Hello all,
I flashed the T-Mobile firmware for my SG-965U1 from Sammobile. I'd like to go back to the stock firmware for it, but am unsure which one of the listed firmwares is for it. Is it the USC (not sure if that means unbranded or US Cellular), or something else?
Thank you.

Well, technically XAA is what it came with. I don't think it matters anyway. I have no idea why they post all those different U1 firmwares. Same with U for that matter. Anyway, if you grab the SamFirm tool, that's faster anyway. Put in SM-G965U1 for model, and XAA for region. You'll be done in no time.
I flashed my verizon with firmware S G965U1 that downloaded it from this forum. Forgive my ignorance but I have to ask this, I can flash my u1 with an AIO version of Argentina downloaded from samobile. Thank you very much, and sorry if it is not the right thread to ask this question.

Hi, Im kind of new to this.
I looked in a couple forums on how to flash the Official ICS rom. but I would like to know can I just pick any official ICS firmware and flash it?
my phone is:
android version- 2.3.6
Baseband version- I9100XXKI1
I know the firmware I have now is the Chinese one but would like to flash the European one. The person I bought the phone off of seemed to have flashed the Chinese firmware 2.3.6 themselves and I couldn't use Kies to update it, not sure if the phone was originally the Chinese firmware or not.
These were the two sites I was looking at to flash it:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278&page=2
and
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1544487
also is there a difference between those websites for the latest ICS firmware?
any help would be appreciated. thank you!

Shouldn't matter. The reason Kies won't update it now though is probably because the original owner flashed a firmware that has a CSC that doesn't match your location/carrier. You should be able to flash any I9100 firmware you wish, as long as it is NOT an I9100G firmware.

Those two are pretty much the same, if you are looking at the same versions. (e.g. XWLP4) They are just hosted on different sites. I think the one on Intratech's thread may have the older bootloaders included instead of the newer ones (newer ones which prevent USB jigs from resetting the binary flash counter), and the one on Faryaab's thread probably has the newer bootloaders, but that should be the only difference.
And that difference probably doesn't matter much, as I believe with ICS, you can use Chainfire's "Triangle Away" app to reset the counter regardless of which bootloaders you have. (but I don't know that info for sure)
Thanks for the help, just flashed it and works great !
Hey guys!
So I've had my S3 for a few weeks now and i bought it online from Kogan and assumed that the CSC would be XSA because i chose Australia for the firmware update thing when i first booted my phone up.
However Kies shows my phone as being ORS which is the CSC for Slovakia.
I decided that I'm going to flash my phone to another CSC but I'm stuck on whether to change it to XSA (Australian) or to flash an European stock ROM. This is because Australia is horribly slow at receiving updates and most countries in Europe are the first to get them.
So since I have never flashed my S3 before, I would really appreciate it if someone could explain how and where to download the appropriate files from. Basically I want to be able to get updates quickly without having problems here in Australia. Any comment is welcome.
Thanks!

If you want JB now you need to flash the Polish ROM, either ICS and update or just flash one of the ODIN images. Or you can use a custom ROM based on that official release. Start with the sticky threads, then have a look in the development forum.
Hi all, I need some information/help regarding the method to unroot my phone. i have checked a bunch of sites online and i know what the general idea is, but i can't seem to find the original firmware for my phone.
i am currently using an i9300 that I purchased unlocked from Amsterdam last summer. i have rooted it and have been using it on cm9 stable for the international s3 and now want to go back to stock firmware for warranty reasons.
i have been through the list of firmwares on samsung-updates.com but I am not sure which firmware i should install for my specific phone. there are a few netherlands links that i saw but were for tmobile...
furthermore, using *#1234# on my phone doesnt do anythign at all. the baseband version is i9300CELH1 when i go into about phone.
please help me figure out where I can find the original firmware for my phone that will keep it in its original warranty.
Thanks and I apologize in advance if I come off as a noob!

my phone was unlocked, got it for 600 euros so it wasnt locked to any carrier as far as I know.
sam mobile shows tmobile and vodafone, and a third one that doesnt mention any carrier. should i just go ahead with that? either way, is there a chance of my phone being bricked?

There is always a 'Chance' of being bricked but to be honest if you follow the Instructions it should be all ok, I have flashed via ODIN quite a lot and never had any issues Id say go for whichever ROM version you want e.g. is 4.1.2, I know new version is out on Vodafone so id say give that one a try just make sure to select the correct model number
Hi Guys
I'm a newbie here... I've done thorough searches here, but no-one's posted a query like I seem to have?!
I purchased an Australian SGS3 I9300 on the Optus network from the UK eBay site (this wasn't mentioned in the auction, so I expected to receive a full UK firmware/spec phone), it comes with Jellybean which I'm not a massive fan of...
Am I able to downgrade the australian 4.1.2 Jellybean firmware, to either an international or UK (O2 Telefonica) ICS 4.0 (which I love)?
Is it just a general download of the international firmware from Sammobile and flash through Odin?
Any help and advise appreciated

I would root the phone first and make a backup of your current firmware. Then just get the ICS FW you want to flash and do it through odin.

I was 'hoping' not to root it, and just do it as a general firmware download?

wouldn't you rather have a backup just in case though? you can always use triangle away and then once you flash with odin you will be back to stock anyway!
Get a copy of the firmware that is currently on the phone or at least make a note of it .
Then via Odin flash a stock UK rom from stock rom thread or from sammobile.com .

Thanks for your reply guys - very helpful
I'm going to make the backup and install the new (older) firmware
I'm entirely new to this so try to bear with me
I recently bought a Galaxy SII from a one day deals store and it arrived running Gingerbread 2.3.5. I want to update to the latest version available for the SII however the OTA update won't connect to the server and Kies (after at least two hours trying to get it to recognise my device) has told me that my current firmware can't be updated. Unless someone knows an obvious fix for Kies I guess I'm stuck with having to flash the new firmware using Odin. I'm using a guide on CNET (unfortunately I can't post links yet) that goes through installing ICS but replacing ICS with Jelly Bean.
The biggest problem is which firmware to get. My CSC code is OXA (Open Europe). Do I have to find firmware that matches that or can I just chose any one that I please then follow the guide that I'm using? I've been looking on SamMobile and there is a lot of different regions to chose from but none of them have the OXA CSC code and I don't know what to do. Also, is there anything I should look out for? I don't want to brick my phone.
Thanks in advance for your help. I'm sure it gets tiresome helping people like me.

There you go OXA It seems open Europe ended at 2.3.5 .. No wonder you can't update.. Anyway Poland's firmware should work just fine. Or just search the firmware of your own region. Do remember to do a factory reset after flashing JellyBean!
Alternately I recommend this. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1544487 Its the latest firmware Samsung has to offer.

Thanks for the speedy reply. I think I understand now. The CSC is really only relevant to your current version. If I flash Jelly Bean from another region the CSC will just change to that region and still work as normal? Does it have any effect whatsoever on the function of the phone?

Yes CSC is bundled with the firmware. Dunno why but every time I flash a firmware it does not come with CSC and I must flash it manually.. Now that's a whole other story. If you plan on flashing a firmware not related to you region e.g you flash a European firmware while you stay in Asia then the CSC is quite pointless as kies won't let you update through it anyway. That said you must have the correct CSC/Firmware/Modem and region to recieve official updates through Kies. If not updating via Odin is good as well .

Well I live in New Zealand and the phone that I have has the European CSC code. The site that I got it from is called 1-day who claim to find the best prices from around the world in order to give ridiculously low prices. I assume that means that my phone came all the way over from Europe. Based on what you say then, I assume then that the CSC wouldn't matter in my case anyway as even stock, my CSC is in the wrong region?

Its OK at most bring it down to Samsung service centre and ask them to update your phone to the latest they have. They should be more then happy to help.

Awesome, thanks for your help. I'm fine with just flashing it with Odin. I was planning to root it anyway. I'm just trying to find out as much as I can before I try.
