S9 OEM Unlock - Factory Reset - Samsung Galaxy S9+ Questions & Answers

Finally, after 7 days the OEM option became available, but when I enable it forces me to reset to factory
"If OEM unlock is turned on, your phone will be reset to its factory default setting after you restart it...."
So I enable it and it reset the phone to factory setting and now again the OEM unlock is not there...
Any idea what should I do? to enable the OEM without factory reset?

you need to factory reset though as it reboots go to download mode and install TWRP and custom rom. otherwise you have to wait another 168 hours

same issue
i got same problem here, after format it doesnt show oem unlock option anymore, and it already been 4days passed so i need to wait for another 3days to unlock oem without format? can i install twrp and custom rom right now

What? Seriously? This is f*cking insane...
So, as it restarts I have to quickly force it into download mode to complete the process?
This is bananas.

Yup that's right. I went through 2 lots of 168 hours. Though now all good
Check out the twrp thread and it lists all the steps

Haven't read twrp docs, thanks for that.

Just wanted to share:
Overnight I hit my second 168 hours. I work day hours, so haven't had time to try anything yet. However, I popped into Dev Settings and OEM Unlock is not only available, but also checked with the message "Bootloader is already unlocked."
Okay, so when the automatic reset happened, it kept OEM unlock; however, RMM was still "Prenormal" so didn't show in Dev Settings. I am confused by the bootloader being unlocked message, because the Heimdall commands didn't work when I tried them last week to install TWRP (I was using the instruction on LineageOS's website).
Very interesting. I'll report the full outcome back after I get some work done this weekend.

No issues really. Followed LineageOS instructions on their site. I just had to add the BRE5 file and the fix by BlackMesa123.

[Advice/Tip's] Unlocking BL/Flashing recovery/1rst custom ROM [Redmi 3S]

From my hard time unlocking Bootloader and flashing recovery until first custom ROM of 3s, I'll share some advice
- If stuck on 50% at BL unlock, >use chinese dev rom (I used this: "land_images_V7.5.1.0.MALCNDE_20160629.0000.25_6.0_cn">MiFlash has different names but it's all the same program, and if you wanna flash something, you have to run the .bat of the extracted ROM first! >And then start the MiFlash Prog. >sign into your MI account at the dev rom in your phone >activate 'find device' and all other account options there which you can tick there at login >stop account sync of the rom and start it again >go to i.miui.com and sign in >RETRY
Custom Recovery & custom ROM
- Flashing the Chinese TWRP will cause bootloop to the dev rom ! And you likely cannot boot into recovery by just a button combo, so just reboot the recovery >using recovery< once, after you had confirmed to make changes on system (at startup of recovery) >> And keep your ROM plus Gapps on your SDCARD as you cannot access the recovery easily, if not by >fastboot reflash< or working ROM (using 'reboot recovery' in it, later) ! Do not flash Gapps after you booted the ROM already, as this will cause Gapps to fail!
Enjoy~

you must use this exact rom, at least this was the one i was using. and there is a guide where it says how to flash it with miflash but i lost the link. "land_images_V7.5.1.0.MALCNDE_20160629.0000.25_6.0_cn_e5777810ad" from en.miui.com
and yes, afaik you do have to flash this rom with miflash that's mandatory. chinese dev rom is must.
HOnest Solution...
Honest Solution..
If you got Permission for unlocking just wait for 6 to 10 days after getting the permission..
No matter which rom u are on..
You will unlock successfully.. Just follow the process of i.mi.com.
Well i was also facing the same issue, what really helped me here is,
1. Removed MI Account after getting unlocking permissions,
2. Re-Added MI Account by using the mobile no. (Logging in using Mobile no. is mandatory)
3. Located the phone from i.mi.com (find device option)
4. Switched off the phone and booted into fastboot mode.
5. Opened MI Unlock and logged in here from Mobile No. and unlocked.
Got success.

Sad to hear, try starting the unlock app and go offline with ur computer, and tell me if this works. this is trick of a friend
Ill try thanks
unlocked boot loader successfully . I got code week ago and i had same problem stopped at 50%.
Finally i decided to install Chinese developer rom but for last time i thought let me try unlocking again with global rom. Fortunately it was a success.
Suggestion:
- allow unlock bootloader option in developer setting.
-when ever u try unlocking.Try login with phone number ,email id and mi account code.(three try every day)
-do the same with three acc in i.mi.com(locate your phone.)
-remove finger print security.(remove security)
-And have some patients. It will get unlocked when xiomi update their database.
-i got two different codes with my email id and phone no. I don't know why i have only one account in mi.com.But if it shows u"u need to apply for unlock code "again then get it.
really frustating.
I was really surprised that I got the permission for unlocking the bootloader just 30 min after applying for request. But got stuck at 50%. Tried all solutions. I'm getting that "Current account is different from the account info on the device". Somebody please help. It's already two weeks since I got the permission. Also tried internet on/off method but no use.

1. Try removing other devices from your Mi Account for the moment, add them later if you want.
2. It takes a week or so to update your information on the Indian Xiaomi servers.
3. Make sure you're using the same account in which you got the permissions to unlock and the same account is logged-in in your Mi Account app.
4. Enable Developer options and tick "Allow OEM unlock"
Personally, I waited for 6 days after getting permissions. I was also getting stuck at 50% with a few error messages but after waiting, the unlock was successful.
I had tried a lot of things that included, switching internet on/off, factory resetting MIUI, trying multiple times, reinstalling drivers, maybe I flashed the fastboot ROM too, a few times. But after all of that, few guys suggested me to wait for a week or so, so that my device's information may be updated with my account, I did that and got it unlocked after a couple of days without any problem.

S9 OEM Unlock - Factory Reset

Hey,
I just wanted to inform you guys that switching on the OEM Unlock will force a factory reset after the next reboot (Security Integrity Check). So do it rather sooner then later, before you have to setup all again.
Update:
I took the time and tested it on ARC5, you can see the results on the attached image.
PS: Deactivating the OEM Unlock results in the same situation -> Factory Reset.
Tested and confirmed :good:

Exynos or Snapdragon ?
Exynos.
I would expect the SD to act the same, as its a Knox related thing.

Boot into Download mode - see if it says "Pre-Normal" - if so, you will have to wait 7 days before you can use OEM unlock - if it does say Pre-Normal, you are locked from flashing anything until it does show OEM unlock. This will happen in 7 days - if we have twrp by then and you plan to flash twrp - you will need to get the RMM State Fix and flash that immediately after flashing TWRP. You can find the RMM FIX here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=75360965&postcount=22
The "Pre-Normal" thing is a known thing for S8/S8Plus and Note 8 Phones and at least for now, will be something many of us will have to deal with from now on.

Then you already know what to do - for what it's worth, I went thru this on my S8 Plus - contrary to what some have said, you can turn the phone off - doesn't effect your time in jail at all - you just need to keep data enabled while the phone is on -- and not take out the sim card.
good luck to you my friend.

You did reboot the phone after enabling OEM Unlock?
This is the time, when Integrity check fails and you need to factory reset. And yes, that is completely new for Samsung and at the moment only on the S9/S9+

Can't get the miss OEM unlocking option back on G965F

Sorry about post a new thread about this again, but my situation seems a little weird.
I got an S9+, from Australia Optus (but I'm in China), with the latest firmware, trying to get the missing "oem unlocking" option back but failed.
In download mode, both OEM and frp is off , RMM state: prenormal.
My procedure is:
1. Reset the phone without SIM card.
2. After finishing the whole setup and get into the destop, I plug in the sim card. (but didn't login google or samsung account, because I can't connect to google service. So if I want to get through the setup, I can't plug in the sim card or connect to Wifi.)
3. Then I connect wifi and login in samsung account to restore my backup.
4. Open Developer Options.
5. Wait 7 days. (the uptime is over 168 hrs, even over 300 hrs)
6. the "oem unlocking" is still missing .
Or the phone must online "the whole" 7 days?
Because sometimes the phone will lose the network in subway.
And the swiching between network and wifi won't make a difference, right?
I've already consult the Australia samsung customer-service, can't help me online. And the Samsung Centre in China didn't have the access to fix an S9+ sold in Australia.
Hope somebody can help me to fix this, I want to install a third party ROM.
You have to reset your device while the sim card is in the device , then in the setup you have to log in to your both google and samsung accounts , then wait 7 days , and it should appear , if it doesnt appearing simply use google to check how to fix the missing OEM Unlock option

You should flash the original fw (mine is optus) and leave the phone without a sim inside, connected to wifi, on all the time. Plugging the chinese sim might not unlock it.

Im in the same boat as you. Got to wait 7 more days(168 hours up time.)
But is there any guarantee that same thing will not repeat again..
nope. i got to wait because of the guide not being clear. after i have read the users guides i understood it better that i needed to enter odin mode as i pressed factory reset. whish it was more "clear" in the guide rather then saying some confusing things. i would just type it like;
1- toggle oem unlock, it will ask to factory reset. accept it and as you press factory reset, reboot to odin mode immediately.
this could make so many people's life easier. sad story is bootloader is unlocked, just gotta wait for rmm to settle at normal. no one knows how much time it is going to take. my guess is another 7 days. if we did boot to odin in time we wouldnt wait another 7 days. in oreo i couldnt see oem unlock even that bootloader was unlocked, im on pie beta ZRKN and i can see oem unlock option and it is toggled on. currently im at 20 hours of uptime, if we count other 2-3 days with reboots i would be at around 90 hours of usage. many people say that no need for 168 hours uptime and can reboot or power off. others say we must wait 168 hours. when i had note 8 i rebooted my device many times and oem unlock was there after 168 hours. i hope it is the same for s9+. then i discovered that date and time trick and it worked for my note 8. wish it would work for s9+.
long story in short; nothing else to do for rightnow. gotta wait 1 week. i will keep my device on for 168hours cause i dont want to risk those other rebooted days just incase. it is always better to wait 3 more days rather than waiting another 7 days. so next friday evening i will reboot to odin.
also it would be more clear if other users who had this problem shared their experiences..

Uptime should be equal to 7days... then oem unlock option will appear but ...... I want another solution date change and WiFi connect is not solution ... If any body knows any other solution please guide me ... I'll be very thankful.....
@ladlabaloch512
Perhaps your device has the same "OEM unlock" block like mine.
On mine I was supposed to wait 7d after turning on dev options.
I bypassed that by
1. switching to airplane mode
2. Setting manually date back one month
3. Restart (still in airplane mode)
4. Turning off airplane mode and let it sync date
and voila OEM unlock option was there.
Perhaps that works on your device as well.

Keep us updated.. I'd like to get my OEM unlock to come out of hiding.. this is frustrsting.. i see all these tutorials for the A02s root, twrp and ROMs and whatnot and I'm itching to get flashing!
Is it possible to flash an unlocked carrier firmware in ODIN and then be able to unlock OEM? Without carrier issues or anything? I'm a little nervous to be the first to try.. and not sure where to find US unlocked carrier firmware or if location even matters... I have the SM-A025AZ (US Cricket variant).. I guess as long as Download Mode (fastboot) is still accessible I could just flash the Cricket version back to the device.. bricked my LG-E980 back in the day.. took me a few months how to get it back up and running with LG flash tool.. i just dont want to repeat that fiasco lol... so anybody got any updates on hacking this OEM (un)lock bs??? Or any idea on flashing some other variant to the device without interrupting carrier stuff??.. seems like alot just to get a damn virtual switch to turn on.. but damnit I need root access! Lol.. about to just exchange this phone for an actual rootable phone.. i disagree with charging for hotspot.. that should be illegal.. getting charged twice to use th same bs internet.. eff that.. i just want Rooooooot!!!
Hello,
I have also been having these troubles, with no way to unlock oem after stock flash, and the closest I've got to finding a solution was this, but I simply cannot find samsung's bootloader unlocking form like it says in the guide. I bought my phone just for a bootloader unlockable version (A025M), and now I am very angry at samsung.
also, since over a 1000 hours have gone by since last post, have any one of you solved this issue just by waiting?

its not only samsung that does this, many other companies like motorola does this. Dont be angry, just try a different device. Also, snapdragon US models (i dont think) arent able to be unlocked. If its a mediatek model and isnt sim/carrier locked, u can try MTKClient
