Honor 9N is a latest budget phone from Huawei Honor.
For Indian customers, it comes with network settings as 4 options ( LTE/WCDMA/GSM Auto), (WCDMA, GSM Auto), (WCDMA only) and (GSM only).
While the network signal is weak we don't get LTE band as it jumps down to the lower signal WCDMA or GSM.
Here I will explain how to enable LTE only option in settings.
Steps:
Download the app : Settings database editor
Scroll down and look for "hw_networkmode_preference" and change its value from "9,3,2,1" to "9,3,2,1,11". save it.
Then restart your device.
Now the LTE only option will be available in Settings > Mobile Network.
Remember one thing : You will no longer receive or make a call when you are in LTE only signal. It's because only Jio supports 4G calls (VoLTE).
If you are using any other Network Service like Vodafone In, Idea... Etc, use LTE only option only when it's needed and change into ( LTE/WCDMA/GSM Auto) later to receive calls.

Changing LTE bands
I bought Honor 9N in India. To my disappointment, I cannot use it with T-Mobile in the U.S. Is there any way to change it? (Full confession: My knowledge of software/hardware is pretty poor)

before rooting my phone under network mode I used to have the option to select WCDMA/HSDPA but after rooting it that option has changed to GSM/WCDMA, how to I fix this?
Unroot........
Naaaah, i have always had gsm/wcdma option, but phone is working in hsdpa mode according to speedtest.net. So it seems to be only a name difference.
i have the same problom my phone has no 3g or H signel anymore
try to enter the apn settings manually.
in the UK we always had GSM/WCDMA even if the phone was running in HSDPA, and since most of you root onto the generic UK firmware that is your answer.
Gsm/hspa is probably a operator specific branding. But its total nonsense , gsm/wcdma is the correct wording as wcdma is umts and hspa is a software specific upgrade which is not available on all towers in most networks.
But in order to use it at all WCDMA (umts) needs to be enabled

having messed up my phone yesterday installing themes/playing....i had to reflash, so after it all finnish i now get H signels fine and 3g in the house ..and yes i have rerooted.
My SG2 is set up in network mode with GSM/WCDMA(Auto mode).
When I’m home the signal strenght, WCDMA, is -101 dBm 7asu and the voice quality is very bad, almost unusable.
When I manually switch to GSM the signal pops up to -73 and 15 asu and I can talk with a sound quality as it should be.
To me it seems that the phone doesn’t switch to GSM, or too late, when the WCDMA signal is bad.
I have tried quite a few different modems for the SG2 but I can’t see any difference between the versions. Maybe it’s the network provider that manage when to switch?
If would be great if someone could give me some info. on how the switching between WCDMA and GSM works, and the thresholds.
GSM auto (PRL) will favour GSM over 3G.
I am not sure if it will work with your network, but you can only try...........
There are a few apps around that will do it, or you can just use the following:
1. Phone dialer *#*#4636#*#*
2. Phone info
3. Set preferred network type to : GSM auto (PRL)
Edit: I am not sure if it will revert after a reboot.
This post was rather useful info, although different phone and network, principle is the same:

Help, i think that there's something wrong with my phone. The signal coverage of my phone is sometimes missing without any reason, and will appear a minutes later or will appear if i set my phone airplane mode to on and off again.
I tried to use move my simcard to my other phone and there's no problem with the signal.
The problem is 'cause you have a not 4G SIM CARD, and the phone is trying to get 4G signal. To fix this:
1. Get a 4G SIM CARD
or
2. Go to Network Menu and select 3G prefered.
I got the same problem and i have 4g sim. I don't no what is the problem. In my case may be the methal bumper but after change it with one from silicon i still got the problem. May be the thempered glass from back of the phone?
I got the same problem and i have 4g sim. I don't no what is the problem. In my case if i select GSM in mobile network its working fined but if i changed to WCDMA i have signal problem /

Isn't there one of the option where it chooses either WCDMA or GSM?
LTE (preferred)/WCDMA/GSM
Tap >> settings >> ...more >> mobile network >> preferred network type
Check the setting is 'LTE (preferred)/WCDMA/GSM'
And not 'WCDMA only'
And not 'GSM only'
Also if you are using a dual SIM phone like I do then do this:
SIM1 = 'GSM only' where the network is a GSM one.
SIM2 - 'LTE (preferred)/WCDMA/GSM' where the network is a WCDMA one.
Is there any menu that allows us to force band 12 LTE connectivity?
On the Samsung devices *#2263# allowed selecting of the band.
Also, I assume the Z4 does not have VoLTE? When making a call it drops to hspa wcdma etc. Same as when it receives a call. Or it's not provisioned by T mobile due to e911 etc that I've read.
On T mobile.
Cheers.

Hi guys, just a quick question here. My LTE (4g) is hit and miss so I currently have it set to WCDMA preferred/GSM.
Is there such an option that can give me WCDMA preferred/LTE? (So that my phone can automatically switch to LTE in areas where's its stronger than WCDMA)
If I have it on default LTE preferred it will only switch to WCDMA when LTE is non existant which is useless. I just want it to switch to what ever has the highest signal.
Cheers ?
