oh Guys Please Helpme Someone give a backup partition!

Files inside /efs are unique. Using someone else's folder, for Bluetooth (example), would make you impersonate another phone and this isn't very legal. You had to make a backup of that folder before touching anything related to the system.

Start by restoring your backed up EFS folder that will fix it .
If you have not backed up
try flashing a stock rom that fails use the search button enough posts on the subject .

[Q] GT-I9300 Missing IMEI and EFS

Hi guys,
I have searched high and low for this issue. I have found a lot of forums on how to fix the problem but none of them pertain to my circumstances. I installed Omega ICS ROM v 13.1 a week or two ago. I then decided to install Omega JB v18. I then upgraded to Omega JB v21 as well. In preparation for the official Samsung JB ROM, I went back to ICS. I started by downgrading to Omega v13.1 ICS followed by stock Samsung ICS ROM I9300XXALE8. A couple of days after doing this, all of a sudden, whilst on a call, I lost signal and then the stop sign icon appeared in the top toolbar. I have no radio, no wifi, no bluetooth and no lock screen & power menu. After all of the reading I have done, I have managed to discover that my EFS has disappeared. I have rooted the phone and installed ES File explorer and have looked inside the EFS folder only to find that it is blank. I did have a Nandbackup but managed to delete it in my attempts to recover my phone (yes I know im stupid but I didnt realise the significance of the backup until I realised what was missing!!). So, no EFS backup. Seemingly nothing in the EFS folder on the phones root. Any help would be greatly appreciated. One thing I did notice, which I am sure is significant in some way, is that when I put Omega JB on it, my sdcard mounted as "sdcard0" or something along those lines. Again, because I am fairly new to the custom ROM world, I didnt realise the significance of this until I had down graded back to ICS.
Please help!!!!
Thanks again.

If you do not have backup of efs folder. You have no chance of getting imei back.
You can go to service centre for rebuilding efs folder.

Flashing any roms can destroy the EFS thats why its always rule one to backup EFS folder . Multiple flashing up down up down increases the risk .
Did not Omega backup your EFS .
You say
have no radio, no wifi, no bluetooth and no lock screen & power menu
Thats not the signs of IMEI corruption as it plays no part in power menu or lockscreen .

I think that S3 has some problem in securing it's EFS folder.
I flashed my S2 with hundred's of roms and never faced this issue.
Secondly in my experience lock screen and power menu is efs folder issue.

A reminder about 2 things:
1) swapping/changing/etc IMEI's is illegal
2) giving someone else your EFS folder wont work, your phone will just default to the generic IMEI which is normally no better.

Send me your efs partition backup using efs backup pro. I'll tell you if something can be done or not to restore your data.

Hey. This is one of the things I had read about and tried and it came back with nothing. I don't recall the error message but I think it said it couldn't find the partition or folder or something. I am certain that it has to do with Omega Jb and the fact that it installed and mounted sdcard as sdcard0 and somehow, when going back to omega ics, this has occurred. Another thing I have just now remembered is that I had also setup a swap partition on my ext sdcard and had it mounted. This was all working fine for a few days though so I don't see how that caused it. Was really odd. Anyways, thanks for all the help, but I am going to pay for it to be repaired.

Lost IMEI and efs folder R/O

Hi guys I'm having a strange problem with my sister's galaxy s2. For the second time she lost her IMEI without any reason (no flash ecc just turned off the phone and no IMEI when turned on). The last time I've been able to restore it and I made all the backups using efs pro, But this time when I try to restore it the procedure goes well but the imei is still missing. I tried to restore it manually and I discovered that for some reason the EFS folder is blocked on READ ONLY and I can't switch it in R/W. This problem is preventing me to restore the IMEI and I can't find any similar case on google. Can someone helps me with it?
Thank you a lot

Sure the phone is rooted. My situation is very strage. If I enter the EFS folder with root explorer and I click on "Convert to R/W" the folder remains R/O. Also if I try to cancel any file (or rename or move) in EFS folder nothing happes (that probabbly is what prevents EFS PRO from working). Is there any way to force that folder to be read/write or to cancel it? Maybe using adb shell from the pc?

Eheh of course I already done it about one year ago! The problem was my blocked EFS folder but now I know how to fix it if it happens again :good:
People seem to have problems whenever they use EFS Pro. People should use kTool; seems to almost always restore without any problems.

Help needed : Emergency calls only

hi All,
On my Samsung galaxy S3 i9300, when I install Omega ROM it works fine, but when I install UltimaRom it always corrupt my IMEI and and I m left with Emergency calls only. I took efs backup with backup/restore tool as well. When I restored the efs backup from restore option, the files were pushed to my phone successfully but still I'm having Emergency calls only.
Please guide what to do, as I had tried atleast 20 times all options but nothing helped to restore the efs img file.
Also when I again go to recovery and install Omega Rom then it works fine and sim is recognised.
Please let me know if I install UltimaRom overwriting Omega Rom (without wipe/factory data reset)... will I get the network on my sim ?
please someone help

If you have a backup of your EFS partition, yes. You can use ADB and push the *.img file to your handset. Short of that, there really isn't a way to do it with ODIN or with ADB. If you don't have a backup of your EFS partition, you're pretty well screwed.

Diferent phone the galaxy ace. The efs partition is hidden (stl5 mountpoint), and that's a good thing because you can mess it up by making it vissible and/or attempting to copy it (you have to be EXTRA careful with your adb kung fu so you don't screw it up).
The upside is that it practically can't be accidentally ruined during a rom or other random flash, unlike its galaxy s2 and s3 cousins.

I mean hidden not like windows. The partition that holds efs files is not accesible unless you mount it to a specific directory. Not even root explorer and show hidden files will help you find it.
Use google, use the galaxy ace forum right her in xda if you need more details. Its the stl5 mountpoint, and not recommended to try and access it.
