I use a VPN fairly frequently, but it's kind of frustrating to have to go through multiple settings windows to turn it on. Is there a way to add a toggle to the quick settings bar, or a button on the home screen or something?

Just install openvpn and set up vpn. Then just click the icon or set it to connect at boot
It's not a full-time VPN, it's for connecting to my home network to access some not-regularly-internet-facing resources on the occasion I need them, so auto-use isn't ideal.
I'm pretty well stuck using OpenVPN anyway, apparently, since I guess T-mobile S9's didn't get the required update to fix PPTP connections. Damn. Now to set up a whole new server and set up the connection on the phone.

Hi. Recent, happy convert to CM7.1 on my Nexus One.
Question, though. I use Widgetsoid, and now that I'm root, I'm using the root data toggle method. This works, but the widget provides no feedback about what state you're in. So when I click it, I need to wait several seconds until the notification bar icon appears (or disappears) to find out if the click took. Also, If I have WIFI up, the cell data notification icon goes away, so I don't know whether cell data is also enabled. Since I routinely turn off data to preserve the battery when I'm not using it, this is a frequent issue.
So. Is there a way to get Widgetsoid to light up the data toggle widget when data is enabled? Doesn't seem to be - which is funny, because I used to use the old 2g/3g toggle, which did light up to indicate whether data was enabled, even though the widget itself was only a shortcut to the data settings.
Or... is there another widget that works the way I want?
Hi,
I have been trying to disable the automatic toggling of the "sync" switch when the "Wi-Fi" switch is turned on or off in the power management widget. I am running CyanogenMod 7.1 on an HTC Desire (Bravo) GSM with Go Launcher Ex.
Please, see the attached screenshot. The topmost widget is the one I'm talking about.
I remember that the automatic switching of "sync" to match the state of the "Wi-Fi" switch is something that I did myself (because I went to a foreign country and I didn't want to have a huge mobile data bill). Now I can't seem to find the right option to untie the two switches and allow them to have distinct states.
Can someone guide me? Thanks.
Seriously, i feel like a complete idiot. Where in the hell are the bluetooth settings after the ICS update? Also, while we're at it the only way i can get into Wi-Fi settings is by dropping down the window shade, going to quick settings and then clicking on the wi-fi icon. Where the hell are the actual settings menus?

wow, totally not intuitive, only can access bluetooth settings once you turn it on. Same for wifi
In the Settings menu (via the icon in the app drawer or Menu softkey > Settings from the home screen) click on the text itself to the left side of the toggle switches.
Edit: yep, you can access WiFi's Advanced options while off, but not Bluetooth's settings. It is rather dumb.
Having a small but annoying issue here.
I find that if I turn on wifi with widgets or quickpanel in SystemUI, the wifi will take very long, or sometimes never auto connect. However, opening up settings and pressing scan results in instant connection.
Thanks in advance.
I don't have your issue and I use a notification panel created by the Power Toggles. (this was not an advertising message)
Try to create a shortcut to the WI-FI settings by:
- long press on 'desktop'
- select 'Shortcuts'
- scroll to the 'Settings shortcut', click on it;
- scroll to the 'Wi-Fi'
I know this is not so fancy like a widget or another setting app, but should be more quickly to access and I think is a workaround for your issue.
Hello
i've been using my Honor 8x for 24h and i haven't been able to figure out a way to enable/disable Wifi or the flashlight or Hotspot or just recent notifications without unlocking the phone first.
It is really annoying and blocking.
On my previous phones for examples, after turning on my bluetooth headset, i just had to enable bluetooth from the quick-access section on top of the notification menu to let them be paired again together.
Can someone tell me if it is just a setting in the security settings section or if the phone really doesn't allow this ?
Thanks a lot
Try sliding from down to up while the lock screen is on, it'll show you torch and other useful shortcuts. And as for WiFi, BT or mobile data toggle switches enable show on lock screen in settings, that'll help you! [emoji1360]
