Our device is L3. I'd like to know if it is possible to get Netflix in HD being a root user.

I've read that you can't use the native Netflix app on the tablet if your nook is rooted. Is this true? I have a nook tablet on the way and have always rooted my android devices. If its rooted do you lose the HD functionality of Netflix? I know you can play through browser or through the market app but I want it to play from the well received stock nook app. Any help is appreciated

Use OTA Rootkeeper and temporarily unroot before launching the stock Netflix app.
First, you do not lose the ability to use the Native App.
Second, there is no HD playback, given that the screen isn't capable of HD playback. If you want to know if any resolution is lost in playback, if your device is rooted, then the answer is no.
It's technically "streaming in HD" even though our devices have too small of a screen size for it to be noticed, but yes. You keep the functionality of the app with root. I watch Torchwood and How I Met Your Mother all the time on my rooted nook tablet.

Correct, however, the Nook Tablet's 600 lines of resolution are still more than 480p. With the hardware scaling, 720p streams should look a fair amount better than 480p.
Thank you... guess I mixed that up with Amazon vod.

Yep, video works fine on the NT. Amazon Video too (but that will require the OTA Rootkeeper app as the simplest solution).
Ok in this You Tube Video

at about 50 seconds in he talks about an HD version of Netflix that is available to the Stock Nook Ui. He then says on CM7 that this HD version of NETFLIX is not available, just the normal version.
My question is cant we just adb push the HD version of Netflix from the Stock Nook and then sideload the .apk file into CM7?
Is this Netflix HD version available already? If so Where can I get it?
Thanks so much for your help guys.
Alright so as everyone knows, Hulu doesn't allow you to stream when you have a rooted phone, so is there an updated app that has been modified to work with a rooted phone? haven't seen a new version lately, thanks!
Don't think anyone has modified the apk, you could try using the modified flash apk that's supposed to let you stream hulu in browser
Damn, alright. that's like the one down side of being rooted-- no hulu and no google play movies.
Would it be possible to take files from the youtubeHD.apk, and merge it into the newest YouTube version so we can have HD? Our phones don't support HD YouTube, unless somebody mods the apk. How might I do this?
Hi guys,
After I updated to MIUI 13 I noticed that now my phone supports Dolby Vision.
But today when I went to play Netflix, Widevine support vanished.
I've tried reinstalling Netflix and factory resetting my phone.
The app DRM Info detects Widevine L1 but Netflix insists that's Widevine L3.
I've also called Netflix support and they told me there's nothing they can do.
Does anybody know how can I fix this ?
My phone is still running stock, non rooted and locked bootloader.
Thanks for any help
Yes, you're right, but netflix hdr movies were almost unwatchable before. But the question is, if now is only L3, does this mean the streams are not really in Dolby Vision format? Or only the resolution is lower? I suppose Netflix correctly expose the type of stream they are sending to the device (and now indeed they specify Dolby Vision) unlike HBO max for example.
I guess it's still L1 because of DRM Info.
But if I stream something on Netflix it'll look like crap because of the low resolution (SD).
Netflix is playing using L3.
Using Netflix on this phone is hell. If not black crush in crappy looking HDR content, then resolution issues... Just why? Same issue on MIUI 13 stable beta.
Also Dark Mode for individual apps disappeared.
