Hi there,
I recently bought a bunch of SM-J600G for the company I work. The thing is that there is an incompatibility between our sales software and latest Samsung Firmware, so I need to try an AOSP Rom but there is no information on the WEB about it.
I'll really appreciate if someone could help me on porting from another device or knows where I could find one already ported.
Thanks in advance.
The device is relatively new, so I would expect an AOSP ROM to be ported later on if at all
Since a few days phhusson released his aosp8.1 and aosp9 gsi roms.
Both work but personally I'm not an aosp fan. Roms are to limited.
Our j6 devices need special build use arm with 64 binders.
AOSP 8.1 https://forum.xda-developers.com/pr...-development/experimental-phh-treble-t3709659
AOSP 9 https://forum.xda-developers.com/pr...vice-development/aosp-9-0-phh-treble-t3831915
Enter this telegram group (MOD EDIT: LINK REMOVED) type "#Pgsi" (without quotes, caps sensitive) and install it just like any gsi

I'm looking into the possibility of getting Resurrection Remix Marshmallow AOSP ROM running on the Galaxy A5 2017 device of Model Number(s):
A520F (Single SIM Variant)
A520F/DS (Dual SIM Variant)
I've made time available on my hands as i'm a fan of the ROM and it would be great running it up and functional on this device.
I'm hoping this post increases popularity as to attract experienced developers so i can get all the help i need since building an AOSP ROM such as Resurrection Remix from sctrach is very challenging and time consuming.
The Official A5 2017 AOSP (Devs Only) Whatsapp Group is available for all of the developers who would like to join it in helping me bring this Project to life. If your interested in joining and helping, simply post down below your intention in doing so along with your International Contact Number.
Btw here's the Resurrection OS Marshmallow Source:
https://github.com/ResurrectionRemix/platform_manifest/blob/marshmallow/README.mkdn
And here's our device's kernel source which was released by Samsung:
http://opensource.samsung.com/reception/receptionSub.do?method=sub&sub=F&searchValue=A520F
I wanna too, for A3 2017
Wasn't there something on the Whatsapp group about collecting donations for an experienced dev to buy this phone so he could port the rom? I would love to see Resurrection Remix on my A520W. Maybe if a post was made on the forum about donating, more people would see it.
I think that it's will be never possible ,because "Exynox" cpu (drivers problems.....like others devices, like some galaxy note...) ...
But it was truth in the past ....and maybe i was wrong now ,i don't know the last development ...

Ha ok ,good new for source .:good:
And yes...pity...samsung (exept "s" series) is less and less interested ...
In the past i loved customs roms but now it's maybe good for low and some middle devices but i think that it's a good "regression" ,we loose some good stock options and functiins (like finger print...etc...)... don't have the full exploitation of photo ...less performance.....etc...(samsung stock patent !!!) But yes....with some customs we can change the size, position and color of the hour,battery...etc...lol ! And cm/lineage sourced is not as "stable" as stock firmware ...
Lineage OS in on the horizon. Maybe this will help inspire other developers to take up the Resurrection Remix project or develop their own custom ROMs. But good things are coming in the future.

I see the thread has been closed and no more users are being added to the group, how can we keep up to date? I'm very interested in this phone but I'm holding back until I can see that LineageOS has a developer/maintainer.

If you hit me up on WhatsApp I can try and get the OP to add you to the group. I'll talk to him that you're interested in helping out with the development of Lineage. But once Nougat drops, I think the resources will be available on GitHub.
I hope install the rom too man. a5 a520f/ds.

already did... how exactly do i go about flashing? the file doesn't seem that large so do i clean the data, system, etc. after flash of stock?
EDIT: nvm i figured it out
I am just sitting here, wondering why the OP has not provided any links himself. It took a different user to provide links to the ROMs that aren't even for Android Oreo.
There's also no disclaimer or warning or instructions anywhere, which is very concerning because people are more likely to mess up and blame us due to there being no instructions to flash it properly, and no warning or disclaimer to tell the consumers to absolutely be careful.

already enjoying it very much. the snappy speed is really nice and got gapps installed into it with ease. hope the audio and video gets fixed soon, love me that dolby atmos mod
I'm pretty sure that we can't torrent our nightly releases or claim we can actually produce stable builds because honestly, nightly builds are typically associated as being stable nowadays, with unofficial builds being unstable, and not everyone has a torrent client and some might not want to use one.
By the way, it's worth noting that certification for devices on Nougat has been shut down by Google, and they want everyone to go to Oreo really badly, so the sooner we can output some Oreo builds that won't just make people rip their hairs out, the better.
@Paradoxify I can't get the torrent files to work. I can add them to my torrent client, but they never start downloading. Tried force rechecking, no dice. Is there an androidfilehost link? I don't use discord, and don't plan to.
Edit; Finally got both files. Deadmans twrp does not work. When I boot to recovery all I get is a black screen. And when I try installing with ashyx's twrp, the assert script erroneously thinks I have the LTE version of the sm-T350 and will not install. If I remove the assert script, it will install, but will not boot.

I will no longer be part of this team starting at this point in time. I will return to focusing on the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, and maintaining that other thread I made for the Tab A (provided that I can find anyone willing to test).

I will be willing to test builds for the TAB A. I am also no longer involved in the team either.
I no longer care if it is permissive or not, however i will still be trying to compile a working permissive kernel for nougat for others who want it
If you want to have contact with me just message me or reply here or send an email to [email protected]
@TheBestKmanEver there is a fix for Bluetooth with my permissive kernel I think I have figured it out I don't know about wifi tho
CarbonROM is an aftermarket firmware based on the Android Open Source Project. We are dedicated to fast, stable, and feature-filled roms, honesty and communication with our users, and openness with our code. We like frequent builds, with the very latest and greatest hardware support and fixes. We strive to not only provide you with the best rom we can build, but also to give back to the Android community and our fellow developers. For us, this is about creating something we can be proud of and hope you will enjoy.
Please feel free to look, build, and use our code at CarbonROM's GitHub and at CarbonROM Gerrit.
Disclaimer:
While we make every effort to test these builds as much as possible, we are not responsible for anything that may happen to your device, family, pets, or perception of reality. We ask that you do your part to know your device and know how to recover from problems before you flash!
Support:
We spend an astonishing amount of time developing this software. We can't spend much time on XDA as a result, so if you need support, please try the following:
1) Search. Search, search, search. Yes, you. I don't care how unique or important your question is, it's very likely someone has adressed it already. Especially if you're even close to new at this.
2) Read our FAQ, which can be found on our website. Carbon FAQ
3) Ask a question in your device forum. Someone will no doubt try to help you. Warning: this help may come in the form of telling you it's a dumb question that has been asked before. See step 1 - such are the perils of asking questions when you haven't done the research yourself. Android is about helping yourself.
4) Join our Discord server! There, you can connect with other Carbon users and our developers, and you can get quicker responses to your bug reports. The invite link is right below.
We recommend MindTheGApps. OpenGApps should work, but please make sure you clearly mention the gapps you're using when reporting bugs.
BUGS:
Some of the guys have been using Carbon Oreo for weeks now, and They've faced no issues. If you face any issues, please report them in as much detail as possible, preferably with a logcat and/or instructions to reproduce it.

Sorry for the Thread Looks, as I am not able to find any XDA template, and also a noob at making threads ;_;
1. Is this official or unofficial?
2. It's better to put the fact that it is for arm64 only in the thread somewhere, just to avoid confusion.
Great ROM, thanks for porting it to treble GSI.

Love it, I'm currently on havoc right now on my p20 pro and I'm definitely going to give this a try today. I've searched a bit but seems there isn't much info (at least from my searching) on how to handle the notch but I'll keep digging and if I find it I'll be sure to post results!
Thanks for the great work
Cant make it boot on v30 joan
it cant boot on moto g6 plus, stuck boot animation
OP, are you combining both A-only and ab in one file? If so, please name your files as such. It's a bit confusing
Anyone with OP6 running this GSI? Im unable to get it too boot...
*edit*
It stays on the "Android" Animation and it stays there, wont boot. And I fastboot flashed....
Although some users reported that could use Treble LOS 15.1 in Motorola Z2 Force, I've followed the rules to flash CarbonROM and got a bootloop into TWRP (both wiping or formatting data). I'll post later if I can manage it. If anybody has a hint to get it working, please, post. Thanks.
how i would be go for flashing ? just flash img without wipping ?
can i treblize my phone with new method and TWRP by galactic stryder, and for vendor partiotion, may i use, vendor rom revengeos_treble_vendor_x2_12082018 and for ROM may i use carbon rom gsi, currently i am on carbon rom by chityanj

I am attempting to build an AOSP ROM for S8 and I'm not sure what is required nor where to acquire said requirements
So far I am assuming that the Proprietary binary/blobs are kept in /system/vendor, but I'm not sure about where to acquire the device tree for S8
If I need anything else to compile AOSP for S8 please let me know what I need and where/how I can find it
Also PLEASE let me know how I can do this safely so that this won't hard brick or damage my hardware
Note: I DO NOT care about compatibility at this stage, such as camera not working, finger print reader broken, and so on, as long as the os itself works, after I confirm the os can work successfully I will attempt to fix the incompatibilities

i would prefer if it is not based on an existing custom rom to avoid copyright/ownership issues, eg forking a custom rom and claiming it as my own is basically copyright, unless i am explicitly allowed by the developer of specified ROM
