Looking for creative ways to get Hulu on my tv.
I am open to ANY suggestion, but to keep it relevant to this section I need to know methods involving either the Vibrant or Android also.
Thanks!
Do you prefer free or paid? There's alot of paid options, but there are free options as well.
Whatever method works... Ha

Do you have like a Blu-Ray player? you know the ones with Netflix etc? Or a PS3/Xbox?
best option and its very easy!! if u have a pc just download playon its a media server. So if u have a wd media player or a wii, 360 or ps3 then log onto the media server on any of those, it supports many other devices too. U can watch netflix or hulu or many many other channels on there.
theres a android app too

pc
http://www.playon.tv/playon
very easy and simple and once u get the android app u can watch netflix or hulu from ur playon on ur phone over 3g or wifi. Works great thats how i do it.
wow, I had heard playon, but did NOT realize it was on Android.
Can I then use TV out to my tv, from my vibrant? I mean, it gets wifi.. if the signal is good for the server, seems like that would work. Phone has flash.. hulu work on our phones?
hulu works on some phones but it works on all phones through playon i think. i know i get hulu and netflix very easily.
Alright, sounds like my Vibrant + PlayOn is the way to go.
Any other options that I am missing though?
3 months ago we canceled comcast services and picked up at&t u_verse Internet (tv not in our area yet) and the Roku HD box. Netflix/Amazon/hulu+ and lots more. Our kids use wii's for netflix. It's a switch not having regular tv but we really don't miss it, I prefer it this way.

Looking For Every thing else.
So you've got a Q, and you've learned how to adb install apps to it... maybe even put a launcher on. But if you've got an NFC capable phone/tablet, you need not mess around with a launcher: your device will be your launcher.
As most of you probably know, the Q ships with a fully capable NFC radio. But for whatever reason, google only ever gave it one official function... beaming out a link the the Q App in the Play Store. Even if you already have it installed. They could have just as easily used a tag to do that job. But I've discovered that if you're running a sideloaded app, the Q will beam that app to your phone. Clearly, we're dealing with a fully beam-compatible device.
However, the Q is programmed to automatically push it's beam out when it finds a device that can receive it. To overcome this, you must open settings (either via a launcher or via adb shell, this is well-documented) and go to the "more" menu. Turn Android Beam OFF while leaving NFC on. This allows the Q to still read your incoming beams (they act just like tags, for compatibility) but it stop apps from opening unexpectedly on your phone.
Once you've done that, you can open any app installed on your Q simply by opening it on your phone/tablet and beaming it over. You'll still need a mouse or keyboard to navigate, but you won't have to futz around with getting to the launcher. This is working on my unrooted Q.
(I don't think this has been discussed before. I hope someone finds it useful!)
Thanks for the info, I was actually wondering whether this was available on the stock firmware. When you say you still need to launch/control with OTG, do things like Youtube links not autoplay when Beamed?

This basically opens the app like an android app on the Q. To click on things you need a mouse and an otg cable.

Animal24 has it right. And yes, it's available stock and unrooted. If you send a video to the Q, it will still work. However, when the video stops, it will return to the open app, not the standard home screen. If I recall correctly, music will play in the background if an app is open, and the lights will not dance.
That all said, I haven't used the Q since the new music lauched. :/

With CM10.1 and XBMC, I'm planning on using the Q to replace my Revue. I'm all OTA so I don't have a cablebox for the Revue to interface with, and with Aptoide I'm going to see if I can get the new Primetime working on the Q for finding and watching shows from Netflix/etc. Hopefully some year Primetime will do generic Amazon links instead of the GoogleTV apps. I'm using the new Play Music on my Q and using my phone as a remote. I've discovered that I can't seem to beam from the new Play Music to another device, or at least when I do it won't autoplay.

How are you doing this? ATM, I'm using BubbleUpNp from both sides, Q and phone. This allows me to still use Google Music as well as All Access. If there is a way to get the stock aplication to work in any way, please share

Hi FadedLite,
I'm using DroidMote to use my phone as a remote to the Nexus Q. I also use ShareKM, another fantastic option that lets me mouse "over" to my Nexus Q from my laptop and control the cursor with my laptop's mouse. One thing I need to figure out is a way to trigger DroidMote Server and ShareKM to start listening on boot, otherwise I have to use my OTG plugged mouse to open the programs and start them up once.
To use Google Music with All Access on the Q, as I stated I'm running CM 10.1 and they have a Gapps package that gives you the Play Store and Play Framework, so you can install Google Play Music and Movies & TV, etc.
So my parents bought a Philips 48pfs8109/12 Smart TV (Android).
I want to set up something like Kodi so i can simplify the UI of the mediacenter we have, and to have them control the TV with the ipad.
I first looked at plex and tought i found the solution. So i bought a chrome cast and set everything up. The problem that occurred was that the video stutterd a lot because for some reason the streaming over wifi is not doing what is should do.
I do not think it is our internet speed since we have a decent connection and download and upload speed.
So since our TV is hooked up to the internet via Ethernet i wanted to use the TV as a receiver.
But the plex app kept asking for a PlexPass so that wasn't a solution either.
Then my eye caught XBMC or as it is called now Kodi but i cant find a way to set it up on my android tv.
I have rooted my tv, which i think means i can install unknown sources.
Maybe if i install the kodi android file on my tv. I will try that later today.
But if anyone knows a better way
PS: I also saw plexbmc and plexbmc helper which is nice because my parents like the plex ipad app.
Thanks in advance!
Install spmc from Google Play
Has anyone tried casting to a Roku tv or screen share to one? Just found out the p6 wont do it and I can't seem to find an app to do it.
Pixel doesn't support miracast for screen mirroring. You can cast from inside some individual apps (I think youtube, netflix,) and the Roku app will allow you to cast photos and music from inside the app.

Which video caster. I just installed a dozen or so of them and it will hit all my google devices but not the roku.
I used to use All Cast to mirror to Roku - there's a Roku app you install and send it using the all cast app. Originally made by Koush, the legend! https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.koushikdutta.cast I haven't used it in a while.

Thanks man. For some reason the first time I downloaded it it didn't work but now it did. Any chance you know of a way to screen mirror?

cool I'll give it a shot
What are you attempting to cast?
I know for something like Plex, you have to have the Plex app installed on the TV and then your phone acts as the "remote" controlling it.
On my 3 blue line. I don't know how but on Android 12 pixel dust I was able to screen mirror to me Roku ultra. Now I'm on pixel dust 13 and nothing but a bootloop when I try. I wish I could figure out what made it work
You can cast from inside some individual apps (I think Speed Test youtube, netflix,) and the Roku app will allow you to cast photos and music from inside the app.
I've been using AllCast for a fair while, and it seems to stream to anything I come across.
Might work for you!

will allcast work if there is no internet connection or cell service?
I don't know for sure but I wouldn't think so.
Castify. Or if you have a Roku Ultra. Or any I assume that you can insert a Flash drive - USB drive into. Create a text file. Get the link to the video. Not the webpage so a .m3u8 .ts type link like
https://server15.pelispluscdn.info/newhls/da2d03aaa61c8a07197a4edda0b89733/EP.6.0.v0.1679315043.m3u8
You can just type the link and save it as any name .m3u such as TV.m3u. If you want to add multiple you can at least on mine. Or make it
#EXTM3U
#EXTINF-
https://server15.pelispluscdn.info/newhls/da2d03aaa61c8a07197a4edda0b89733/EP.6.0.v0.1679315043.m3u8

either way works on mine as long as the USB drive is fast enough.
If course If you post a link to a website it's not going to work. The same link it sends with castify is the link you need.
You may need to insert the drive a couple times just hit the * button while at the screen that shows the drive and any DNA servers not the files inside. Turn on Search internet for thumbnails and request file type on start. Then select the USB drive and hit stay again. Make sure you search all media type and playlist mode is on. The m3u will show up as an audio playlist and you can select the link to play a stream.
I attached the same file I clicked on in the video I am attaching. Change the file extension to .m3u and give it a try. If your don't have USB support. Then I don't know how else besides Castify or Rcast. I am curious to know if this works for you tho. It loads slowly but this method will read a m3u playlist for tv as long as it's not a playlist that includes VOD and way to many channels. I took my playlist and edited out all the links for the TV streams and made each channel its own file so it loads the list quickly.
