Hey,
I am trying to create a custom ROM for my device. I want to use Nova Launcher(free version) instead of stock launcher.
I plan to make my ROM available to others too through XDA.
Should I take permission from the developer of the launcher before adding it on my ROM?

Yes , you should ask him , that's better for both you and the team between Nova Launcher.
I agree with him. There is no harm in using without asking but mentioning and thanking them and letting them know wouldn't hurt anybody.try giving them a name in the contributions.

If you're looking for stock ROM themes you will be severely limited. Your best plan would be to apply a stock, deodexed ROM with significant user interest/support. That way you can keep the stock performance and apply whatever theme you like. Make sure to note your version of the ROM and the version that the theme is compatible with. For ease of use I use CheckRom, it is stable, up to date and with the built in Kitchen App it lets you apply multiple mods/kernels/themes all with a nice gui and with the assurance that it is definitely compatible.
Stock Rom Themes Android market best source i guess .

Thank you so much guys. I will give checkrom a **** first.
Hello,
I have rooted my XSP, but I don't have a custom rom, I have the rom stock.
And, I saw on the play store, a good theme.
But, I can't install it on my phone, without a custom rom, and while my phone is under warranty I don't want to install a custom rom.
So, can I install this theme on my phone without a custom rom ?
Thanks a lot.

ok , so u can install any launcher (Go,nova, etc)
And, with nova, go or another, I can install any themes I find on the store, or only the themes proposed by this apps ?
If I install nova or go, I must configure totaly the menu, I can't keep mind.

Since you have a rooted phone, You should try XthemeEngine. But you should install Xposed Framework first.

Are there any benefits of converting nova launcher into a system app?
Does it make it faster? More Stability?
Inputs would be highly appreciated..
Meh, doesn't really make a difference. ROM cooks usually puts it in /system if they're using it as the main ROM launcher, but there aren't any advantages for a normal user. You can do it if you want to, though

Just download a new launcher (Nova, Apex or whatever you prefer), delete the stock Sony launcher from system/app, and you're done. No cooking is needed, but you'll need root.
Thank you very much , You're a star ,I am glad i don;t have to go to the kitchen
restart
If you do get rid of the stock launcher and u put lets say the google kitkat launcher google placed on the play store in the /system app folder and u need to reseat the device would the os install the launcher in the app folder or would it not touch it so when it starts up there is no user face, and if so how can u put aosp launcher back onto it and where would u find the launcher?
And without touchwiz ofcourse....
Thanks in advance for the answer.
Cheers!

actually this is the main reason for the existence of roms!
most of the sammy based roms come with touch wiz but it is safe to remove once you installed another launcher (this is absolutely necessary(!)) but it does not use any resources when deactivated so this should be enough.
if you want to have a concrete recommendation I would definitely name the great NeatRom! You have the option to flash it and leave every checkbox in aroma unticked. I guarantee you, this will be absolutely slim and debloated! Have fun
Cheers
Without Touchwiz ?! Touchwiz can't be deleted so any ROM you flash to your phone is either based on an edited version of Touchwiz, or based on AOSP (Stock Android).
If you don't want bloatware or the Touchwiz UI go for Cyanogenmod, otherwise there're plenty of ROMS based on Touchwiz except without all of the bloatware and useless crap.
Hey Guys,
I was able to successfully root my Note 3 Neo (N750) with help of Philz recovery (many thanks). After doing usual nandroid backups, Xposed and stuff.
I wanted to change look and feel of my phone. Since there are not many custom roms and most of the cool themes are for CM, I tried my hand at HKThemeManager to apply CM themes on stock samsung rom.
Did anyone had any success?
I would like to port themes to be compatible with stock firmware. Devs/seniors please point me in right direction.
Thanks,
Nikhil

I dont think it is possible to use CM theme in Stock Samsung. If you are using S5 launcher then google you will get some theme for it.
Ok. Although HKThemeManager allows using CM themes on stock roms, but I am not able to utilise it due to some kind of permission error. Any way I like stock rom on note 3neo due to features and functionality (it's so feature rich).
Any idea how to change caller id interface? (Not uci app pls)
I use mihome launcher and download themes from the launcher itself.

you can push the apk file of the launcher you have downloaded to /system/app
and delete the stock touchwizhome launcher in system/priv-app
to use the custom launcher as a stock launcher
