Hello I am looking for any android app that can automatically move files from one folder to another as soon as the source folder gets a file.
So to auto move files from Source to Target.
And if it cant do it soon as a file is created in Source then one that can do it on a timer, for instance every 5 minutes to check that folder and if files exist to move it to another folder.
I had to ask, I installed so many crap app even old ones that arent even in the store anymore, I feel like I missed it, and maybe one of you guys know of an app that is perfect for what I am trying to do.
I am rooted so even if I have to run some script? (IDK much about that) but hey im willing to try.

Hi everyone,
I have a question or maybe someone can give me some advice?
Is there an application that can do this or maybe a terminal app, and someone knows the commands to enter?
I am very anal and a complete neat freak, so my sd card on my xperia looks very unorganized. I have tried to create a folder called android and move all the dependent files to android there but the folders and files just get recreated.
I would love to have my sd card Folders look like:
Android (defualt for android),
Music,
Pictures,
Movies,
Temp,
and so on.
does anyone know how this type of organization could be done, I have an X10a rooted. So could i not open a terminal and change the default path to my sd card to a folder rather than the root of the card.
So this would make android put anything it wanted to write to the sd card into a folder called Android.
Hope someone is as anal as me and has figured out a way to do this.
I agree and would also like to know if there's an option to deal with this. I think it's absurd that Android defaults to dumping temp files an app folders all over the sdcard with no actual organization. I can't think think of a single reason why it can't just put all of these things in an "Android" folder and make a giant mess out of that, instead of doing it right in the sdcard root.
This was posted in July and this is the first response. Anyone have any ideas?
Root explorer paid app will allow to create folders and move stuff around

BUMP
would also really like to know if it can be tidied up
what about dynamic links like the same way apps2sd works
Just an idea
Bump, still searching for a solution to this
I would think that with all the mods, this might be able to be done.
I'm going to ask if the moderators good move this thread to a more general forum like the android q&a?
would be nice to have all sym links go to an android folder, instead of the root of the sd card. or maybe the android files need to be on root?
still searching......
I am afraid this cant be done - every Android app has a ability to write wherever on sdcard. There is dierectory Android, which is default for every android app data.
Some developers respect it some not, many apps dont write do /sdcard/Android but creates their own dirs wherever on sdcard.
I think about one solution, because I am linux geek and hopefully many thinks could be done on Android similar way
Repartition the sdcard with two discs - one to be mounted as /mnt/sdcard - where all of the junk stuff and android configs will be stored as usual and second one partition (bigger) mounted eg. as /mnt/ext_sdcard
But there is one problem, because not all of apps are able to work with files on eternal storage....
When adding things to your SD card, like the apk files for apps, I have just been dragging them right onto the card. Should I be making folders for them or anything like that?
I know sounds like a dumb question but i have to ask.
Depends on your level of OCD.
Seriously though, just make one folder at least so if you want to wipe your sdcard later you can just drag and drop one time

if you dragged the apk onto the sdcard and then installed they are fine to move. in this case what you have saved is the installable application. the installed apk is now located in /data/app
hope this helps
Ok... So it goes like this.... You download an apk..... You go to the folder it sits in( diwnlaod folder on your SD card) you tap install.... This install the program into system/data/app
The original file you downloaded will still be in the download folder on your SD card.... If you don't plan on using this download to install the apk again, you can go into the download folder and delete the file... Once u have it installed you no longer need this file....
For safe keeping I actually upload all my downloaded apk files to my box.net account for future use.... And they don't take up space on my sdcard anymore....
All goes back to level of ocd, cause if you don't mind the clutter on your SD card your good to go, me I leave as much space open as possible... For roms, music, etc... Files I think I more important to me....

THANKS Hitman, i did just that. Ive removed the install apk, but i still have them in a folder on my HDD and external HDD
Okay, here's the back story, it's short. My SD card fried on me yesterday. I had a nand backup of my stock setup on that card. That backup contained a couple of voicemails from my 2 year old daughter (not saved/forwarded, just downloaded into the voicemail app) which i hadn't gotten around to saving in the forever style yet. (was going to restore the backup and save them, then jump back to current ROM)
Anyway, i got a utility that will scan the card and found a whole ton of files on there. What's more it looks like it actually pulled a lot of it from within the backup files (no kidding, i'm seeing icons and temporary internet files and that sort of stuff) in addition to stuff stored on the root.
Was hoping someone could tell me what format these files would be in (3gp, mp4, etc.) so i know what to tell it to pull out. it's a trial software and will only let me restore 10 files before it chokes (could probably just run again on another pc though) but can anyone help me? it's doesn't give me a folder structure at all, just files, and they're even named genericly. So if i know what file type i'm looking for i can just grab those and maybe one of them will be it.
thanks!!
I looked before, and believe its something proprietary. Try using ES file explorer or something similar, store a vm and check which folders updated the time and date..start there..only thing I can think of currently.

Hi
There is a watchface that i put in my favs and the creator has been asked to adjust the branding on it (probably someone complained). This update didnt affect the watch face for me somehow, now i am switching phones and the update is in effect on the new device.
When i sync the gear s3 back to the old device, still use the original watchface.
So my assumption is the watchface is stored on my phone (somewhere, somehow)
Does anyone know where to look? I downloaded ES File Explorer and tried going thru the app apk, and the app folder under android>data>com.jeremysteckling.face : not sure where to look in the apk cant find any *.face files and the folder (just says "empty").
Appreciate any help :fingers-crossed:

Hello friends. I know this is a long-shot, but here goes:
Every few days I find and delete a folder called tencent inside my Android's internal storage.
The folder contains a sub folder called beacon and inside it, a file called meta.dat whose contents are not human readable (is computer code).
The weird part (and I can't stress this enough) is that I have NO apps installed from the company tencent, so unless any of the apps I do have is playing dirty by having deals with that company and not informing its users, I have no idea why the folder keeps reappearing.
Is there any way in android to determine what app created a file or folder? Or can anybody shed some light on the matter?
Best regards
Hi! -- I observed the same thing on an OnePlus 5. I'm running latest Open Beta, not sure if it helps.
When I delete the folder, it may get recreated at a later time, and I can't figure out if it's recreated by an app I'm using or from something from the OS...
I have the same problem on a stock Galaxy S10 with no tencent apps installed. Any ideas yet?
