I have a Tablet Z with locked bootloader, was on rooted stock 4.1.2. Did the update to 4.2.2 with PC Companion, and after reboot my pin code does not work anymore. Strange?!
Anyway, I can not find a way to hard reset my Tablet Z, all guides I can find point to the reset settings but they are of no use since my PIN code does not work. I can not do a recovery with PC Companion either since it is PIN code locked.
I am very thankful for any ideas how to solve this.
Thanks,
Daniel

Thanks, but I can find no way to enter this combination, since this is not a phone, the emergency call option is missing.
Solved!
At my third attempt with Sony Update Service (the standalone update software) the firmware reset was successfull.

Go into contacts > settings. At the bottom of the screen (above the bar with the back/home keys), tap and hold on the empty area for about 5 seconds. A new button will appear which opens up a dialer and lets you enter the key combination

Didn't know that, thanks! That could be useful, although wouldn't have helped me because my tablet was pin locked.
Hi, i've updated my honor 5x to marshmallow with emui 4.0. I tried to root it but i had some issues when i had to unlock the bootloader or the factory reset protection. I saw a guide in the forum that tells you need to do the factory reset to set the phone to twrp recovery. The only problem is that i need to root it but without any factory reset or something else that nees to reset the phone. Thanks for any kind of help.
For rooting, you'll need to unlock your bootloader, and unlocking bootloader will factory reset your device. So you have to face a factory reset if your bootloader is locked.
Sent from my PLK-L01 using Tapatalk
But, to remove the factory reset block i need to remove any lock screen password, but when i try to do this i can't because it says that the device is protected by admin or something else.

If the phone still works simply go into settings and remove your Google account / and lockscreen password
then choose factory reset.
plug phone into the PC
hold volume down and power to enter the bootloader (fastboot) screen.
you can now unlock the bootloader from here.

If your locked out of the phone at the lock screen it's still possible to totally wipe the phone by flashing with the dload / update.app

Hi , you can remove frp even more easy than you think .
Do steps one by one :
- Make sure that your device battery is 80 % or more ( I will explain you later )
- Connect your device to your "Wireless network"
- Now go back and press on "Emergency Call" and dial : *#*#1357946#*#* and phone information will popup like :
What version of OS you are using ......
Device SN .....
Product ID .....
Just swipe with finger from left to right to open the "Simple menu interface"
- Press on "Settings HOME"
- Now press on "Security & Privacy" and add some simple "lock screen PIN". like for example 000111 and write once again just to Confirm , and if popUP Pin enroll for Fingerprint just press on "Cancel" only!
- Now Just Reboot (Restart) your device normaly .
- Now once the rebooting is Finished , PIN lock screen will popUP so write the PIN that you set , next on the screen Setup Wizard will show up normally like before .
- Press on "Get Started" ,
then Next // Skip // Next // turn On the Wifi and click Next // wait few seconds ...... Now Lock screen will again
appears so again put your PIN which you set before and press on Next .
- Skip "Google Sign In" and Accounts Setup !
Now you should be to the Home Screen , so you need now to remove your LOCK Screen Pin and do Factory RESET from settings and make sure that you set to erase internal memory which including google accounts , etc ...
After that you are free of FRP Lock ....
Good luck
what happens if this doesnt work anymore? [email protected] please reply thx
Hi experts,
Trying to keep my kids from using my own tablet, I recently changed the screen lock and forgot the new pattern afterwards
I have the credentials of 2 google accounts opened on the tablet and my fingerprint is already enrolled on the device, I thought I could live with the finger print but discovered that I must enter the screen lock once every two days !
Now the device is locked, and it doesn't give the option of "forgot your pattern" or reset using your google account.
I'm trying to poweroff the device to restart in recovery mode, but even the poweroff function requires the screenlock pattern. I had to let it till battery is empty to poweroff, and yet I can't start it in recovery mode (power + volume up)
The WiFi is ON on the device, and it's connected to Internet, but though Google android device manager can't locate or connect to it !
My 2 Questions are:
1- How can I unlock the device with my google account or fingerprint ?
2- If the above is not possible, I need the photos and videos on the device :crying:, is there anyway I can unlock the device without needing to wipe out the data and reset it to factory ?
Please help & Thanks in advance.

I believe fingerprints and passcodes are stored locally on the device. They wouldn't have anything to do with Google. Hook it to a computer and see if you can save your files cause it's probably going to take a factory reset to get rid of that. If you can't access the tablet to do a factory reset that way you will probably need to use Odin to return it to stock and start over from there.

Can you access TWRP? May not function on the S5e, but on another device it works to use Advanced - File Manager, navigate to /data/system and then delete the locksetting.db file. This effectively removes the lock settings on reboot. Good luck

Might be a little drastic, but you can follow the instructions for unlocking the bootloader. That will cause a factory reset. You will probably need to let the battery run down. Then, plug the USB cable into a PC and NOT the tablet. Press and hold both vol up and down and then plug the USB into the tablet. This should get you into the unlock screen. It will also get you into the download mode to use Odin.

If he can't get into the tablet at all he's not able to tick the oem unlocking toggle in Dev settings. Don't you have to do that in order to unlock bootloader?

If you let the battery run down and then use the method I gave, you CAN get to the unlock mode. And, no, you don't have to enable OEM or Dev mode to unlock the bootloader and reset the tablet. But after doing it, you will need the google login info, which the OP claims to have.

The device did not has TWRP installed before. and it's not rooted, it is with the stock ROM
Can I install TWRP from Recovery mode while the tab is locked ?
and if that's possible, is there any pitfalls or tricks that I should be aware of when installing & using TWRP ?
I went through searching and reading about how to do it, and got questions
- choosing the TWRP version to download, should I pick twrp.me/samsung/samsunggalaxytabs5elte.html or twrp.me/samsung/samsunggalaxytabs5ewifi.html ?
- I read that the only way to install TWRP without rooting, is through Odin which I never used. but what I read in
getdroidtips.com/twrp-recovery-galaxy-tab-s5e/,
getdroidtips.com/flash-twrp-recovery-samsung-phone/ &
getdroidtips.com/how-to-unlock-bootloader-on-samsung-galaxy-phones/
mentions that the device data will be wiped in the process. Is there anyway that does not involve wiping the data ?
Thank you for your support
Hi,
Before everyone gets too excited it's not a major amount - I had a Bitcoin wallet on the phone, smashed the screen and left the phone in a drawer because at the time a repair would have been more than the amount on the phone.
I believe it was something like 0.25 Bitcoin back in 2015. Obviously this is now significantly more
After trying to just boot with a replacement screen (boot looped) I've now transplanted the motherboard to a new Z2 phone that I bought cheaply from eBay and the phone boots.
EXCEPT: I changed my screenlock pattern a few years ago and now can't remember my Xperia Z2 one.
Is there any way to remove the screenlock without wiping the phone.
Phone status:
Simcard works in the phone so there is mobile phone / data
I have Wifi - phone will connect to Wifi on open network from the lock screen
No ADB enabled (also tried Wifi - refused connection)
Can connect to fastboot mode
From the lockscreen I can see I have 2 google accounts logged into the phone which I can still access but it's so long ago they've been logged out on google
No idea which version of Android but I broke the phone around September 2015 as I can see my emails changing to a new phone
I bought a second Xperia Z2 from eBay for £20 to tinker around with so I didn't wipe the data on this one.
Thoughts and advice please
Maybe if you backed it up with Google...
Don't set screen, bios passwords or encrypt data drives as you are the most likely the one who will be locked out. Always keep copies of critical data as a fail safe. Sometimes all you can do is learn from your mistakes...
been there, done that

I've been doing some hunting since posting, apparently firmwares prior to 4.4 allow you to press "forgot pattern". I have access to the email account and should be able to unlock via Google.
So does anyone have a stock 4.x firmware for the Xperia Z2?
Do you have TWRP? If not, you can download it from twrp.me and boot into it with
Code:
fastboot boot twrp-3.0.2.0-sirius.img
Next, in the TWRP File Manager (under Advanced) delete these files from "/data/system":
-gatekeeper.password.key
-gatekeeper.pattern.key
-locksettings.db
-locksettings.db-shm
-locksettings.db-wal
Reboot to system and you can unlock your screen without pattern or password.

Possible yes. You can try to flash the file and reboot with
Code:
fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.0.2.0.img
fastboot reboot recovery
Edit: I got confused whether to fastboot reboot bootloader or recovery

I've just tried to flash 4.4.2 as apparently that supports "forgot pattern" and it's boot looping. I wonder if there are any custom roms I can flash with flashtool that enable adb?

If I knew how I let you have it... karma.
Funny how Google says its old OS version aren't secure enough... although Kitkat has some glaring security holes they don't seem to be helping your cause
Update: I had the idea of using the stagefright exploit to get a connection to phone. It worked once (well the IP of the phone attempted to connect to my PC) didn't connect to the reverse TCP though and it now seems to ignore the text message I send it.
Does this mean it's patched or does stagefright not work on Sony?

Step 1: Switch on your Sony Xperia Z2 and swipe to unlock.
Step 2: Now, tap on the “Emergency” option to make an emergency call.
Step 3: Type a string of special symbols such as asterisks ten or twelve times.
Step 4: Copy the symbols and paste them on the screen.
Step 5: Again, tap on the screen and paste your copied symbols.
Step 6: Repeat this process 10-12 times until you cannot paste any string.
Step 7: Now, navigate to the lock screen and tap on the “Camera” icon to open the app.
Step 8: Swipe down the notification bar from the top.
Step 9: Now, go to the device settings by tapping on the gear icon from the screen’s top.
Step 10: When the password option comes, long tap and paste the copied symbols.
Step 11: Paste the strings multiple times until this option is gone.
Step 12: Keep pasting the symbols until the UI is crashed.
Step 13: Within a few seconds, the camera app will be crashed, and the Sony Xperia Z2 will be unlocked.
Step 14: You will see your phone’s home screen, and you can quickly enter your device.
This should work if you are on an OS 5.0 or earlier.

I've mailed Sony, figured they might just give me an FTF which can unlock the pattern or enable ADB given the phone is 7 years old
