I got an update on att version of the phone and notice few things on the stock messenger app , one of them pinching in your conversation screen the fonts get bigger. Am I an idiot for figuring this out just now and this has been there for awhile ? I still see people complain about the font size on other forumsView attachment 4577724

I recently reinstalled Beautiful Widgets and when I added the home weather widget (small) to my home page, I noticed that some of the text is overlapping other text for some reason. For example, the location is overlapping the conditions (San Francisco is partially on top of "partly cloudy") and the current temperature overlaps the high/low temperatures.
Anyone ever see this before or know how to fix this?
Other possibly relevant info:
I ran the OTA update the other day and when it auto-rebooted itself, it hung on the Vibrant screen, permanently. I ended up using Odin to get back to stock, hence the reason I had to reinstall Beautiful Widgets.
It depends on what font you usei had same issue with the crillee italic went to stock and it was ok

Thanks, it was the font like you said.
Its weird because helvetica neue used to work just fine before my recent drama from the OTA update.

This happened with the last update to BW. Quite a number of users complained about it, but the dev doesnt seem to care. He rearranged things a bit and it creates a problem.
Nothing you can do except pester the dev to fix it.

So what WP7 UI- like apps do you guys use?
Why do you use them and what are the pros and cons?
I've seen metro UI and launcher 7. And some messaging apps. None of them are up to my expectation even if they are great. But they are amazing.
So what are your thoughts?

I use Launcher 7, Messaging Metro Beta, and WP7Contacts. Launcher 7 and Messaging metro are my favorite because in my opinion, they are nearly perfect.
I use WP7Contacts because I like the simpleness of the WP7 contacts, but I think it could be better. For example, the Facebook integration doesn't work for me (it never logs in) and when I add a new contact and enter their phone number the number is lost if I leave that page without clicking save. I don't know if this is on purpose or what, but I have lost phone numbers several times because I didn't click save.
Lately I have been trying the WP7Contact Lite app because the developer is very responsive, replies to my questions, and updates the app frequently unlike the WP7Contacts developer. I will probably permanently switch to WP7Contact Lite eventually, but for now the only thing keeping me from doing that is the inability to edit contacts inside the app (it opens the stock contact editor when you click edit) and the fact that it list all of the phone numbers under the mobile heading.

I will try the WP7 contacts app now. The launchers are really limited though. I would prefer one that has very good functionality and is smooth

Exactly. It sucks to have stuff like that.
I want a really good launcher...

So far, I have only tested on Launcher 7. I would say, it is still not up to my expectation, as it doesn't have Live Title feature. So, I would prefer to get a real WP7 phone, if I really want to have Metro UI. Android is pretty difficult to mimic the look n feel of Metro UI.
None of them do WP7 justice.

Any.Do is a to-do list app with a WP7-like UI. I have used this for a while.

I dont know why everyone is saying launcher 7 isnt that great. The app does have live tiles and is very smooth for me. Right now I have 5 live tiles running (2 photo tiles, calendar tile, email tile and contacts tile, plus the fly in/out animations) and it still runs smooth. And I have it all themed up to look nice and sexy. lol. Thats one thing this launcher has over actual WP7. You can make the tiles anything you want.
I also use Metro Messaging Beta and it is almost identical to WP7 as far as look goes. Just donate to the dev and you can get a lot more features. Its worth it.
WP7lock is a nice WP7 like lockscreen. But use "No Lock" from the market along with it because the stock lockscreen likes to take over sometimes.
I've used the wp7lock before and loved it (wish it was updated) launcher 7 was always well but i could never "get into it" and the metro messaging beta "donate for notifications" pissed me off to no end. the user smartdev is coming out with an wp7 messaging app that looks really interesting!
im on axiom 4.0.3 ICS rom right now, love it. only thing i miss from my nexus is the black sms apk, can i use any old apk from the nexus or does someone need to make a new one for the razr?
love the black themed apps.
Have you searched around for any black oriented themes for go sms pro? That may help you with what your looking for.
Use Hancent, best messaging app I've ever used. The theme is so customizable, that you'll probably be able to duplicate your Nexus' style.
this can eaily be solved by handcent or go sms
I'd kill for the stock SMS app, black option, with Emoji and iPhone-style group MMS.
Dream, I know.
Problem with Handcent, for me, is it's kinda bloated and slow and ugly to be honest. They really need to streamline it and make it line up with the simple look of ICS.
I would definitely give go sms a shot because once you set it up the way you want it as far as colors and themes it's simply an incredible third party text messaging application

Just reboot into recovery (CWM/Bootstrap or Safestrap), flash and reboot and you're good to go!

...amen!
Is there a way to make it where you can zoom in on a pic from a text message? On my S2 with ICS I was able to pinch to zoom on MMS pics. On the S3 the pics play as a clip and wont zoom.
Can I use the S2 MMS in the S3? Or is there a rom out that has this fixed?
pls move to Q&A as i cant delete it.
I agree. Coming from HTC Sensation, I love the S3, but the way TouchWiz handles MMS' sets this phone 5 years back. First, why can't we just view the attachment as a pic? How hard is that? No one needs a slide show just to view 1 pic. 2nd, this small view of the photo and lack of zoom in function is worthless. I have to save the attachment every time, then open in the Gallery viewer. Don't really want to save every single mms I receive. TouchWiz has really messed this part up. They have it backwards. I would like to take my font size even smaller than tiny because I think that is way too big, but yet they have the attached mms pics so small you damn near can't see them.
You can wait for a modded SMS/MMS app or just you chompsms from the market or something. Chomp doesn't use the slide show thing.
Yes, you can use ICS messaging app. Look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1736159
I am using it now and it does what you want.

Do you know if this ICS app will work on the US T-Mobile S3 version? I would like to give this a try. Thanks.
I would pull the one out of my ICS S2 as it did what I wanted it to do but dont know how to pull it or if it would work.
Im willing to grab the file from my S2 ICS and instal it. Anyone know where its at and if I need to delete the S3 one first?
Very frustrating that you cannot increase the font size in the stock messaging app and have it stick. The problem I've always run into, is using 3rd party apps, Textra, Android messaging,.....is that I seem to miss some text messages, especially in a group text. Is there a way to fix this (both part 1 and 2 i guess)?
Yes . On the att version , I know ( I'm not sure if was an update that did it ) you can pinch 2 finger zoom in/out gesture to increase or decrease size of text fonts in conversation view. Try it and see if it works for you
