I'm such 'a pain in the neck', within one week I owed two Note8 phones, sent them back and finally now: I ordered a spankin' brand new 9+! See, once I designated the money some ten days ago, for that first, new, N8 for $650 during Amazon Prime I was the happiest dog on the face of Earth. Then came a big disappointment, that phone would not pass Google's integrity, was uncertified and had very spotty BT, couldn't play music in my car. It went back and I ordered the N8 DS International for which I'm still waiting 4 days on, no show. I'm in contact w/ Amazon, told them about the deceptive trackin'/emails the '3 party' vendor is sending to me since. I mean, a classic 'buyers beware' situation. They advertised that phone for $620 under AmazonPrime partnership as a new phone, blah, blah. So I told Amazon now it's their responsibility if they're allowing 3 party people to do such a diversions. They agreed, I will get my money back and when the phone shows up, I'd just send it back right away. And I will get a one month of free Prime for my trouble. (Late delivery)
Now, "the happy days are here again", I ordered the S9+ unlocked, (has the lte band 71) directly from Samsung: 128GB(only$50 over the 64GB:laugh:
What helped me to make this move was this promotion-deal: Chromebook 3 11.6” (32GB Storage, 4GB RAM) for 29.99, so am hoping to sell it in orig. pckge on eBay for at least $150-170 to smooth over the $950 price for the S9+(incl.tax). Got free MicroSDXC EVO Plus Memory Card w/ Adapter 128GB with it, too.
So, decisions -decisions, I think I've made a good one, I usually stay with one phone for several years. I'll be seeing you around our Galaxy!
No matter how bad it gets, I'll NEVER give up a Note for a S+ device. I can not give up my S-Pen.
I'm sorry to hear about the difficulty you went through. Had I been in your shoes, I'd have traded in my Note8 for a Note1 before going to a S9+

I really wanted that N8 but got frustrated with amazon vendors making you believe that you're buying a "new" phone, as I tried twice, and then it turns out to be a lemon(x2). Official Samsung price was still around $950 for the N8 and with that am't of bucks to part with I had to do some reasoning in my head.
For S9+, 128GB, next gen Soc, better camera(didn't know for sure about that then - buy it really is great) and a few other things, the sticker price was $890(+$60tax) including about $250 of 'perks': a 128GB redEvo SD and 32GB Chromebook. I put the chromebook on swappa and it took only 2 days to sell it for $170, shipped it out earlier this morning and my final, total price (state tax included) for S9+ w/ 128GB SD ended up @ $840
I'd agree with your reasoning, but I know that I'd soon want to get something with an S-Pen.

Even with the Asus TF Prime released and shipping, I still have my heart set on the GTab 10.1. My only concern is the similar price tag for two products released nearly half a year apart.
Do you guys think the price for the GTab will drop now that the Prime is the best android tablet out there (at least spec-wise) or is it just a waste of time and I should get it now?
I know there is no way to know for sure but I would like the hear your opinions.
Thanks
Read in a thread that Walmart is selling wifi 16gb for 349$ in US. Try for such offers
I got mine from Walmart for $349--but only because they substituted it for the Acer Iconia they had advertised. I got the only one my local store had.
I think you answered your own question (as it gets older and newer gear comes out the price will go down), but I'd say since Samsung is taking a page from the Apple playbook and not discounting old hardware until newer hardware is available, I think that the MSRP will not change.
That said, some retailers may discount it. Amazon has already dropped the price to $450, and I think it won't be long before others drop it to $400. If the $50 is worth it, wait 2 months. If not, get your tablet now and join the fun! BTW- make sure you get a warranty unless you're getting a really good deal. Sometimes people think they've done well by saving $50 with a craigslist deal...

Yeah, I already ordered one!
Nice find, trying to see if i can pull enough together for one. Having 2 TP's would be nice.
Got Mine....!
Just snagged mine
hrm
i actually came here to ask if it was worth getting one of these things..
Does its internals still hold up to try out more recent apps/games?
Thanks!
Just wooted myself one. Had the 16GB model since the first day of the fire sale. But really wanted a 32GB for the luxury of the extra space and to dual boot ICS.
Excited!
Bought one last week and I've almost chewed off all my fingernails waiting for it in the mail.

I second this concern. I am torn as well. Considering a used one for around $200 (since I missed out on this woot deal), but do they still hold up to current offerings? I am thinking mostly performance and screen quality.

I don't understand your question. What do you mean by "current offerings"? But I'll say this, there isn't a pad out there in the $200 price range that comes anywhere near the Touchpad's performance.

How about $250-300 used? LOL Keep in mind I'd be getting the TouchPad for $200 used too. By the way, I was very partial to webOS (I own both a Sprint Pre and an AT&T Pre+), but I gave up on it (can't blame me; Palm, HP, Sprint, AT&T and Verizon all did too). If I get a TouchPad is to have Android on it (or at least dual boot). Is it a worthy Android tablet, with a screen that can compare to IPS+ or Super AMOLED and performance that's at least close to that of an ASUS Transformer or at least Samsung Galaxy Tab?

I picked up 3 TouchPads last month & sold all 3 for $250 a pop within days. In hindsight, I probably could have raised the price to $275 and still sold all 3.
I am in absolute love with my TouchPad iwth CM9.

If you don't mind my asking, how much did you pay for them? New, used, refurbished? Where did you buy them? If I decide to get one, should I buy one off craigslist (which I have no problem with, since that's how I buy most of my phones). This person is selling me a 16GB (I don't care for storage size on a tablet) in mint condition with box and accessories for $200. Or are good deals like the woot one coming out regularly and I should just wait for now?
I bought 3 32GBs at BestBuy for $150 each. Stock magically appeared in many BBs a couple months ago, I picked up a couple.
I sold all 3, new in box for $250. I've seen refurb deals for 32GB for around $200 a couple times in the last month.
One of the TPs I sold on e-bay for $250, but it was DOA when he unboxed it. I sent it back in for warranty and re-sold it for $225 when I got it back.
Who knows when the refurb stock will die and TPs will disappear from the general market.
If it were me, I'd probably wait to see if I could score a 32GB for around $200 or 16GB for 150-175.
Have you checked E-Bay?
Good luck!

I know this isn't the thread for it, but is any functionality missing from CM9? I remember when CM7 first came to the TouchPad and a bunch of things still weren't working.
Think those eBay deals above are good?
WiFi drivers that were just released are pretty darn solid. (although I've personally never had much of a problem with Wifi).
The camera/MIC don't work yet (I could care less since I have a CM9'd Epic 4g).
Mmmm...some people have problems with sound distortion when the screen is off but only on the external speakers. I have sound problems, but I'm 95% certain it's b/c of my kids dropping it.
Ever since CM9 was released, I've used my TouchPad almost every day. I use my laptop & phone a LOT less when I'm at home now.

These do worry me. How is the CM9 development for the TouchPad? Is it active with changing downloadable nightlies or do you see a version every 2-3 weeks? I'm wondering if these problems will get solved.
Another question... Do you ever really use webOS?
I haven't booted WebOS since the day I installed CM9.
There are two sources of nightlies. The dev community is alive and well. Not a ton of players, but we have solid devs.
Thoughts? Look at the pricing and availability towards the bottom of the page.
Says October 11th and $498. Seems like the legit Samsung site.
http://www.samsung.com/sg/news/local/samsung-gear-s-and-gear-circle-enhances-the-smart-wearable-experience
Is that only a Singapore date?
That's what I'm wondering, either way gives me hope of a US October release. Personally I'd like to grab my 4 and Gear S at the same time, like I did last year with my Note 3, Gear and Note 10.1 2014 in one purchase, made for an overwhelmingly good, fun night lol. But I'd like to kick start my Note 4 with a Gear S attached to it.
that`s about what $400 US?
No idea, I'd pay it though! Just need some US info, I'm more excited about the watch than any other device right now.
As much as I want one. I need to see a full review with a production model.

Eh, most product reviews are usually by idiots in my opinion that have no idea what they are looking at, I realized this last year with the Gear 1, people are still referencing uneducated early reviews about the Gear 1 when talking about the Gear S, I'm still using my Gear 1 that was "so horrible on battery" lol and its awesome on battery.
The reviewers usually know much less than we but occasionally proved useful information.
We still need to know full specs and capabilities.
Agreed, I'm a huge fan of reviews and unboxing videos prior to a purchase but I take them with a grain of salt and worst case scenario I just most stores return policy.
I find it odd that this watch is released before the Note 4 or Edge.
Based upon the leaked Australian pricing, the Gear S USA would be around $375. My guess is they round that to $350 which would make it about $15 a month on a 2 year non-binding agreement or maybe $100 on a 2 year contract.
Finally read the give print on the att site and got an idea of how they plan to set up the gear s. Figured I'd share for any that didn't know.

I think that is a bit misleading. If the watch is 3G and has a sim card, you will be able to receive SMS directly without a cell phone. I think what they are trying to say is that you will be able to add your Gear S to an existing Smartphone Contract but you won't be able to have the Gear S as your only phone.
We'll see. A lot of confusing info out there. Would be nice of them to just give a for sale date and price though.

That includes VAT and of course everything always costs more in England. We also don't know if that site is gouging people or not. My guess is $350 USD.
Lol I'm just getting frustrated with the mobile carriers and Samsung, Samsung did this last year with the Note 10.1 2014 all hush hush until a week before it's for sale, stupid move in my opinion especially for high end expensive products, if someone doesn't make a lot of money and they try to save they don't know how much or for how long, or if they are really in the market for something (ie; like me with a tablet last year, I really wanted the new note 10.1 but had to wait almost two months for just a release date, and I almost bought a different non Samsung tablet instead, luckily for Samsung and myself I held out) but to think that most people can just drop $4-500 on a watch or $7-800 on a tablet on their next paycheck like that, is just stupid and is what's killing their first week sales. I've had my Note 4, VR and especially my Gear S money sitting in a jar just piling up since IFA I've probably accumulated double what everything will cost, but then again I'm not sure lol, I'm sure I'll find out 3 days before it's time to finally get one and hopefully I have enough, or still want it.
I'm not sure who, Samsung or the cell companies, lol but for Christ sakes give people time to plan and not string them along for months with not even a rough estimate of price or what were in for as far as if it's another monthly phone charge. We're 25% through October and still nothing, I'm all about Samsung products so I'll hold out, but how many people do you think won't? And Samsung wonders why their profits are down 40 something percent since last year. Hate to say it, because I hate Apple as a whole, but they were shipping a week after announcing, hit em while it's hot, Samsung yet again announces and let's the oven cool, most people would of scooped this off the shelves soon after IFA because of all the buzz, wait two months and hear nothing about it again most people will move on and probably grab a Moto 360 or something, so Samsung is just hurting themselves.
I personally am not the type who gets more excited over months of anticipation, I get annoyed and frustrated, but I swear by Samsung products, how about the people who don't? That are willing to try them out over the new iPhone, but weren't willing to wait forever and just say screw it and grab the iPhone? There's your numbers Samsung, there's your profits.
I wish they'd Stop trying to beat Apple and worry about stealing their users, it won't happen, they're brainwashed and are not worried about specs or bang for their buck, spoke could release the iTurd and those kids would ready it up, so worry about the people who are diehard Samsung fans, they keep the lights on, I've personally converted about 5 iPhone users to Samsung s5's and Note 3's and will continue to do so.
If they keep us happy, we'll do more marketing then any reviewer or competitive release date will.
Lol so let's get some friggin' info already.
Side note (no pun intended):
I fear the day Samsung stops making removable backs with swappable batteries and micro sd card slots! they did it on the alpha, which I almost considered picking up to have as a side phone to my Note 4 until I saw no expandable memory, next goes the removable back and then we got an android (or Tizen) iPhone which is the opposite of what I want in a smartphone. I honestly won't buy a phone that I can't remove the battery or especially doesn't have expandable memory. The only ones really complaining about the plastic are people that use iPhones and don't plan to buy a Samsung anyways, 3 Notes deep, 4th in a few weeks and I've never had a problem with the plastic. We don't want iPhones Samsung, and iPhone users don't want anything besides an iPhone.
Nice!!!!
The at&t site has full specs up but no release date yet. We know that it'll be a "connected device" meaning $10/mo on mobile share plans & I'm guessing you'll have you have a phone on the plan even if you don't want it. The samsung ppl hinted that the calling/sms features will be tied into GVoice but that's just conjecture. It sounds like it'll either have something to do with hangouts, or an app on your phone that forwards everything to the watch under certain conditions.
I'm not saying i know, just guessing based on all the bits on info I've been given by the 2 companies. I'm wondering how it'll be added to grandfathered family plans, if at all.
But can we just use it like we use the 1st gear and gear 2 connected via Bluetooth?

I waited most of this year for the Note 7 to be released.
I've not been able to use the phone properly for most of September (had to leave it at home during a holiday where it would have been great to use the camera). Had the phone crippled to 60% battery. Had to pack up and exchange the phone. Have bought two cases (one temporary while official Samsung LED case came into stock), a wireless fast charger and signed up to a year long SIM only contract.
There is nothing on the market that makes a half decent replacement. There is absolutely nothing that covers all of the features and functionality.
We (in the UK) await Samsung's offer to rectify this.
If as is rumoured we are to be offered a full refund or an S7/S7Edge plus a refund of the difference then I find that utterly unacceptable. I could have bought an S7 Edge when it came out, I didn't want one. I certainly don't want one now when it's due to be replaced in less than 6 months time. I absolutely don't want one at full retail price.
So here is a proposal to Samsung. Sell me a S7 Edge at HALF price with the promise to buy it back and exchange it for an Note 8 when it is released next year. Refund the cost of all my accessory purchases.
As for the Gear VR (now rendered useless), I've no idea what to do with that.
someone need to make a petition for everyone urging Samsung to do the right thing. I can't use my Note 7 anymore and stuck in a 2 yr contract. I am willing to take the S7E for now but they should sell the Note 8 to us who had the Note 7 at a discounted price.

That's the story that I've heard from a few sources. However it's hardly compensation is it.
I'm sorry for messing you about for the last month, I'm sorry that you will have to wait a year for a proper replacement, I'm sorry that you will have to pay FULL PRICE for a phone that you don't really want as a replacement. ETC. And for all these sorries we get NOTHING.
Not good enough.
Yeah but because they locked bootloader I had a T-Mobile version and I couldn't not Route 9 so like I said we can't bootloader locked I had to ship my T-Mobile one back to T-Mobile I got a full refund but then I purchased and international version so I could have came root but I had to purchase off of eBay. I paid the full amount through a store. But he is not holding the store accountable eBay not holding themselves accountable and Samsung cannot hold themselves accountable period Samsung will not give me a refund or help me out neither will eBay so at the time being I'm stuck

Accepting their replacement offer seems a total ripoff. The S7 Edge goes for 799€, the S7 for 699 in their online store over here in Germany, 200 € !! more than on Amazon.
I called Verizon, gave them all my note 7 receipts from Amazon and eBay like lens case, screen cover, 2 wireless chargers and they credited my account by the total amount. I am bringing in the VR to also get refunded. I get to keep the 256gb memory card and the wireless charger as the wife has s7 and can use them

I did some research, but it looks like there's no bundle this year and the options for a "deal" are pretty much limited to the Trade-In program (available almost everywhere) and the $100 off available only at BestBuy (but with a new activation).
Any other option that I've missed?
I guess it depends on if you want a snapdragon or exynos - I don't believe there is bundle like years past where you get a VR or Dex or something - but if you want to order the Exynos version - best I have found is Clove UK. They prep the phone to avoid region unlock when you turn it on here - great service - I got my note 8 there and have ordered my S9 Plus there too
I suppose the pre-order on Samsung site US will be the SnapDragon version... Is there any way to get the Exynos version in the US?

Nice cause it comes with 128GB of storage as well... Wondering tho if you had to pay any customs fees.
Edit:
I just checked how much it would be in $ without any eventual customs fees and it comes down to 743.17quid which is $1021.09! Haha! I just refuse to pay 1k for a phone, even if I could run vSphere on it!

I ordered my NOte 8 from them and when the phone shipped to me via DSL I did not have to pay any customs fees. Regarding the cost - in my view, to buy a samsung phone Like the S9 Plus that I can root and run custom roms - well - it's worth the price to me. Even though it does cost more than the Snapdragon phones sold here in the states - custom kernels will never be possible on those phones - so to me - its worth the additional cost.
Sadly looks official at least for the US no additional bonus on, Samsung, Best Buy or Verizon currently. Only deal I see is getting it from Best Buy with the $100 credit which makes at least the 9S+ $815 And the cheapest price period for this phone.
Will project treble help with timely updates for the unlocked? I'd rather purchase the unlocked over a carrier bloated 9/9+
I was going to order through Samsung and then I remembered that last year after I purchased my S8+ from T-Mobile less than a month later T-Mobile had buy one get one free deal and soon after Samsung offered the same deal with $0 down... I'm going to wait but Samsung is offering a trade in discount for eligible phones

My wife says I am addicted to my phone and I think she is right. I have purchsed every Flagship Samsung has launched since the note 2. Every one of them. I typically buy them when they are released on Pre-Order and then sell my old phone to a friend or through Swappa. (I sell them at a good price - that is fair to both me and the buyer - and they end up getting an incredible deal - damn near new phone - in pristine condition - usually with a few accessories thrown in too. And I get excited every time a new phone comes out. I love toys - and I am really excited to play around with the S9 Plus. '
My Behaviour may end up sending me to the poor house - but then, it's only money. and you can't take it with you. LOL
by ordering Unlocked variant from Samsung US do you know if device will be fully unlocked OOTB or just need a sort of Activation on the first boot ?

I noticed in ur sig you have the note 8 and pixel 2 xl. How do they compare battery life wise? I have the pixel 2 xl and I'm thinking about getting the s9+. Kinda craving some more features. How smooth is the note 8 on oreo? :victory::silly:
Is there a difference between the Verizon and Unlocked variants? I pre-ordered through Verizon but it's $100 more... Am I asking for trouble getting an unlocked version?
I pre-ordered the unlock version from Best Buy, but just within minutes of going live, it was unavailable for shipping and thus the only option I had was to pick it up from the store. Anyone else had this problem?

Correct, but that $100 is valid only if you activate a new SIM.

Actually no. I have one on an existing line and new line I still got the $100 credit toward each phone.
Only reason i know this is Wife has an existing line and was going to get an S8+ but the deals went out on that, at least right now, so temporarily I have a S9+ on pre-order just in case I can't get one.

I could get mine from the store or shipped to my place. I opted for the store since its right down the street from my work so makes it easy to nab it.
That was for both Unlocked or Carrier Locked phones.

I think I know exactly what you mean
Well said and I totally agree with every single thing you just said :good: lol
Best for me was Best Buy. I was initially gonna skip the GS9+ but when I saw that the trade-in value for the GS7 Edge was $300, I decided to go for it.

I actually sold the Pixel XL about a month after buying it. I missed the Camera on my S8 and then Note 8. Pixel battery was good I guess, about the same as my Note 8 - it was a good phone but I don't think it was as good as either the S8 PLus or the NOte 8, IMHO
I just ordered my s9 plus from Samsung, and Im on Verizon so I'm hoping I have no issues with the unlocked version.
I was going to upgrade if there was a good bundle. I was really hoping for a Dex pad since the new version costs what the VR kit once did. But, I've always wanted to try a Note and my S8+ is doing fine. It was getting that mystery lag, but a recent hard reset seems to have fixed that.
If a great deal comes along, maybe I'll upgrade.
