Hello, I'm trying to use a 32GB usb 3 stick as a portable OS with persistence. I've downloaded the files and followed the instructions to mount the image on the stick, however when I try to boot, after the GRUB screen I get a couple of error messages. The first is something like:
Cannot detect usb write speed, system may not boot
(it's a brand new USB 3 stick)
Then the second message is:
Cannot enter resident mode, not enough space
(weird as it's a 32GB stick)
The system I'm trying to run it on is a windows 7 Lenovo Thinkpad x131e which has 4GB of ram and uses an i3 u3227U processor.
Please could someone help me? I bought the USB key especially to have a portable OS and am a bit disappointed that nothing is working.
Thanks in advance
you need to provide more information about your setup.
1. GPT or MBR system?
2. EUFI or LEGACY bios?
3. using remix installer or third party installer?
4?what format is the usb thumb drive?
etc etc.
In Portable Boot, Remix OS will create 3 Partition in the boot medium,
First is the Remix System itself (REMIXOSSYS).
Second is the Remix Resident User data partition (REMIXOS DATA).
Third is the Windows-readable partition.
Usually, Remix won't boot from USB v1.0 or Slow Version of v2.0, based on my experience. It needs at least ~16Mbps Read Speed and ~8Mbps Write (v2.0), It's recommended to determine which USB version you use to boot. USB v3.0 is better.
One more is, my 8GB Flash disk are separated to 3 Partition by RemixOS which is 4GB for System, 2GB for Resident User Data and the rest for Windows-readable. But I shrink the System to 2GB and grow Data to 4GB to be able to install my apps inside.
You see? My 8GB USB are separated by 4:2:2, maybe yours too, sometime Remix only Randomize the Size of Resident Data Partition and Windows-readable Partition, and there's a chance that your Resident Partition are created smaller than what Resident mode need to run. It always good to explain your problem more detailed here as I can help some about bootable USB.

Hi!
I want to install Remix OS as a second OS on a Medion Akoya Convertible, means I can take the screen unit off and use it as a tablet.
The tablet unit has 64GB of internal storage, the dock has a 500GB HDD built in.
My idea was to install Remix on the tablet unit and Windows 10 on the HDD in the dock unit.
Will there be a problem on booting, if I just use the tablet unit without the dock?
It should boot automatically to Remix if just the tablet unit is booted and give me the choice to boot to Win 10 if docked.
Is this possible? If yes, how? Just install them both normally? Or is there a special procedure necessary for this?
(Sorry if my english is bad, I'm german..)
These are the cheap AndroidTV 6 boxes you can find on eBay, Amazon, Walmart, et al. I'm not concerned with rooting the device, from what I've read that's not possible (at least not if you don't want it permanently tethered to a PC). I am interested in using an external hard drive as external (_NOT_ internal) storage without having to format it FAT32, is that possible?
My issue is, I have a Seagate external hard drive that I would like to use both as a general backup device, and as portable storage for my movie and music collection. My desktop PC runs Ubuntu Linux and I do have files I would like to backup that require (or at least would benefit from) a filesystem that is case-sensitive and preserves Linux permissions. I've tried formatting the drive as ext2, 3 and 4 on my desktop PC and AndroidTV recognizes it, but will not mount it, I only have the options to prepare the drive as "Internal" or "External" storage. If I prepare it as internal storage, I find that it's formatted as FAT32 with a similar directory structure as the SD card in my Android phone. If I prepare it as external storage, I find that there is a single partition that my desktop sees as "unknown" (I'm assuming it's an encrypted ext2, 3 or 4 fs). Partitioning doesn't help, I've tried splitting the drive evenly between FAT32 and ext4 partitions and my AndroidTV box can see and mount the FAT32 partition but cannot safely unmount it (I'm assuming because of the second partition that it can't do anything with).
Is there anything I can do, without rooting the device, to get it to recognize ext2, 3 or 4 (or literally _any_ other Linux compatible, case-sensitive filesystem) as external storage?
I suggest use plex server on Ubuntu and let the hdd always connected to Ubuntu. Access media content from plex app on mi box
I suggest to check out Emby
It is an open source media server which worth a try.
Mi Box different models. consfused please help!!
The Mi Box reviews are available all over the internet.
But it is becoming very difficult for a noob like me to understand what features are there in each model.
I have been looking at MDZ-16AB, 3C, 3S etc. it is very confusing to understand which is predecessor of whom.
One comparison that i see here but is has completely different naming convention to understand

This tablet boots to the efi shell and reports three blocks (blk0 to blk2) no mapping and all three just show Alias (null) in the mapping table.
It will boot to fastboot and will boot from usb.
I have used manufacturing flash tool and Intel platform flash tool and they both fail to clear cache or format and wont flash.
I have ran gparted live and it takes hours going through chunks of memory with read failures .
Im new to this and now unsure if the memory is bad, the bios is corrupt or if it just needs to be formatted in some way.
I got this tablet like this so have no history and the bios is set to optimised settings.
Any pointers would be great.
My new Tanix TX3(S905X3) can boot CoreElec from microSD without replacing the contents of the emmc . Does there exist an image of Android or other Linux OS-es that I can write to microSD and boot from it ? I want to keep the original firmare on the emmc.
