Hey folks,
what's the most sturdiest transparent case on the currently market?
I basically want to have the protection level of a Pelican Shield or Zizo Bolt (those are iPhone cases, but basically that's the "protection category" I am looking for), while still being able to enjoy the sweet twilight color on the back of my phone.
Does this exist? Any suggestions?
Also looking for the best glass screen protector to go with the case in order to eliminate the possibility of damage to the screen or phone when dropping it.
Check out the cases that UAG sell, I bought a Plyo from Amazon. I don't use a screen protector with mine. https://www.urbanarmorgear.com/collections/p20-pro
Hello.
I went for these pair from Amazon.
Huawei P20 PRO Case, Spigen [Ultra Hybrid] Flexible TPU Hard PC Back All Round Protection Phone Case Cover
gp/product/B07BS765MR/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Spigen Huawei P20 Pro Screen Protector, HD Full Coverage, Edge to Edge Protection
/gp/product/B07CGD26Q7/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
The case has some nice notches on the rear to keep the cameras from touching the surface, although the protector is a few mm short and there's a collection of dust between that and the case but very easy to apply.
I'd paste the full link but I can't I'm sure you know what parts missing mind....
Got the UAG Pylo. Expensive as ****, but here's hoping that it will actually provide protection if the worst should happen and the phone drops. Thanks
after much research, I got the Ringke Fusion, eBay item number 323312202335 - has camera protection on the back as the surround sits higher than the lens instead of being flush like most of the others
doesn't cling to the back of the phone too, leaving the twilight colour looking just as it should, unlike the cheap case supplied with the phone

Hey there I figured this might be of some use to anybody wanting the ultimate "ruggedized" protection for their Note 3.
It is well-known that the added thickness of some tempered glass screen protectors will prevent some of the most rugged cases from being used (as is the case with Otterboxes apparently). So, should you be stuck with a cheap TPU case while having the best protection for your screen??! No!
The usual rule of thumb dictates that any case with hard plastic parts that snap together (front and back) will not work, alas if it covers too much of the phone's face. It cannot flex so it cannot clip closed. Futhermore, if it DOES close, it might put a lot of pressure on the phone or protector, as well as potentially make your protector lift. We don't want that.
There are, however, 2 rugged cases that you can use with glass protectors. I did the tests with a MIME USA Ghost glass (0.32mm thickness) so any protector of equal or inferior thickness will work.
1: Ballistic SG MAXX
2: Trident Case Kraken AMS
With Ballistic's case I'm pretty sure one would be able to fit one of the thicker protectors such as the regular Spigen (0.4mm), as you only have rubber corners going over the screen.
Hope this can help.
Sent from my SM900W8 Note 3 using xda-devs app. And my fingers.
Does a ruggedized case really give you that much extra protection or is it placebo effect? I've dropped my phone a bunch of times onto either my tile floor or garage asphalt/sidewalk and never had problems with screen or body damage- all without a "ballistic" type of case. In fact all I do is put a tempered glass protector on it and a bumper around the edges- because when you drop your device, it's usually those areas that are the vulnerable points.
Other than protecting the edges and front glass, why make a device thicker than it needs to be with a $50 case if the back cover itself is $5-$10 to replace?
I am considering picking up a OnePlus 5 since they have the student discount right now and am wondering, what is the recommended tempered glass screen protector and case to protect the phone.
I love Nillkin tempered glass screen protectors for the OnePlus One, Nexus 5, and Xiaomi Redmi Note 3, but it seems they really dropped the ball on the OnePlus 5. The screen protector doesn't even cover the whole screen! Then there's Orzly which covers the screen but the quality itself is not as great. So who does that leave then? What would you recommend?
I also don't know what case to choose. I was thinking of picking up the Nillkin Super Frosted Shield Matte case, but I wanna see what other alternatives XDA likes.
To be honest, the Nillkin is probably the best at the moment, it's got full face adhesion unlike a lot of the others which only have adhesive on the black borders, which means the main screen hovers slightly above the phone's screen which gives a rainbow effect when you use it. It's also compatible with pretty much every case because it's not pushing up against them like a lot of the others. The only thing about it is you can see dust around it as it doesn't reach the edges but this doesn't affect it's use and can be cleaned with a good wipe (I recommend these).
Spigen cases are nice but seem to be the worst for lifting the edges of any larger screen protector (including the official one).
The official screen protector from OnePlus is not compatible with the Otterbox case so remember that when you make your choice, both companies have stated this.
As for cases my personal favourite is the Spigen Neo Hybrid, I just love the way it looks.
I agree with @djsubterrain. Go for the Nillkin.
But if you want a tgsp which covers all of the screen, I recommend you this one : https://forum.xda-developers.com/on...-automatic-adsorption-tempered-glass-t3660494
This tgsp is full adhesive, not only on the black borders. It fits perfectly with the sandstone case from OnePlus.
If you go with glass screen protector, don't get any of the ones that go edge to edge, they all suffer from the same problems such as dust getting underneath and the rainbow effect. As the others mentioned, the Nillkin is your best bet for glass.
As for cases, Spigen always makes good high quality cases and they have a couple of models available, I just recently got the Ultra Hybrid Clear case. I know clear cases tend to turn yellowish with time, but I like to show off my Dbrand skins.
Supcase makes a great full protection case called Unicorn Beetle Pro. Some of you are surely familiar with it. For those not, give it a look. It offers the most protection for our phones, at a reasonable price. You can search "UB Pro OnePlus 6t" to find vendors.
Have one? Lemme know your thoughts ...
Can you take the screen protector off easy?

I love it. It's easy to assemble and disassemble. It's looking great! It's not heavy at all! Drop it and it still not crack.
Is it waterproof?

I took the built in screen protector when I bought one for my iPhone x. Had a glass screen protector on the phone and it felt so much better. Not hard to take off just take your time going around.
FYI: The case looks like it is the exact same as Poetic Guardian, but Poetic's is cheaper.
Cant speak for poetic. But ive used unicorn beetles for years. Always top notch. Ide pay a few more bux unless i saw an awesome review on the poetic.
Sent from my LG-H830 using Tapatalk
Used poetic cases on essential and pix 2xl and they were about the same quality as a Spigen of the same build type.
I ordered the Poetic with the clear back while waiting for UB Pro to release. It is similar except they cut a notch where the camera is which means dust ends up behind the screen protector on the poetic also it feels looser the screen protector has some play and the back clear portion fills with pocket dust also since its not tight to the phone either. Also the UB Pro has a kickstand I would say if u dont mind dust behind the screen protector and the back get the cheaper Poetic if you want a tighter more dust resistant case with kickstand get the UB Pro

As a former user of a UB Pro on a Nexus 6P, yes. I utilized a intelliglass/intelliarmor Tempered glass screen protector after removing the built-in plastic cover.
Now, I am using the Poetic Revolution with the OP6T. I did the same thing with the built-in screen cover. Currently, have a tempered glass screen protector for it....just waiting for the plastic one to fall off/peel up.
For removing the built-in plastic (or at least what worked for me), heat up the adhesive a bit to loosen it up and then use a utility knife/blade to slide it under the plastic. Your mileage may vary, so be careful to use the knife/blade away from yourself (cut away) and the plastic case may heat up (watch out for hot surfaces with your finger tips).
For those with the UB Pro case, how is the flap covering the alert slider? On the Poetic, it can be a little bit difficult to switch the slider.
I purchased a Unicorn Beatle case for my Moto g5 Plus over a year ago. Yesterday I purchased a new OnePlus 6T from OnePlus, and after performing an extensive search over the past two weeks to discover if there have been any new rugged cases designed since then that may outperform the Unicorn Beetle Pro, I've concluded the Poetic Revolution is the only one that comes close but the Unicorn Beetle Pro still reigns as champion in my honest opinion. Why? Because it's honestly the best case for those who value the best protection for their phone.
Unicorn Beetle Pro vs. Poetic Revolution
I've never purchased a Poetic Revolution case, but I can share my experiences and knowledge of the UB Pro and the subtle differences I've recognized between the two. Although the two appear to almost identical, at first glance, there are a couple subtle differences I feel give the UB Pro an advantage over the Poetic Revolution. For example, the corner bumpers of the UB Pro are extended/larger to add additional protection, not only from corner impacts but also side impacts between the corners. Inside these corners are larger air chambers to add cushioning protection in order to absorb shock and impacts. These raised corner bumpers also provide additional side clearance that protects the buttons and the side of the device from impacts. Then there's the included holster which is an obvious advantage over the Poetic Revolution package, and it's a good holster. I've had phone holsters in the past that didn't hold up to every day impacts and rubs, and the belt clip ended up easily and unrepairably breaking off, almost effortlessly. However, the UB Pro holster has put up with a surprising amount of impacts and rubs without any issues at all.
The Unicorn Beatle body rubber is firm, yet soft enough to absorb shock and prevent damage to the device. I've had numerous accidental drops throughout the year while handling the device, even down a flight of steps, and the UB Pro has done exactly what it's suppose to do, protect my device. It's never disappointed me.
I don't know what thickness the Poetic Revolution case provides, but I measured various areas of my UB Pro case with a caliper and found the back thickness of the case to be .13" (3.302mm) thick, and it's made of a blend of rubber and polymer. The front protection for the phone screen is what makes the Unicorn Beatle stand out from most if not all of the other phone cases I've seen. Around the perimiter of the device screen is a raised lip which measures a strong .13" (3.302mm) above the device screen. This is the same clearance provided for the rear camera. Many people don't realize the huge advantage this provides toward protecting your device screen and camera lens, far and above all of the other phone cases I've tried which only measured around 0.0393701" (1mm) to 0.0590551" (1.5mm) at the most. Why is this an advantage? So glad you asked, lol. In the event your phone slips from your hand and lands face down outside, there's a good possibility Mr. or Mrs. Pebble (which ranges from 2-4mm) could be waiting in ambush for the opportunity to focus all of its attention on one tiny location on your screen with a kiss, which will more than likely shatter the phone screen. The Unicorn Beatle is the only phone case I've come across to date that provides an additional 0.0984252" (2.5mm) clearance beyond what all of the other cases provide. I believe Supcase has intentionally designed this in because they understand the importance of not only protecting the back and side of your device, but also your device screen from the kiss of disaster by Mr or Mrs Pebble.
As for the built in screen protector on the Unicorn Beatle case, meh. It will protect your device from key and coin scratches, but it allow dust and debris to get between the plastic screen protector and the phone screen (at least with the Moto G5 Plus), which in turn could damage the phone screen. Initially, I installed a tempered glass screen protector on my device screen in combination with the UB Pro plastic screen protector, however, I ultimately pulled off the plastic screen protector built into the Unicorn Beatle frame and cleaned off all of the glue. With that said, I've had no issues with the Unicorn Beatle case causing any problems with the tempered glass screen protector installed on my device.
Best wishes to you. If you choose to purchase a Unicorn Beatle case and holster package, I believe you'll be fully satisfied by the level of protection it provides.
Perhaps if someone out there has the Poetic Revolution case, they can take some measurements to show additional comparisons between the two. Or, I may order one in order to post the differences in here.
Shalom aleichem
I have a poetic case.
I left the stock screen protector on.
The dust part is annoying, I miss the LifeProof case I had on my pixel XL.
Only modification I made was the cut off the USB hinge, as I felt the hinge was putting pressure on the USB cable while plugged in, and therefore putting pressure on the USB internal connector.
So as a precaution, I trimmed it off with an exacto blade, and now it's much easier to plug in the us cable in the car especially.
I already got my unicorn beetle pro case from supcase -- amazon fulfilled the order. I bought mine for 22 bucks.
Just received my case included is a screen protector and some goodies you can check the pictures. All for the price of 14 RMB. I bought it from JD.com in China. It took 11 days until I received my order because they were waiting for orders to start manufacturing the case since it's still a new phone.

Regarding a back skin I am not aware of any sold in China probably outside of it maybe yeah. The only cases that were available for the 1st generation ROG were only these type of TPU cases. I hope it's not the same case for the ROG 2. So far the only cases you can find for the ROG 2 are the TPU and book cover types.

Yes there is a cut out for air triggers and side USB. I can use the air triggers but not comfortably, if you use them too much I would suggest using the plastic case included with phone instead. You can check the cut outs from the pictures attached.
I bought a TPU Case and Tempered Glass screen protector off eBay (both came from the same seller) for my ROG Phone 2 (Tencent 8GB/128GB model), so I thought I'd share my thoughts on them.
Case ($10.89): Ultra Thin Soft Silicone Case For ASUS Rog Phone 2 ZS660KL Shockproof Back Cover
Screen Protector ($14.89): Nillkin CP+Pro Tempered Glass Full Screen Protector For ASUS ROG Phone 2 ZS660KL
I love both items!
The case is probably one of the best TPU cases available for the ROG Phone 2 at the moment. All ports are accessible, everything lines up properly, Air Triggers still work great, it has a nice 0.3mm raised lip around the screen to help protect it. Overall, nothing really bad to say about the case, other than maybe the "Soft Silicone" part of the name is a bit misleading as its not like super soft rubber or anything like that. Its flexible before inserting the phone, but I wouldn't really call it soft silicone. Still though, its a great case and I feel the phone is protected from small accidental drops now (definitely more-so than the stock clear hard plastic case that comes with it)!
The Tempered Glass screen protector is also great. The fingerprint sensor still works just fine, Its easy to apply, it can be lifted and re-positioned if you don't get it on perfect the first time. I was worried about the black borders around this particular screen protector when I first bought it, but everything lines up perfectly and doesn't appear to be covering or blocking anything when positioned correctly on the screen!
Edit: ok so even when installed perfectly, the black borders on the sides of the screen protector do block a tiny bit of the screen when viewed straight on... But it is tiny, like maybe 5 or 10 pixels on each side of the screen. You really gotta be looking for it to notice it though.
Edit2: so it also seems there is a very slight decrease in touch screen sensitivity with the tempered glass screen protector installed. After using it for awhile I noticed very occasionally it wouldn't register my input and I'd have to tap again. HOWEVER, this phone is so awesome, it has a built in way to solve this issue. Just go into the settings, then Advanced, scroll to the bottom and enable Glove Mode! It's meant to increases the touch screen sensitivity while wearing gloves, obviously, but works well to fix this minor issue as well.

Hi,
Stumbled on this Android Central article for Asus ROG phone 2 cases - Link

I've also ordered the nillkin CP+Pro tempered glass.
Have been using their tempered glasses for years. They are the best.
Can you also share images from bottom and top of the cover with phone?? And how much thickness does this cover add to the phone?
Also does it create issues in heat dissipation?
Thanks

Including the 0.3mm raised lip around the phones screen, this case adds a total of 2.5mm of thickness and 3mm of width to the phone.
Measuring with my digital calipers, the phone without a case is 9.5mm thick and 78mm wide (not including the slight camera bump or the phones buttons). With the case on it measured 12mm thick and 81mm wide.
Heat dissipation is still excellent. I haven't noticed any change at all in temperatures.
I've looked everywhere but its nowhere to be found, can anyone guides me as to where I can get a good tpu case?
International vendors ship to india but delivery dates are no less than 30 days after I order.
Hi,
No TPU case present in India as of yet.
I have bought the one described in this thread - link
The units sold is very less in comparison to other brands like oneplus that is why you don't see recognised brands like spigen, otterbox or ringke creating a case for this phone.
Your best bet is to place an order on Aliexpress or Amazon.com.
Though sellers will be shipping cases from china only.
Please share if you find out some other good case?
Also look at these cases available as of now - Link

Ok guys I got the Xperia 1 iii after much thought and since I got it after getting the official Sony case and a screen protector I have been through 3 glass screen protectors in like the first couple of weeks and hadn't even droped my phone outside . I put this down to the poor protection from the official Sony case offers. So I purchased the Spigen case that offers the full bumper cover and replaced another Spigen glass screen protector for little under £15 and after putting it on my bed side cabinet last night and getting in the car this morning I noticed the screen protector is broken again .and I haven't even dropped it inside . So I'm down over £100 in the last month or so and geting fed up with trying to find a decent case and screen protector for the Xperia 1 iii
I also look for a good screen protector. Which one can I get on Amazon Italy?
I have read that it is best to avoid the spigen align master.
As a cover I feel great with the Spigen
Spigen case is great. You will not find a suitable screen protector because the edges of the screen are still "curved" thereby not allowing the protector to cover the entire screen edge-to-edge. I gave up on a screen protector for most phones lately due to this fact.

I think it depends on what you mean by edge to edge protection. If you mean it covers the entire front, bezels included all the way to phone edges than no there isn't one, though those screen protectors with black borders all around get pretty close. The draw back is that depending on the manufacturer, some of them have black borders covering the edges of the screen more than others, which can be noticeable and annoying.
There are also screen protectors that go slightly beyond the edge of the screen. As in you can see the border between the screen and the bezels right beneath the glass, but that's about it. I consider that screen edge to edge and I have been using that. As you mentioned, since the screen curves ever so slightly at edges, the edge of that screen protector doesn't sit 100% flush on the screen.
Some manufacturers give a kind of transparent filler glue that you can brush in the gap along the edge to fill it up and make it looks seamless instead of a visible air gap. However because it isn't a solid surface, the glass along the edges can crack if you press your screen edge hard enough multiple times, maybe from an intense gaming session. But under normal use, so far it held up.
I don't have recommendations, as I bought them from my local e-commerce site, although they are direct from China, so I'm sure they are there somewhere on Taobao or Aliexpress. I am not sure of which ones are these if I were to search on those platforms, or on your platforms like Amazon.
I use spigen glass and except the first one that broken easily i have no issue.
I bought spigen case but trashed it after a single day..too bulky...i bought a 10 Eur in soft clear silicon off amazon.it (Elyco Cover) Not the best against yellow tint but i smoke then no case will ever be safe from yellow tint.
But this cover is really really thin and don't ruin phone appearance
The spigen cover for iphone 12 pro was good, pretty thin but protective. The one for Xperia 1 III from spigen is really really bad, it protect well but increase the size of the phone in a nasty way

The Spigen ultra hybrid (in 2021 It was the only cover for Xperia 1III fine by Spigen)
And compared to the One i use now is sensibly bigger and bulkier, also i found the hard plastic parts in the rear of the cover pretty nasty.
For example on my old Xperia 1 i have the Spigen Crystal liquid cover and if you compare that Spigen cover with the One for X1 III Is pretty clear how the new cover made the phone bulkier.
It's not much, around 1-1.5 mm thicker, but the feeling Is worst, at least for me.

I really recommend the original cover with stand:

Spigen cases all the way. Had them since my Nexus 6P.
