Hi all, I just received my HTC Hero. It currently has the default android 1.5 rom.
What is the BEST rom update that is stock, no changes and which version?
There is 1.6, 2.0 and 2.1
What do you advise me to get and why?
Also, lastly, please could someone send me a link with instructions of how to update rom/software needed for update as I don't want to brick a brand new phone.

Vanilla: aHero or AOSP VanillaEclair 1.3
Sense: VillainROM 5.5 or BeHero

hasn't been developed on this forum....? Just check the HTC website for your latest retailer's ROM. They have instructions on there, if you're unable to follow "double click the exe to update" then please post somewhere else..... anywhere else..... preferably far away from here
I don't really know why your asking which stock rom is best on a forum which develops customised roms... on the other hand, if you want a guide explaining step by step how to install a customised rom (which are often far from stock) please read the first guide in my sig.
It is entirely up to you which ROM you pick but if you're going to create ANOTHER topic about which rom is "best" please read the Q&A section first and post in one of the hundreds of topics which have already been created in there!

But i don't find anywhere how to consult changelog of this rom

presumption is that its a Samsung list of changes on that firmware .
As firmware is from sammobile worth asking them .

Good question. I too wonder what exactly the changes are that we get with each firmware update. Does anyone know of a user updated changelog thread for firmwares if samsung doesnt seem to release this info.

After doing some research I wasn't able to find any custom ROM's for your device, but since you have the stock ROM for your device you could use the files contained within as a base to start compiling Cyanogenmod for your device. Let me know if you still have questions.

you are oot from forum section. it must on discusion or guides forum. by the way what u mean rom is? official firmware or custom rom.. if u looking for custom rom i think there's no more dev interesting develop here. u just could get official firmware from samfirmware/ samobile website. i though u were wrong way
