Problems with launchers - LeEco Le Max 2 Questions & Answers

I'm trying to use custom launcher since always, but for some reason when I lock the phone and unlock it in a minutes, I just see the multi tasking screen and I must press two times home button to go back to home. And in the screen that I see I have the last activity I made (even if I closed it).
What can I do? I was thinking to use Titanium Backup to make the launcher as a system app, but I don't know if that can cause any conflict with stock launcher. Help!

help please?

If it's not fixed yet, you can try to backup first the ROM. Then with Titanium Backup just uninstall the stock launcher, and make sure that the one that you need is the only one remaining. In that way, I guess that your launcher is forced to be the default one and the issue shouldn't happen. If something goes wrong, just restore the ROM backup.

I can try, thanks! There isn't any way to reinstall the stock launcher just in case? It's neccesary to put the custom launcher as a system app?

You can just freeze the stock launcher with Titanium Backup, in that way, it won't exist as an app, and in case you need it again, unfreeze it and that's it.
I use Lawnchair and that's the only launcher present in my system, the others have been deleted. I'm doing this everytime I reinstalled any ROM and there are no issues so far.

Thanks! I was trying but freeze is for pay versiĆ³n...

someone say to me that can be System UI. It's possible?

Can be. Honestly, I would reinstall the ROM with full wipe except internal storage. Then install the launcher you want. I would do that in the beginning without installing any other apps before. It can be caused by many things, some other frameworks like Xposed...

Well...this is embarassing. The problem was that I didn't put the Launcher under protection in energy options on super administrator app so the doze didn't kill It.
I fix the issue

[Q] Titanium restore over GalaxyTask 10 issues

First of all, its a very nice ROM! Reliable, smooth and fast!
I did a minor mess and ask for your advice, after installation I did a full recovery of my apps and data with titanium backup. After that I experienced two annoying issues, the browser didn't start (browser.android.com error) and the new calendar have a conflict with the old one restored.
If I reflash without wiping that issues should go?
Many thanks!
Going forward, do not restore system apps. There are ways to fix this, but I would go the clean way and factory wipe. Then simply restore non-system apps. I also then go in and freeze a lot of system apps since Task has what I consider to be bloat... once you have frozen them and do not experience any issues you could uninstall them (though if frozen, no real need to)... ie, you could do this on the calendar.
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks

I think everyone makes the system app restore mistake once. s15274n is right though, its best to always just go ahead and start clean, just to make sure there are no complications that haven't shown themselves yet, and then all of a sudden your tablet won't rotate anymore... (that was my super experience with not wiping completely)
Thanks.
I full wiped all again reinstalled the rom, restored the 3rd part apps and data. It's working now!

[Q] backup / safe stock swype (e.g. as .apk)?

hi there,
I just searched the forum and couldn't find something...
is it possible to backup my existing stock-swype (for example as .apk) so that I can use it later on with e.g. CM7...?
I know that there's a swype beta, but this has an expiration date and I would like to continue to use my stock swype e.g. in CM7...
thank you very much...
Use something like Titanium Backup (IF YOU ARE ROOTED) and you can backup System apps.

ah, okay... didn't know, that swype easily is just a system-app. but that's nice.
so when I back it up via Titanium Backup, will I get an .apk, which I can use to install swype e.g. in CM7? will it work there?
If you back it up with Titanium you can restore it to any ROM you are using. Just restore the app and not the settings.
Other way is to go into system/app and copy the swype app and save it somewhere then you can install it by placing it in system/app of your new ROM and rebooting.

sounds promising! thank you!
On a side note titanium backup will most likely create a zip with your swipe apk in it if I remember correctly.

Getting Swype to work with some roms can be a pain in the arse. I recommend SlideIt from Market if you come across a rom which doesn't work with Swype easily. I've tested this with 4 different roms & it works perfectly with each, no dramas with install, no FC's. $6 well spent.

Why not the settings?
How do you generally know to restore with or without the settings?

restore touchwiz settings after wipe

Hi all, I just want to ask if there's a way to restore touchwiz settings (icons and widgets positions, home and lockscreen backgrounds,... ) after a full wipe.
Thank you
Zio
using Titanium Backup
Hmm... You're right... I'm not used to restore touchwiz. I always use titanium but never thought that the function to restore missing apps wouldn't restore touchwiz cause it's already there when I install a new rom... Stupid me!
Thanks

I would be careful in restoring TouchWiz as it is a system app isn't it? Could end up in FCs, but please correct me if I am wrong.
Otherwise you could use for instance Apex or Nova, they both got functions to save the settings & desktop.

Why would it? As long as the version is the same, you're good. And you can restore data only
Alternative method .
Nandroid backup .
Flash new rom .
Restore DATA only from advanced Nandroid backup .
As with a TB restore not everything is guaranteed on new firmware . But i have used this method on every SGS3 firmware with no problem .

hello,
on a rom where touchwiz is not installed (pandoriam 4.1.2), would you advise to (or not) restore an app (touchwizz, for example...) from a backup (titanium) from a stock 4.1.1 rom ?
I guess not, but just in case... (or : is it doable to find the 4.1.2 version of apk in the rom's archive and install it from scratch, not reflashing full rom ?)
Touchwiz and Titanium Backup
Using Titanium Backup DOESN'T restore icon positions.

I do need to amend this and say some launchers will play friendly with Titanium's backup restore feature.. For example, when I use "Next" launcher, Titanium backup will restore the positions of the icons. I Believe it all depends upon the launcher, not necessarily the ROM.

No it doesnt because restoring any system data is not really supported in any way shape or form.
This is one of the things you get used to flashing custom roms.

Only restoring a Nandroid data backup on I9300 does that 100%.

Is there an application that can save app position inside the app drawer, after reset?

When i hard reset my device or install new ROM etc. i arrange my applications inside app drawer in a specific position .. So is tough for me to rearrange the way i want it every time...
Don't answer to me about launchers etc..
I prefer stock rom and no launcher. thx

Titanium Backup can do that. Root is needed. Backup TouchWiz launcher apk and only restore data (not apk and data). The workspace files are similar in most versions of TouchWiz I haven't had issues but you need to also clear data first and a reboot may be needed after restore. Definitely need for application widgets.

Are you sure? Titannium backup can restore apps..but i don't want to restore apps, what i want is my apps to be exactly in the same order in app drawer.. and believe me i have a strange way that suites to me. I don't need them by type or name etc...
Yes if you do as I said, backup TouchWiz or the launcher you use and only restore data between flashing (not apk+data). I wouldn't have posted if I wasn't sure. I use the same method

Titanium Backup not restoring all apps properly (apps crashing on start)

Hey,
I've been juggling ROMs for a bit and what I noticed is that Titanium Backup will fail to restore some apps properly. The app shows up in the launcher but its icon is missing and trying to launch it several times ends with the error about the app repeatedly crashing/getting force closed.
It's only a small percentage of apps not restoring properly. I can still uninstall the app, reinstall it from play store and restore data only in TB, and it will work. But depending on which app breaks, it can be annoying.
Is there something I have to change or is this a known issue? I've been using TB for like 8 years on my previous devices with no such issues, it started happening on the Poco F1 though.
PS: I'm not using Google to sync and restore app data because 1. my upload is fairly slow and 2. I'm on a metered internet connection.
It depends "I think" the type of kernel that it uses and if you are changing the kernel when you change the ROM, it happened to me when I'm in a ROM and kernel change crashes me titanium backup.

I wasn't changing kernels, unless you mean ROMs that are based on CAF kernels instead of AOSP.
I'll be able to test this theory in a moment, as right now I'm switching from xiaomi.eu to crDroid, which I think both use the non-CAF kernel.
EDIT: Nope that's not it.
I also had the issue as I swapped ROMs or just fresh installed my rom. I always need to reinstall the app via play store then .
One app I remember was Twitter for example.
Try to open Titanium Backup properties and give all permissions, principally storage one

Yeah, now that I was restoring apps yet again, I noticed there are a few apps that couldn't get restored properly again, namely: SwiftKey, PPSSPP and some ASMR app.
Funny thing is, out of these three I've been using SwiftKey since probably forever, and I never had problems backing up/restoring this one.

TB already had all permissions it could have. I installed it via Play Store, so it asked me for all the permissions when I launched it.
