First of all, I'm new to this forums AND I'm new to rooting, so please take it easy with me.
Anyways, so I want to root my Galaxy S9 plus Exynos version, and I heard you should enable OEM unlock in developer options before you do anything, so I did switch it on, it asked me to do a factory reset, so I backed up everything and let it do its thing. Now when I go to developer options the OEM unlock is ofcourse not there, but when I go to download mode it says that OEM lock and FRP lock are off. So does that mean I successfully unlocked the bootloader and now I can flash TWRP?
I believe you have to leave the phone on for 7 days for it to show up.

Well since you new you should have done your research on this process.
If you had you would have known NOT to let it reboot to system once turning OEM unlock on....factory reset is normal as you now know.
What you should have done is flip the swtich and then boot directly to download mode and flash twrp to avoid the reset.
Yes now you must wait 7 days again to do anything.
Reading and research is key here dude, never just blindly do anything...bad things can happen. In this case no biggie though just more waiting

Sorry, but with things like this I like to be exact and have no level of presumption or uncertainty.
In saying that, when you say "flip the switch and boot to DL mode" do you mean to flip the switch, and DON'T press agree, or DON'T accept the pop up warning from samsung to restore, but to just ignore and reboot to DL mode?
So literally do what you said and do 2 actions,
1. flip switch
2. restart in DL mode (and exclude pressing any of the pop up notifications from samsung to restore).
Will this work, or do you need to accept samsungs pop up notification to reboot in order to enable OEM unlock ?

Yes you have to acknowledge the prompt then boot to DL immediately.
The key here is NOT to let the device start the reset process

Nexus 9 WIFI 16Gb stock android now stuck in endless boot after OTA 5.1.1.
Unfortunately I have a few valuable files on the device that haven't been backed up. Do I have any options to get the files back?
This is what I've tried so far:
1. Wipe cache from recovery menu. Had a warning about low diskspace before OTA that I had fixed by clearing cache for individual apps.
2. adb sideload 5.1.1
None of them worked. The latter fails because it will only upgrade from an older version and claims I already have 5.1.1.
Do I have any options left to pursue other than set this crappy device on fire and forget about it? :crying:

Hi, conceptics...
If you haven't unlocked the bootloader, or enabled the 'OEM unlock' setting in Developer Options...
SETTINGS>> DEVELOPER OPTIONS>>OEM unlocking (allow the bootloader to be unlocked)
...then your options are limited.

With an unlocked bootloader, or at the very least, with the option to unlock the bootloader, (and which requires the above setting to be enabled, and which requires Android to be fully booted in order to enable it), your Nexus 9 would almost certainly be recoverable by simply reflashing it with a Nexus 9 Google factory stock image, or fastboot flashing TWRP Custom Recovery, and then using an ADB 'pull' command to copy your stuff off of the device to your laptop/PC.
But with a locked bootloader, and likely an unlockable bootloader, these options aren't available.
I suspect you're going to have to return your device under warranty .

Have you tried booting the Nexus 9 into Safe Mode?

Safe Mode is ostensibly an Android troubleshooting mode, designed to temporarily suspend all third party (possibly rogue, badly written) user installed apps (those installed via PlayStore or user 'sideloaded' APKs) and just boots the bare essentials of the Android OS.
Now normally, booting into Safe Mode is accomplished by pressing the Power button as normal for shutdown, and then LONG PRESSING on the 'Power Off' dialogue box/option that appears and which you then just normally tap on.
(See second and third attached screenshots.)
Obviously this isn't an option if Android won't boot in the first place, due to it bootlooping.
But like the older Nexus 7, the Nexus 9 can be Safe Mode booted from a complete shutdown state.

Precision is required for this button combination...
Power on the device, and RELEASE the power button after the black and white Google logo has displayed for about 2 seconds, then PRESS AND HOLD the Volume Down button ONLY... and KEEP IT HELD DOWN until the device completes booting.
Whilst this Safe Mode boot instruction is written with the Nexus 7(2012) in mind, it also works with the Nexus 9.
I've just tested this procedure on my own Nexus 9. See last attached screenshot
As you can see from the screenshot, all of my user installed apps are 'greyed out' and are temporarily unavailable for use. Notice also the Safe Mode message in the lower left hand corner.
(See attached screenshot four.)

If you do successfully boot into Safe Mode, you can then uninstall any or all third party apps that might be problematic, and more importantly go to...
SETTINGS>>ABOUT TABLET>>Build Number ...and then tap 7 times on the Build Number until you become a 'Developer' (...if only it was that easy... )
...and then go to...
SETTINGS>> DEVELOPER OPTIONS>>OEM unlocking (allow the bootloader to be unlocked)
...and enable (checkbox tick it) that infernal setting that has caused so much trouble for Nexus 9 owners!!!
(See first attached screenshot.)
If all of this works, you can then unlock the bootloader, and reflash the device... .

My suggestions here are what in America I think are called a 'Hail Mary Pass', and I am not particularly optimistic it will fix your Nexus 9 .
But it's gotta be worth a shot.
You have nothing to lose by trying it.

I am turning to you with a specific question that I have regarding the issue with my Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 from 2/2017.
I had an accident where the phone fell on the side directly on the Volume Down button and it was constantly pressed in. I used to have issues with waking up my screen as it would automatically switch off if I didn't press the Volume Up and Back buttons simultaneously. Otherwise the phone is still in full working condition and I managed to unstuck the Volume Down button since.
When I ended one phone call, the black screen wouldn't turn on no matter what, so I got frustrated and played with the buttons and entered the Fastboot mode. I didn't do anything there so I just left and turned the device back on normally.
I was prompted to enter my password, which is always the same 4 charachter all-numbers code and it wouldn't get recognized by the phone no matter what. I am sure I typed it in correctly.
Ever since, I have been locked out of the phone and am looking for options to gain access to it.
The Android Device Manager is of no help, I do not have any Forget Password buttons, my bootloader is locked as far as I know because I didn't change anything there and the USB debugging is disabled.
Do I stand any chance of accessing my data without losing it, perhaps with use of some special software tool or passcode remover?
I don't know exactly what my firmware is, but it probably is MIUI 8 or 7.

the Android Device Manager is of no use because the phone is too new to change the password.
Also the recovery mode is inaccessible because the bootloader is locked any my USB debugging is not enabled.
Can you help yourself with the Fastboot mode in any way?
Also, I don't understand why something like this would happen and what is the password now that the device demands.
Do you know of any software tool that would recover all the data after restoring the phone and deleting all the data?

Thank you for posting this. I've had this method work once before but i am in a bit of a pickle at the moment.
I no longer get the options to 'long press vol up' which i think is the key to re locking the bootloader. Have you or anyone else got any idea why that would be?

This was tested once and it worked, it was not tried for the second time .. What version of Compilation do you have?

It has definitely worked before but not having much luck now. Maybe the latest software update has blocked this method?

Can you tell what exactly you already did with your phone? Did you unlock bootloader, re lock bootloader, then unlocked it again and then actually rooted it? And now after you unrooted your phone you can not re lock bootloader?
I am asking because I suspect that you can not re lock you bootloader again after you actually have rooted your phone once. I am suspecting I only read a post from a guy who managed to re lock is bootloader but he never actually rooted his phone once. So in other words after you tripped knox (which seems to only happen when you install magisk) you may not be able to re lock you bootloader (ever) again.

Yes!! You hit the nail on the head!! So i was able to re lock bootloader once before but i wasnt successful in rooting the phone. After i then successfully rooted the phone with Magisk i restored back to normal and no i cannot re lock the bootloader.
It seems as though a few people have said you can't re lock it after successfully rooting! Quite frustrating!!

I see. There is another method, that seems to work, tested by @robbo1947 that he explained here.

I am going to have a go again in the next few days to prove to myself and others that it is possible to relock the bootloader after rooting. Will let you know.

I look forward to your findings. As i am running my phone as my daily driver now i am hesitant to re root it if this method wont work. I have my fingers crossed though
samsung doesn't allow you to unlock and then lock back the device multiple times. It only works once, then your bootloader stay unlocked for ever.
I I had root and twrp on my s10 + but I quietly put the last nobrand ASE7 firmware back and I re-locked the bootloader without any difficulty I no longer have any warning messages at startup and in the developer options I have the oem option working like new.

OK, sorry for delay in getting back to this question of locking and unlocking the bootloader on the Galaxy S10.
During the last few days I have locked, unlocked, locked and unlocked again, probably 15 or 20 times to test various scenarios.
Please remember, each time you lock or unlock the bootloader all of your data is wiped.. any Root will also be gone. You will also be needing your current firmware.
This is for the Galaxy S10 without TWRP.
Scenario 1. Your phone is rooted with Magisk.
Go into Developers options and check OEM options, the switch must be ON (to the right). If it isn't turn it ON.
Turn off your phone. Press and hold the Bixby and Volume-down button, then connect with USB to your computer. (The cable shouldn't be connected until after you press the buttons).
Within seconds of USB connection the Download screen will appear. You will see 3 optiions, choose and Long press volume up and hold button until you see the 2 options at bottom of screen. Choose and hold volume up until screen goes off. Then the S10 logo screen will briefly apppear, before it flicks back to the Download screen with the words 'VBMETA: Error verifying vbmeta image etc' at the top, as the image below.
This is all good so far. Leave the phone exactly as it is with this screen showing and make sure the phone is still connected to the computer.
On your computer, fire up Odin3_v3.13.1, you can leave the Reboot option in Odin ticked. Locate your firmware on your computer and put the 4 file parts (BL, AP. CP and CSC) into Odin.
Let Odin finish.
The phone will reboot ready for setup.
The Unlocked bootloader warning screen will be gone.
Scenario 2. Your phone has been rooted but isn't now, and the greyed out OEM switch is ON
Easy, turn off your phone and proceed from the 2nd paragraph of Scenario 1.
Scenario 3 Your phone has been rooted but isn't now, and the greyed out OEM switch is OFF
Sorry, but in this situation, you are going to have to root your phone with Magisk as the OEM switch will only be available when rooted.
When rooted, proceed as Scenario 1.
Scenario 4 Your phone has never been rooted, and the greyed out OEM switch is ON i.e. you unlocked the bootloader but never proceeded to root the phone
Turn off your phone and proceed from the 2nd paragraph of Scenario 1.

So it seems I am in scenario 3 meaning I'll need to re root my phone which is fine. However, when I hold down the bixby and volume up and plug in I don't get the option to long hold volume up which I previously did. I only have press volume up or down. Is this because my bootloader is already unlocked? I should still be able to re root my phone in this scenario shouldnt i?

Yep, your bootloader is unlocked.
When you have re-rooted and you go into Developer options you will be able to control the OEM switch and ensure it is ON.
Then when you get into Download mode you will see that option of LONG press Volume-up.

You sir, are my hero. It all worked perfectly and i no longer get the bootloader warning screen and my bootloader is now relocked!!
For anyone else having this problem, i too can confirm that this method works. The only issue i had was that for some reason, i was stuck on the Samsung flashing boot screen for nearly half an hour. A simple reboot into recovery(hold power and volume down for 7 seconds to shut down and then quickly hold power, vol up and bixby) and wipe factory data then system reboot fixed it.
I can also confirm that after doing this and re locking the bootloader, i now have access to all apps that i was previously having issues with and my google play store recognises my devices as certified.
I now have a fully working and functional device. Thank you again.
if i revert to stock rom after root and samsung status says official and relock bootloader will be able to get otas again???

Trying to keep my kids from using my own tablet, I recently changed the screen lock and forgot the new pattern afterwards
I have the credentials of 2 google accounts opened on the tablet and my fingerprint is already enrolled on the device, I thought I could live with the finger print but discovered that I must enter the screen lock once every two days !
Now the device is locked, and it doesn't give the option of "forgot your pattern" or reset using your google account.
I'm trying to poweroff the device to restart in recovery mode, but even the poweroff function requires the screenlock pattern. I had to let it till battery is empty to poweroff, and yet I can't start it in recovery mode (power + volume up)
The WiFi is ON on the device, and it's connected to Internet, but though Google android device manager can't locate or connect to it !
My 2 Questions are:
1- How can I unlock the device with my google account or fingerprint ?

I believe fingerprints and passcodes are stored locally on the device. They wouldn't have anything to do with Google. Hook it to a computer and see if you can save your files cause it's probably going to take a factory reset to get rid of that. If you can't access the tablet to do a factory reset that way you will probably need to use Odin to return it to stock and start over from there.

Can you access TWRP? May not function on the S5e, but on another device it works to use Advanced - File Manager, navigate to /data/system and then delete the locksetting.db file. This effectively removes the lock settings on reboot. Good luck

Might be a little drastic, but you can follow the instructions for unlocking the bootloader. That will cause a factory reset. You will probably need to let the battery run down. Then, plug the USB cable into a PC and NOT the tablet. Press and hold both vol up and down and then plug the USB into the tablet. This should get you into the unlock screen. It will also get you into the download mode to use Odin.

If he can't get into the tablet at all he's not able to tick the oem unlocking toggle in Dev settings. Don't you have to do that in order to unlock bootloader?

If you let the battery run down and then use the method I gave, you CAN get to the unlock mode. And, no, you don't have to enable OEM or Dev mode to unlock the bootloader and reset the tablet. But after doing it, you will need the google login info, which the OP claims to have.

The device did not has TWRP installed before. and it's not rooted, it is with the stock ROM
Can I install TWRP from Recovery mode while the tab is locked ?
and if that's possible, is there any pitfalls or tricks that I should be aware of when installing & using TWRP ?
I went through searching and reading about how to do it, and got questions
- choosing the TWRP version to download, should I pick twrp.me/samsung/samsunggalaxytabs5elte.html or twrp.me/samsung/samsunggalaxytabs5ewifi.html ?
- I read that the only way to install TWRP without rooting, is through Odin which I never used. but what I read in

I actually almost succeed, the only problem was that i didny have wifi or cellular available, so i reflashed the stock os, locked the bootloader and called it a day. Now i want to try this again, but the oem unlock option is nowhere to be found. I've tried everything, "fastboot oem unlock", "fastboot flashing unlock", changing the date, etc. I clearly remember the "your phone is not running certified software" when i almost got majisk to work, but now I cant even find the oem unlock. I just want to use google pay man...

Perform a factory reset after removing your SIM. Skip through setup and do not connect to WiFi. Set the time manually, wait a few minutes, then change the date to at least 7 days from now, and wait a few more minutes. The toggle should appear.
However...Since you've unlocked before, maybe you could just see if you're able to unlock the bootloader?

Havent thought about resetting without the sim, good idea!
About the bootloader, if you mean unlocking it in download mode (holding volume up + volume down while plugging in a usb cable) I dont get such option. I can only enter download mode or restart the phone.
I will respond hopefully tomorrow with an update.

When you're in download mode, hold Volume Up until the bootloader unlock warning text appears.

I have done the factory reset and changed the phone date, and it (of course) didn't work.

In download mode there is no (hold volume up) option, just volume up to continue, volume down to cancel and side key to show barcode. Something that I have noticed different from other download modes is that mine is also translated in (i presume) korean and japanese.
Heres some more information that may be relevant:
In download mode pressing the volume up key to continue shows these in the top left screen:

Okay, let's try this again.
When you start download mode and see the options for Volume Up and Volume Down, just hold the Volume Up button. There isn't a prompt because it's "hidden" - unlocking the bootloader is supposed to be deliberate, not something that can be done accidentally.
Continue holding Volume Up until the bootloader unlock prompt appears.

Holding the volume up button no matter for how long will still result into nothing, sadly.

You are able to boot into Download Mode?
Just to be clear, here's the steps:
Disconnect device from USB cable (leave cable plugged into PC) and turn device completely off
Wait about 30 seconds
WITHOUT PRESSING POWER, hold both Volume buttons, and while holding plug in the USB cable from PC
Device should start with a custom OS warning and a prompt. Release all buttons. One of the options should be "Volume up long press: Device unlock mode". If you do not see this option, hit Volume Down to cancel.
If you can, provide photos of the screen.
