Because Huawei shut down the unlocking service, will there be another way to unlock the bootloader?
I have been looking to buy a new phone but I need it to be able to support lineage. Sadly, Nokia 8 seems long off bootloader unlocking.

Yes, I've successfully unlocked my bootloader with the second method

Do note that although there are ways to get your bootloader unlocked unofficialy, custom ROMs are still a long way from stable. There are no active developments for the P20 lite itself and the Treble ROMs do not support notch yet and are not stable enough to be daily drivers.

Hi friends,
Before buying this cute smartphone, I want to know if we have solutions to unsimlock the Xperia S.
Thank you all
if you have option, buy unlocked one
why?
1) phone is locked so no other network
2)unlocking phone would be very expensive since is new so £30-40 + wait to people work out how to (price in highstreet)
3)instatly lose warranty - (test point)
4) locked bootloader no fun on xda
-no fastboot
-no unlocked botlooader
-no xrecovery
-no custom rom
-no root
- long wait for update.
- i am not sure whether unlock simlock = unlocked bootloader.

Currently there is no free Sim Unlock in the DEV section. Best check next time before asking
The phone has been out around 3 weeks, might be a while before a solution can be found.
I have checked more than you can imagine that's why I have asked to know if there is a solution because I didn't find it
Docomo unlocked at purchase for $39 USD
Sent from my SO-02D using xda premium
I won my Xperia S in a competition from Three UK.
I'm on Orange and have my contract to pay so I asked Three for an unlock code. They've had to speak to Sony because even Three don't have a code yet.
I paid £15 on 9th March and I'm still waiting for an unlock, just want to use my beautiful Xperia

Are you sure?
A network locked phone cannot be root and no unlocked bootloader?
my X10 was locked and I could root it easily and flash other official roms (different baseband).
Then I sim-unlocked it before flashing custom roms, so I don't know if I am able to do that with a locked phone though.

Just got my Xperia unlocked officially from Three UK. So it works on any network however all the Three integration is still there and after checking the bootloader status I am unable to unlock the bootloader as of now.
So although it's unlocked to any network, it's still kinda locked with regards to the bootloader and rooting.

Have you flashed an un-brand firmware? (there is a way to flash another official rom without rooting/unlocking) Maybe it would be bootloader unlock-able after that...? (i really not sure about this)
But there should be a way to root the phone without bootloader unlocked soon or later anyway (just like the others)
and i know that the X10 can be bootloader unlock even with simlock (although the method came out quite late...)
it's just a matter of time, shouldn't be the end of the world

I've not flashed any new firmware as of yet because I'm not confident in what I'm doing haha. I'm not rushing to find anything, but would like to root at some stage. And if I can unlock the bootloader I would
IMEI UNLOCK Sony Xperia S
Hi,
I planing to buy a Sony Xperia S and IMEI unlock it...Maybe this is a stupid question but if I buy the Xperia S new, is it possible it comes already with blocked counter? or every Xperia S comes with 5 to 10 attempts? and if it comes with factory blocked counter, is it still possible to remove simlock? Would it be to expensive? I really need to know this in order to know if I buy the Xperia S or not. Sorry if it is a dumb question but I was an iOS user 'til now. Sorry if I post this in the wrong thread.
Thank you!!
Can we get a thread to consolidate information about the locked bootloader?
I need root, and waiting for an exploit to root might take a long time (or never), so the only other option is to get the phone unlocked?
Is the manufacturer able to unlock the bootloader? Is there a way to splice a root into a factory update?
SIM unlock and bootloader unlock are totally separate, so none of the 'unlock' services frequently advertised will be able to unlock the bootloader?
I'm am seriously frustrated by not having boot access, to the point that I am considering selling the phone and getting an HTC or Sony.
What really sucks is I bought this phone off-contract directly from Samsung because I thought only Carriers phones had bootloader locks.
FYI my version is the SM-G9250 (Asia spec phone).
That sucks.
I recommend you return or sell it and buy a T Mobile S6 or S6 Edge. After 14 days of purchase, they will unlock the phone. Also, it comes with unlocked bootloader and root is now available.
How do you check if bootloader is locked or not? I have an international version (F).
Thanks

Liking this phone more and more...
Unfortunately I spend most of my time in Asia, so I don't have much of a choice. This phone has more coverage...and there is no cooling off/return period in Taiwan. I can only sell it as a used phone.
So the T-Mobile us version comes with an unlocked bootloader? This is the deciding factor of me purchasing this device .

This is amazing. I never knew T-Mobile did this. What's the protocol for unlocking after the first 14 days?
I think its 40 days, or something similar
just call them and ask them, they will tell you exactly how you do it
I'm from other country holding the G925I version
how do I check if the bootloader is locked or not?
I'm So EXCITED! Samsung provides factory bootloader unlocking!
I posted the details here:

Is the boot loader in the Hong Kong version locked too?
Hiya, does anyone know if the Canadian version (SM-G925W8) comes with a locked bootloader? I'm trying to root the device but it just keeps failing in odin.
According to this, the latest update for T Mobile locks the boot loader guys. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3096169
HI guys. I want to by the mate 10 pro version but can the bootloader be unlocked?
Another question is that if the phones bootloader is unlocked and rooted do I loose some features?
What do you guys recommend, Mate 10 Pro or Samsung Galaxy S8+?
Thanks
Anyone? I want to buy the mate 10 pro but can the bootloader be unlocked? Or can the phone be rooted with locked bootloader?
If you like root and trying custom roms i advise you to go to S8+

Yes, but the free service Huawei offers will stop 24th of July.
You will probably still be able to unlock with dc unlocker but it cost money to use.
You can't root without unlocking.
Got it.
Another question, with unlocked bootloder and root do I loose some features of the phone?
some of them lose Android pay functionality and probably you will loose warranty
Huawei has apparently closed the the possibility to unlock the bootloader for the future.
Does this mean, there is no other way to unlock the bootloader with their devices and instal custom ROMs?
You can still get unlock codes. I have got mine for Mate 10 just today in the event I decide I want to unlock after 22nd July.
Thanks for this hint, halfcoast!
But i - and a lot other users - do not have a huawei phone yet and only think about buying one in the future depending on if it's unlockable or not.
Does the "huawei service" stop on the 22nd July and no unlock codes and no other unlock method, no customROMs for the mate 10 and their other phones afterwards?

My understanding is that after the 22nd, they won't be providing any codes to unlock anymore.
U can't unlock bootloader after 22.07.2018 = the death for custom roms
I will sell my Mate 10 Pro and never buy again a Huawei device. So easy...
Guys if I request an unlock code the keep it without do anything with my device I will lose my warranty?
Even without unlocking bootloader?
I have mate 10 pro c432
Mate the 10 pro be with you
You only loose warranty when you unlock your device, even then you can relock it and it should be fine to take back for warranty

What nzzane wrote is correct. I had an honor 6x that I unlocked then found a screen problem, relocked it and had no problems with a replacement.
Does unlocking the bootloader on my Mate 10 Pro have any effect on the device as in with LG you get the warning screen on every boot or on Sony devices you lose DRM keys resulting in bad camera quality?, I have no plans to root or install custom ROMs at the moment, but if it will no longer be possible after the 24th then I'd rather do it and have the option, as long as nothing is sacrificed.
Thanks for any feedback
Thx all for the answers. Till when u can get unlock code? Any link for the correct site?
Mate the 10 pro be with you
