I noticed. Anyone know what’s going on?
Well, the logs for all the Tenderloin builds have no commits - the intriguing thing is looking at Gerrit and seeing all the Android P commits going on. None that I saw for Tenderloin, but a lot of work being done on P.... I know Flintman has said he had P booting on Tenderloin elsewhere - so who knows what's up, but it seems something is baking!
Just like to know if is there similar with durty-unicorns ?
Any way to root this build??

Yup
Excellent news
Is there any reason to have a new update on a daily basis?
I guess it is automatic.
You can click on log to see the changes :

I saw that; However, I didn't test it though, to have an opinion about it.

It's just a bot. It mindlessly pumps out builds of the entire ROM, not just the tenderloin (HP) device.. It may or may not have commits in other parts of the ROM.

I installed the ROM from 9-26-2018 and it does have changes to it. Now you can see the external USB partition when connected to a PC, it did not worked before. It may be a bot but the new commits are been apply and fixing bugs. The most important is that new commits are uploaded, then the bot will regenerate the new build. If anyone working on the TP ROM have access or that can upload the commits, this ROM will be very close to perfection by now. Is a shame is not been taking care of properly as we get new builds very fast! ( Even the camera partially works, you can see yourself when opening the app, it may need a very small tweak! )
There is even work been done for p-9.0 or at least files that are updated!

I'm having an issue with 10/6 build. If the tablet sleeps for more than a couple minutes, I need to force a reboot by holding the home button and power buttons. It will drain the battery quickly while in this state.
Ideas?
The Evervolv oreo 8.1 builts are not stable, the issue that you are experiencing is one of the bugs.
Another one is activating battery saver and deactivating will reboot.
Use DU built, is stable.

The DU build lags badly on my device. The Evervolv nightly from November 1st seems very snappy by comparison. Haven't tested it much but first impression is that I haven't found a ROM this responsive for the TouchPad in quite a long time...

What makes a ROM faster is the Kernel and the CPU speed plus governor settings.
One setting does not work for every user as everyone uses the tablet differently.
Yes the last Evervolv is a good one. But also DU works great if you do not need to use the camera.
You can make the tablet faster by using the overclock kernel and change the CPU settings to your likes.

I do not need the camera, but all ROMS I've tried past KitKat suffer from bad slowdowns, where everything appears to regularly freeze for several seconds, scrolling in web pages is very jerky, etc. Overclocking helps a little, but not much. I unfortunately experienced the same behaviour with DU 12.5, even after a full wipe.

Unfortunately not all touchpads were build the same and there are variation on their parts, the most important CPU . That is the reason that an optimized setting can not be apply to all, because it will make some unusable.
That does not mean that the one with the worse quality parts can not perform well, all of them can with the right settings and it takes just some basic testing that the user must do and apply its own settings, there is only one that matters:
Find the lowest and maximum CPU frequency: Get the Overclock Kernel and an app that will allow to change the frequency, there are a lot out there.
Change the lowest it will work and the maximum by selecting one by one, if once selected it freeze or reboots then it will be the previous frequency:
In general this is the basic for maximum frequency:
All should perform at the maximum 1782000
Better: 1836000
Best: 1890000
At those higher frequency there could be some reboots depends on the settings:
All should be stable at when overclok 1782000.
Now comes the trick settings:
Some Kernel app will allow to apply settings to each cpu core individually.
Set the cpu0 to highest 1782000 and select Governor to Performance ( it will run constantly at that speed)
Set the cpu1 to lower anywhere from 1674000-1512000
Also select your minimum on both 192000 - 384000
Now change the voltage: Maximum to be stable 1400000 (it can be apply in increment until it reach the maximum to the 1782000 frequency.
Set the zRAM size to 2gb size ( maximum )
That is all!
Now the browser is important, use the latest version as of right now, some are faster than others, try them all!
All ROMS should be able to perform decent and give you great performance.
In the latest DU, using Opera or Firefox you can browse the web even go to youtube website and use it as if it was the native google app, no delays fast playing no lag ( all depends on your internet speed )

Here are a few tweaks to get XRON/CM7/CM9 running a bit smoother
Make sure to create a Nandroid before applying these tweaks, just in case something goes wrong
Smoother Scrolling - for XRON2.9 Deodexed/CM9 (unless you apply the mod yourself).
Files are attached, make sure to rename the file to framework.jar.
The instructions to replace the framework.jar are included in the original post under D. Installing steps.
Or you can use ADB:
Code:
adb push c:\path-to-framework\framework.jar /system/framework
adb shell chmod 0644 /system/framework/framework.jar
This mod really helps smooth out menu scrolling, most noticeable while browsing long lists like in Titanium Backup or Root Explorer, I've noticed a speed boost under Youtube as well (CM9). This made a bigger difference on XRON, but still makes a notable difference under CM9.
Reduce Lag - For XRON/CM7/CM9a0.5
Up threshold tweak, under advanced settings with CPU Master/SetCPU - 30-40% should provide you with a lag-free experience.
Use SetCPU instead of CPU Master for CM9a0.5 with BrickedKernel.
This tweak will get rid of most of the jumpiness in heavy applications, like Cordy or Opera Mobile. I ran the TP before and after side-by-side with the iPad 2 and it went from about 30-40% the speed of the iPad 2 to about 80-90% (Opera Mobile VS Safari). A big improvement. The downside to this tweak is you will experience worse battery life.
Reduce Lag - For older versions of XRON (before 2.8) and CM7
In the build.prop make these changes:
1. Change debug.composition.type=c2d to debug.composition.type=gpu
2. Add debug.sf.hw=1 (or change to match if it already there)
This build.prop change will help speed up the UI dramatically if you are still running CM7 3.5 or an older version of XRON.
Improve Auto-Rotation Speed - CM9a0.5
Included in the cm9a0.5-framework.jar are modifications that should help speed up auto-rotation as explained here and here.
These tweaks made a dramatic difference on my TP. Good luck!
These will probably speed up MIUI too, but you'll have to do the framework.jar mod yourself. If you do, feel free to share the jar and I'll add it to the post.
Off-topic, but I booted up webOS for the first time in months today to update it. Damn, that thing is slow.
Interesting, I'll try out #1 and #2. Thanks for putting it into a separate thread since I wouldn't have noticed it otherwise.

WebOS, running an overclocked kernel at close to 1.8GHz on both cores, is extremely smooth. The multitasking and saving of current app states is excellent. Too bad there's not much more than the browser, email, and Angry Birds and a few Gameloft games to put it to use.
Going to try out these tweaks, thanks!

I really like WebOS as well, HP/Palm really hit the nail on the head concerning the user experience and multitasking. With all the Preware tweaks and the device overclocked it is quite fast.
But the web experience is still too sluggish for my taste, especially when compared to Android running Opera Mobile with the tweaks above or an iPad 2.. And of course there is a major lack of applications for WebOS.
Thanks for posting. I'm a TP newb running CM7 3.5. It sounds like 2 and 3 are applicable to CM7. I'm going to give 3 a try.
Are there any other general tips for CM7 or the Touchpad in general?

The first one will work on CM7 as well, but you'll have to mod the framework.jar yourself as explained in this post.
You could also try my framework.jar, but it may break your install (if you try it make sure to create a nandroid first).
Yeah, it broke my wifi even though I'm on Xron. I'll just have to do it manually later

Which version? It should have no problems on 2.9 deodexed, I've done it multiple times.
Make sure you set the permissions/owner the same as the old file.
It was 2.9
However, I suspect the problem might have been something else as restoring the nandroid didn't fix it and I had to go back to an even older nandroid.

The main problem with webOS is it lacks text reflow. The iOS and WP7 also lack it. I don't know why Android is the only OS that gets this right. I actually wish I had text reflow on my desktop/laptop browsers, and occasionally boot into a x86 Android virtual machine just for specific sites whose fonts don't play well with Chrome (since Google removed font size increases years ago and never replaced it).
I also don't understand why no one complains about the lack of text reflow in other OS's. Maybe I'm just blind or something.
BTW (a little more on topic), do these tweaks work with ICS?

I'm not sure. The framework.jar mod might, but I have not tried it yet. The up threshold tweak would probably help, but I haven't figured out how to change that yet. The build.prop tweak did not seem to change anything for me.
Updated OP with info/tweaks for CM9.
Are we supposed to rename CM9-framework.jar to framework.jar in order to replace the framework.jar that's already present in /system/framework?

Correct.
Create a nandroid beforehand just in case. Also, make sure that you set the permissions/owner the same as the original file.
If you are running a different variation I can't guarantee it will work, it has only been tested with CM9A0 and CM9A0.5.
For some bizarre reason the only thing that shows up under the "Advanced" Tab is "sampling rate". I've tried both CPU Master and SetCPU, and all I can see is sampling rate. Nothing else shows up.

Okay, finally got it to work. I had been confused regarding the presence of the "brickedkernel" and "cyanogen mod" option in the boot up list. When I went to brickedkernel wi-fi didn't work, but in the CMMod option it did. I finally realized that when I had flashed back to Alpha 0, then back to .5 (to correct a boot loop issue), the Bricked Wi-Fi modules must have been replaced. So I reflashed the Bricked kernel and Wi-Fi worked. Finally went to SetCPU and surprise! Threshold was already at 90% lol. Opera is still jumpy though so I give up. I mean it's "smoother", but not as smooth as on my Charge.
My "Scaling" is set to "ondemand" (with max freq. of 1.56 GHz), Sampling rate set to 50,000, and "Ignore Nice Load" and "Powersave Bias" are both set to 0. I'll try to set Sampling Rate to 10000 and see what happens.
Edit: Nope, no change. Ah well...

Yeah, I have it at 30%/50000/1.5ghz and it is quite smooth, smoother than the stock browser at least.. But not quite as smooth as my Epic.
I'm guessing that once HW Acceleration is working 100% it'll speed things up a bit more.
I'm on cm9 a.05 booted to Bricked and still don't see anything else except sampling under setcpu | advanced

I had backed up my stock kernel using trickster mod, then flashed franco.kernel r-4. I confirmed everything on my phone was working properly, then paid for the donate version of the app so I could restore my stock kernel back to my nexus 10 4.2.1. All was well until I started using my device,
- OTG support was intermittent and my applications were running abnormally slow.
- Most of the folders that had write privileges could not be written to anymore when I tried making a new TWRP backup and ended up corrupting some of my existing application backups (combination of program not being able to write properly and OTG fading in and out).
I had to go into TWRP and restore from a nandroid after the fact and run Titanium to restore all my apps - OTG and worked fine after that. Any ideas, or a possible fix? I'd like to get the most out of the restore kernel function of the app.

Hi there,
The code to do the backup/restore couldn't possibility do that (e.g. it does not contain anything to change permissions). As I don't have the device, previous tests were done by my testers and I had positive results, so I will ask them to check again. For now, can you provide more information:
- ROM: I guess stocks?
- busybox: which app did you use to install it? busybox version?
- If possible do a new nandroid backup and do two bug report (Trickster MOD menu): once before you do a new backup and another when you restore kernel so I can check if there's anything goes wrong. Also send me the list of contents in /sdcard/kernel_backups

Thanks for the quick response! I can do that later today. Yes, Rom is stock Jellybean rooted 4.2.1, busybox was installed using the stericson tool from the play store. Ill pm you later with extra info.
heya, loving the app. got one question if anyone can answer. does anyone have a list of kernels that support s2w? I'm using kmanta but it doesn't show CPU temp.
also on a side not, where would the options show up if its able?
edit: stock kernel from paranoid android for n10 and franco kernel doesnt show temperature either
Big eyes, I'm running trickster for the first time on the gnex and have a question. If I change the max freq from 1700 to 1600 and hit save. Then exit and go back in, its back to 1700. I then tried the freq lock option and that seems to work and it stays at 1600.
What's odd, is on the main screen (device status, core 0/1) it only goes to 1000mhz max. In realtime I mean....if I put my finger on the screen and move around it gets to 1000 but nothing higher. I'm wondering maybe if locking it down by checking that option basically locked it down to 1000 rather than 1600?
Confused..... Any thoughts? Thanks, great app

Kernel/ROM issue. The app always reads frequency settings from the kernel itself so if it's at something then it's there, if a setting doesn't stick then something else changes it, and if the frequency does not go to the max that is because the set governor and its correspondent tunables, as in load is not high enough for the governor to set it to max.

You might wanna read our FAQ as it contains some information of what inside a JB device that might change the set frequencies. This should be patched in the kernel or worked around in the ramdisk. I coded for the N10 without a device so it's hard for me to say more. As for the frequency doesn't go to max, it's likely because of the load as I told you. Touching the screen is a relatively light load so it might not go to max frequency at all. That's normal.
Sounds good...last question, how do u reset the CPU spy like stats? Sorry if this is already covered in the faq

You can't change the max clock freg because you need a kernel with a patched PowerHAL, which Franco doesn't have.
It only goes to 1000mhz because this is how the interactive governor is tuned. If you put it under increased load it will eventually increase. If you go into the governor parameters on trickster for interactive you will see "hispeed_freq" will most likely be set to 1000000 (1GHZ), which means the CPU will jump to this immediately. You can play around with these parameters for battery/performance but Franco and a few testers tune them significantly, although his N10 kernel is very young compared to his N4 and N7 kernels where the settings have been tuned to a tee, and I think the N10 settings might have just been copied over as a reliable base.

CM 10.1 history here
Notes
Notes from 10.1 still apply.
You will probably see some annoying notifications that cannot be removed no matter what you do. It's not a bug, it's a feature of Android 4.3. You can read about it here.
Extras
T-Mobile V20f radio: Mega, Dropbox. Flash with CWM.
TWRP 2.5.0.0 for p769: post
Here we go with CM 10.2.
It seems to be running fine so far, but it's the first build so anything can happen.
Persistent notifications in Android 4.3 suck.
No need to do anything special when updating from CM10.2, just flash with CWM on top.
Watch for Gapps, you need a different version now, link is provided in the OP.
CM10.2 does not support DeviceParts extension to settings anymore. I have converted the Advanced Settings into a separate Optimus L9 Settings app.
I extended the settings with some BLN options. Neldars's BLN app is not required anymore, you can just enable notification lights with L9 Settings. If you want scheduling you still need his paid app though.
I set ADB to run as root by default (ro.secure=0). Just got tired from switching to root all the time. If everybody thinks it's terrible idea let me know.
I will still do some updates to CM10.1, it's not dead yet, plus it maybe a little too early to jump to CM10.2.
Thanks for the rom! Notifications & the inability to record videos at 1080p are the only faults I see. :good:
Upgraded from AntonX's CM10.1 ROM, no data wipe just caches. Installed new gapps and it runs great. At first glance stock vibration intensity for haptic feedback seems a little less, no complaints just an observation. My only annoyance is that sometimes when hitting the home button to leave an app it takes me straight to the widgets screen. No big deal though, might just end up having to wipe data. Smooth ROM as usual though. Thanks for bringing 10.2 to the P769 AntonX!

But, thanks for all the work on this. I'll check it out when I get a chance.
Can we possibly get another mirror. The dropbox link is a dead end and I was having a hard time with mega.

OP updated
Repo synced today. Quite a bit of changes.
Enabled auditing in kernel to tame extensive error logging from auditd daemon. It's related to SELinux. I still haven't enabled it in the kernel, somehow don't want to do that.
GPS. Somehow I feel it locks a bit slower. It does lock in the end but not in very few seconds as it used to. I haven't touched anything related to it, but I have updated radio on my phone to L6260_MODEM_SIC_01.1305, so it's quite possible it has something to do with it. If you also notices slower GPS lock I wonder what radio are you running.

Please no selinux until it is more stable and widely used.
GPS is a lot slower for me. I'm on the v20d radio. Does it always take a minute for you? Maybe it was just slow the first time because it was downloading AGPS data
Edit: first fix took 1 minute 47 seconds. Next fix took only 17 seconds. It seems to vary a lot though, I did ten tests after the first and they vary from 17 seconds to 1 minute 30 seconds.

First time after reflash it's probably possible to be slower. But I noticed that it takes about 10-20 seconds now to start hot instead of 5 or even under before. Nothing interesting in logs.

I did a quick Google search and it looks like the slow GPS lock is a problem with 4.3 that Google has admitted: https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=58459

Agreed, GPS locks seem slow. Might be what we are stuck with given the cm12 fix.
Havent been on any other gproj ROMs to compare.
Google camera
Does all functions work in the google camera (panorama, photo sphere and lens blur)? Right now I'm using CM12 official with Solid Kernel and only regular photo and video is working.

Sure, go and find something not working why don't you.
I hadn't tried any of them. Sphere and pano only show black screens, apparently not working. Lens blur is functional

Actually, that's a problem with all the lollipop roms that I have tried for the e970 (and most of the KK, except for some the MAKO based). Seems that our camera is quite difficult to please....
BTW dandrumheller, it seems that you have tried most of the roms out there for our device, which one did you find more stable? At the time I'm using the official CM12 with Solid Kernel and in my opinion is really good (except for the camera and the bluetooth address, which aren't dealer breakers for me). Thanks.

I actually haven't tried many of the Lp roms. Candy5 has been the most stable and battery efficient for me. Had some issues with bsod on beanstalk 5.0, though 4.4 versions were excellent. Blisspop has been quite stable, but uninspiring in terms of battery life. My phone hates solid kernel - tons of freeze and crash issues. In general I seem to have better luck with mako based roms. Have not tried CM12 yet.

Cool. I might try Candy5 and see how it goes. Thanks for you answers!
I'm having an issue where the contact names aren't showing up in the stock messenger, or gosms (haven't tried at other). The full number shows, but never the names. I've tried clearing caches and data on contacts and messengers. Tried resyncing the contacts from Google. I've double checked the privacy guard settings. Basically, I've searched around and tried everything I can think of, but still no luck! So I figured I'd ask the experts! Any ideas???
Ive noticed a few other minor issues. ...
I've had the problem with not being able to move the download, as someone mentioned above. Ive had to connect to PC, transfer from phones internal storage to the PC, then back to EXT SD card in the phone.
The 2/13 build does seem to be a little harder on the battery, and runs a lil warm (also mentioned above). I haven't had any crashing issues, but can feel the temp difference over the average.
Possibley related to the heat and battery issues; I noticed that there are two interfaces for the CPU/GPU clocking and scheduling, under the Performance section of System Settings. Maybe there's a conflict happening there? From memory, I don't remember the "Device Control" section being there in the previous build. It seems redundant to have both. Although Device Settings is much more robust, and I would prefer it be integrated instead of keeping the old, minimal interface. Some adjustments to Device Settings, while disabling the other minimal settings on boot, seems to have helped with heat and battery drain a little bit.
No problems with GPS, that I've noticed
Titanium Backup v6 has problem gaining root access in all cm12 ROMs I've tried. To fix, go to Titanium BU Preferences, scroll to bottom, select Troubleshoot Options (or something like that), and highlight/select the option to force the app to use the SYSTEM busybox, not the one baked into Titanium BU. Restart the app, and root works. Also worth mentioning is that you may have to enable root access under Developer Options in System Settings before any app can gain root. Otherwise, no issues with root, or Super SU.
Hi,
After using Beanstalk 4.4 for several months, finally I tried first LP based ROM BlissPop...so far it seem good, only couple of crashes in last week, few issues are present that are highlighted already (like camera panorama not working...battery life affected).
Since last couple days, the strange issue is being encountered, when i get a call, phone rings but there is no interface to receive the call, i then have to go to call screen and there it says "return to the active call" when i click, i get to the screen where i can receive the call. This started happening without any updates so not sure what caused it? I even tried latest version of ROM but same issue present.
Any ideas?
P.S: thanks to everybody who contributes to this excellent site, i have been a regular reader of the site but got to post something today for the first time.

Okay, it turned out to be a feature that some one must have activated on my cell (my little kiddo likes to tinker with my cell)
In App Notification section, Dialer was blocked and that was causing it to not show up whenever i got a call.
Its working great now

system control issue
I went through all 9 pages of the thread and didnt notice anyone else having this issue. In 2.2 under performance and then system control app when one goes to features and then vibration intensity it just force closes on me...is anyone else having this issue? Any suggestions on what I can do to fix?
So I'd like to see what was being discussed in the normal thread for this great rom but the following link isn't working and since I'm a forum baby I'm not allowed to post in the grownup thread... Can anyone help me out with this? Does anyone check this side of the thread?

Also, the last build(the one before latest) ... The vibration control in performance>device control was fixed and working.... In the latest build it's broken once again and force closing every time I select it. Just wanted to mention in case no one is aware of it.
So if 4.8.15 is the latest build why does the ota update app found in the app drawer ask me to update to the latest version so my configuration will be appropriate for ota updates? Is there something specific I have to do in order for that feature to work properly?
Lol is this thing on?
In the latest build, was the performance tab in settings cut out of the build?

It contained the free app that allowed you to do all kinds of different things with the phone...I forget what it was called....I know part of the file name was x.nameless rom.com
You can try kenvinjoa kernel or nitro kernel
Does this build allow encryption?
I'll start off by saying I basically bought the surnia Moto E 2015 (xt1526) specifically for an affordable way to play Pokemon Go. When it's working it works quite well but when in very high particle effect situations such as Battling or Evolving Pokemon it will start to get very hot and then eventually the frame rate will drop and sometimes the app will crash. I've tried a few different ROMs (Cyanogenmod 13, ResurrectionRemix, Cypher) and all seem to have the same issue. The only Kernel I've tried so far are stock and Squid Kernel.
That being said though I've had some experience tweaking and trying to optimize phones for normal app and multitasking usage but I've no experience at all trying to optimize for gaming. If anyone has gotten this particular phone to run optimally without crashes etc while gaming would you kindly suggest the Kernel, Roms and/or settings I should use for doing so? I've seen that were some good gaming ROM's for otus but those seem to have not been brought over to the surnia.
TLDR: surnia xt1526 overheats plummets in FPS and crashes while battling in Pokemon Go, any help appreciated
Update: After trying many different suggestions though I'm sure they did help out others they did not work for me. My phone's GPU was overheating up to 62 degrees sometimes in particular while many people seemed to be tweaking their CPU's mine was still overheating and crashing with those tweaks.
So this is probably a YMMV thing but what finally worked for me was installing a kernel that had some good GPU tweaks and the one I found best so far has been Inazuma R5 it actually has the GPU's lowest setting underclocked to 100mhz, with 400mhz still being the max and also makes use of adreno idler to keep the GPU cooler.
So if you've been having these issues I'd suggest opening up Kernel Adiutor after your phone starts crashing and overheating and taking note of the temperatures. If it's your GPU look for a kernel with adreno idler. If it's CPU then you can go with some of the other suggestions below.
Edit: I want to be clear that this is mainly only a problem with BATTLE after 30-60 consecutive minutes in Pokemon Go (sometimes also with mass evolution because of the heavy animation effects during evolution) So please specify, if you could, whether or not you've had a stable battling experience for extended periods of time.
Ive been using CM13 and squid kernel r16g and had been experiencing lags in pokemon go until i tried out some settings in kernel auditor. In kernel auditor under the tab low memory killer scroll down and select 'very light' and disable adaptive low memory killer(the first option in the 'low memory killer' tab) and now switch the tab to 'virtual memory' and scroll down to the last option and set the memory limit to around 460-480mb. Now under the tab 'cpu-plug' disable the intelliplug switch and there will be an option called as touch to boost, you just gotta enable that(this option is a major player in making the game to perform well). So just try this and see if this works, it worked very well for, i hope it does the same for you.
P.S. This may cause your battery to drain more as you set ur phone to perform more, So after you finish playing the game set it to default.

A friend of mine tried playing this on stock ROM, frame drops lags and crashes all the way.
Havent quite used the stock rom lately....just been flashing roms quite frequently, so can't really say abt the performance of this game in stock And yes, a must try ROM recommendation for all you guys, playing pokemon go, wud be slim rom. Flashed Slim rom yesterday and found it to be light weighted ROM compared to many other roms n that too without a custom kernel. I tried playing pokemon go while in Slim and it worked just fine without lags or crashes. The only thing is that Slim is based on AOSP/CAF so features r limited unlike other roms.
it works fine on mine phone with stock 6.0 and squid kernel, I think that your lags are caused by ram hungry apps in background
ive bought three boost phones in the last couple of weeks just for spoofing devices, all running perfect. I pushed twrp 3.0.2, official cm13, and that's it.
edit: here is the full setup i used when flashing and unlocking/rooting from my google drive:

I don't know I'm not really running much in the background just Gmail and Telegram, as I'm playing more and more it seems like it starts to overheat then starts lagging after doing battles for about 20mins straight. I have to put it in front of a fan and let it cool off before I can do battles again. So I think it's just a hardware issue. Unless anyone else has been able to do battles for more than 30mins without running in to lag and crashing
