Installing a new rom galaxy s5 - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Dears,
I bought a new unlocked galaxy s5 G900A 2 years ago. I runs on Android lollipop. I want to delete this rom and install a newer one "either official or custom". I want to ask: " will installing a new rom affect the unlocking; will the phone return locked back to AT&T, or this doesn't have any impact.
Kindly advise & Thanks in advance.

You can backup the stock rom, but this device is no longer under warranty so once you install a custom rom I don't think you will want to go back?

(Galaxy s2)After Custom firmware, Possible to put stock OS back?

Heya guys,
I currently own a Samsung galaxy s2, which is still in warranty.
I was wondering if after i flash it with a custom ROM of ICS, i was thinking about sticking on Resurrection Remix ics v1.0 PRO.
If it were possible to literally put the stock operating system back onto it, potentially reapplying my warranty?
Cheers in advance guys,
Demonz

Obviously you void the warranty but if you want the root re-apply will have to search the forum on how to install the original firmware

Do you know if there is anyway to take a complete backup of how my phone is now? and if wanted to literally just reload it all back at a later stage?
yup. Odin custom recovery cwm, then make a nandroid backup of the stock image of your phone. Then flash rom through cwm. If u have to rma it simply restore stock backup and odin back stock recovery. No counter trip.
HTC OS in Galaxy S2
Is it possible to apply any HTC OS (4.0.3) on Galaxy S2 (I9100), if Yes then how?

[Q] GT-i9300 4.3 Update

Hello, been a member of these forums for a small time now but this is my first proper post. I own a Samsung Galaxy S3 i9300, unlocked, rooted, CWM'ed, with a Siyah Kernel and running stock OS (currently 4.1.2.) I am not a very techy person myself and am surprised I managed to modify my device at all, yet alone to the minimal extent I have.
My question is this; how would I go about updating my device to 4.3 Jellybean? I understand I must remove root for an OTA update but I am not sure if the custom kernel will cause any complications during my install, and if I would need to remove CWM? I'd rather avoid waiting for Sammobile to release the ROM as I know this will require wiping all the data on my device - a hassle I'd rather avoid.
Thanks for your time and any feedback would be appreciated.
OTA update won't work with custom kernel and recovery.
Galaxy Note 2 - rooted and customized leaked 4.3 stock
At&t Galaxy note 2 - rooted stock 4.1.2
Xperia Neo L - Bootloader unlocked, rooted and customized 4.0.4 stock.

Yes you can downgrade from lollipop to kit kat. Doing so does not effect the knox bootloader. Neither does rooting, only installing a recovery will. So if you were to want to root your phone so you can install a custom rom, you would need to install custom recovery to install the rom. This would trip the knox bootloader and void your warrenty. Im not sure if you lease your phone from tmobile, but if you do, you might want to reconsider custom roms, unless you intend on keeping the phone and not turning it back it for an upgrade. As far as rooting 5.0 lollipop im not sure. Im only speaking of my experience downgrading from 5.0 to kit kat. I hope this helps

Root UVU1DOB1 Android 5.0 on T-Mobile Galaxy S5 G900T Official Firmware
i got lollipop yesterday and i just did this 5 minutes ago. works perfectly. the only prerequisite is that you have to flash a custom recovery and immediately boot to the recovery to apply the zip

i just updraded to ob1 5.0 today and have since rooted it. took no time at all following the instructions listed in the link. now my question is can i run custom roms with the upgraded baseband and what not. would love to try some new roms on my shiny new s5
yeah, there's a couple. i ran cm12 for a bit but i had serious problems with bluetooth sound quality (dropped out every 3-5 seconds). i almost broke my S5 because of it. i've since downgraded again. i need touchwiz so i don't lose the fingerprint and other TW specific features, but right now there's no great way to incorporate xposed.. well, someone was hacking something, but i stopped following..
so essentially just hold and wait for something to be done. im loving my s5 but just want to increase battery life and maybe increase performance a bit. other than that i prefer tw and most stock files and features
I am on stock DOB1 now after bricking my phone a month ago.
Any idea if there are any stable Lollipop AOSP ROMs out there that work with the DOB1 Modems/BL?
I kinda want to try Sonic Kang. It looks pretty solid to me!
Does this root method trip knox? No recovery just root

It does if it flashes a custom bootloader or kernel.
Is this the case no matter what version OS of the phone you have?

Can anyone help on samsung i535

Hi
Can anyone please let me know how to upgrade my Samsung i535 verizon to cyanogenmod 5.1 custom...phone is currently running official 4.4.2 kitkat.
Thanks
It's not possible. VZW S3 with 4.3 and above updates have locked bootloaders. This means you can not install a traditional custom recovery and it does not allow flashing custom kernels, which anything non Samsung based would need. Your only option would be the Safestrap recovery and custom rom based off of Touchwiz. You can not downgrade either to an earlier version of the software before the bootloader lock either, just in case you had that idea. VZW asks Samsung to muck it up like that.

samsung s5 smg900f andiod 6.0 -first time noob-

Hello XDA!
Thanks for making this forum, this is my first post.
I am definately a noob.
Problem: I want to install a non-bloatware custom rom.
Hardware: Samsung Galaxy S5 sm-g900f Android 6.0
I am in the U.K. and the phone is "unlocked on all networks", meaning it will take any sim card.
I have not moded the phone myself in anyway.
I have not unlocked the bootloader,
nor installed a custom recovery.
I dont know if I need a new kernal?
Is there anything else?
So I havent installed a custom rom yet.
Q1: what steps need to be done in what order?
Q2: Exactly what info do I need from my phone?
