Hey, I was able to get root on my Y538. But when I tried to delete some bloatware and restart the phone I got stuck in a bootloop. I'm thinking I may be able to fix this issue by sideloading the Y538 kernel from the EMUI site. But I'm having trouble downloading the file.
Has anyone else in the history of the world had this issue before??? I could really use some help here cuz this is kinda my cellular device...
Tried posting the link to the Kernel I need. But I'm unable to. Just search Huawei EMUI Y538 Kernel. It should come up.
Lemme know if you have any questions or solutions. Thanks much!
I have the kernal if you still need. I can't get it to sideload because no adb recognition, though. :/
My union softbrick...also from root and reboot...is looking more and more like a hard brick lol. Any help would be appreciated.

Any update on this?
Today I tried to replace kingroot with supersu. Now the phone gets stuck on boot screen.
I can't find the guide how to use the source code to fix this.
Android update soft bricked my sons phone.
i can get it to boot into recovery and the sd card update, how ever, the update will not work. is it totally done for?
I used HuRUpdater to flash firmware to my Honor 10 and after following the instructions and performing a full wipe data factory reset and rebooted, it wouldn't turn on at all. I tried everything to get into ERecovery or fastboot but nothing. I read that there's is no solution for unbricking 2018 Honor/Huawei devices. Even Funky Huawei doesn't work or Multi Tool.

Yesterday one user was able to succeed updating through [HuRUpdater] and one of my friend was also able to update to one build but it showed different device specs and the same build build you tried hard bricked his device. If my guess is right it is the build issue and not [HuRUpdater] issue.May be I am wrong ?

Btw how does the brick Voids warranty ?
Its just a software issue and is covered in warranty.
Which country do you stay ?

I'm in the UK. I'm not exactly sure how bricking voids warranty but my guess would be because the end user is responsible for flashing various software to the device. I do remember seeing on the EMUI website that bootloader unlocking on devices after mid 2018 won't be eligible for bootloader unlocking due to so many hardware bricking cases.
I'm happy with my new OnePlus 6 though. I'll probably have to let go of the hope of recovering the Honor 10 even though I'm making a loss as I was gonna sell it.

Hello Guys,
I had exactly the same problem.
I upgraded to EMUI 9 and everything worked fine but I wanted to go back to EMUI 8.1 so I went to TWRP with the intention of doing a factory restoration and downgrade.
I made a Wipe / data, Wipe dalvic / format all data. After this I waited a lot and it didn´t respond.
I had to force the restart and since then the phone no longer works. Same for me, the phone has no recovery and no OS and no erecovery.
I have contacted the people from FunckyHuawei. I have paid 1 credit in order to unbrick the phone but it did not work. They said that; "It would need to be able to reach rescue recovery mode. If it can not reach that, it may be bricked beyond repair. "
Then I contacted another technician, I connected to my computer remotely and he tried to flash all necessary files via fastboot but some of them failed to flash.
He said it looks like there is no TWRP recovery COMPATIBLE for EMUI9 yet.
Now what to do guys? I will really apreciate any help. The phone has only 3 weeks and I feel so noob now.
Kind Regards,
Gerardo

Hello Max
I have flashed the update.zip using beta-downy_0.4 program
you have to transfer the 3 zip files update.zip, update_all_hw, update_data_public tp the "Zip-Here" Folder.
Then run the "Flash.bat" file and follow the instruction.
The update.zip will install the twrp recovery. Then I flashed the Kernel.img and system.img
after restar the phone was like new with EMUI9. However there are things that are not really well, such like the info in "about phone" is not showing the "compilation number" nor model number, also other options and functionalities has dissapeared but for the rest the phone works fine. At least you can recover the phone. I will do some more research today to fix those issues. I might have to reflash the whole system again.

Hello Max, any news?
In this case i would roll back on emui 8 to make sure that everything works and then go emui 9 by using hisuite 5.0.0.300 and change ip4 dns. Tht should work. I remember on huawei p9 it has to be with an earlier version to be able to pass some main things to the next firmware so you will jot have broken menus. That was upgrading ofc emui 6 to emui 7. I ssume though its something similar

Hello, I have a similar problem I've been using emui 9 for a month but I decided to roll back because there was some app draining the battery when I went to recovery and wiped the data but that didn't work for some reason. now I'm unable to use my phone the only thing i can use is the fastboot

My phone was hard bricked... Everybody said It couldn't be fixed..but I did! If course I suffered 4 days trying to revive it day and night..until I got it
Hello,
I fixed my previous issue that caused my phone to unfortunately not boot after Magisk patching kernel instead of ramdisk, but now my problem is a lot weirder and seems even more complex.
I wanted to patch YouTube with Lucky Patcher once again as the patch seemed to be not working now. After the patch has been applied, a communicate was shown saying that it couldn't make some file because blah blah and that firmware got messed up. I didn't care much, but then I wanted to uninstall YouTube's updates and it hung, YT was unavailable and Play Store was showing that it is still uninstalling, so I wanted to reboot. After that my phone started to bootloop. Flashed system.img and ramdisk.img again via fastboot, but didn't fix the issue. Tried using HwOTA to reinstall the whole system and then the party has started. Download recovery showed that it couldn't install the package. I couldn't reboot anyway nor enter eRecovery, so I forced reboot. Since then I can only enter recovery, broken eRecovery and fastboot. Trying to boot system just brings that broken eRecovery too.
Any way to fix that, or am I forced to install stock ROM, lock the bootloader and try sending phone on warranty (if possible, either way to the service)?
I am so pissed off that I'll probably sell the phone if servicing is needed and buy Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro.
Thank you in advance.

Why patch youtube app? To make it adfree?
Fyi, there's this mod app called Youtube Vanced that has black/dark mode and adfree which is awesome.
Edit: you can also install Youtube Vanced along side with the original playstore downloaded youtube.
Well, just to make it black and available to play in the background.
I know there is YouTube Vanced, I used that before, but just for some reason wanted to have original YT app. Not important. Just my weirdness Next time I'll just install Vanced, less problems.
But the thing that simple patching could brick my device... Oh boy. This is really strange.
oh, the irony of your bad luck with lucky patcher
i feel no pain for anyone stealing apps. amazing that the same person stealing apps bricks his phone in the process, and rather than spend time fixing it wants huawei to just replace it.
guys like you are driving up the cost of these devices.
guys like you are also responsible for huawei feeling the need to lock down bootloaders.

No stealing. Simple mod to make YT dark-themed and play in the background, that's all. Believe me or not, some of the songs I listen to on YouTube are not available on Spotify or SoundCloud, and Lucky Patcher had its beggining here, on XDA, right? Same applies to YT Vanced. No need to be pissed.
Huawei may not directly be responsible for the issue, but the fact they are shutting down the bootloader unlocking site, they want to kill modders and that's partially why I don't know how to recover. Modding scene for this phone is growing poorly. Only one custom kernel available that is not bugless... And a few ROMs, mainly because of Treble.
If it's irrecoverable, okay, I'll pay for a repair then, but after that I won't be willing to support Huawei anymore. I expected more care for their more advanced, geeky users...
And no, I want to recover it alone, but I am tired already cause this phone has already caused me problems for over 20 hours (8h debranding and installing Oreo, 12h debricking after Magisk patched kernel instead of ramdisk, and some time for kernel testing, fixing, Magisk stuff). I am just tired and have no idea what to do. And if I wanted to just go for an easy way and send on warranty/to repair, I would do it instead of creating this topic... Repair in a service is mentioned here in case it's irrecoverable. Clear enough.

background play is a paid service on youtube. you're stealing.
if you can get to recovery or fastboot, it's not irrecoverable.
you should really consider sticking with stock from now on. no one should feel sorry for you because you bricked your phone and had to work to fix it.
Do I convince anybody to feel sorry that I bricked my device? No.
Do I feel irresponsible for bricking it by my own? No.
Do I reccommend stealing? No.
I just have no money on my own, also previously there was no background play option on YT. Okay, maybe I wanted to crack, but it should be in my bussiness. Thousands of other people do the same, even here.
And yeah, I know it should be recoverable because I can boot into TWRP and fastboot, question is how, because I am already out of my mind. I'm not saying that I am tired to make others feel sorry for me but just to inform I can't handle this on my own atm and need some help.
I am on stock, that is right, not yet needed to flash customs imo as the phone runs just good.
Let's not offtop any longer. I just want to get some possible solutions. Right now I am going to flash all the system files via fastboot or TWRP once again. The problem is that I can't flash anything eRecovery-related.
OK, actually eRecovery and everything related to it such as dload, low-level reset etc. is broken. Even stock recovery, I can't even shutdown or reboot system. It is probably something deeper in whole framework, device is simply not available of doing simple tasks using its own functions. I am afraid it's not what I am able to fix. It's the first time when I have such problem.
I'm going on holiday on Sunday not bringing my PC with me, so I won't be capable of fixing it for around 1,5-2 weeks. But if anyone's got any idea, I am here to listen.
If it is more complex than a fellow mobile user can fix, I'll just leave it for specialists in a service to fix the issue. I hope it's recoverable with any tool just flashing firmware, either way my wallet will be hurt so much, I suppose.
Wait what? Now all the time my phone boots into TWRP from HwOTA, even if I flashed CATUVA21's version.
I mean... Booting after I just power it on, it just boots HwOTA's TWRP like it was eRecovery...
did u flashed the images that is same with your version?
or did u tried flashing kernel before flashing system img?
I had a similar problem when i used HwOTA, remember that HwOTA8 is when you got oreo and HwOTA7 is for nougat. Using the wrong one will boot to twrp if i remember correctly.

Yeah, I did both.
Anyway, phone's back from repair shop, quite disappointed that they've charged me for $80 when I could do it for $20 using the same tool they did (DC Phoenix), but whatever. Lesson for me - never ever overuse Lucky Patcher and don't believe that repair shop might be cheap. Also never buy Huawei anymore as it is extremely painful to recover it for nerves and for wallet. I'll be more careful now with this phone, still thinking about selling it and buying Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 or Mi8 because there's a good offer where I can get that phone for ~$380.
I'm going to do last mod to this phone - reflashing OS. The OS I got after the phone's been repaired looks a bit sketchy, because OS version is System 8.0.0.046(07P2) instead of RNE-L21 8.0.0.xxx(C432). Firmware Finder sees no updates for that so I expect OTA isn't working as well. Hope it doesn't get bricked again... Wish me luck.

Yeah I know. I used proper version (HwOTA8), but it flashed TWRP in eRecovery partition which made the phone complete brick because no dload mode. Hope that it doesn't make such mistake now as I'm going to install proper Oreo for EU locale.
Nah. I'll have to beg for a free (or cheap) repair once again because this piece of crap got bricked again. Thank you Huawei for providing so much pain while flashing your devices.
Whatever, a few days ago I realized the issue was way simplier than I expected. Just flashed oeminfo from HwOTA7 instead of 8, as the one in 8 seems broken and the device won't boot up. $80 repair wasn't worth it... Damn.
Hello everybody.
I have a simple Question about root on this model, is it possible to do?
And if it is possible, tell me how Please.
Best regards
Wojtek
I am looking for the same too
Me too... Looks like it is still impossible
Only paid method and who knows it will be work on my p30 lite......hmm
Hello ppl,
I know this might be a little old.. any way just for the knowledge lets bring this thread back.
I had the same concern for a while, and kind of eager to get mine rooted.. until now.
I managed to unlock mine, and root it succesfully. Latest version of magisk, safty net passed, root essentials running like a charm, I can ADB in to it and su yey!
How? main issue here is my p30 lite MAR-LX3A was already in emui10, and somehow this little sucker wont allow the unlock of the bootloader regardless. I used a unlock tool that is advised to work for this model using testpoint short. how ever it was not working for me, until I read the EMUI had to be downgraded to 9.1.
Once runnig EMUI9.1 I didnt had to re-run the tool it was already unlocked. weird.
Any how the unlocker tool I used was not the ABD/fastboot tools, it was a paid app in case you are still interested in getting it done I can tell you how. Just keep in mind you will need to Open the back cover of the device.
Think is there is no custom recovery image available that works, neither a custom ROM, so all you have is pretty much root access.
I beleive this to be a pretty decent phone so I dont want just to ditch it, I am working to get a TWRP image, if I a managed to so I will get a ROM done as well. Think the whole device has been off the track for dedicated modders and devs, so it has just not been worked on.
which me luck. I'll keep you posted
I used an unlock bootloader service for 15$. First i had to downgrade my emui from 10 to 9.
I can run magisk without problem. My only problem is that i wan't super su. I was able to flash TWRP Recovery 3.2.1.0 (HiSilicon Kirin 710). But i couldn't use it because the folder are encrypted. So if anyone has any idea how to decrypt this let me know

I'm gonna look for that TWRP img, I didnt find a working one acutally. is there a specific reason why you rather use super su ?
about encryption you usually need to make sure there is no password configured, I read somewhere about a guy that had his Face recognition still configured, and that was the reason he was unable to unencrypt. there are some zips you can flash somwhere around, but never tried them

I deactivated all passwords etc. But it didn't work for me. The only reason i need supersu is because i wan't recover some deleted contacts and mails after factory reset. And those Windows applications with real deep scan not works with magisk.

why dont you try getting an image of the partition with DD, convert it and mount it in the PC directly, I beleive using the scan software directly against the phone is more complicated than just scanning a directly attached block device.

there are a few things to try... you can go to wipe menu in TWRP then use the fix/repair option against the system encrypted partition..
-try reparing it
-try changing the partition from ext4 (check first the type usually ext4) to ext2, then change it back to what it was, ext4
last resource:
-wipe all data/factory reset ***** You WILL loose all your personal data if you do this **** just make a backup MANUALLY before doing this.. if you use TWP backup pbby your back will be encrypted too...
I manage to get mine unencrypted with this last step, took a few attempts, but had to reflash Stock so its back to encryption
Maybe we should create our own TWRP version for the p30 lite. There are many tutorials ^^

agreed I have been working on one that truely works, but there are a few blanks about how TWRP really works.. and its boot process. I have learned a little this past week, but still think gonna have to reverse engineer a working img to get some answers.... I was actually thinking on building a orange fox image better not sure what would be easier..
I have lots of work so I do this in my free time, but let me know if you want a help perhaps we can get something and port a nice ROM that's worth the device

Sure, ive been busy but will try my best.. about the unlock process I end up paying 19 euros... But try using fastboot unlock first.. may save you the money not sure...
1. Downgrade to emui 9.1 .. just plug the p30 lite to PC, install hsuite... Go for the firmware/software update... A pop up screen will show up with some small letters buttom rigth.. older releases or revert to older firmware something like that.. you will get too choose 9.1 only ... Choose that and apply.. Keep an eye out.. this will delete everything in your phone... Next boot you will be in 9.1.. avoid the automatic upgrade.
2. Turn the phone off, take the back cover and locate the testpoints.. short by using metal wire... The small aluminium wire wraps that come with bread and other bags for easy close are usefull just remove some plastic in each side... connect the usb cable to PC.. leave the phone side unplugged.. Touch test point with the wire while the other side touches a metal cover in the phone.. while doing it plug the phone to the USB cable.. the charging animation should not appear . . . Screen must stay black.. otherwise do it again.. if done right the device manager will detect COM port for your device
Identify the point with this video
3. use either app you want to detect testpoint mode and unlock... I managed to do it with a 3 day unlimited license for HCU client.. that did the trick their website have some tutorials easy to follow.
Hi all,
I have the same problem like a few other people. I unlocked the phone with HCU, and after I tried to root with magisk (by trwp) But the main issue, the phone is encrypted and the installation proccess of the magisk by the trwp got failed. How can I root this phone? Anybode has success with this?
Thank you!
huawei p30 lite device root support please
Hi, i tried to install a custom rom in my device (y6 2018 ATU L21) and an error ocurred due to my ****ty usb cable, so now im in a big trouble because the phone is bricked.
I backup some partitions before the accident such as kernel, ramdisk but guess what, the most important (system.img) is corrupted and i can't do anything.
The phone boots and shows huawei logo and then black screen forever, i can't access TWRP nor Erecovery, im completly stuck.
I searched on "Huawei Firmware Finder" but any of the ROMs for ATUL21 works (some of them have missing partitions) so now i only depend on the community, if there is any good person that has this phone and wants to help me by sharing the partitions to me i will appreciate such act of generosity, if you want to help me you can follow those steps (Need to be root):
https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/guide-twrp-backup-current-partitions.3853831/
If you have any stock rom that works for this model im glad to accept it .
Have a good day.
I think I have this for you:
ATU-L21 BACKUP
Good luck!

which tool do i use to write this file
Hello, it's been a while since the post but I still need your help. I have the same problem as describe. I downloaded the file from the nice man. Tried to flash it with fastboot but the phone still has the same problem. maybe you can solve your problem and can help me.
I only have access to fastboot because the rest doesn't work. maybe you also have a custom ROM that works on the device, which doesn't necessarily have to be original software.
Thanks in advance

Hi, this is what i have done to recover the phone. First, there is one mistake that i made and it was trying to flash the files from fastboot, you can't do that because the phone is bricked, instead you need to download the firmware from "Huawei Firmware Finder" and then you need to dissasemble your phone to press the test point. look at this video for reference huawei test point once your PC is going to recognize your device as 'COM' on the device manager, and then you need to use a tool to flash the firmware, i can't share with you the tool since i have switched to Linux distro and i don't use Windows anymore. But if you were smart enough to flash your phone i think with a little bit of search you are gonna find.
Good Luck and have a good day.
Hello thanks for the answer, I have already downloaded stock roms from 2 different sites, both are the same. There are many subfolders in the file but after a long search you can find some .app files right? What should I do with the file exactly? Flash this directly? If so, do you happen to remember the name? Or did you extract the various files from this file, such as "Boot" or something else?
