Either I'm doing something wrong, or this option is a useless piece of ****!
I have my phone fairly secured, long pin (use fingerprint to unlock) and encrypted. But I thought that if a thief manages to break into my phone (either guessing the long pin, or using some vulnerability), then I want to have stored as little data on the phone as possible. Keep it all in the cloud since my phone is connected 24/7.
So I thought how can I limit the number of emails that Gmail stores locally. There's an option called "Days of emails to sync", which doesn't seem to be doing anything. I had it set to the default 30 days, but when I put the phone in airplane mode and started scrolling through emails, I got as far as 8th of April (Note, it is 31st of August as I'm writing this post).
I changed it to 1 day. Didn't do ****.
I cleared cache, nope still all there.
I cleared all Data, force closed it. When I opened it, I didn't make it in time to get to the option because the app already managed to sync again.
I cleared all Data, force closed it and entered airplane mode. I couldn't change the option because it was "Waiting for sync" (airplane mode on). Disabled ariplane mode... Yup, same as above, synced the emails again.
I even tried the above and restarting the phone.. nope!
Anyone had any luck with this?
I'm on an OP3, Omnirom.

now ive tried many key words and phrases to search, maybe im just searching wrong or something but i cant find any fix to this yet im sure others have experienced it.
basically my data keeps turning on every 10 minutes or so after i switch it off. no programs are running, weather not set to update, youtube hasnt been set to login and neither has twitter, activesync set to usb. the only home screen tabs i have are messages, internet, photos&vid, and weather. time isnt set to update via internet. auto update of database within the data connection are turned off, auto config turned off
im on the verge of hard resetting.
not sure, but maybe WMLongLife could help to identify the culprit, as with each new connection it asks you to define connection type/access
go to settings tab / more / connections / connections / advanced / choose networks -> programs with automatic internet access use: set to "firmennetzwerk" (i guess its work network or something similar).
now your phone doesnt connect data anymore..
if you want to connect it again, you have to change that again..

have you tried the "no data.cab" file works for me
yea ive looked into the above solutions but didnt want anything semi-permanent.
ironically i soft reset the device about 4 times within 30min and its back to normal now...go figure.
Search for dialup enablerdisabler. Install it first thing after a new Rom. Goto start find it and disable data once and for all
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
Hi, for years now (and on many different phones and Android OS versions), I've run into a reoccurring issue in the Gmail app: now and again, a batch of messages I've told the app to send will get stuck in the Outbox as "Sending" and won't ever send, even after I've rebooted the phone, cleared the cache, insured the phone is online, etc... This only seems to happen when there's some sort of an internet connection issue, but I haven't been able to figure out if it's associated with one particular thing: airplane mode, being out of connection range, having auto-sync or background data turned off, etc... Does anyone know what triggers this behavior? If it was caused by being in one particular state, I'd just avoid sending email while in that state.
Thanks, Alan
Ugh!!!! Was hoping the 4.2 update might have fixed this, but no luck. Has Google even acknowledged this issue yet? It's MADDENING!
My wifi and data connection disconnects when screen goes off on my huawei ascend mate 2. For samsung phones it can be solved with secret codes like ##0011# but for huawei phones the secret codes are not working. or do you know a working secret code on hardware level for this? my power save mode is off. wifi is set on always on mode. auto synchronisation is on. my apps can all run in background. So I have set off all possible energy saving option for all apps. besides I have downloaded apps to keep wifi always on. but when I put it on always on mode on this app. It mentions that the wifi set on always on mode. but after 2 seconds I open the app (wifi always on app) it says that the wifi is on saving mode and not in always on mode. So there is another more dominant program (probably the huawei custom ROM) who has more privileges than a normal app so that it avoids that wifi is on always on mode.
Sometimes even when the screen is on, viber whatsapp does not receive calls or messages you should launch the app to receive calls and messages. you would say that it is a synchronisation problem. No. No. sync is on for all accounts. all accounts have full access on all my data and on the battery. All settings about battery saving options are set off.
I have sort of the same issue. I use KIK to talk to a lot of friends and on other phones I've had (LG G3 previously), I could load up the task manager and clear away all apps and it had no effect on getting messages. Now, with the HAM, if I clear away running programs, including KIK, even though I have KIK set as a protected app, I will not get any messages and people who send me messages say it stays on S (sent) as opposed to D (delivered). If I clear out all running apps and then load KIK up again before turning off the screen, the messages get delivered and I get notification. It's a little annoying, but keeping the program I want to receive notifications, running, seems to solve the issue for me.
Having trouble when phone has been in sleep for half hour or more. Notifications coming through wifi are not working. I've being trying to solve it since yesterday but I'm not having any luck.
I've made sure the apps in question are on auto start in permissions, turned off ultra long standby mode in battery power management settings and set the apps to be exempt from cleaning in app protection settings and even turned off 'align wakeup' in power management, and of course wifi is set always on.
Phone is x820 model running fresh china 17S rom, to which i manually installed google play, gmail, bbm apps.. bbm and gmail are the apps in question are the ones not getting notifications, even though phone can receive an sms messages no problem, weirdly even receiving an sms doesnt spring the other notifications to work, also when turning the screen back on notifications still don't come for up to ten minutes even though wifi is working fine.
Any help would be really apreciated, thanks

Yeah it's pretty odd. Maybe the trying the Indian rom is the solution.
Generally the settings for notifications should be done in this way:
1. Check that notifications for the desired apps are ON under the menu Settings - Notification Management
2. Allow the apps to start automatically under the menu Settings - Permissions - You have allowed ... apps to auto launch
3. Disable the auto cleaning of the apps under Phone manager - Power Saving Management - App protection
I have Lock-Screen cleanup unchecked, Ultra-Long standby during sleep checked, Align wakeup checked, Clock night-alignment mode checked.
In this way I have no problems with notifications with whatsapp, viber, e-mail (I'm using yahoo mail with the stock email app), fb messenger, Facebook.
If the above are done and stil there are no notifications, then check in the app itself. The last but not least, reflash the firmware.

If your data will work all the time, then the battery will be drained fast. The phone connects from time to time to the Internet and then you'll get the necessary notifications. I cannot tell you how often is this, but you can decrease the time by deselecting Align Wakeup in Power Saving Management.
I am not sure that the way described above is correct, so if someone knows differently, please state.
edit.. thought i found a workaround, but I jumped the gun. Still trying to work this out.
I'm giving up, thinking about sending phone back under the reason of not fit for purpose
Maybe we need to try cuoco rom.
I've installed gapps by myself so maybe they is a bug with it
I've been testing WhatsApp all night, checking every hour if a message will get through and so far it has.... but i bet as soon as i post this it will stop working, that's the luck i seem to have lol
oddly on 19S rom WhatsApp is automatically set up to lock itself in memory, with the lock sign in recents screen, and autostart enabled in permissions
edit, put the phone in airplane mode while i slept, turned airplane mode off and now whatsapp won't get notifications even with the screen on unless i open WhatsAppl
I'm sure it shouldn't be this hard
Hi.
After the latest updates, i can't get to solve the problems with the notifications from phone to watch. I cannot get SMS or email notifications. Only calls.
If i test notifications in amazfit app, all five test cases work (there is no SMS test).
I deleted the app and factory reset the watch. No difference. Now i also lost all my records. I thought they were in cloud. Now my watch also won't synchronize sleep data. App shows only heart rate, and walk, but no sleep. On watch i can see my sleep data.
Any idea?
Thanks.
It seems it was MIUI update problems. I solved notification problem with:
On the phone go to Settings, Passwords & Security, Privacy, Special app access, Notification access. In the list turn off Xiaomi service framework then turn it back on again, and reboot the phone. Maybe reboot once with it disabled and enabled.
Sleep data still isn't synched and it seems i lost all of my records data (after factory reset).
