tried with Kingroot app or kingoroot app? These apps can root many devices.

[SOLVED] Bricked after a failed update.

Hi, good day.
My Lg V10 H962 is bricked after a fail update. I tried to flash the stock ROM with LGUP, but there no way, now, to enter to download mode.
Also, i cant use the fastboot commands to flash the image, because the bootloader is locked ( cant unlock due to usb debugging is not enabled).
Please help.
Thanks!

pls help if have any experience, thanks in advance

Optimus L9 MS769 Security Error, Please Hold My Hand

Edit: I wanted to link this to the main Optimus L9 Security Error thread but didn't know how, any mod is welcome to do that for me ^_^
Hello XDA!
I recently acquired a LG Optimus L9 MS769 from my sister to use temporarily until I can get a new phone. Before bringing it to me, she tried swapping SIM cards with my mother's to see if that would work (without doing a reset first), which caused it to boot with that infamous Security Error screen. I have tried following just about every thread that I can understand in search of a solution, however I'm sort of stuck due to my limited knowledge in the all-things-android field. Also, I am aware that this sub-forum is for the P76x models, so sorry if I'm asking for help in the wrong spot.
I started with the most obvious suggestion, which was to try using the LG Mobile Support tool with my phone in S/W mode, with hopes of gaining access to perform a hard reset (hopefully that is the correct terminology). Within the driver selection window on the LG Mobile Support tool, there are three separate drivers for the USA MetroPCS model MS769. I tried running to tool with each of them one at a time, with the same result each time. Sometimes my phone would sit in S/W mode and the tool wouldn't detect a connection, so I would try from the beginning again. When I get it right, the support tool detects my phone, but says first that it is fully up to date with version V10F, then once it fully connects the tool tells me "Only wireless upgrades are supported on this phone." I even tried again using a fresh Mobile Support Tool and drivers straight from LG's support website.
Now, there are plenty of guides out there that explain in the most basic ways imaginable for how to flash stock firmware on my device, but all of them that I have read assume I have access to the device in the first place. There were never any alterations done to the ROM so I presume version V10F was the last OTA update MetroPCS sent the Optimus L9. My goal is to have an accessible device that I can hopefully install my own MetroPCS SIM-card in to, converting it into a working phone. So, I don't really mind if you tell me the only way I'm going to unbrick this thing is by loading CWM or CyanogenMod or w/e. I have no preference over a stock ROM or a custom one. As long as it won't re-lock itself when I insert my old SIM I'm in the clear.
Any help, links, comments, or hand-holding through this process will be greatly appreciated!
Thank you in advance for your time,
Gale

State of LG G5 root & custom ROMs end of 2022

Hi folks - after reading through a number of threads on here I can't seem to find a definitive answer to this question now that LG's unlock site is retired:
Is it possible to root and/or install a custom recovery and/or install a custom ROM if you have an LG G5 on a stock ROM right now? I just purchased an unlocked RS988 and would like to do all of the above, but I'm starting to think the scene is dead and/or dying. Can someone confirm / deny the state of modding an LG G5?
I can't even install basic apps like Microsoft Authenticator right now as I'm on RS98810h and my attempts to upgrade by following these instructions ended in an error via LG UP that forced me to use LG Bridge to recover the phone back to a safe condition.
I'd love to mess with it some more but haven't found any current instructions that work. Love this site BTW, I've used it to install custom OSes on many a phone & tablet.
Only H830 can be rooted for any other variants your SOL. It's highly unlikely that root will be achieved for H850 and RS988
Thanks for the info, that's kind of what I concluded from searching around here.
Just wondering, has anyone been able to install Oreo on the RS988 just via normal methods (LG Flash / LG Up)? I know the Verizon version got it (I have one with Oreo) but would love to get it on the RS988 as well. It seems possible, but I just don't have the know-how to cobble together a flashable ROM. I'm sure at this point nobody really cares and has moved on, but if anyone out there knows of a way to do it I'd try anything at this point.
Hi, Its Jan 2023 and I am querying what the chances are of rooting a H850 so I can use it as an appendage to a head unit in an old car with an aux in. I've managed to adb it into bootloader mode and it recognises a the device, but the moment I try 'fastboot oem unlock' I just get 'unknown command' response
My prime need is just to enable auto switch on ( achieved ) and auto switch off when power supply stops. My understanding is that any solution to enable auto shut off requires root..
