is there a way to set up one of my phones(phone 1) as a proxy. so when if I leave it in Denmark, I can take another android phone(phone2) with me to the USA.
phone 1 and 2 is tethered together through the internet, so when I call my mom in Denmark she will see phone1 calling her but voice is relayed to phone2
and also the same with text message

I've also been using it...
...with minimal troubles:
I use it exclusively via wifi, and have to use Tasker and the Google Voice Settings Plugin to uncheck mobile #, and check gtalk as forwarded phones. I believe that this should be a setting that might be built into the app, as it would make it much more useable, imho. The tasker workaround, however, did have the added benefit of allowing me to also disable the phone radio, while wifi connected, to save power, etc...
I often leave gmail page open on one or more of my computers, and this confuses incoming calls, so must log out of all, as calls can only be routed to one gtalk client at a time (Google's issue)...
Nearly as often as not, when I receive an incoming call, the GrooveIP dialer does not open to permit acceptance, and I have to chase it into the taskbar, to answer. Also, not quite as often, when I do answer, the call connects just long enough for a "hello", before the wifi connection dies, and the call is disconnected. No other apps do this, nor do any of my other wifi client systems lose connectivity when it happens, so I'm guessing it's the GrooveIP app, tho I cannot say for sure...
Otherwise, it'll soon completely replace my cell-service, once our car and truck are fully outfitted with carputers and 3G/4G data, so I'm excited to see their progress!!

I have a Viewsonic G Tablet (running CyanogenMod 7.1) and a Sony Ericsson Xperia Play R800a (flashed with R800i UK Generic 4.0.2.A.0.42, locked bootloader, Rogers locked and not rooted).
What I am looking to do is use my G Tab as my phone when at home, like install it at my desk and answer calls and SMS from it directly. Somewhat like a bridge between my Xperia Play and my G Tab. Then, when not needed, just "disconnect" them and go my way with just the phone.
Answering SMS would be way faster with the USB keyboard I have and it would make a crazy looking home phone.
I tried searching on Google and in the forums but couldn't find anything... perhaps I missed something?
If you guys know something that can do what I'm looking...

There aren't any telephony components in the gTablet. That said, you can still do voip. The Google Voice app will let you do sms. And GrooveIP works with a Google Voice number. If you use GV, then you can use your tablet as a second device. You might be able to forward your cell phone to a GV number to transfer calls (don't think you can forward sms).
Skype also works on the gTablet.
Just listened to Android central's podcast and somebody mentioned getting the paid app gvoice. From what I understand it allows you to make calls via internet (wifi or cellular data) and receive them using your google voice number. dunno about being able to disconnect like the way you want but worth checking out

I installed Skype, then bought a phone number ($15 / year) and bought an international calling plan ($15 / year - optional) so I could be reached on vacation. I forwarded my phone to my Skype number, and voila! any calls coming to my home number go to my tablet.

I basically want my tablet to act roughly like a Bluetooth headset (communication still handled by my phone on the GSM network) but with a dialer that would allow me to key in the number I want to dial.
Worse case scenario, I can live without the SMS but I would really like the phone to work as I want
Someone mentioned the G Tab does not have telephony capabilities. Can that be installed at all since what I'm looking for is hooking it up to my actual phone by Bluetooth and therefore don't require an actual SIM in my tablet?
there is an app called tablet talk, you can google it, which allows you to pair your tablet n phone via bluetooth to send n receive sms.
First of all, I back your pardon for my very basic english.
In Germany I started few weeks ago a project for the development of a new android app to improve emergency calls (112 in the EU,112 and 110 in Germany) of speech handicapped persons using mobile phones. Aim is to send at the beginnig of a GSM voice connection a synthetic voice stream with the GPS position data of the Android mobile phone, for example : "This is an emergency call. Please prepare to receive the position data of the caller. Longitude is five one comma one two three four. Latitude is six comma one two three four. The data will be repeated. Longitude is five one comma one two three four. Latitude is six comma one two three four. Voice channel is open now.". During the GSM connection there should be inserted simple synthetic answers like "Yes", "No" or "Please repeat" by pressing a button on the display. This way is necesseray because there is no other incomming channel with the PSAPs in Germany to receive GPS positioning data. There is no way to receive SMS nor to enable a data connection between mobile phone and PSAP. For voice communication the GSM should be used only, no VoIP connections.
As I learned during the project there is no official APK or SDK for developers to get access of the GSM voice stream into the mobile.
Does anybody have an idea to solve this problem ? Is there an indirect way via the microphone, perhaps ?

I will be travelling to another country, however I wish to keep my (home country) current mobile connection (number) active since a lot of local (banking etc ) services and sms alert notifications are received on my home country mobile number.
I plan to keep my mobile switched on and hooked to the charger to let it run :
Hence I am looking for an Android App to :
1. Monitor the incoming calls and selectively based on rules either decide to offer a IVR recording to leave the message (recorded on the SD card in wav or amr format) OR forward the call to another predefined number (presumably my cell number in the visited country). The caller wont have to pay the charges for international calling, since the outgoing call from the cell is originated and the caller and receiver are connected as if being on a conference call.
2. Similarly monitor the incoming SMS and based on rules either store locally or forward to predefined international number.
3. For point number 1, an option to upload the recorded voice messages to an online service like google drive or dropbox, with the filename containing the caller number/name and date/time of the call, and delete from the phone after a successful upload. This way I can retrieve the voice messages via internet instead of using the mobile operator voice recording service.
Back in the days on my Nokia N95 there used to be an excellent symbian application which was able to do most as described above and more, I am looking for a similar type pf application on android.

I am looking for an app which let you run a mini PABX on the mobile to offer similar functionality.
Does anything like this exists...Need your guidance and suggestion to find the correct app.

I ask because I recently got an 8.4" M5, and want to continue making cell calls with it it on T-Mobile when they finish replacing the 2G and 3G on their towers in my area.
I don't have a direct solution for you-- I really don't know. I have a WiFi-only model.
If you have no other solution, you might use some VOIP service to link with your mobile provider. Many of them can be linked one way or another with one or more existing phone numbers.
If you're in the US, the natural answer would be Google Voice. It will ring on your tablet as long as you have an internet connection-- even on WiFi. You can call out using Google Voice to US phone numbers for free. But for incoming calls you would have to supply your contacts with your Google Voice phone number. You can give Google Voice a list of your mobile and landline numbers to link into the service. So it will ring all those phone numbers when callers dial your Google Voice phone number. I often take and answer calls on my tablet this way.
