Hi
I've talked with Valera, he is going to share sources later this week
greetings

All my sources on github.
Latest build https://github.com/Valera1978/android_vendor_samsung_gts3llte was from sources on my github.
I'll continue work on Tab S3.
P.s. I spent more than 2 months of my life to make a working version (this is not for 20-30 minutes per day, this is almost full days with 10-15 builds and checks and code reviews), and I really, really do not want anyone to take my work, build own version and say - hey, I made the version, here's my paypal, pay to me. I am absolutely against this. This is my principal position. Hope @bonuzzz will agree with my position.
If thread with donate will appear - it will be automatically end of my public commits for Tab S3. It mean - development will be continue in the private github only.

Request for kernel source code

Hello all
I have spent much time recently attempting to modify the zImage included with the Fascinate to include a working recovery image for us to use. However without source code this an extremely difficult (if not possible) goal to achieve.
I am requesting that anyone who owns this device please request the kernel source code from Samsung, so that we may be able to fully utilize our devices. Even if you do not know anything about coding or have any personal use for this source code, it is your right to request it as an owner of the device, and this code will help us all immensely once it is in the right hands.
Requests for source code can be filed on Samsung's website at : opensource . samsung.com/ (remove the extra spaces, apparently I can't post links yet)
Click on the mail icon at the top to submit your request.
Thank you for your assistance.
Requesting right now. Thanks for what your doing! Any updates since last night?
i just finished sending one in

You just want everything handed to you, don't you? Quit being so lazy and do some actual work.
But seriously everyone, please take the time to fill out the request. The sooner we get the source, the quicker we'll see some ROMs.

Seriously, thank you to anyone who fills out the request. Remember, as an owner of the device it is your right to have access to the kernel source code, and it takes less than 2 minutes to fill out the request form. Tell your friends!

Thanks for direct link. Filled one out through my phone. Made it sound pretty formal lol. Let's hope we get the ball rolling soon, starting to miss all the active development on the older phones.

Once we get source we will be able to get a working recovery, then the floodgates will be open. My personal mission is to get AOSP/CM on the phone immediately after that happens, can't stand the TouchWiz and I intend to destroy it!!
Submitted a request. Only way I'll be buying this phone is if I can eliminate all Verizon/Samsung UI/apps. Even a vanilla ROM will do over the TouchWiz crap.
I am a little confused. What source code are you requesting?
If you go to h**p://opensource.samsung.com/, click on 'Mobile' at the top, then Ctrl-F for "i9000", you can find (what looks like) a zip containing both the kernel image and files you can plop in an aosp tree in order to build roms for the Galaxy S.
Maybe you guys are talking about source specifically for Fascinate?

So I guess Samsung is currently in violation of the GPL, then? (And probably other licenses).

Well i am sure they will release the source, its just taking them longer than i would like. They released the source for the Epic about 3 days after the hardware was released, and we are at about a week now.
Yeah, they'll post the code soon, they're just taking their sweet time about it.

Praise this man.
He did it!
OT:
Even though it is very inconvenient for me that wifi is not working, I will definitely test this rom.
Keep up the good work man!
EDIT:
I just tested it and man it is fast and smooth. Big improvement over stock! Because of the fact that wifi doesnt work atm I could not try everything but everything worked except Apollo( the cm music app) didnt want to play my music, maybe thats a problem on my side but idk, and the keyboard was all bugged and laggy. I suggest you to just put in the stock google keyboard inplace for the keyboard app thats now on it. I think most the people would like it more over the keyboard app you put in it.
If you fix the wifi issues I will test again and I will use it as my daily driver.
Good job man!
Pretty awesome!
The rom is running pretty smooth and no lag at all!
Great work man!
I found some bug that you can work on:
-Keyboard completely buggy - I instaled Android AOKP keyborard but the bug persisted. I try to use and I noticed that the keymap is ok, but background is bigger than normal.
-Audio jacker does not redirect the sound correctly, when there is a plug in the jack, it makes the speaker sound lower, but does not redirect the sound to headphone.
-Bluetooth headset connects and works like a charm, but there is no bass sound.
-menu soft key does not work correctly. it does the same as back button.
without wifi working, i couldn't check anything else...
I'd like to thank you again for porting this rom, i've been waiting for it since i bought this p714!
I'll be waiting for any updates, i'll test it as fast as possible and post a feedback for you.
cm10
Omitted the language pack, I hope that the final version to be corrected, all praise for the effort about roma ..
This Rom is only for the dual version or is also available in P710 version? can you help me? I need a Rom from P710 because I do not think will get update. It look great. Follow like this, I will be expecting for the official version :good:
im glad to see this thread,,, but i'm still waiting for the fix. thanks
Why you use Nova Launcher instead the Google one?
Despite it,
HOORAY!!! THANK YOU MAN!
mods please move to original development thread,,, well done OP i was just about to start trying for this right nwo, but you beat me to it.
ALSO please show your sources as per GPL

It did have the meaning, but it looks like you either dont understand english, or just really this dummy you are, I'm sorry for saying that. "Selling" something that is under the GPL license is, as well as I know, forbidden. BTW....

You are perfectly legally able to sell something under GPL (yes, for money) given that you provide the source code together with binary release. Same rule applies when you provide binary for free - you have to provide the source code as well.

He finds it very weird that you force people to donate.
The way it usually works is that the developer posts a fully working rom and then people who like it can donate.
People are not going to donate to some guy on the internet who says he will finish something if you donate.
It is like early access. The developer can always just get away with the money and never finish the rom.
TL;DR
You will get donations if you have finished the rom, not before you have finished it.

My own two CM ports are well and healthy at the "finished" stage and I have yet to see any money o my paypal. Not that I complain - I have done this for myself to be able to use debloated OS. But you shouldn't bash him since he has already provided something that actually works (which shows he knows what he is doing).
But I agree he should release his source code, as per GPL.

No, I am not obliged to give you anything.
Like a good, not like I do not enjoy it!
Sales are not present, there is only a voluntary donation!
And accordingly there is no violation of License text!

Yes, you are obliged to give Linux Kernel source for the release you are providing - under GPL. If you fail to do that you are in breach of the license and will face the consequences.
Regarding other android specific stuff - since those are Apache license mostly you don't have to provide sources. Linux kernel is not apache license though.

Per GPLv2 and XDA requirements source code needs to be posted for the kernel. Please do so.
Also per XDA rules donations are ONLY in appreciation for work given. There can be no asking of donations in the promise of future releases.
Moved to Android Development for now. When source is provided it can be moved to OD ONLY until an official CM10 is released then it will be moved to AD again. If this is updated to CM11, there already is an unofficial CM11 in OD so this will be moved to AD in that case too.

You're the greediest developer I've seen. I don't need your cm10. other developers will port for us.
we are fine with our debloated Roms.
Trying to do a port for cm11. Plus device tree for this device is a mess and have been working on trying to clean it up. Not going to be home for a few days due to family problems so I can't do anything till then. May need some help from some devs tho.. the last error I came up to was a busybox error while compiling kernel. Get more info soon

That sounds great, what about an AOSP JB for first? Maybe that would be easier since you have sources for JB and KK should be released soon, maybe with the sources(as it was with JB)

You should ban, you are very obnoxious. The Rules of xda says that you MUST put the source code, because Android is OPEN SOURCE, so it's free, anyone can modify it as he wants and here
And then YOU CAN NOT write: Works suspended due to lack of donations, everyone is free.

He should not be, under any circumsrances, banned, he definetly has done something very important and outstanding by creating CM. As soon as he'll provide the sources it all will be fine. Greeding is not nice, but let's keep the topic clean from anything not related to the development, period.

AOSP for R5/R5s

Just wanted to bring some good news, in case you havn't heard. Oppo has reviewed their OS-strategy and even though they’re proud of ColorOS they’ve realised it’s not what everybody wants, especially in countries outside Asia.
So they’ve decided to split their devteam and let one part focus on delivering a near stock android version based on AOSP. For the R5/R5s, apart from the camera app and screen off gestures, the ROM will be 100% AOSP.
As for updated to the rom, the initial AOSP ROM will be released based on Android 5.1.1 and the Find 7 has already received the update. R5/R5s is next in line and will get 5.1.1 soon and a promise of 6.0 early 2016.
There still is hope for Oppo!
Cheers!

Nice to see you here.
Your Lollipop Rom for SG3 LTE is fantastic. My son is enjoying Lollipop.
I am still on KitKat with R5.
Hope that when you have sources to start your magic
Nice to hear that you and/or your son is enjoying some of my builds :good:
That would be great, but oppo github has no activities since weeks, but I am watching other repos too .
So, I got in the private testing group and finally got around installing the new ROM part of the Spectrum project.
The ROM is based on 5.1.1 and definitly feels snappy, however, there are quite a few bugs needing ironing out.
I made a little teaser for you guys: https://youtu.be/9EYWkox82Ew
Feel free to ask any question you might have.
Cheers!

Some update, a new alpha was released two days ago and it's MUCH more stable... almost all the bugs are gone and the ones that are left are minor or insignificant.
I feel the public release is very close now
The sources will be uploaded to git as soon as the dev's feel the build won't risk bricking devices, in other words colse to public release
Cheers!
super many thanks for the info and the update!

I'm not so optimistic... It all depends on how good the devs want to public release to be. If they didn't care so much, alpha 2 would have been the public release already. I think they do care and i think it's important for them that this project gets recieved well since it's somewhat a new concept.
But i hope i'm wrong and they're compiling public beta 1 as we speak (write)

A beta can be stable until proven otherwise... so your question is hard to answer.
There are still some issues but the phone works fine for every day use.

Cyanogenmod Moto Z - griffin

Any word out for Cyanogenmod for Moto Z?
TWRP Team has showed amazing support already building recovery for it
The Hardware is awesome, would be cool if CM 13 or 14 comes to this phone
I hope but I don't think so.
CM does have very few SD810/20 devices. We have to hope for an unofficial port.
I hope so too, the phone is still new to the market, lets wait until developers get their hands on it
The problem with Z phones is the mods and how easy/hard it will be to support mods in other than stock based mods. But I sure hope that simple mods like the battery mod will work eventually. All depends on the additional needed software. Are the "Moto stuff" downloadable and useable on other roms than stock? Or do other roms need to build the very own support all from scratch?
İ finally built working cm14.1
But so many things are not working
Like
Wifi
Brightness
Simcards
Camera
Mods(are you kidding me!)
And also drains battery so flawlessly
But other things working like:
Bluetooth
Fingerprint
Touch
...
I'm working on it until someone upload official stock firmware 7.1 but this device need more developer and I'm alone on this project
If someone can help me contact me to build more stuffs together
just registered to say i've got most things working (ish) here:
the github url slash motoz-2016/android_device_motorola_griffin (not going to spam a bunch of posts just to submit a link, derp)
only things broken in 14.1 are:
- weird battery life issues (it lasts quite a while, but sometimes certain tasks seem to drain it way down)
- radio doesn't recover if it loses signal (curse you elevators)
- no mods support
- camera (this was working in 14.0 and died when i moved to 14.1)
- generally odd little things.
I havn't had much time recently to work on it (hope to change that soon) but it's been a daily driver of mine for a few weeks.
on the mods side of things, all the kernel support for them is already released on moto's github. it's just a matter of us actually using it (my kernel actually builds the kernel modules but that's not quite enough)
if any devs want to help contribute feel free to contact. (sent you a PM @erfanoabdi)

Hello. You forgot to tell the full truth. The case is the dev was asked to release sources and he refused.

Incorrect. People were asking for the Device Tree used to build Mokee, which wasn't and still hasn't been provided. XDA isn't a place for you to download roms, it's a developer community. Pretty sure the device tree would have been converted from one that was available (Probably OP3) and not sharing it is disrespectful to every developer who has worked on it previously.
https://github.com/MoKee/android_device_letv_le_x2 is empty.

Who's talking about rules? This is a community and communities have standards. You're free to do whatever you like but expect people to be unhappy if you disrespect the community.

First of all: THANKS for your ROMs. Second: i would really consider publishing the device tree, because there might be a few others who would like to contribute.
Although the Max 2 is a rather "specific" smartphone, which - outside of India and China - nobody really considers buying.

I know is difficult to you to understand this. There must be a reason why you don't want to provide your sources.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3494247
ffboy doesn't own anybody anything. He releases his ROM's for free, he doesn't force you to use them. Many rom developers don't release their source code/device trees, one reason is that people could take there hard work getting everything to work and use to build their own ROM's and get donations from them without doing any hard work themselves. Even my grandma can build a ROM when eveyrthing is handed to her. One example is the very resepected developer arter97 who didn't release cyanogenmod device trees for s6 for a while when he was developing for s6. Get off ffboy's case, he is a developer and doesn't deserve this, if there was a downvote in xda I would downvote the haters. You've already been warned by the mods yet you still pour hate on to the dev.
Edit: I agree with ffboy we should continue petitioning LeEco for device trees.
@whymoo
I am not arter97, i don't care what he does and i don't accept donations.
ffboy released his rom under mokee s name who they aclame to be "open source". Also i except to see the whole source and not part of it.
If ffboy doesn't like this he could publice his rom to a hoster like "mega"
ffboy and not me already copied code and signed the same code as his own and don't gave proper credit.
We are a big community and we help each other. We share our knowledge and don't hide it. I and other people don't like to reinvend the wheel again. This is a waste of precius time who lot of us they don't have. Yes! we can contribute, merge bugs and maybe compile other roms and yes, ffboy must accept, that maybe me or others wanna use his device tree or some other code. BUT we don't forget to give credits.
Btw i don't be warned and i don't see a reason why should be.
It's CM or stock based?
ir work?

first i opensourced kernel soucre as GPL requirement, but device tree was not GPL and you do not have the right to force me do things i dont like.
2nd i know i made mistakes on kernel source for commit authorship brcause i am not good at git tools but i have already corrected them.
i dont care you like me and my rom or not
i have released all source of mi max on my github
the only reason i dont release max2 device tree is,
Some people here is just do nothing but PUSHING AND ATTACKING me because they want my device tree to build there roms to gain Respect and donations i think.they are so rude and ridiculous
when i said "No plan to release kernel source RECENTLY" and released a few days later, they don't care and start attacking and pushing
i also dont warned by forum moderatoer by not released device tree
So ban me out of this forum if you can

I don't care if you like ne or not either. I gave you also a like. I don't care either to gain Respect or earn money through donations.
You are the only one here who try to gain respect or donations but your behavior shows me clearly that you are reacting like a little defiant child who felt driven into a corner.
I made a Pointment about you and you have to accept it.

I'd be interested in the device tree so I could play around building with some custom toolchains. All my phones run ROM's I've compiled myself but I've never shared them with anybody here as they aren't my work.

I think you misunderstand. Building ROMs with custom toolchains and then posting them here would be passing off the work of others as my own, which is not on. I'm not making any source code changes.

I understand it's just that everyone should be open with others it would allow us to move forward the rom development for this model that's just my opinion
