Has anybody else noticed that your fingerprint is grtting slower after some time?
At the fresh install of rom, when I put my finger on sensor it would immediately unlock it, whether the device was in deep sleep or not. But now, after 2 months of usage, whenever the device is in deep sleep it takes about 1 sec to unlock it when it is in deep sleep, but if I press power button and then put my finger on sensor it unlocks instantly.
I am running cm13 by santosh. Has anybody else experienced this?
I tried deleting cache/dalvik, deleting all fingerprints but nothing has changed.
I find my Xperia X still very useful, I'm currently using another phone as my daily phone but I still use my XX to record audios from my practices (I'm musician) and video, because the quality is better than my daily phone's.
However, what got me tired was the fingerprint scanner. It's very inaccurate and fails to unlock the phone almost every time, and I find this very frustrating. I don't know if this happens because I have fat thumbs (LOL), the phone has some defect or there's a problem with the fingerprint/power button. Does anyone else have the some problem?
My real question is: may be possible to remap the power button so it acts only as a fingerprint scanner? Considering that we practically don't need a power button to turn the screen on... My current daily phone is a Honor 8, and I just love the fingerprint scanner in the back, which I use 98% of the time for turning it on and unlocking it at the same time. The thing is that the fingerprint scanner and the power button are not tied as in the XX. I think remaping the power button to act as a fingerprint scanner would give me more chances to try to unlock it before disabling the scanner after many attempts, because the screen would be actually off and it wouldn't be necessary to press the button everytime, it'd be only needed to put my finger on it.
It sounds really complicated I know, but if there's any chance, please tell me. Or, do you think ROMs like AOSP or Cyanogenmod would do this? I'd like to think so, but ufortunately I see poor development for the XX
Hello,
Long time lurker here and was hoping for some advice/ suggestions.
I have a Canadian S9 Plus (on Bell Mobility) and noticed the following issues/ annoyances:
1) When the phone is woken up (e.g. pressing the virtual home button, plugged into charger, new text message received, etc.), the screen would turn on, continuously look for fingerprints ("Wipe the fingerprint sensor and try again" message would keep flashing) and would not shut off until I press the power button to turn off the screen
2) The fingerprint sensor generally works (e.g. unlocks the phone, swipes to drop down notification window), HOWEVER it does not work to unlock the phone if the phone has been sleeping for more than a few minutes (nothing happens no matter which direction I swipe/ press the fingerprint sensor). When I try to unlock the phone, I will have to press the power button to wake up the phone then swipe the fingerprint sensor. This may be a standard feature, but after pressing the power button to wake up the screen I will always get a message that says "The fingerprint sensor may be dirty. Clean it and try again.". Again the fingerprint sensor otherwise works so cleanliness of the sensor isn't really an issue here.
Has this happened to anyone's phone? I tried clearing cache/ resetting app preferences/ factory resetting the phone multiple times but with no luck. I also called Samsung but the conversation didn't go anywhere.
Any other suggestions? Thanks in advance for your help!
Have not had that issue with mine.
Do you have the finger sensor gesture on?

Tried both finger gesture on and off - no difference with the same issues persisting :crying:
this is the exact issue im facing when i got my s9+, i also thought that it was a factory defect. but luckily recently it didnt came up again and i did nothing. but still continuing monitoring the issue as it is really so bothersome.
Sounds like a defect to me. I'd exchange it.
I have not had any issues. Have you tried re-scanning your fingers? I noticed that this finger print scanner is different from the one on my LG V20. It feels different, and seems to operate different. It's also a little smaller which makes me have to position my fingers different.
I also read the instructions wrong.. I was supposed to swipe my finger during the setup. I was pressing it down. Either way mine works great.
Same issue here, did you manage to solve it?

Not at all - I ended up returning it. Any luck on your end?
Maybe try registering your finger/s with and without a case on. See what happens.
Same issue here. This is the one thing that really bugs me about this phone.
I recently upgraded from 9.0.0.179 to 9.1.0.210, and now my fingerprint reader almost never wakes up and unlocks the phone instantaneously like it used to. If the phone has been in sleep for atleast a couple hours, it doesn't work. I have to first turn on the screen with the hardware buttons. If the phone was recently used, just putting my finger/thumb on the reader can wake and unlock the phone, but it takes 4-5 seconds of pressing the print on the reader to have the screen turn on. The screen only instantaneously wakes up and unlocks if the phone was used in the past few minutes.
Has anyone else had this problem? Does anyone know how to fix it?
Just an update in case anyone else experiences this in the future: I have found that if I tap the fingerprint scanner a few times, it will wake up the phone faster and even if in deep sleep.
The stock ROM of my Moto G6 Play had a feature where if you'd pick it up it'd wake up automatically. I think it worked with the accelerometer.
On the Blackberry Leap I had before that you could just swipe up on the screen when it's off and it'd unlock.
For the past years I've been running GSI ROMs on it, where it seems you have to press the physical power button or use the fingerprint sensor to wake the phone up.
However, both the power button and fingerprint sensor are getting more and more broken over time.
So it would be... very convenient to have a more convenient method to wake the phone.
Is there anything that works on a GSI ROM without Google services?
I found WaveUp on F-Droid, but it works very poorly on my device, unlocking only after excessive waving for a good while.
