Can't install OTA on Mate 10 - Huawei Mate 10 Questions & Answers

I could really use some help here. I'm using a Mate 10 regular with the latest version of Pretoriano80's TWRP installed (https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-10/development/huawei-mate-10-pro-twrp-3-2-1-0-t3769904). I am currently on ALP-L29 8.0.0.136 and trying to install the 8.0.0.138 update. But when I tap download and install, the phone reboots to the TWRP terminal but the update fails with:
check_write_data_to_partition,write data error
update_huawei_pkg_from_ota_zip: update package from zip failed.
E:unknown command [errno]
Updater process ended with ERROR: 9
Error installing zip file '/sdcard/HwOUC/151698/update.zip
The phone is rooted with Magisk but I've tried unrooting and even factory resetting the device but still the same problem.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

TWRP can't install update.zip by default.
But you can use Firmware Finder, manually download b138 (update.zip, public and hw data zips for L29)
Then download HuRUpdater: https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-9/development/tool-flash-official-firmware-recovery-t3769279
Go to /sdcard/HWFF/151698/ and place HuRUpdater here (optional: place TWRP named recovery.img here too if you want to flash it else you will get stock recovery).
Then flash HuRUpdater.zip in /sdcard/HWFF/151698/ and it will install update.
After this you have to reflash Magisk as ramdisk is now stock.

Flash back stock recovery_ramdisk. You can get your current firmware from http://pro-teammt.ru/firmware-database/
Download update.zip, extract update.app, download and open Huawei Update Extractor. Open Update Extractor, go to settings and uncheck Header Check. Open Update.app and extract recovery_ramdisk, flash using fastboot
Thanks for hint. However I got error in fastbooot - "partition lenght get error". Any help?

[Guide] OTA update installation on rooted phone

This may be known to many but there are many users who were struggling with this.
Hello Folks,
Was getting few requests on XDA, Telegram and Facebook for this. As title says, there were few users reporting OTA failures while they were rooted with Magisk. Yes, that's obvious, it will fail as you have modified the boot.img (ramdisk) and stock recovery (Recovery_ramdisk.img) while rooting and installing TWRP.
Please follow below steps to update via OTA if you were rooted or using magisk.
Uninstall busybox binaries and Xposed framework (if you are using by any chance)
Uninstall Magisk (inside the app or by flashing the magisk uninstaller via TWRP)
Download update.app of your current firmware and extract stock recovery and boot file via Huawei extractor
Flash stock recovery of your actual variant as fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk recovery.img
Flash stock boot as fastboot flash ramdisk ramdisk.img
Boot to system.
Perform OTA update and reboot.
Root your phone again if you want.
Enjoy.
You could just :
1.patch the new ramdisk's update via magiskmanager then,
2.update via HuRUpdater without removing your root before,
3.then reboot straight to fastboot, and flash your new patched ramdisk
4.reboot to your rooted updated firmware with magisk module still working and root mods still applyied.
PS: I don't know about xposed frameworks

It should be hwouc folder directly under root of internal memory and not data/update/hwouc

If you try to install the incremental OTA zip with TWRP, it will not install. You have to wait to download the full ROM and then flash it.
In case you don't want to wait, dirty flash the current ROM and it will overwrite TWRP with stock recovery. Now you can flash the incremental OTA zip through stock recovery and after setting up the phone, flash TWRP if needed.

EEa(EU) rom 10.3.3.0 update

EEa(EU) rom 10.3.3.0 update
Received it too yesterday and all is ok.
Does anyone know how to flash that update using TWRP? I have rooted my Stock ROM with TWRP, and the Update is downloaded OTA and then reboots to recovery, but TWRP obviously is unable to install it: First it doesn't ask for the password to decrypt the data partition and shows the crypted content of the partition, making it impossible to see or select the downloaded update. A reboot into recovery decrypts the data partition and shows the downloaded Update (as a ZIP) in the folder /downloaded_rom. I tried to install that ZIP from TWRP manually, but to no avail - all you get is an error message.
Edit: Forget the question. Seems the phone healed itself. The first OTA download was an update 10.3.1 to 10.3.3 with a size of around 500 MB, and that couldn't be installed. When the System Updater saw this didn't succeed, it downloaded the complete 10.3.3 Package (2,2 GB) OTA, and installed that via TWRP with no problems whatsoever. I lost Magisk, which i needed to reinstall, but other than that, everything's fine.
Edit 2: The complete package obviously also overwrites TWRP, which i had to reinstall, too.

You will need to flash Magisk immediately after the ROM to stop MIUI restoring stock recovery.

switching from SuperSU to magisk on Redmi note 4x

Hi guys I just rooted( as a newbie) my old redmi note 4x using SuperSU. but I came to know that systemless magisk is really better option and has many amazing modules . then I tried to unroot through SuperSU app 's full unroot option . But it said ' uninstallation failed'
then went to twrp (3.2.3) ,wiped data.. then it became unrooted .afterwards tried to flash magisk v18.0 from twrp .but it failed and showed 'updater process ended with error :1'
So what should be my next procedure ??
Thanks in advance.....
Latest twrp is 3.3.1-0 and Magisk is 20.4, try this

Just tried those latest versions but still the same message ' updater process ended with error :1' .
Is it a miui 11 problem?
If you aks google about twrp error 1 by installing magisk, i found following solution.
Extract with 7-zip the boot.img out of the Custom.zip file and copy it also to Smartphone.
Flash with twrp this boot.img to the boot partition and than try to install magisk.

I have to download the miui.zip and then extract ??
They talk to extract the boot.img from the Custom Rom that you want to install and copy it on your internal memory or sd card.
