P20 Lite Restarting randomly - Huawei P20 Lite Questions & Answers

Hi everyone.
First time here.
I'm hoping to get some information as to what could be causing my brand new P20 lite to constantly restart. It's very random also.
Anyone else having issues with their phone restarting randomly. It happens quite a few times a day, and even happens when i am not using the phone. Like i go to bed at night and in the morning it's on the start screen asking for my pin etc.
Please help if you can.
Thanks
Dizi

Same problem
I've had my phone for a week and it just randomly restarted and it wasn't hot, and the battery percentage was fine, and it randomly restarted?!

Hi there guys
In your case your phone is in warranty state, just send it to warranty Unless you rooted your phone and your phone's bootloader is in "unlocked" or "relocked" state then yeah warranty services may not cover it, unless it is an hardware issue.
Cheers,

[Q] Evo 3D doesn't turn on

Hey guys.
I have a problem with my HTC EVO 3D. I've been using it for a year and everything was fine until yesterday. I was playing Real Racing 3 when my phone suddenly restarted and then turned off before I could enter my PIN code and didn't boot up. I thought that it might have overheated or it was some crash or something, I put the phone to charging and it easily turned on (I must mention, that there were about 70% battery left). I charged my phone and didin't use it whole afternoon. In the evening, I was trying to unlock my phone (with about 70% of battery) when suddenly the same happened again - the phone restarted and before entering PIN code turned off at all. After that I wasn't able to boot my phone.
I tried charging it with original HTC AC charger and also using my laptop and even a car charger, but nothing changes.
When the phone is not plugged in to charging, it doesn't show any signs of being alive. I tried pressing volume down/up/camera buttons + power on button, taking off the battery for about an hour, charging the phone for ~6 hours. Nothing works.
However, I realised that when I connect the phone to my laptop, there is a 'new device is connected' sound, but I am not able to access my memory card or do something else. Also, when the phone is charging, the red charging light is on, which after a few hours turns to green and after some more time disappears at all. When trying to turn on the device while it is charging the red light disappears as soon as the power button is released ant comes back after about 20 seconds.
Sorry for such long story and for my bad English. I am very disappointed. I still have a warranty, but I dont want to take the phone there, because the fixing lasts at least 2-3 weeks and also since I'm unable to boot my phone, there are a lot of my personal information in it, such as passwords, messages, bookmarks and so on, left.
So, is there anything I could do or should I take my phone to service?
P.S. The phone is not rooted and never was. Everything is original and up to date.

Perhaps try a new battery or take it in and have them try one. Sounds like a battery issue.

Thanks. I took it to service. I hope they'll repair it.
I finally got my HTC back a few days ago. They changed the motherboard and I had to buy a new battery since the old one was dead and warranty for it was only a year.
But I've faced several unexpected crashes during these few days. I think 3 or maybe 4 times when I took the phone after not using it for couple of hours and tried to unlock it, the phone didn't unlock and instead turned on. I really don't like this, because if my phone turns off whenever it wants, I may be unreachable
Does anyone knows what that means and what should I do if this keeps happening?

Yes, the soft has always been and is stock.
Then it must be a hardware issue. If your warranty has not expired, take it to the warranty service.

Well as I said I dont want to take it there because it takes about three weeks or more till I get back my phone.. It would be the third time in two months and it really annoys me.
Couldn't this be software issue? I mean I've been reading some similiar threads and I found out that some app might be killing the phone. So I did hard reset yesterday and after that installed only well known essential apps (Google services and some others) and after that the phone didin't crash for almost two days. Unfortunately, it did turned off a few minutes ago. I've installed only 8 Ball Pool and Smart Keyboard Pro recently, so I will try unninstalling them both and let's hope the phone won't crash again. Is there any ideas what else may I do in case it doesn't work?

Id recommend doing a factory reset on the phone and not installing any app for at least a week to confirm its not a hardware issue, but I strongly believe it is. If it fails youll have to take it to a sprint store and hope the clerk is in a good mood and give you a new phone the same day.
try a new battery
The battery is new, I had to buy it only a week ago, because the service stated that the old one was dead.

[Q] Phone won't turn on

Hey guys,
Last night I plugged in my LGOG right before I went to sleep. About seven hours later I woke up, woke it up to check the time, then fell back to sleep. When I woke up again a few hours later, my phone was completely dead. No lights go on when charging, nor does it go into the charging mode that happens when the phone is off but charging. The power button does nothing at all. Connecting it to a computer does nothing. I have tried two different wall chargers and a USB plug, and have tried different outlets. The phone is rooted and unlocked. I haven't put any new apps or anything on the phone recently, however I have had a slight overheating issue lately. I don't think that that's what caused the issue though, as when I woke up for the first time and woke it up, the phone was not noticeably hot, and seemed to work fine. Any ideas or suggestions?
Edit: As suddenly as it stopped working, it has started working again, about two hours later. The notification sound buzzed, my phone turned on, and usual on start things happened. However I'm still extremely worried about it. Now that it's on, I assume there's more I can do to figure out the issue- suggestions?
These phones are terribly buggy when charging/when they die, IMO. Worst Android device I've ever had in that respect.
Probably just a fluke, tbh.
Unfortunately it happened again- sent a message, put my phone away, when I tried to turn it on again nothing happened and it stopped working for five minutes.
Apologies for not mentioning this before, but I am using carbonrom, not stock. I've used it for several months with no issues, and have used the latest build for a week or two now without this issue.

Reboot into recovery and wipe cache+dalvik
Maybe the rom needs a little cleaning

Tried wiping cache and dalvik, but didn't seem to solve the issue. Then my phone started having an issue it's had once before- it turns on for a few seconds, then the screen goes grey for about a minute, then returns to being on. After returning to being on, it acts like it's just started up- ie, there's superuser grant notifications, cpu set notifications, and all sorts of other stuff I usually see on boot. It essentially rendered my phone unusable, so I restored an earlier backup. This seems to have resolved it for now, I may have to wait before updating carbon again.

Either you have a bad phone (possible, LG seems to have some QC issues based on some of the crazy reports Ive heard fm other people on this forum [Mine's fine]), or it's all the startup **** that you have going.
Do you usually let it discharge to below 5%?
that's a stupid idea with any device, and seems to be especially damaging to our LGOG.

Have mine 2months been careful not to let the battery shut down on its own but thirds past Monday my car charger weren't bad and the phone shut down. Would not except a charge after that. Went to att and they sent me to a service center. They could not charge it either. They replaced it, now making sure my external battery backup its always charged. Do not want to do that again.
Sent from my LG-E970 using xda app-developers app
That sounds like that could actually be the issue. On the previous iteration of carbon I almost never allowed it to go below about 10%. However the new update seemed to be harsher on battery life and it slipped into the 1% range several times...
same thing happened to me running root box with no tweaks or anything. I woke up and the phone was off, been that way for two days now. it wasn't on the charger so its definitely possible that it died. I actually found this thread because I could've sworn there was a report of someone who had to do a battery pull. I'm thinking that's my only option now.

One week old LG G5, dead?

I got an LG G5 from TMobile about a week ago, and have been having nothing but problems. The first few days seemed okay, but then it started getting really warm, freezing and crashing a lot. I reset the cache and that seemed to help for a day or so, but I just now woke up to a green screen and tiny text on the phone. I couldn't read any of it (don't have a magnifying glass handy) and the phone was unresponsive.
I pulled the battery, now the phone won't even turn on. I can feel it vibrate once when I press the power button, but nothing else. If I plug it in I won't even get the battery charge icon or anything.
Any ideas? I'm thinking of just getting it replaced tomorrow.
It seems to have come back. Not sure what I did, but after many battery removals and plugging / unplugging it finally decided to come alove. Reboot about 10 times and now it's back.
Strange.
It started crashing and freezing again. Ended up getting it replaced at t-mobile.

Yeah when the device starts acting up like that it's better to get it replaced fast instead of waiting to see if it resolves itself

Weird battery/crashing issue

My phone has developed a strange problem in the last week or so. Basically, it crashes randomly. Turns completely off, and when I try to turn it on again, it assures me the battery is dead by flashing the empty battery symbol. The problem is, the battery is not dead at all. This has happened at charge levels of ~30% up to almost 60%.
When I plug the phone into a charger, it suddenly shows that it's back at the original 57% or whatever and charges, turns on, and operates normally. It's like plugging it in "reminds" it that everything's okay.
Slightly before this, it also developed a problem where all my widgets often disappear after any dead battery shutdown, but this doesn't happen every time.
It's a factory unlocked E5823 on AT&T, currently on Android version 7.1.1. Some Googling around revealed people having a lot of problems with it in July, but I don't even remember when I got that update. It was definitely a while before this issue started, and other people's issues don't sound like mine. The change that most closely coincides with the onset of this problem is me installing Animal Crossing Pocket Camp. I'm not sure how that would mess with the basic operation of my phone, however.
Thoughts? If the battery was just dying, it would actually drain charge, not falsely crash the phone while really full of juice, I thought, but am I wrong? I haven't felt the need to root this phone, but I'm not at all opposed, either, if it'll help. Should I root it and reset batterystats, see if that helps?

--yep mine too. I'm thinking it has to do with the heaying problem. Mine crashes and dies when there are many apps running/ wifi on with downloads while watching youtube., etc. another is when I recprd videos at 4k pr 720p for about 8-10 mins. My phone heats up real hard. I'll try resetting it and hopefully this fixes it. ps. Haven't done anything to my z5c yet. no unlocked bootloader, no root.,etc.
Same problem
I had the same problem
Device have charge (50,60,70 or more), show 0% and turn off.
Hardware problem maybe ???
any solution found?
hi,
I know it's been a long time you posted this but I'm currently facing that exact same problem.
Could you find any solution in the end?
Thanks

Sleep of Death Fix?

Hi! So yesterday, I was charging my phone at the office using an AUKEY fast charger. All of a sudden, the screen blacked out. It hasn't turned back on ever since and won't charge anymore. Tried the following troubleshooting steps to no avail:
1. Pressed the power button.
2. Did hard reset (power + volume up).
3. Tried a different charger (original Xperia 1 charger that came with the box and another USB type C charger from my XZ Premium)
4. Tried software repair through Xperia Companion.
At this point, am I SOL? I was hoping to avoid sending this to the Sony Repair Center as I know it would take a long time to get it back.
Any help would be much appreciated.
UPDATE: After more than a week, I tried charging it again using the original charger, and it magically began charging again. At which point I have decided that I can't afford to have this issue again so I returned it back to the seller. I have now moved on from the Xperia brand and have since switched to Oneplus 7 Pro.
Same here. No solution so far. I think I'll have to take it to the Sony Service Center. Fortunately I still have my Xz Premium so I don't have to live without Sony but of course, it's annoying me à bit that I paid xxx euros for a Premium phone and the screen suddenly goes black and goodbye.

Any solutions for this?
Out of nothing phone is just dead. It is charging etc.
Phone is booting after 1 second lockscreen screen turns black.
couple weeks ago i had a strange observation while the phone was charging.
i'm using a noname normla charger (no fast charge)...after couple minutes the phone just restarted...i don't no why but this never happened befor.
but i'm still on Android Pie
Mine just happened today. Not charging and turning on. Maybe it was the latest software update?

I encountered similar problem today. I was using the phone and then all of a sudden screen turns off and doesn't turn back on.
Naturally I tried to restart the phone, but once the Sony and Android logos disappear and it reaches the pin code screen, the screen shuts off.
It seems the phone it self was working as it still showed up on my Xperia XZP wifi hotspot list prior the first reboot. Also what seemed really odd was that the phone made some really weird noises near the camera area, like a failing HDD would do.
For context I was using the phone in a heavy rain before but I charged it yet.
Update: Phone started up again after leaving it alone for few hours.

Update 2: The phone still gives has the problem. It worked fine most of the day after turning it on, but today morning the screen blacked out again.
I was listening some music while it happened and the music kept playing, meaning the phone itself is totally awake, but the screen cant be turned on.
The phone can be woken up for short burst of time, lasting from 1-3 minutes, or it can also be fine until the problem arises again. I try to copy all my files to PC and remove all of my 2FA stuff from phone and try to repairing the software. If that doesn't help I return the phone to store, bought it last August.
sad to read....so far i did't run into that bug so far :fingers-crossed:
just updated from Pie to Android 10 two days ago (4 updates in a row 0_o)....phone works normal so far

Update 3: So I avoided going through the software repair ritual myself, because even though I am a hard on Sony fan probably til day I die, the damn phone is a disappointment compared to my last XZ Premium. Except the screen and rumble engine, these are better.
But I digress. I just thought that this phone isn't worth my time and just took it straight to shop I bought it from next day. So after two weeks I got my Xperia 1 back, fully working again and with a replaced the motherboard. And all that free of charge. So I advice OP to take that Xperia 1 unit back to Sony if they haven't done it yet.

Well it turned on later on the same day I first encountered the issue. Next day I could not get further than pin screen and it shut screen off.
But I wouldn't cross out water damage, it rained hard on that day so I was soaking wet when I got home. But I doubt my phone provider would have handled it so seamlessly if it were a water damage case.

It must be. I'm washing my phone sometimes. After the blackdead I checked the simcard holder for dirt and things.
And indeed it was little bit dirty(white things). Cleaned it up and it's ok now.
Another one here with a suddenly dead xperia 1.
Long Sony fan too, but im really disappointed. The only thing i could think is i used to wash my phone with a little soap, but when phone died was hours after i wash it, and i been doing the same for months.
Im starting to think is due to bad quality of the motherboard, and not water damage. I checked sim tray and no sign of water, water indicator sticker is intact (white).
Is suspicious, lately suddenly more people seem to report this sudden death, its a bad software update? Planned obsolescence? Don't know but it's weird.
Im so disappointed with the brand right now, that already ordered a Samsung phone. Maybe in some years, Xperia will be more reliable. Having such an expensive phone dying a couple of months after 1 year of use is unacceptable.
