The xperia s has the shatterproof sheet pre-applied. This seems to somewhat receptive to scratches.
What exactly is the purpose of this sheet? Is it to strengthen the screen, so it won't break so easily if you drop the phone. Or is it just to hold the glass together when it breaks?
If I want to apply a screen protector like a martin fields or brando ultra clear, should I apply if over the shatterproof sheet, or should I remove the shatterproof sheet?

It's there to help protect your display from from getting scratched, damaged etc. If you're thinking of getting your own screen protector, i would certainly remove the shatterproof sheet before putting on your new one. If you dont, the screen MAY end up less responsive.
I am in the exact same boat. I got my phone last night, been playing with it at work and literally 5 minutes ago I noticed that it already has a sheet on the screen?
But last night after picking up the phone I immediately bought a screen protector on eBay.
Should I keep the sheet on the phone now until its worn and scratched and then replace with the ones I have got on eBay?

Yeah I would just keep the original on, and when it's worn out, put a new one on.
I think I'm gonna do that as well. Just keep it the way it is, until it starts to annoy me. Then I'll take it off and stick a new one on there.
I wouldn't recommend taking it off. I did it on my Play and once the screen gets greasy, some random touches start appearing by just blowing at the screen, so you often have to clean it.
I'm getting an XPs soon ...by for now I have my old desire ... never fitted a screen protector etc...
How many scratches have I got?? None...
Do I have to clean the screen ?.. Yes...
The XPs has strong glass ( gorillia glass MK2 ) sure your get smudges etc, but that adds to the charm !
As long as you have a good lint free cloth you should be fine !!

The Xperia S doesn't have gorilla glass, it has glass scratch resistance
Has anyone actually removed the pre applied screen protector? Does it change the feel of the screen?
Hi,
I've just received my tablet Z and manged to scratch the screen! Is there a way to reduce scratch depth on the original screen protector (a kind of polishing). I'd like to avoid to remove the screen protector but if I have to do it, is there a good tutorial (not the one for the Xperia Z phone)? Is anybody already remove the original screen protector?
Thanks
If it's just the screen protector, what's the big deal? Buy a new one and replace or let it replace in a shop with the new one. But if it's a scratch on the digitizer itself, you can use display polish to minimize the scratch but not fully remove it. Or fully replace the digitizer but I'm afraid this will break the watertight seal.

yes it's the screen protector but I'd like to keep it (i'm not sure to find one that is as good as sony's original).

There was a discussion a few months ago in the Sony Tablet S forum about removing the tablet's factory-installed screen protector. Most everyone described themselves picking at a corner of the protector (some used a straight pin) until enough of it was lifted so it could be grabbed and then slowly peeled off. Several people said they were not going to replace the protector because the screen image looked much better without the protector. Others installed a new protector.
Afternoon Guys,
Anyone got any opinions/reviews on this tempered glass screen protector for our beloved Z Ultra ?

thats a screen protector for the regular xperia z. its misleading in the title as the name of the glass is ultra glass. lol i know armorz is supposed to be coming out with one but they havent replenished stock yet. the armorz one is a bit pricey though. you could also find plenty of them on ebay for pretty cheap. i had planned on getting a tempered glass screen protector, but purchased a warranty instead.
I have the glass-m.
It's really good, easily the best protector I"ve used for the Ultra (the gearmaxx being the worst, then another plastic one which was much better).
Very few fingerprints, hardly ever need to clean it...
Looks very nice. Feels great.
At first it felt like I lost some screen sensitivity, but now I'm not so sure...
I too own a Glass-M on my S4, great screen protector! Feels a thousand times better then the shatterproof sheet. (Even a generic plastic screen protector i have on the ZU is better anyway)
My choice, for Ultra:-
(1) Armorz Stealth Extreme R Tempered Glass:
Pros - round edges
Cons - 0.4mm thickness
(2) SGP GLAS.t Slim Tempered Glass:
Pros - 0.26mm thickness
Cons - sharp edges / not available yet
I am tempted to go for the Glass-M one for $31.50.

I still have the easy peel-off screen film on my Z Ultra....do I simply peel them off then apply the Glass-M ?
What is the shatterproof cover I hear people talking about ?
Thanks guys

Easy peel off... Dude you need too read more...
That shatter proof cover is the original screen protector and it's a pain in the ass to remove.

I bought my on ebay from china it have not got it yet. Maybe I will get it today. It has been at least 15 days.
I bought a tempered glass protector off eBay (from China) as well. It arrived cracked. I contacted the seller, and they sent me a replacement. It took 17 days to arrive, and when I opened the package, it too was cracked! I'm now going to try my luck with the the Glass-M. I'm dying to use a pen/pencil on this thing but wont until I put a tempered glass screen protector on...
I'm a little irritated by how quickly Note 3 accessories became available - including tempered glass protectors. Seems like most of the big names (spigen?) wont be making tempered glass for the ZU....
do you need to remove the standard shatterproof film on the ultra to apply this glass-m protector? In some cases, Sony voids warranty upon removal of this layer.
Has anyone added the glass-m on top of the layer, and does it affect touch sensitivity? certain screen protectors make the screen go crazy, registering random touches.
very interested in the glass-m, but would like to clear up some quesitons first

Unless you remove it, it's applying a tempered glass protector on top of a plastic glass reinforced protector. So you can imagine how the touch would like that combo...
As stated. Removing the shatterproof protection is a pain. But it is totally worth it. I've never had this level of protection and comfort at the same time on any mobile device before.

Touch is not affected by the tempered glass. Using it with a pencil or any metal object registers as if nothing is on top of the screen. I'll post the photo of the brand of my tempered glass.as I forgot already.

Hopefully that will not happen to me.
Just ordered the Glass-M from here http://theglass-m.com/collections/f...-glass-screen-protector-for-sony-xperia-ultra
Hopefully all goes well and I will receive my order in pristine condition. I need this cause I just realize that there is a deep scratch on the generic screen protector that I bought from the telco.
Finally got my Glass-M. the size is smaller than the screen so its not difficult to align with your device. There is a problem with it though, the edges of the glass-m doesnt seem to stick to the device properly. I have it under a hardbound book right now in hopes of make it stick properly.
did you put it on top of your stock screen protector? or took it out?

Any updates? Did you remove the factory protector?
Thanks!
Removed it. Can't stand it not sticking properly and also making the device less sensitive especially on fps games. I originally placed it on top of the ASF. Now I'm just waiting for my screen to be scratched then I'll remove the ASF to finally touch the glass o this phone.

On mobile....
Sounds like glass4m does not have together...
I ordered the front protector for my Z Ultra, they sent me the back. Almost 3 months have passed and they have replied once to my mails but have not corrected the issue.
Watch out, having an issue after the purchase may just leave you in the cold.

Hi! My LG G5 device is 2 month old and already the screen protection is starting to peel off! Is this normal and is this kind of damage covered by waranty?
What screen protection are you referring to, the actual screen or you have a screen protector on it. Tempered glass or other. If this is the case just get a new screen protector and apply it, some do come off over time and others last longer. Depending on which you buy they are relatively not that expensive, warranty for the screen protector maybe depends on which product it is.
I would say the standard screen protector comes on as a service and is not applicable for warranty. Two months does sound quite fast, I think mine lasted four months.
I'm talking about Gorilla Glass protection that comes with the device.

The Gorilla Glass screen on the G5 shouldn't delaminate as you described in your original post. Are you sure that what you're seeing coming off isn't just that film that comes on the display for protection during manufacturing and shipping? The guy at Best Buy peeled mine off as he was setting it up. That film is meant to come off, and then at your discretion, you can add an aftermarket screen protector or go without. I use an Otterbox Commuter case and chose to go without screen protection. I carry no keys or coins in my pocket and my phone screen looks fine after 4 months.

Just a piece of advice...
Nano glass is BS
Yes it is. It's not glass it's just a fancy name for screen protector film..
I received two pieces and used the second one my mom's Redmi 4a.
So I kind of like it as there is no gaps on the edges but the screen is not fully covered by it. The edge is not that visible in daily use so there's that....
Kind of mixed review here. Buy it on your own risk....

Since I've already burned my fingers, here is my story..
I purchased this tempered glass from Amazon based on positive reviews it received : https://www.amazon.in/Annure%C2%AE-Tempered-Glass-Screen-Protector/dp/B07CF4CMH7/ref=pd_sim_107_4?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=GBYV8AP8CSG8Y07B4CFC
I managed to apply the cover without a single bubble but since the since edges were not curved, it remained unfasten across vertical edges & after few days air gaps were filled with dust.
So I went to several phone galleries for a new one where the glasses were either not precised or tad expensive. Later I found a cheap one in a shop (Rs. 250/-) which when applied did not even stick properly to almost 25% of screen & when I told the shopkeeper to reply my old one it already attracted lots of dust so I didn't pay anything but my old glass.
Later in one shop, the shopkeeper suggested me to go for a thin screen guard which was worth Rs 400/- which is my current screen protection. Adhesive is just superb, cause when the device gets warm it sort of looses it's grip across curve (if cover is not curved) & though mine faces the same issue it either sticks automatically or by pressing once device temp goes normal & so far not a single scratch/dust (I travel in dust prone region).
The only cons is that it leaves less than 1 mm display unprotected across vertical edges but I can't complain much since the screen of this device has immediate curve at the end of display & almost 90% of currently available protectors are without precised curve.
So the conclusion is, unless you can find tempered glass with perfect & precised curves go for thin screen guard at least for now since the device is relatively new.

It was a good experience for me. Some bubbles happen while installing but bgo away in a day or 2.
Any reliable tempered glass? Can someone suggest one?
Please suggest a durable tempered glass for Nokia 7 plus in India. I don't have a problem if the edges are not covered completely or left uncovered an mm or two, since in curved edges phones it is really difficult to protect the edges from bubbles.
Like some other people already said, since Nokia 7 plus is relatively new, there is no good tempered glass available as of now. But I can suggest you a good screen protector which will protect your screen from getting scratched (ofcourse it cant protect the screen from getting cracked).

GadgetShieldz is a well-known brand for their quality products. There are plenty of videos on YouTube praising GadgetShieldz screen protectors. Although the price is a bit high, but it's worth every single penny.
