Encryption unsuccessful, Samsung Galaxy S3 with TWRP and broken volume button - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, my S3 got an encryption issue today, it tells me to reset the phone, so I clicked it and the phone rebooted to TWRP recovery. Everything seemed to be ok, but I got the mount data issue, after that the phone just reboots and I get the encryption unsuccessful message again. There wouldn't be a problem if the volume up button would work, I could normally access TWRP and try to fix it there. Unfortunately it doesn't work, so I can't boot into recovery mode, and to use adb I guess I'd need to to access the phone, what I'm not able to do due to the encryption failure.
Anybody got a solution how I can boot into recovery mode, or fix the issue on other way?
Thanks in advance.

[Q] Stuck in boot loop, exhausted almost all optons

LG Escape running 4.1.2
here is the progression of events:
1. rooted device
2. root seemed successful and no malfunctions
3. backed up all apps and system data with Titanium backup
4. the lg escape has no way to unlock the bootloader, so I tried various other methods. one of which was entering recovery mode via terminal commands. this is basically a hard reset, and it wiped all my data
5. I restored all my apps and data from my external sd card with titanium
My best guess is this is where something went wrong
6. upon restoration it prompted me to reboot the device
7. reboot passes manufacturer logo, but resets when AT$T logo appears
8. as stated earlier, there is no way to enter recovery mode during boot.
9. there is a hard reset during boot, but mine will not work, as it requires touching buttons which do not seem to be active in my stage of the boot sequence
so, I understand this does NOT mean my phone is bricked, but I don't know how else to get it to boot back up, or what is even causing the boot loop, as I DO NOT HAVE ANY CUSTOM ROMS flashed. any help here is very appreciated!
EDIT: so I have attempted to use adb on my pc to reboot into recovery from there, but it occurred to me that while I was in recovery the first time, I never checked "usb debugging". as a result my adb console commands cant even see my device. any way to turn on usb debugging while locked in a boot loop?
also, I can get it to enter download mode. I was hoping I could just reflash the firmware to it without needing to enable usb debugging, but have no clue how to do that while locked out of the phone.
I realize this is a very specialized set of questions, but it is necessary to ask here as the most people will see it. im open to any ideas

i have now tried to flash the firmware while in download mode using a less than legitimately obtained lg R&D tool. however, i need V10F_00.kdz and i am facing a bit of censorship. any kind soul willing to host this file on dropbox or similar so i can download it?
Usually devices have a button combination to press when powering on to get into different modes. Maybe try searching for the button combination of your phone on Google? Try ' lg escape button recovery ' ?

[Q] Stuck at Samsung splash screen - Need to backup data

The phone was working fine until the battery was empty. I tried to charge it and turn it on, but it's stuck at the Samsung logo splash screen. Holding the power button only restarts the device, so to turn it off I'll have to take the battery out. I don't know how to fix this, and if a factory reset is the only option, I need to backup my data first which I currently don't know how to either (without accessing the OS).
I've got to the Android System Recovery 3e menu and tried clearing cache, which did not help. The option to do a factory reset is also there, but I need to backup my data first, and I don't even know if this will fix the problem.
I'm also able to enter download mode.
When connected to my PC it detects an unknown device named 'samsung_android", and it shows up in adb. I've tried doing a backup through adb, but it wanted me to unlock the screen to accept the backup, which I could not, because I'm stuck at the splash screen.
Is there anything I can do to save my data? Anything through adb? Install root (never done this before)?

Hey mate, can you get into the recovery mode? Try flashing the TWRP recovery and boot by pressing power button + home button + volume up and find an option to mount your USB storage via USB cable and see if your phone's folder tree is available from the Windows Explorer and hopefully you can backup your data by then. Just make sure you have all the drivers ready.
Hope that helps.

Yeah, I can get into recovery mode. But how do I get the TWRP to my phone? Do I have to put it on my external memory card and then load it from there?
And I could only find it for a S2 Exhilarate SGH-i577 device. Does it matter if my phone is a S2 GT-I9100?
I've never rooted my phone earlier. Is a root necessary to flash a ROM?

Correct. Put the TWRP zip on your external and flash it normally via recovery mode such as CWM not the android 3e recovery. Or find an odin flashable zip for yoyr device.
I am very sure there is one for I9100 because I ran into the exact same problem before and managed to figure it out. You just have to search for it can't give you a link because I'm on mobile now.
You need to root your phone in order to install a new recovery such as TWRP/CWM or even flash new kernel and ROM.
Good luck.

[Q] Oppo Neo 5 Softbricked

Hi guys, I really need your help.
I'm new at this rooting stuffs and I tried to root my Oppo Neo 5.
I tried so many softwares like OneClickRoot, FramaRoot, and Kingroot but none seemed to work.
So I resorted to an app called oppo tools
It worked at first but I got really annoyed when my status bar suddenly colored to red when my phone discharges to 15% so I unrooted my phone and rooted back again. I really thought that was going to fix my problem but that's where the bootloop issue started.
I tried to flash some custom recovery zip but it failed since I only have a stock recovery.
But the thing is, I found a guide that says to rename the clockworkrecovery img to PG86IMG.zip.
So I did tried that and as soon as I flashed the zip from my stock recovery, my phone hanged.
I long-pressed the power button to restart and boot into recovery mode but nothing seems to happen.
I'll try to explain a bit more on how it looks when I boot my device.
When it boots normally (I mean not pressing the volume to enter recovery mode) it will only show the logo but when I try to go into recovery mode it will show the logo with a little text on the lower left portion "Recovery Mode"
Before I flashed the PG86IMG.zip, recovery mode was still working and the charging screen when off is working too.
but after I flashed the zip, every time I try to recovery mode the logo shows up with the little text but RECOVERY MODE isn't working. When I charge my phone it automatically boots up and shows the logo and text like it's trying to go recovery mode (I'm just trying to charge? It's going to recovery mode)
I tried using "adb devices" on cmd but it's not detecting any devices.
I'm really out of ideas guys, I know not all people use this model but what would be your suggestion?
A suggestion on how to fix this would really be appreciated :good:
I'm sorry I'm really new at this, please correct me if I did something wrong starting this thread.
@DeepBricked please confirm your problem, Boot-loop and can enter into recovery.

Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't notice.
Lately I can't access the recovery mode but now
I'm currently on Boot-loop and I can enter into recovery.
The ColorOS recovery mode only have limited function that I can mess around.
It only has the apply update, wipe data and cache, reboot, power off and system file verification.
As always I already did wipe the data and cache but nothing happens. Still boot-loop.
What should I do?

You made a soft brick, not to worry flash it with correct stock firmware, if the phone is in warranty than ask them to do flash, this will take approx 10-30min. If it isn't in warranty than you should try it own or else pay some amount and the rest they will do.
Salman.

[HELP] BootLoop Issue

First of all, I don't know where to post this thread. Please redirect me if this thread is not for here thanks.
Hi, Im having serious problem with my Samsung S7 phone. what happen was I was trying to install root on my phone, but my TWRP cant find my Internal storage. so I try to search on youtube how. then I saw repairing/formatting the data to exFat/ext4 or something. I did the steps but it shows error while formatting the data and its still on formatting process so there is no any back buttons or anything to cancel it. It take like 10mins on formatting process that keep showing errors so I did turn off my phone.
After that I turned on my phone. TWRP logo shows up and it stays there. It wont go to the main menu of twrp. I cant even turn off my phone after that. if I do the volume down + power, it will just reset to twrp logo. I cant make it turn off so I can go to download mode or safe mode to factory reset coz it doesnt accept any buttons except if I reset the phone [by pressing volume down+power] which directs me to TWRP logo.
Only way to completely turn off is to drain the battery. If I charge it, it automatically opens and lead to the TWRP logo again at get stuck.

fail to open recovery_cause(No such file or directory)

Hi All
I have samsung A5 2017. When i start my phone it shows no command and it continues to restart after 1 minute.
When i try to open recovery mode i get error "fail to open recovery_cause(No such file or directory)". I have also tried combination of key power and volume up but not getting recovery mode. I think it has been deleted or something else. I am also unable to load firmware.
I also tried to install twrp with odin 3.13 but get error unable to install frp locked.
Please tell me solution how can i get back recovery mode so that i can install firmware.
Please help me for this.
Hey there,
I have a similar issue and I can see your post dates back to 2020. Have you ever found a way?
I'm very curious about solving the issue on mine (I can't reboot at all, can't even access the reboot after getting the "no command" message. If you have any clue on how you accessed reboot mode and can be kind enough to share, this would be really appreciated )
I know this is an old thread, but did you find a solution?
On an unlocked J6, after flashing the stock rom, although I can open recovery, I get the same message. The options I tried (both reboot options, both wipe options, power off) work. I went ahead and installed twrp through odin, which passed, but when I boot into recovery, it boots into samsung recovery (with the same message) and not twrp.
I'm guessing the twrp problem is related to the error message.
