What is TWRP?
Oh come on, you know what it is - don't try to fool me!
In case you're serious, though...
Team Win Recovery Project is a custom recovery for Android devices.
It allows you to back up and restore your data, flash custom ROMs to your device, repair broken file systems, root your device and more.
Read more about TWRP here: https://twrp.me/about/
How to flash and setup it completely?
- First, make sure your phone isn't RMM Locked.
- Download Odin3 v3.13.1, Samsung USB Drivers, latest TWRP's tar for your variant, latest no-verity-opt-encrypt zip and RMM Bypass v3 zip.
- Go to Settings App, Developer Options and enable OEM Unlock (If you don't see Developer Settings, go into About phone>Software info and tap "Build number" 10 times to show Developer Options menu).
- Do a backup of all your important data and files in your phone.
- Shutdown the phone. Once it's off, Power it On in Download Mode (Press and hold Power, Vol + and Vol - buttons together)
- Connect your phone in your PC, open Odin3, go in Option section and untick "Auto-reboot". Once that click the "AP" button and select the TWRP tar you downloaded before, then press the "Start" button.
- Once Odin3 finished to flash the recovery (you should see a "PASS" message), force reboot your phone (Press and hold Power and Vol - buttons together) and once the screen is off, press and hold Power and Vol + buttons together to boot in TWRP.
- Once TWRP is booted you first need to decrypt your /data partition. To do so touch Wipe>Format Data and follow the instructions in screen.
- Once it finished go back at the home screen and touch Reboot>Recovery. TWRP should be able to mount your data partition. Now copy the no-verity-opt-encrypt and RMM Bypass zip you downloaded before and flash them (touch Install and select each zip to flash it)
- You're now able to reboot to your OS without re-encrypting /data partition and without RMM Prenormal lock.

Try to in Odin. Once you press start to flash TWRP. HOLD Volume UP + POWER at the same time while the phone is flashing. Then when it reboots it must jump into TWRP. Cuz what you got is the phone reflashed stock recovery

you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you.
INSTRUCTIONS:
1.Download and install Odin,usb drivers.
2.Power off the device and boot into download mode by holding [VOLUME DOWN/HOME & POWER].
3.A Warning screen appears, now press volume up once and connect the phone to the PC.
4.Open Odin with admin rights and you should see the phone added at some ID COM: port if not then you have to download and install the appropriate drivers.
5.Now click on AP and select the downloaded recovery file.
6.Hit start and the flashing will be done in a few seconds and the device reboots.
7.Hold VOLUME UP+POWER+HOME buttons to boot into recovery.
Enjoy!!
Download(3.1.2)J510FN/F/MN/GN
NOTE : For some reasons twrp gets replaced back with the stock recovery if we left the device to reboot into system after flashing. To overcome this issue untick the Auto Reboot from the options in Odin and flash the recovery by following the above steps. Now right after flashing is done, power off the device and power it on by holding [ VOLUME UP+HOME+POWER] to enter into the recovery and 'swipe to allow modifications'.

Hi! I have my device (J510FN) encrypted. Is there any chance for me to install this recovery and then root my phone? If it is, how may I proceed? Justas normal with Odin? My intuition says me that there must be some caveat when using a custom recovery with a crypted phone...

Well, I have tried it and no luck. Odin is unable to flash the recovery. At least you don't brick anything because the phone just blocks the installation. Is there any way to flash the recovery (or at least to root the phone) with the phone being encrypted? Thank you.

Yes If N960N is Exynos Variant.
Device is bootlooping now at the splashscreen, Can't access any modes, 3 Button combinations (Recovery nor Download).
Any Ideas mate ?
EDIT:1 - After a series of button combinations, Charger plug/unplugs - Managed to push it into download mode and flashed the stock rom again.
The TWRP TAR doesn't work, and if you have any other suggestions, let me know.

In my free time I worked on kernel source code and a possible device tree, but I didn't managed to compile that and personally I'm not in the mood to build a TWRP for that device. Maybe another dev can look at it to fix my tree and compile TWRP for your device.

- Download Odin3 v3.13.1, Samsung USB Drivers, latest TWRP's tar for your variant, latest no-verity-opt-encrypt zip and my RMM Bypass zip.
- Go to Settings App, Developer Options and enable OEM Unlock (If you don't see Developer Setings, go into About phone>Software info and tap "Build number" 10 times to show Developer Options menu).

Who can help me find a modified ROM + recent recovery
Mobile type: Galaxy A6 sprint

Hopping on an old thread here, but hoping someone might have some insight here. All the steps above are successful except after it is complete and I reboot. If I reboot to TWRP, the internal storage is encrypted again.
I wind up having to format to unencrypt, but when I flash Magisk, it bootloops on me about half way through setting up the phone again. If I only flash RMM and no-verify-opt-encrypt, it boots fine. If I flash all 3 initially, it boot loops. I tried flashing just RMM and no-encrypt, setting the phone up, then rebooting to TWRP to flash Magisk, but then the drive is encrypted again.
I feel like I'm missing something here. Any guidance is much appreciated!!

To install Magisk nowadays you have to patch your boot.img file manually via the app.

Features:
- Open Source
- Decryption working
- Padding for notch area
Install Instructions:
- Make sure your bootloader is unlocked. If not, unlock it first.
- Reboot to bootloader
- Execute:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.3.1-0-begonia_UNOFFICIAL.img
fastboot reboot
- Boot using power and volume up.
Note: MIUI will keep replacing the recovery with it's own recovery. You need to boot to recovery right after flashing it. Booting to MIUI after flashing may cause MIUI to replace TWRP with Redmi-Recovery. So either find and remove the script responsible for this, or just wait for custom roms

good job mate
Thank you very much for your work man ?

Awesome and just in time. My timer is up tomorrow for bootloader unlock.

finally developers are here. :victory:
Recovery Updated
> 18/11
- Fix compatibility.zip error when flashing ROMs
- Remove flash, backup and reboot to recovery options from TWRP
Note: For some reason, writing to recovery from within TWRP and rebooting back to recovery bricks the device (in my experience).
Thus, the options have been removed for now.

Can I install this on Indonesian rom with miui 11?

You should have left both options available. The original twrp worked perfectly on my global phone. Is the twrp updated to support miui 11?
I am so excited to try this out. I'm just about to unlock the bootloader and it might take years lol... Thank you devs for supporting such device!
Edit: Does it support MIUI 11?

It does and I am using it right now. Just becareful and make sure you follow instructions to a tee. If not the phone will over write the recovery or you will loose your boot.img file. I lost mine and had to open the battery, disconnect, wait 30 seconds, boot into fastboot, and reinstall 10.4.1 to try again.
Are the steps all right?
1. Unlock the bootloader first
2.turn on USB debug
3.reboot to fastboot mode
4.starting flash twrp
5.boot into recovery mode
6.starting flash xiaomi.eu miui 11 stable rom from twrp
7.waiting it reboot
Are the steps all right? I don't have chance to disconnect the battery from cellphone so I have to do this at all RIGHT steps.

Sorry I am not understanding, did you flash it on miui 11? Everything is working fine? I'm on miui 11.0.1 Global.
And to reboot into twrp after flash it, will the command 'fastboot boot TWRP.img' work or I have to use physical button?
Thanks!

I'd prob wait till this gets sorted out there's a few different posts on this and there all different but all seem to be facing bootloop issues. I'm not sure if it's safe to go back to miui 10 or not without bricking it.

I am new to Xiaomi and miui, for what I know it is not safe you will brick the device, but maybe I am wrong... anyway I don't want to downgrade, just to root this damn miui 11 until a good rom is out.
Maybe the dev can clear our mind about! : )
