Hi there,
I recently bought an external mic for my Honor 9.
Ever since I got this phone a year ago I've tried many well-known apps for recording video. However, I decided to stick with the stock app as it's able to take full advantage of the dual camera setup. The only app able to get a similar (but still not as good) performance to the stock app was Cinema FV-5.
When I recently purchased my new mic I realised I can't use it with the stock app, as it only records audio from the device's internal microphone.
Is there anything that can be done to make the stock app record audio from the external microphone?
Btw I have contacted Honor but I'll have to wait some days to get an answer.
My phone's model is STF-L09 and I'm running on Android 8.0.0.368 (C432).

Hello,
Recently got my hands on a secondhand SGS2 and it seemed to work perfectly, except for the following;
There is no audio when recording a video or using the memorecorder! The mic seems to work fine since I have no problems with calling people, they can hear me just fine.
This was all with the stock ROM (4.1.2), so I thought it might be a software problem, rooted the phone and installed CM10.1. Still the same problem! So I went back to the stock ROM and while playing with the FM radio I noticed that when I press the record button in the FM radio there is no audio in the recorded file either!? I also tried playing the files back on my PC.
So to me, it seems like it's an encoder problem (is that even possible?).
I've also installed an app called igCamera to tried and change the mic options / encoding but that didn't make a difference either.
Any ideas on where to go from here? Anything else I can test?
Thanks!

I bought it from my sister-in-law for an extremely low price, so returning it is no option Besides, since I can make calls the hardware seems to be ok. Or is there another mic used when recording video?
Anyone? I've tried various testprogram's to test the microphone but they none of them can detect any sound! From what I understand the SGS2 has 2 microphones, can someone tell me if the second mic is only used for noisecancellation, or is it also used to record audio? If the same mic is used to make calls as for recording video then it must be a software problem I guess, but I have no clue how to solve this.. :silly:
Hi,
I'm having very interesting problem - I have smartphone Lenovo P770 with Android 4.1 in it. It runs on official chinese ROM remade by Etotalk.com.
Everything was working fine, but few days ago, internal memory was full, so I moved some downloaded apps (games) from internal storage to SD card.
The day after this microphone got somehow broken - when I call someone, they can't hear me (they actually do, but very very poorly(= very quietly)). When I switch to handsfree, they hear me OK. Also, I'm using Bluetooth headset very often and people can hear me good. Only when I call normally, people can't hear anything.
This is weird, because all moved apps were downloaded, none was built-in. Also, when I record a video, sound is without a problem.
I tried
cleaning the microphone
turning volume of microphone up/down
moving all apps back to internal storage
factory reset
none of this worked. Did someone experience similar problem? Or does anybody know how to resolve it?
Any help is appreciated
Hi,
I'm having the same problem.
I have smartphone Lenovo P770 with Android 4.1 in it. It runs on official chinese ROM.
My Phone is rooted so, I returned a cell phone in the initial factory setting.
Now I can record sound and can be heard. Even the radio can listen without headphones.
But still the phone calls not working microphone and speaker.
Hi,
Maybe its hardware related..just flash the stock official rom for your phone, then try to request help from service centre..

Can someone please help me, I am currently attempting Twitch streaming from my tablet using Screen Stream Mirroring and I finally decided to get internal audio working correctly now I have another issue.
I am trying to play my external microphone through internal speakers in order to have my voice active on the stream which I managed successfully using some mic to speaker apps however these did not stay active when leaving the app. So first question would be, can anyone recommend a way to have this more permanent?
Second question is a bug really, whenever I use an external microphone my internal microphone will not disable at all leading to annoying tapping sounds through stream. It's definitely internal mic as I tested it myself by sealing up my external mic when plugged in and tapping on screen fairly lightly like a metre away and the sound was clear as day.
I am currently using a Sony xperia z tablet on official firmware 4.4.4 with root access. Any help would be appreciated as this issue has me stumped.
After being informed that my Note 3 requires TRRS for video, I am still unable to get any video camera to use the external microphone on my device.
I used 3 different Lavalier Mics that use TRRS.
1. Rode SmartLav+
2. ATR3350IS Omni Lavalier Microphone for Smartphones
3. Miracle Sound Deluxe Lavalier Microphone
When using the stock Android video camera, it clearly doesn't detect that an external mic has been plugged in. I also tried this using the Wondershare PowerCam app, and the CameraMX app.
First Test.
I made videos using the internal mic and compared it to when I plugged in the external mic. They sounded the same.
Second Test
I ran the tests again using the lav mics, but after I hit record, I laid the phone inside a shoebox and put the lid on it. It sounded muffled and nearly inaudible like someone who dropped a recorder inside a shoe box and tried to make a recording. LOL. I laugh to keep from poking my eyes out.
Third Test
I installed Rec Forge Lite and Rec Forge II. Plugged in each lav mic, hit record, stuck the phone inside my sock drawer and closed it. Perfect recording!
Question
Does CM12 have an issue where video cameras are unable to switch over to the external microphone?
Hi,
I switched from Pocophone F1 to Xiaomi Mi-9. With Poco F1 I used external microphone (RODE VideoMicro) for shooting videos and it worked flawlessly. But on Mi-9 I does not work. I am using the original USB-C to 3,5 mm jack cable adapter that came with the phone. Any suggestions will be appreciated.
Thanks.
What camera app are you using? Unless using direct USB-C mic, MIUI camera never picks up external microphone for me. I ended up using open camera or other 3rd party camera app if I want to use external mic. Funny enough, MIUI sound recorder app can use external mic flawlessly regardless of connector.

It does not work with MIUI camera on Mi-9 but it worked with Pocophone F1 MIUI camera. I tried installing Open camera but it does not work either on Mi-9 for me. I can confirm it works with MIUI sound recorder! I never thought that for that money for Mi-9 I will not be able to use my external microphone especially when it worked with Pocophone. RODE mic wasn't that cheap to throw it away and buy another USB-C mic. I will try another camera app.

Update:
I tested more camera apps that are supposed to work with external mic with the same results (OpenCamera, CameraMX). I tried them with both Mi-9 and PocophoneF1. Sound recording works with Pocophone but never with Mi-9. The camera apps on Mi-9 record the sound from external mic only when the mic is close to mouth but it is not the way it is supposed to work like. It should record sound from 2-5 metres. PocophoneF1 does the job well. I am very dissapointed with Mi-9 performance and will swith back to PocophoneF1, just need 128GB as the memory was the main reason for me to change phones. My old Pocophone was only 64GB.

As i understand from you external mic works, but it works in mod that you can comment you video through it and not record everything around It's looks like some settings is missing.
